Ah, it was good, but we waited in line and just before we were going to get grouped to stand in a lane, the ride broke down. We witnessed the coaster launch but not clear the first loop and then the descent began. The ride crept slowly, backwards, at a snails pace. The people waiting in the car to approach the station were stuck waiting. The sun was glaring hot and I could only imagine how much both cars were burning up from direct sunlight and no shade. I kid you not, I think it took almost 30 minutes for that car to come backwards into the station and it looks like the crew could not do anything to speed it up. Once we got on, it was cool. It goes forwards then backwards and it's pretty quick. read more

This ride right here is in my top 3. It's a launch coaster which means no jerky movement throughout the ride. It boasts one of the highest top loop in the country. It takes you through the track on the bottom look then back on the top. It really is a unique ride. It's tight at the front of the park and they can only send one train at a time. I hate this ride with a burning passion. Waited 2 hours for it and ended up getting hurt very badly! The conductor did not give a full countdown (quickly said 3..2.. and launched us), and I wasn't prepared at all. My head ended up slamming the back headboard HARD!! I spent the entire ride trying to keep my head from hitting anything and when the ride stopped, I immediately started crying from the pain I was in. I am not typically a crier, and it takes a lot of pain for me to do so. The employees that saw me said nothing and didn't check to make sure I was okay as I was gripping my head waiting to be let off the ride. Full Throttle is hands down my favorite ride at Six Flags Magic Mountain. It is not the tallest ride in the park, it is not the fastest ride in the park but it definitely was the most unique ride in the park. It is a launch coaster, topping speeds at 70 mph. Not only does the coaster launch once, it launches a total of three whopping times providing an experience that no other ride can offer. With a loop that goes 160 ft in the air, you're definitely in for a treat when riding this ride. When you're in the queue, you can't see the other half of the ride so you have no idea what happens on the second part of the ride, which is actually better because you're definitely in for surprises on that hidden side. The queue for this ride is usually always long and I can see why -- it provides a thrill experience that no other ride does in this park. I definitely think this is my favorite ride in the park and I would definitely come back just to ride Full Throttle! read more

Living life Full Throttle is always a good choice when stepping foot onto the Magic Mountain grounds as this coaster quickly jumps to Full Throttle speed! This coaster is located near the front of the park making it a good first stop once your inside and also a good last ride when your ready to take off! One of the things i found that I liked the most about this ride is the fact that they have two separate bins for you to put your belongings in and when the other train comes to unload wile you are riding I have seen a ride operator stand in front of the bins keeping the unloading guests from getting into it. That is definitely a plus as most the rides your stuck renting a locker or just leaving your items to the side hoping they will be there upon your return. Once you reach the front of the line your ready to concur the worlds tallest looping coaster and first ever "Top Hat" design of awesomeness! As you set foot into the train to buckle up your seat belt and pull down your lap bar you might get some one of the ride operators who likes to play a joke or two on you before your about to take off so it comes without warning making it that much more fun! After you've hit the Full Throttle you make your way to that huge loop to find yourself going through it with the most air time I've ever had in a loop! Once through the huge loop you get a few twist and turns then straight into a corkscrew that spits you out right into the old monorail tunnel where you come to a halt! After this brief pause you get shot backwards into the corkscrew with the sound of Ozzy Osbourne's crazy train laughing at you as you come to a stop in the twist you go barreling down back into the tunnel where you pick up speed then carve a left turn only to find yourself again heading straight for the worlds tallest loop but this time you go right over the top of it and on your way down is where I find the only flaw with this coaster as the air time is cut short with the train slowing down before it comes to a stop at the station. Overall this is an amazing record breaking coaster that I can ride over and over again as it's just super smooth and an all around radical experience again and again. So with that said make sure your living your life Full Throttle as it's just the way to go for an amazing top hat experience! read more

