Fabulous service from Gabriel on a busy Friday night!! Irish Mule and Barrel Aged Old Fashioned hit the spot. My guy ordered the Bourbon Pepper Sirloin and I went with the 1/4 Rotisserie Chicken and 1/2 Rack of Baby Back Ribs with Grizzly Skins for a side, The steak had good flavor and was tender. The ribs were tough and overcooked; I cannot believe a place featuring ribs doesn't cut the silverskin off, but here we are. I had to use my husband's steak knife to try and cut the ribs apart. The chicken was absolutely amazing!!! Since we shared, we both declared we'll only choose chicken entrees next time. Seating was comfortable and prices were reasonable. We were seated right away and our server came over shortly to take our drink order. We just missed happy hour by a couple of minutes, so we were disappointed with that. We ordered the Wisconsin cheese curds for an appetizer and they were huge! Came with ranch for dipping. I ordered a chicken salad to balance the cheese curds. Took my girlfriend here for her birthday and to try it out - pretty good! Really nice aesthetics and good attentive staff, I did have a few issues like my drink glass having food on it (clearly not cleaned fully) but they apologized and fixed it immediately. I really enjoyed the food as well but the ribs had a really bad fat-to-meat ratio with most of it being pure fat chunks which turned me off from ever ordering them again, even what meat I could get off of them was kind of mediocre. We came by about 7:30 on a Saturday. There were just two of us. We had about a 15 minute wait before being taken to a table. It was immediately clear that the wait wasn't for a lack of empty tables, but a lack of staffing. Everyone there was extremely nice and helpful, but they were stretched so thin. We had a long wait to place orders, and for my husband to get his beer (it turned out they'd run out of his first request, but we didn't know for 15 minutes until we inquired), and for our food to arrive. The food was fine, too. We'd come here as part of the Curd Crawl, and Grizzly's has gigantic cheese curds. Really, they were almost too thick! They take several bites to eat. We'd also ordered small salads to balance with the cheese. I hope they get the staffing issues fixed, as it was apparent that the people there were doing everything they could. read more

Beer arrived cold, and my dinner shortly after. Food was good, but nothing spectacular. My server made a quick pass to "check" on me right after I got my meal, but I did not see them again until well after i finished--well past me wanting to order anything else after sitting so long waiting for my server to return. I was ready to pay when the server dropped off my check and I didn't see them again after they returned less than a minute later after processing my payment. read more

