I'm originally from Buffalo and try to get there once a year. On this trip from 16 Sep to 24 Sep 2026 we ate at Glen Park Tavern in Williamsville, NY. We enjoy Beef on Kummelweck, known as BOW by locals. Over the years we have tried other places and this is by far the best we've had. The restaurant is a great meeting place for locals. I highly recommend eating there if you are a local or a visitor to the Buffalo area. read more

When you walk in, you step into a quaint space that feels very cozy, and yet there's a lot more room then you would expect. The hostess is not the friendliest of people at all. However as you look around the bar and the restaurant you see a lot of people talking and chatting with some new friends and probably old friends and family and it makes you feel good. Our waitress was not the friendliest either but the food made up for the lack of pleasantness from the staff. It made me kind of wish we were sitting at the bar as, the bartender seemed like he was quite happy and friendly and having a good conversation with one of the patrons. They do have things marked on the menu for gluten free and vegetarian, that was a help for sure. The food was excellent. Go check it out, you won't be disappointed. read more

Came for dinner on a Monday. It was busier than expected so we hadn't tried making reservations, but we were able to wait at the bar before being seated. Had Tom and Jerry cocktails. I had heard of them but never had one, it was great. Had the club on rye for dinner and French onion soup. Both were delicious. The fries were handcut and great. read more

Glen Park Tavern is the definition of a 'neighborhood tavern' that just happens to have great food. We met friends there for lunch. We all started with soup, lobster bisque and French onion. I had the French onion. It was flavored nicely & had the a nice amount of melted cheese. My friends then seemed to enjoy their sandwiches and rest of their food. My husband ordered a reuben & devoured it. Guess he liked it too. :( I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich topped with a stuffed banana pepper. It was the best sandwich I've had in a long time. The chicken was nice & tender with Cajun seasoning. The stuffed hot pepper on top was actually the perfect topping. The pepper gave it a nice kick & the cheese stuffing added a great flavor. Wow! I've been living in Williamsville for over 30 years and somehow have never been to the Glen Park Tavern. I can't believe what I have been missing. They have an extensive menu with something for everyone. I ordered the Reuben on Marble Rye with Fries and a cup of French Onion Soup. Before the pandemic i was on a quest to find both the best Reuben and the best French Onion Soup in Western New York. I traveled all over the area trying many places. Little did I know that the best of both is just a short distance away from my home in my own town. The main criteria I use to rate Reubens is not only taste but the order the ingredients are built in the sandwich. Most places make the big mistake of putting the sauerkraut directly on the bottom slice of bread, always making one side of the sandwich soggy. Here they put the melted cheese on first then the sauerkraut leaving both slices of grilled bread nice and crisp. The main two criteria I use to judge French Onion Soup ore melted cheese coverage on top and the richness and flavor of the broth. Many paces just use thin over salted colored water but not here. The broth is rich, flavorful and not over salted. Glen Park Tavern wins both quests. Try them out yourself. read more

As the saying goes, when in Rome... I had to sample the Buffalo regional delight of Beef on Weck, as I was told the Glen Park Tavern is the best! The place was jammin' busy for holiday gatherings, so I assumed a rare open seat at the bar top. I ordered the William Mattar which was a sampler platter of a Weck, Wings, and fries. The roast beef on the Weck was over-the-top tender. Wings had a nice crisp. The French Onion soup as a prelude was also worthy. The tavern had a warm, homey vibe, complete with friendly staff. Phil the bartender provided pleasant service, and a couple of older gentlemen regulars were fun to chat with. I am happy to say, I will def return to the Glen Park when working in Buffalo (hopefully Summer next time). read more

