This was our second time here, and it was just as amazing as the first! The sushi is incredibly fresh and such great quality for the price. The Las Vegas Roll was absolutely delicious, and I also had a deep-fried roll that I can't remember the name of, but it was amazing too. We shared a Philadelphia Roll, and you could really taste how fresh everything was. My husband is obsessed with the spicy ramen and says it's one of his favorites. On top of the great food, our waitress, Joy, was fantastic! Insanely good quality, very affordable, and we will absolutely be back. I've been here a couple of times now and I have liked everything I've had so far. I like a couple of the sushi places around here, especially with all you can eat options. Because, well, as much as I like sushi, I am still not well versed in different types and like to try different ones to find one that I would like. Thankfully we have great sushi options now in Spring, and Fujiya is one of the most underrated ones in my opinon. When I only have a little bit of time to go out, I like to come here so I could just grab a quick bite to eat and head out. I also really enjoy the service, its very good because our wait staff have always been very attentive. This last time I got a poke bowl, and it was very cute. At first I thought it was small, but when I was in eating it, it seemed to be the perfect about all food for lunch. We really liked the crispy crab sticks as well. I've had sushi as well and pretty much get basic sushi like shaggy dog and rainbow roll, but these are always good over here. The vibe of the place is very chill and "cool" feeling, the decor and wall art is fun but classy. I will continue coming here! read more

This place is usually a hit or miss for me. The first time I went there, I had sushi... I really enjoyed it, especially because they don't give me grief for ordering my sushi with soy paper. as much as i love sushi, I can not even begin to tolerate the seaweed part of sushi, so I always substitute soy or rice paper. A few return visits, they mentioned it while I was ordering even before I did.. that part I like. The food for the most part is always delicious, and the service is always consistent. The thing that I do take issue with is every single time, and I do mean every single time.. the smell of the cleaning solution is overpowering. I appreciate a restaurant keeping things clean, but I believe they are using the concentrate cleaner straight, its truly that overpowering. And a few times on top of that, the overhead music is way too loud and I think they blew their speakers, because the distortion was too much. I think at best they should be aware of their customers body language because that would tell them a lot, and take their cues from that. We made it obvious when we were in there that the music was too loud and distracting, yet they did nothing. Overall, yes, I do recommend them for a good sushi meal, and the ramen is decent too, not my all time favorite, but in a pinch, their ramen will do. I go there for convenience and sushi. read more

After a long day in the med-center we pulled off of 99 on our way back home and after some brief hemming and hawing, landed on Fujiya Ramen and sushi. It apparently used to be another Japanese restaurant at some point that changed. When we got inside we were promptly greeted and seated by a polite hostess/server. The restaurant is cute and clean, with some cool Japanese decorations and murals throughout (the koi mural near the restrooms is particularly cool) and even the little hand-written/drawn special cards at each table seem to have been created thoughtfully. We ordered drinks and a couple of appetizers to start. Sodas are free refills from a fountain so that was already a pretty big W as that is somewhat rare in these types of restaurants. We started with the gyoza and their Ninja Jalapeños. The gyoza were small but tasty, and as my 10 year old remarked "pan fried very well", and he was not wrong; they were nicely crisped on all the edges, evident of a good pan frying. The ninja jalapeños were also pretty tasty with a good helping of cream cheese and crab mixture on a sliced jalapeno that is then tempura battered and fried, with a drizzling of spicy mayo. So far we're all pleasantly surprised with our visit. For our entrees, i ordered the spicy curry miso ramen (my son ordered the same), I got a side of fried rice and my wife got the lo mein. The spicy curry miso ramen comes with a katsu chicken cutlet on the side with some dipping sauce which was pretty cool. The chicken was pounded out thin and crispy fried and went well with the dipping sauce (no clue what the sauce was). The ramen was carefully prepared as you could tell from the way each ingredient was perched atop the next, the broth was exactly what was advertised: a creamy, curry flavored broth full of flavor, with noodles, mushrooms, corn and a few other accoutrements. The side of fried rice I got was some of the best fried rice I've had in a while. Definitely freshly made fried rice, not just sitting in a giant vat; this rice was light and fluffy and full of flavor with some chicken and veggies laced throughout. I will get a larger order of the fried rice next time. The wife was very happy with her lo mein as well which had a nice tasty sauce without being too heavy or sweet, with al dente noodles and a variety of meat. Our server made sure our drinks were full and that we didn't go without anything, but without being overbearing. When I asked about dessert she suggested the not-on-the-menu fried Oreo, which we ended up getting and it was 4 perfectly fried, gooey, chocolatey cookies served with a chocolate mochi in the center. This place really surprised us, I expected an average, dime a dozen ramen bar but you can tell they really take pride in their craft here and are working hard to stand out from the rest. Horrible. My wife and I ordered takeout from Fujiya based on the Yelp and Google reviews. Big mistake. The chicken katsu and the broccoli tempura were extremely overcooked. They were a dark brown and tasted burnt. The gyoza tasted like they had been cooked a day or two before and then reheated. They were dried out and tough like cardboard. The chicken fried rice was prepared with ingredients that were spoiled. The smell when I opened the package was nauseating. The sushi was ok, but not great. Base on the taste of the gyoza, the sushi, and the other items, I was reminded of grocery store sushi. I strongly recommend that everyone avoid this place and be very cautious of their food safety practices. read more

