What a great experience. Tonight was our first night trying this resturant and it was amazing. Absolutely a great experience from food to service. The server was kind and helpful. The place is cozy.. clean and well kept... BUT... there is always a BUT... in as much as I wanted to get excited about this place... I just can't. I judge most, if not all ramen shops by how well their tonkutsu presents itself.. and well.. this place scored a lot lower than what I had hoped. The broth, while the traditional white in color was woefully lacking in umami and left a lot to be desired. The ramen noodles were oddly soft without the expected "chew" factor one would expect. Rather it was questionably soft and almost had a "slime"? sensation at the back of the mouth. The ribeye robata...regular and the honey miso glazed version was also lacking in flavor. I tried to hope that maybe the grill flavor would add some depth and salvage the already bland flavor of the cut.. it sadly did not. I got as finishing at least half the ramen (chashu, corn, seaweed and green onions as well as a couple of bites of the noodles). MAYBE I will come back some time later in the future should my patient roster bring me back this way.. but for now.. I would rate this place as more of a maybe than an actual foodie destination. read more

My husband and I love coming here! The food is always fantastic, prices are fair, and the service is usually fast. I'm only writing this because of an experience I had yesterday. While eating my ramen, I found a hair in it. I set it aside and kept eating because I understand that accidents happen and was willing to overlook it. However, after packing up the rest of my meal to eat later, I found more hair in the ramen while at home. It was really disappointing because I genuinely love this place and want to keep coming back. The sweet chili sauce needed to have more sweetness and chili spice to it. The chicken however was very juicy and needed to be a bit crispier. The noodles for the miso ramen were cooked very nicely. The meat portion was hefty. The flavor of the broth was a bit lacking. The ratios for the spicy mixture was a bit off in the spicy cucumber. The cucumber was crunchy goodness. I love robata's! The same plate servings are perfect when you can't decide how hungry you are because you can just keep ordering more food! We were wandering the Woodlands during the power-outage post hurricane and saw that Aji was open and decided to try it out. It gave chill-hangout vibes with some anime art, beer taps, and tv playing Moana. The girl working was friendly and said we could choose our table then followed with the menus. She gave us a minute to look it over while she grabbed our drinks. After our first round of food was placed, she checked up on the other tables then made her way back with some plates. The food tasted so fresh and good, we had maybe 4 rounds of plates brought over and we ate them so quickly that I forgot to grab pictures of everything. Why 3 stars? Because it deeply saddens me, but I was not a fan of most of the food. --- --- --- At the end of a recent tear through many of my bookmarked places, I was very excited to come here. I strategically waited for the weather to cool down so that the ramen would taste even better. So the cold front came and we made the trek down on the way into Houston. The result, was one I desperately wish was different. We started off with some chicken karaage. It was not bad. 3.5-stars. I really wanted to try some of the skewers but stuck to just one, the pork belly. It was okay but a bit of a let down considering how many people loved it in their reviews. 3-stars. Then we get the ramen. I ordered Tonkotsu and the wife went with a Miso. It's hard to imagine a bigger disappointment. I didn't realize that I needed to request egg noodles (my fault) because that's what my wife had, while mine did not. Her noodles were good, not great, but I did not think any other aspect of either of these dishes was done well. The flavor of the broth, the meat, etc - it all added up to one of the worst meals I've had in 2022. Ugh, I hate even writing that. 2-stars. For dessert we had ice cream and mochi and that was a nice way to finish off the meal. The ice cream had these little cookies in it that were a great compliment. 4.5-stars. I am rounding up from 2-stars to 3 because the man who was kind of doing everything (food running, serving and schmoozing) was awesome. He was not only friendly and attentive to us, but he was interacting with our son a lot and helping him get into a better mood, something desperately needed because he was grouchy and temperamental throughout the day. I noticed he seemed to have a great rapport with many regular customers and he could teach a master class on front-of-house management. My son took me here, it was right down the street from him job and he frequents this place. It was super cute, in a shopping center and plenty of parking. Service was really friendly and quick. Food was pretty good. I felt my noodles were a tad over cooked and the pork was a little on the dryer side. We ordered gyoza to start with and we both got tonkatsu ramen. Good ramen, not very attentive service. Who doesn't follow up with another beer when someone orders spicy ramen?