This is added to my list of discoveries from the WNY Craft Brew Tour Cards from Habitat for Humanity. I have mixed feelings on this one. My visit started out confusing - there is no clear signage at the front noting whether to wait someplace for seating or to seat ourselves. With no obvious host station, we attempted to seat ourselves, which was apparently wrong. Worth noting - if you want the window booth up front, you'll need to call ahead and make a reservation. Mostly I was here for the beer so I didn't look too hard at the food menu. The beer list is just that: a list. There are no descriptions at all! The server was not able to tell me anything about the beer either. "It's okay I guess" is not exactly a ringing endorsement, but she didn't recommend any others either. I went with the Shipyard Pumpkin. I have to say the server was right on it at least, and it was okay. Not amazing but a solid three stars. I'm really not sure why this is part of the Craft Brew Tour. The highlights of my visit were the basket of fries, which was larger than expected and very tasty. They tasted like fresh-cut? Awesome. Second highlight was the blue cheese dressing (served with wings), which was probably the best I've ever had. That is what all blue cheese dressings should aspire to be. Wings were decent. I felt like the food took a long time to come out though. Ambiance feels very pub-like. It's generally dark and the volume is loud. Restrooms are hard to find; the men's is near the front and the women's is in the back (look for a very tiny brass sign on a door to the right of the kitchen). One of the other servers showed us the restrooms; she was very friendly and helpful. Overall - this is probably a good place for food. Not so much for craft beers in my opinion. read more

This place is an absolute gem! I'm from Ohio but when I travel to Buffalo for business I always will make a stop. This visit I had lunch and enjoyed their Beef on Weck sandwich with fries. Absolutely amazing! Since by myself I sat at the bar where I was incredibly taken care of by their bartender Jamie. Wow what a huge disappointment! I loved the food here and decided to get dinner to go for me and my 8 year old. The place was busy but not like in the past. First thing asked was if I had a reservation (?) but we were take out. I picked the hot roast beef with gravy and sweet potato fries. And a bowl of lobster bisque. My daughter got the kids spaghetti and meatballs. 40 minutes and $46.00 later I get home to a lump of roast beef in tin foil, no gravy for the roast beef just horseradish. The soup looked like a cup not bowl. The meatballs were tiny things that looked like they were from a can! The final insult 3.50 take out fee, 2.25 containers fee! Thats why a roast beef sandwich,soup and kids meal was $46. Never again. read more

Haven't been here in ages and went at 2 pm the Monday before new years. Wow. It was packed! Lucky I made a reservation and was seated soon after arriving. This is not a place for a quiet meal or a fast one, it has a city vibe somehow but in a " cheers" kind of way. I don't eat red meat but there were many things to chose from. Turkey burger, fresh carved turkey, or my selection- Turkey and Brie. I started w a cup of lobster bisque- hot and w the perfect amount of sherry. My fried had the beef on weck and French onion soup, which had plenty of cheese. No complaints other than I would have liked to have had something on the sandwich like apple or fig jam as it was a bit dry Both served w fries and a pickle on a costanzas roll ( IYKYK) . Got to spend some time in Williamsville this week and visited the Glen Park Tavern. It is in a great location in Williamsville and easy to walk to from our VRBO. Husband had the hot turkey sandwich. It looked good and big! It had lots of hand carved turkey and lots of gravy. He loved it. I had a special pasta dish which was light and flavourful. A lively place, busy but the servers were friendly and attentive. Will be back. read more

After a Fall hike in from nearby Amherst state park, it was wonderful to arrive at this warm homey restaurant. We were seated immediately and had good service throughout. The food was tavern food, we had a beef on weck cooked perfectly!!! 5 lucky charms, err stars!!! went to the park to met a local friend who i havent seen in a while. i also chose st pattys day, so it was a bit...intense, but great overall!! so, no reservations tonight, not shocked since it was cra cra, but after a short wait, we were given a table, still a bit raucous here, not surprised. We love their beef on weck and the sweet potato fries with honey butter. Beyond the food, the ambiance is great! It's clearly loved by the community, but it's not too loud even with sports playing. An old stagecoach in, the interior still has the old bar, brick and wood. Made sure to stop here on our way back through. read more