When you walk in the front door, you will see rotisserie chickens cooking over a wood-fire. The restaurant looked fairly clean and the staff was friendly. They serve Pepsi products. We ordered BBQ ribs and a coconut shrimp salad. The food was good/decent, but not amazing. This is a small chain with other restaurant locations in Minnesota. What an awful experience! We stopped here because we had JUST been to the one in Baxter, MN and it was fabulous. We were excited to see one in Eau Claire because we drive this route, when going to our cabin, often. Ordered the blackened wings online for pick up because no one answered the phone and their mailbox was full. Tried to call 4 times. Arrived, walked in, waited for 10 minutes to even be acknowledged. Then the dude with the Elvis hair said," you have to talk to the bartender". So I walked to the bartender who had like 6 people at the bar and I waited and waited and waited. Finally I saw a bag, looked at the receipt and saw there were two orders of blackened wings. Picked it up, said loudly "these are mine" and walked out. Got out and these aren't even blackened! They were plain wings with zero flavor. Plus only gave one order of runny blue cheese. Super disappointed. The ambiance might have been fine if anyone actually paid attention to us. The couple in front of me gave up and walked out. And I'm super tired of hearing staff shortage, there were plenty of people there, just not doing their job. Not a great experience tonight. On top of being let down by the food, I was also not impressed with the service. I ate at the bar, and I hate to be down on the service because the poor bartender was just over worked! I know he was working hard to keep up, so this is on the management not the person. While taking care of anywhere from 6 to 8 people at the bar, he had to make drinks for the entire restaurant AND take all the phone in orders... place was busy and the phone rang a lot. Hope they are paying him well! At the same time the manger did make an appearance and complained when he asked her if she would make a drink order for him. Jokingly saying something like "sure you give me the hard order" she helped him for a a few minutes and then took off, never to be seen behind the bar again! As for the food, I did like the Chicken and Wild Rice Soup. Have to highly recommend it! The ribs however, I would take a pass on. For my taste, the sauce was too sweet. (This is my taste.. you may like it). I did get a full rack, which was basically 2 good sized half racks. One of the racks was meaty and done well, the other was badly burnt and much fattier. Because the serving size was so large, I wasn't too upset because I was pretty full from the "good" rack.... but I would have really been let down if they both were sub par! That's still don't give a pass to burnt food. On top of that, for some reason a bell was dinging constantly during my meal... don't know why, or where it was exactly coming from. I've not been to Grizzly's before but my wife is from the area. We arrived a little after 5pm on a Friday with a reasonably short wait. We sat in the waiting area watching chickens cook on the rotisserie over the flames. Drinks came quickly enough and our server took our order without question. I ordered a platter with the signature rotisserie chicken and brisket and a side salad. My salad didn't arrive but my wife's soup did. While the salad never came (i actually kind of forgot about it), I was informed there was no more chicken. Remember, this is prime time on a Friday. The server offered pulled chicken instead. While confusing, I said it was a fine alternative. The manager came over briefly, but I indicated the server had offered an alternative and we were fine. Not too long after, my families food arrived -but not mine. The server and manager came back, and the manager explained there was some confusion. In fact, they could not do ANY platters that night. If you haven't been there before, they have combo meet platters (e.g. brisket, pork, chicken, ribs). I was confused... remember those chickens we were watching cook when we came in? They looked like they were about ready to pull off the spit. But even if they weren't, they should have been able to offer pulled chicken. In fact, my wife had a salad wife pulled chicken on it! But fine, they don't have chicken. I ordered a combo with brisket. At the moment, I was flustered and didn't have the wherewithal to ask for the brisket. The manager was adamant they couldn't offer the platter. At that point, I was not especially hungry and my family was in the middle of eating. Even so, I ordered some wings that I had they promptly pack to go when they arrived at the table. We left frustrated and not eager to return. The food was fine but -as a former server- this was a bizarre scenario. Apparently they had a very busy lunch service. But even so, we were there 4-5 hours later. One would think they'd have time to roast some additional chickens. I do that in less than 2 hours at home! But even if they were completely out of chicken (or close), the server should have known when he came to the table and the additional menus were given at the beginning of the meal. I'm not sure if the failure was with the manager or the server but they did not take care of this guest! Might be a very good restaurant but or experience barely warrants the 2-star review. read more

Alone in Eau Claire for work for the week and driving around came across Grizzly's located near the mall. They had a little outdoor party going with a band playing on the lawn and an outdoor crawfish dinner special. I unfortunately was too late in the evening to enjoy much of the band or any of the crawfish. I went in and sat at the bar. The place is nicely decorated with a feel of up north mixed with a little southwest. Odd, but that was my take. The bartender was very polite & quick to serve, although not very engaging in side conversation. I guess I get that, being I ordered a soda versus milling at the bar for awhile with a cold one. Had I ordered a burger I bet I would have been more satisfied & my review would have another star. I didn't order the burger, I went with the ribeye. The steak comes with a side salad, cheesy hashbrowns and a carrot/broccoli mix. The preparation time was quick, incredibly quick. The bartender brought me my salad and within two minutes a waitress was bringing out my steak. The vegetables on the salad appeared crunchy and fresh while the crutons were a little on the stale side. My steak had good flavor and was a good cut of meat. The cheesy hashbrowns were crispy on top, but could have been cooked a little more thoroughly throughout. I know I could have said something, just not my style unless there's a major issue. The cooked side veggies were what they were (does anyone really rate those?) My steak dinner came to about $27. I was there about 8 pm which must have been near the end of the staff's night. Many of the staff were sitting around the bar area talking about evening/weekend plans. It was a little off putting, feeling as though I was taking a spot in the middle of someone else's group. I wouldn't say it was a poor experience. I think if I would have got there for more of the outdoor festivities and was having a few cold ones I would have enjoyed it more. I heard who I think was an owner/manager talking to someone else about society dining habits changing and less people going out for bigger dinners. This returns to my initial sentiment that I bet this place would nail a burger spot on. Grizzly's finer dining options need a little polish. read more

Went in last night 8/28 for dinner at 8:30. As soon as I walked in the door I was catching heat from the hostess about it being close to closing. Took about 5-7 minutes to get our seats. After seated we waited another 5 minutes to take our drinks. ( we had enough time to figure out what we wanted). After he took out oder we didn't see him until our food arrived that's when I told him I had a chunk of food from the previous gust in my Pepsi... that was nice...