My wife and I would eat here at least once a week and regularly with our kids, friends and work colleagues. Last week my wife asked to exchange chicken for pork in a ramen dish and the server (all of them are lovely) had to ask the manager. The manager is a miserable sod that after years of our repeat business he never says hello, I've never seen him smile and he simply takes customers for granted. His body language and dirty look towards me when he refused to allow the change (it's the same cost!!), was out of line and close to feeling a little...best not say it...we won't be back and that's a real shame. The owners should fire the manager and if he is the owner, he should hire a manager. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by this place! The ramen was good and plentiful in my opinion. My daughter had the kid's ramen which was the tradition tonkotsu ramen and she loves it! She never ever eats soup and she ate half the soup and said to the waiter the ramen was delicious. Wow! This is big for us since she is a picky eater. I liked her broth better than my kimchi ramen broth, but mine was still good. When I go back I will order tonkotsu for sure! It was really flavorful. Arrived at the location 40 minutes before the closing time shown at the door (8:20pm)and we were told they were only taking orders to go because it was almost 9pm and the kitchen was about to close. There were other people seated still waiting for their food to be served. I asked why it would matter that the kitchen was about to close if they were offering food to go anyways. This place is one of the reasons Ramen has become so popular in general. Good atmosphere with great options at an above average value. It was late afternoon on a Sunday and we didn't drink, but there are good draft and bottle beer options as well as wine. There were the traditional appetizer options (try the sweet potato tempura) but we were intrigued by the skewer options (try the ribeye) and of course the straight up Ramen bowls. The Aji Tonkotsu for $11 (pork with traditional broth) was outstanding but if you are looking for something a little spicier, try the Tan Tan Ramen (ground pork). My son has been wanting to try this spot out for awhile but I'm not a huge ramen fan. We stopped in for lunch and the food and service were great. We had the spicy miso chicken skewer ramen, miso ramen, sweet chili chicken karage, pork belly skewer and honey wasabi ribeye skewer. The sweet chili chicken was awesome. A very strange situation occurred in this restaurant tonight, my son his father and I went to eat at aji robota as we had done many times before, we are simi regulars, my boyfriend more than I but nevertheless tonight's visit started was no different from all the other times we had visited the staff very nice and who I would assume is the owner always stops to chat with us as we order and dine in, well tonight he focused his conversation on our son telling him he had to eat all his food to become stronger and we all laughed and chatted as he reached across our table to grab our son arms calling them flabby, we all laugh again, yet at this point I'm starting to feel a bit uncomfortable because he the owner would not stop trying to reach over to touch my son and tell him to Eat his food, so I immediately request a Togo box so he can move away. Well I get up and my boyfriend like that was weird, I agreed and said let get out of here, my son get up behind me as I head towards the door and out of my peripheral vision I see the owner literally walk up behind my 8 years old son, wrap his arms around his back to the front of his body and he start to squeeze his stomach again and down towards his pants, I turned around and literally had to snatch my son from his arms! I was completely shocked at the moment and so was his dad, it happened so fast that I couldn't even stop this man from groping my son! WE WILL NEVER BE GOING BACK THERE! That was completely inappropriate behavior and I cannot get the sight out of my mind how close his hands were to my son's private parts! I am completely and utterly disgusted by this behavior! WORST OWNER i have ever experienced. i was followed to my personal vehicle when im already inside my car with a friend . He comes to my window and said i did not complete my tab.Almost throwing the booklet at me. He then yells at me to count the money so I grabbed the money and counted it again.