The food here is seriously so good. There are several places in Buffalo that do both of Buffalo's two most famous local foods (wings and beef on weck) very well and this is one of them. The wings are not super saucy here but they are perfectly crispy and very flavorful. My friend and I got an order of the medium wings and they were seriously the perfect combination of buttery and light Buffalo spiciness and they were so good we absolutely devoured them in minutes. The large beef on weck (which they will ask you how you want your beef done, medium rare you want it medium rare!) is piled high with paper thin sliced and very tender flavorful seasoned roast beef on a fresh soft weck roll with the perfect amount of kosher salt and caraway seed on top with horse radish and hot au jus on the side. The staff here are so friendly and personable and the service is good. The restaurant has that welcoming old 1700s tavern feel and it's a great place to enjoy a meal. Will definitely be back here over and over again. And it's always going to be one of my top 3 choices when I want both wings and beef on weck. read more

The service and food are great, parking is always a little questionable, and the clientele is quickly making me not want to go back. Tables are close together and noise can be a little loud - making conversations difficult and ensuring you will hear conversations at other tables. For the third visit in a row, I have overheard vile, hateful language from nearby tables. Once is a random event, twice is a pattern, three times... it may just be where hate filled people congregate. I support free speech, and understand they can't necessarily choose their customers. My freedom of choice says I can eat somewhere more welcoming. read more

I've dined at the Glen Park several times and have never been disappointed. Their fish fry is delicious, and they have a fantastic French onion soup. My favorites include the Reist Street Rueben and my son is a big fan of their fried bologna sandwich. The only negative is that it can get quite loud, so if you're looking for an intimate setting, or are looking to have conversation while dining, this might not be the best option. read more

Lobster bisque was comforting a slightly larger portion would be nice for $8, but understandable , however did not have any lump crab in my cup. Steak sandwich was shared and portion was decent with spinach and mushrooms. 2 star Major downfall ( we both complained of this as we sat in back of restaurant near restroom) the sound was extremely uncomfortable. This is one of our All-time favorite places as we KNOW we will get a great meal & special service. Today was no different, maybe actually better! We had LEAH as our server and I could tell we were on the same page from the get-go. She asked how we were and we said, "things have been better" and she made things even MORE better! I visited 7 places during my wing tour of Buffalo over 2 days. I was told to order the Sicilian wings so I did. I regret that. They were garlic parm style and did not have a lot of flavor. Just not my type of wing. I will go back and try the hots on a future trip to the area. Parking is tough but I was lucky to find street parking right out front. read more

Stopped in for dinner on a Tuesday night with a party of six. The place was jampacked luckily we were able to have a reservation due to the size of our party. Everyone was very pleased with their dinner. I wanted to try their French onion soup so I had a cup along with my entrée. The main reason for our visit was to try their Tom and Jerry Winter cocktail. The Tom and Jerry was absolutely delicious. My son, warm, beautiful, thick batter just the right amount of nutmeg and a cinnamon stick and of course, a lovely balance of alcohol. I enjoyed my meal so much that I stopped in for lunch the next day so that I could have a bowl of the French onion soup. While there I had another Tom and Jerry. A quaint Tavern from the 1800s, it's busy, but it's worth the wait. The food is very good and very homey. The roast beef sandwich comes in three sizes. I picked the biggest size, planning to eat 1/2 at lunch and 1/2 later tonight. It was a very nice sized sandwich, but think that if this is the biggest, then small and medium must be pretty small. Maybe the roll is the same and the amount of meat differs? I did not ask. This is my second time coming back after relocating to the Buffalo area. Slightly disappointed in my visit today, ? the service was very lackluster despite being seated right away. We ordered the hot stuffed banana peppers as an appetizer , the grilled chicken Caesar salad and grilled chicken souvlaki salad for lunch. Caesar salad was good size but little heavy on the dressing and my chicken souvlaki salad was just OK. We got here for lunch and it was very busy, but there were still plenty of tables open. Definitely has a good busy lunch crowd last time I was here I had their cheeseburger which was phenomenal so maybe I will stick to that for next time. read more
