First time visiting this place and it was very unassuming from the outside. Much bigger inside than expected. Nicely decorated and super friendly staff. We received a couple of complimentary items (appetizer and bluefin tuna nigiri), which were such an unexpected nice surprise. The sushi and sashimi combo (5 pieces of nigiri sushi, 12 sashimi pieces and a salmon maki roll) was a lot of food - it also comes with miso soup and salad. Easily enough for 2 people to share. My husband and I just moved to the area and are looking for our next favorite spot. We stopped by for dinner and while there were definitely some highlights, the experience was a bit mixed overall. When you first walk in, there's a strong, somewhat odd smell, a mix of chemicals and fish, that hits right away. Our server was friendly and attentive, and they even brought out complimentary egg rolls that were piping hot and delicious. My husband ordered a side green salad, which turned out to be huge--he really enjoyed the dressing, too. For sushi, my husband went with the Yam Yam Roll, a cooked roll with cream cheese, avocado, cucumber, spicy snow crab, spicy mayo, and tempura flakes. He said it packed more heat than expected, but in a good way! I ordered a California Roll and a Crunch Roll (shrimp tempura, cucumber, snow crab, tempura flakes, and eel sauce). The sushi tasted both fresh and frozen at the same time--an odd combo I couldn't quite figure out. The eel sauce also tasted off, which didn't help. Overall, I'm not ready to write this place off just yet. The menu has a lot to offer, and the lunch specials look like a great deal. Tried a new ramen spot based on the local reviews. When we got there around 630 it was a packed house (good sign). Service was a little slow but understandable as there were 2 gentleman working the dining area and they were quite busy. We got seated and ordered some apps. Chicken karaage and the jalapeño bombs. Chicken karaage is a must have appetizer when I get Japanese food, as when done properly, it's so good. This chicken karaage was a huge disappointment; it was tiny little chunks of chicken that were spongy as if they'd been sitting under a heat lamp for hours; no crunch and rather chewy. The jalapeño bombs on the other hand were hot, fresh and quite tasty. Their spicy mayo has a little extra kick to it which is nice, as someone who appreciates some heat. After the apps were done we got our entrees ordered. I went with the Miyazaki ramen, extra spicy and added corn. The broth was flavorful and creamy, the egg was properly cooked and overall was pretty tasty; the ground pork has a bit of a rubbery texture which I wasn't crazy about but overall a decent ramen. Wife had a couple sushi rolls that looked good and she seemed to enjoy. My son had the chicken katsu ramen which also had a surprisingly tasty broth and crispy chicken katsu. Overall a decent meal, though I think my expectations may have been a little high. We may give it another try at some point. read more

Some even stopped eating and spit out pieces of fish and food because of it. Mentioning dining room footage and claiming we "appeared to enjoy the meal" felt dismissive and unprofessional. People can politely finish parts of a meal, smile, and still leave disappointed.
