Food was not as good as I remembered. It was great that they were open until 10pm but the food wasn't good. I brought a friend here to catch up to get hibachi. The vegetables were spread mixed with the shrimp and chicken. The sauce was very tangy and not very hibachi, more like a sweet glade. It also came out very quick, it was warm, but not hot. My friend ordered two sushi rolls but they were over cooked and too crunchy. She could hit them with the chopsticks and hear how hard they were. I completed the survey or the free holiday roll. Mine too was over cooked. So my friend asked I she could get something else. When they brought out the shrimp fried rice, she took a few bites and didn't like it either. Neither dish was what we expected and I don't remember coming here and the food wasn't good. Instead of taking the dishes of she didn't enjoy, the owner went back and forth about paying for the supplies he used to cook the meal. I've never been somewhere and the restaurant still charged for an uneaten meal. As a courtesy, he said he didn't charge her for the rice. Out of all the places we could go, I won't be back and it reminded me what I hadn't been here in awhile. Do better and stop frying the sushi so hard. I ordered two raw rolls and clear soup. The soup was delicious but the rolls. Well. They were a little off. I cannot put my finger on it exactly. I won't say they were going bad but the taste wasn't exactly fresh and/or clean. Luckily I didn't get sick but I'll probably not return either. We just love this place! We can always count on fresh and delicious sushi. Service was great! They were busy but you wouldn't have been able to notice because the service was prompt and the seating was right away. Great ambiance and the people are friendly. The restaurant and bathroom is clean. We had the spicy chicken appetizer (complimentary), mango roll which was sweet and tangy, Fuji Special Roll (yummy) and the classic Philadelphia roll. All 5 star! We also had Spicy Chicken Appetizer which is a staple when we come. Always delecta If you are a sweet tea drinker beware you will find yourself downing their tea. It's amazing!!! Sat down for dine in and ordered the miso soup and gyoza to start. The miso soup is amazing! The fried gyoza, l while delicious, was lacking in meat; there was a lot of breading , but overall the taste is still still appealing! I ordered the shrimp fried rice while very delicious I asked for no onions and it came with them... it happens but I love for restaurants to be on top of those things. My boyfriend ordered a pork shogayki (apologies of spelled wrong), we thought it was fried but is not. Our waitress was really sweet. Miss Lola had a light, and sweet energy with lovely blue eyeshadow. She was definitely a sunshine in the night time. Our service was fast, we had more than one waitress come to us just to make sure we were OK and if we need anything else; I really appreciated that. Water didn't get refilled at all til at the end,it was just four of us in the restaurant and he seemed so stressed. Didn't really enjoy the non fresh salmon and fried rice wasn't cooked throughly. We asked to change a sushi roll ( Fuji special roll) to something else, they declined that and said we can't take it off the receipt too. Legit ate half piece of the first piece... Grubhub was offering a promo. This restaurant happened to be the closest Japanese restaurant on the app with what seemed to be decent reviews. Ordered the chicken & shrimp hibachi along with a dynamite roll. The app displayed the order was ready for pickup. Drove up there only to find out the order was not ready and was asked to sit and wait. Luckily it wasn't longer than 10 minutes but kind of bull that they would update the app stating order was ready when it actually wasn't. I got home and everything was there. Except they did not include any wasabi for the dynamite roll. I could already tell by looking at the food that it wasn't going to be good. The hibachi was laughable. Something I could have picked up from a Chinese restaurant and probably would have tasted better for cheaper. It was mostly vegetables with barley any chicken or shrimp. 3/10 if I were to rate it. The dynamite roll was terrible. There was way too much batter or whatever that outside stuff was. After eating one or two pieces it went into the trash along with pretty much everything else. Ordered a bento box. The vegetable tempura was very under cooked, and had a little raw tempura batter at the center. The ginger dressing on the salad tasted like pure salt. The dressing was also very dark. It really looked and tasted like someone just dumped a bunch of soy sauce into the ginger dressing. The bento came with dumplings that were not listed on the menu. The dumplings had pork inside. Not everybody eats pork. There's nothing wrong with serving pork to people who do eat it, but you need to list that it is an ingredient on the menu. I would have ordered something different if I had known, but I had no way of knowing. Told my server I was done with most of the food still on the plate. Didn't ask for a box, and I wasn't offered one. When a customer doesn't touch most of the food on their plate, and they didn't want a box, that should be a MAJOR clue that something is wrong. But the server clearly has no experience and the manager couldn't be bothered to do anything. read more