I really liked that they had a happy hour after 8:50pm. The restaurant aesthetic was also very cute and set the mood. My brother ordered the vegetable tempura and said that this was probably one of his favorites as he was a big fan of the batter and asparagus over the standard sweet potato as he is not typically a sweet potato fan. I ordered the rest to try, and I thought the dragon roll was actually very flavorful and fresh, a good 4.5/5 for me and it's something I'd order again. The Agedashi is something I've never had before but loved, the slightly sweet sauce with the savory tofu was new but enjoyable, 5/5. As for the tonkatsu, I would have to give it a 2.5/5, tonkatsu is my favorite ramen and I've had it from countless ramen bars. Had I not ordered it myself, if someone told me this was labeled tonkatsu ramen I wouldn't have believed them. Do not get me wrong, it was actually very delicious despite this, and I really liked the rolled pork belly as some ramen bars only do sliced chashu. Setting aside the label that it is tonkatsu, my only critique would be that the cabbage was a strange vegetable choice, and it would be more of a 3.5/5. Was it delicious? Absolutely, but is this tonkatsu ramen? It is not. Despite this though, my overall experience was extremely positive and there's a lot on their menu I'm looking forward to trying in the future. It is close to home and very cheap, yet the quality was there. All four of these dishes only totaled to about $35. First time here, wanted to try something new in the Spring/Kuykendahl Area Came in during a very busy night. Service was excellent even though they were short staffed and running around. They were very courteous and apologetic about the wait, doing their best to get us our food as soon as possible. our server also gave us a card for $10 off our next meal. It's a nice hole in the wall with booths and a sushi bar. The food was decent, though a bit on the pricier side for this side of town: - Curry Spicy Miso Ramen (4/5) - thin noodles were a little bland, but the curry soup was well seasoned, not too spicy, and the fried katsu was served on the side to keep it crispy - Veggie Ramen (3/5) - soup was too salty, we had to ask for a cup of hot water to dilute it for my mom, but our server was nice and helped us with some chili paste to try to help after the soup became too bland - Garlic Black Bean Ramen (4/5) - beware, very pungent garlic taste, so only get it if this is to your liking. the add-ons were nice, but the noodles were a bit overcooked and lacked flavor - Tonkotsu Ramen (4/5) - nice fatty chashu, but same issue with the noodles being overcooked and lacking in flavor despite having the tonkotsu broth - Shaggy Dog (5/5) - nice size rolls with a lot of tempera flakes for a good crunch read more

It's a little quaint sushi spot. All the rolls we tried were good. We had the eel avocado, salmon and houston rolls. My favorite is definitely the houston roll. Sashimi was fresh too. I tried the curry ramen but was not a fan of their noodles or broth but Ive yet to try the tonkotsu and hope that changes my opinion. read more

This place went in the Grand Parkway where Ichigo was, and kept some of the decor. There is menu overlap as well. We had a family dinner there to give it a try though it is still in the soft opening phase. We started out with the cream cheese puffs and the chasu buns. Then had the curry spicy miso ramen, the veggie ramen, and the house fried rice. Finished with a tempura cheesecake. The cream cheese puffs were good, freshly fried with a good crunch and flavorful insides--not a lot of crab meat but a good start. The chasu buns were very disappointing. They were dense and chewy. I think they were microwaved, which you can do with a baked item if you get it out at exactly the right time. These were way over. The ramen soups were the highlight of the meal. The broth in both soups had great depth of flavor, with the miso complementing rather than overwhelming the other ingredients. The added vegetables were very tasty. There were some signs of rushing--the eggs started out cold, and relied on the soup to warm them up. The texture in the egg yolk was a little off but the flavor was great. The spicy miso soup came with a chicken curry--some chicken breaded with panko and fried, and a very nice and not spicy curry sauce. On the other hand, the soup really brought the heat. If you like it when your throat burns then their spicy dishes will deliver. Very large portions, definitely 2 or 3 meals. The fried rice was fine, a pretty standard version. Good flavor and mouth feel, not a huge portion but plenty for one. The tempura cheesecake was a nice idea but this recipe doesn't work yet. The tempura was not very crunchy and the cheesecake was warm inside. The cheesecake has to be frozen very hard in order to make this recipe work, much like a baked Alaska. I think they will figure it out. The soft opening is still very real for the restaurant. They are not fully staffed yet. The waitress apologized a lot for the slow kitchen, even bringing a complimentary seaweed salad (it was OK, Sushi Haya's is better). She didn't really need to, I've seen a lot worse. But the rushing caused some problems as noted. The decor is cute--they kept one of Ichigo's murals and pasted their name over it, and put in a new mural on the opposite wall. The men's room was clean and ready, no decoration there. You might wait and let them get past the grand opening for a special occasion. Definitely get the ramen. read more

Right off the bat, the atmosphere is very welcoming. There are many unique decorations giving the restaurant its own feel. The service is just over the top, the waiters are very kind, I went two times and they remembered me, they are very kind to anyone who enters their restaurant. And lastly, the food, I have never been to a better ramen place, I feel that more people need to come here. With everything that they already do to make customers happy, they deserve to have way more customers than they already do, the food is way better than big restaurants who try to make reheated ramen, this ramen is very fresh. The food was not good. The soda from the soda machine tasted off, but when they "fixed" it, the soda still tastes bad. The bento box as a whole was alright I guess? It was hot when it came out but there was no salt on any of the items, the fried items were oily, and the salad dressing didn't have a balanced flavor profile. Found this place after Ichigo close down, which is a shame, but luckily this place is just as good, if not, even better! I had the curry ramen (it is spicy ) and the noodles were really Al dente and hot the entirety of the meal. The chicken was good, crispy, but a little chewy in some places since it is a thin cut of meat. the curry sauce that comes with it is a tad sweet, but nonetheless also goes well. The service was great, friendly staff and they helped answer all my questions and did not get annoyed. I recommend the iced green tea (with sugar of course) . over all a very nice ambient and a perfect place for friends and family read more