He asked if I didn't like it and I said yes. No apologies or offer to make it right. The meal was almost $20. Also since getting there the server kept coming by to eagerly place our order. We're still eating our meal and he tried taking plates away. I've never had any restaurant make you feel so unwelcome. The bill came quickly as the appetizer. I don't see the hype about this place. Fuji Sushi is located in the Roosevelt Shopping Mall, specifically in the square/strip that faces Publix. It's small, but cozy and clean. The people who work here are very friendly and no matter how much yelling you might hear from behind the curtains, they always come out with big smiles on their faces. (It reminds me of a family restaurant with relatives bickering. LOL) The workers are all are efficient and keep the tables clean and your drinks filled. My daughter and I like to come here for lunch when we are in the area, specifically for their bento boxes. I love those, you never quite know what you are going to get. The menu shows the main protein for the box and you know you will always get at least a salad, clear or miso soup (your choice), and sometimes fried or white rice (also your choice) but everything else is up in the air. It's an enjoyable surprise. There is always at least some tempura veggies in a box that we've discovered. I love their tempura, it's always super light and not greasy. Exactly which veggie you'll receive can be a guessing game. Today, we were actually stumped by one. I think it might have been a type of squash? We had a good laugh over the perfect tempura mushroom, sitting by itself in a little pond of ranch dressing. So sweetly American in this little Japanese box. Their sushi is pretty decent, I've had small rolls in other bento boxes and have had complimentary samples when we've come in. Today, my daughter decided to just order sushi from the lunch special (Spicy tuna, California, Philadelphia). She loved it, I wasn't all that thrilled and thought it rather ordinary. They have other dishes on the menu, but I am not sure if I will try them. Not many other places in town do bento boxes that I have found, so I might just save my Fuji Sushi for that. This place has really awesome and fresh sushi. The place is very cozy although a little bit small particularly during lunch time when it gets really really busy. Went here one time for lunch and ordered their salmon sashimi and shrimp tempura bento box. It was really fresh and delicious. The serving was generous. Customer service was excellent - other than the server making sure my food came out promptly, the manager walks around to see and check if everything is doing alright and if I needed anything. Always ready to give me a refill of drink and I don't have to call them if I needed it. Very very impressed! I frequent the San Marco Fuji Sushi for all you can eat, But this was my first time to the Roosevelt location. Upon entering Fuji Sushi I was very impressed with the decor, cleanliness, staff appearance, and over all ambience of the restaurant. I was greeted promptly, and the staff was very patient in answering all my questions and gave plenty of time to make a decision for me and my children. When the food arrived it was very fresh, beautifully prepared and plated with great detail, I was very impressed. The staff was so kind, they even give us complimentary sushi pieces and soup! When people think of Fuji Sushi in Jax most think of all you can eat. This location is nothing like that. It's a place that you order and pay by the roll, which I prefer. I been coming to this location over 9 years when I use to live off of Avondale and now I drive all the way from the beaches. One of my favorite places. Recently, the restaurant was sold to a new family. Writing this review as the current experience and not past. The food was good. But what got me was there was one server working all the tables with no help which took away from the experience. There were other people that worked there too. Really nice sushi place. I came here for lunch and for the chicken teriyaki bento box with yellowtail Nigri and a fried shrimp and avocado roll. Clear soup was included too. I enjoyed everything I ate thoroughly. It was well put together and I know I'll be coming back soon. The atmosphere was very quiet and appealing to me. There were only a few people when I went in. My server was very nice and checked on me ever so often. The decor was also nice to look at. There were faux flowers on the table which was a nice compliment. Most fixtures were wooden. I saw a small room that had traditional Japanese seating in it, so if u ever take a big party, I'd love to try eating in that room. All in all, the food was great, as was the service. An absolutely spectacular spot. Everything we got, sushi, noodles, stir fry, soup, salad, was excellent. I'm a fan of asian cuisine, but this was above and beyond my expectations. The black diamond roll with black rice was something i've never seen before and am glad I got to try. Great customer service and hospitality. They let us sample the dynamite roll for free! Wonderful aesthetics too--the wooden kneel booths were an authentic twist i've never seen in a restaurant. They need to make sure all items/ingredients are listed in food descriptions. When ordering the chicken teriyaki bento they included a free item, very kind. What was less kind and fun was that it was fried banana, and my friend is allergic to banana. Nowhere on their menu do they serve this dish, and there was no way to know before it was accidentally half-eaten. It looked fairly similar to the dumplings that came in the dish. When I called to speak with the restaurant they confirmed it was banana and said it was a free item. She said it was not always included which is why it was not listed in the description. When informed of the banana allergy she asked if my friend ate it. When I said yes, the only response was "oh no". There was no apology or offer for compensation, or asking if my friend was going to be okay. Restaurants carry a hefty responsibility to handle food allergies seriously, as this could've led to Christmas spent in the ER. Please include all items/ingredients on your menu and train staff to respond to these issues appropriately. read more

We were given raw rolls that should've been cold as they weren't cooked. They were warm and smelled bad. Not sure it this is a common theme as I've only been twice total. The first time everything was great. Great quality sushi and very fresh. Great customer service as there were 6 of us. 5 out of 5 rating. This time though I got takeout. The rolls were very disappointing and inedible as I don't want to get food poisoning I threw it out. They smelled like they were left out too long at room temperatures. 1 out of 5 stars. So giving a 3 star rating. If I was still there I would've requested them to remake if possible. I'm going to go back to see if there's a repeat of this visit before giving up on this spot. Or maybe just avoid takeout. If the same thing happens again I'd skip in the future. I'd recommend based off experience 1st experience just not this one. read more

We are huge fans of sushi. Fuji sushi is the only restaurant that we eat in. Everything we have ever had there has been super fresh, very tasty, presented in a lovely artistic fashion with large servings and always super fresh fish. Over the years we have eaten most everything on the sushi menu but absolutely our two favorites are pepper salmon and pepper tuna. They also have fabulous sake!! Heidi and her family who own the restaurant are always friendly, outgoing and extremely efficient.