Soooooooooo... I was waiting in line for this coaster and noticed right away that there is a sign that boasted that this is the highest looping coaster in the world. The ride operators have a great sense of humor and energy. Our operator told us to count down from 10. We started and he launched us on 7. We were not ready for that and the G-Force made my ears touch! Once I strapped in and we started off at an incredible speed! Towards the apex of the loop, we slowed down- a LOT!!! Gravity took over on the coaster and my body. I was out of my seat completely! Then we came down and went to the backside of the ride and were headed into a tunnel. That's where this ride took a twist unlike any other that I've experienced. We head into the tunnel and slowed down and came to a complete stop. Then the opening riff of 'Crazy Train' came on and we were launched BACKWARDS up the loop where we came from!!! No one was expecting that and everyone was screaming like crazy!!! We headed back into the tunnel and up the backside of the starting loop. That was in-SANE!!! I will be going back again! My daughter is not tall enough to go on, yet for some reason she can go on X2 (her favorite ride!). Once she reaches the required height, she will be asking to go on again and again! read more

"WHOA!" That pretty much sums up this ride in a nutshell. The fact that the huge loop on this bad boy holds the record right now for tallest and fastest coaster is just a statement until you ride this monster for the first time! The loop itself stands out so much like a sore thumb, that you gotta take it as a challenge and conquer that mother effer just so you can brag about it! Here's an absolute must read tip: Any loose articles that are not well secured in your pockets will definitely fall out when you are upside down in the middle of the loop. The size of this loop is so massive that you actually SLOW DOWN a bit to the point that it feels like you are actually gonna fall out of your seat. I have never felt anything freaky like that on a loop or any coaster for that matter. Definitely something new for you coaster veterans. For your convenience, as you board, there are bins you can put your stuff in and reclaim once you get off. Oh, at the back end of the coaster is another phase of the ride that you will find amusing. Basically, you stop, reverse direction, then take off again going back towards where you came from, only to go over the top of the loop this time and go straight down back to the station. It's only a 1 minute ride (something you will never hear from my wife, Lol), so my recommendation would be to make it your first ride as soon as you enter the park so you can try to hit up again before you leave. Coming back and having to write all of these reviews is making me antsy all over again and all I want to do is ride! Yeah...I said it...I wanna ride! For Full Throttle we got totally lucky and had an Exit Clearance pass after being stuck on Twisted Colossus. After getting buckled in, we knew we were in for a fast ride. The operator asked if we wanted to see a magic trick or hear a scary story. We voted magic trick and he said "Now I see you and now" (and we were off!). It was a fast takeoff I tell ya. We went through all sorts of loops and spins and then we stopped...Only to be shot back and then forward again. It was freaking awesome! I contemplated waiting in line just to ride it again. You can't miss this one! read more

Did you know you could check in for individual rides at Six Flags: Magic Mountain? Well, Matt found out ;) Let's rate all the attractions this magical peak has to offer! (Be sure to check out my other reviews for this theme park.) Ahhh, Full Throttle. This coaster is so good, Katy Perry featured it in her music video "Chained To The Rhythm", though hers features an out-of-this-world, incomplete loop. Oh Katy, you so crazy. In any case, I'd say Full Throttle is pretty *revolutionary*, because first, the coaster makes a full revolution right off the bet (puns!), and second, it's one of the first coasters I've ridden in my life the feature an upside-down loop withOUT a full body (torso) harness. In the first few times riding this bad boy, the fear of falling out is surreal. How can a lap bar fully maintain your entire body's weight against gravity? Turns out, if they strap you down tight enough from waist down, to your knees, then to your feet, it's pretty darn secure. And you know what's the best part? This coaster secures you inside the vehicle all the while still giving you the feeling of falling out in the grand finale drop. The drop feels almost like a 90-degree drop, which is pretty much unheard of before at the time... at least in my knowledge. I dunno if this gives you the feeling of living your life full-throttle as the ride name implies, but it surely gives me a high among the many now tame "thrill" rides that the rest of the park has to offer. The drawback, however, is the short journey Full Throttle has to offer. It may be "full", but very short. So short. It's got like, only 3-4 thrill spots in its entire duration. You loop-the-loop, twist a bit, stop and rock out, go backwards, and you arrive at the final drop. The entire ride feels like it's only 20 seconds long. And if you've waited close to 1 hour for this ride, don't you feel somewhat cheated? This is one of the first rides you'd see when you enter from the main gate, so plan your ride time strategically. Many visitors flock to Full Throttle because it's the first thing they see, and the wait time therefore may suffer. As the queue line may or may not feature enough shelter or shade on sunny days, you decide how much torture, and for how long, you are willing to tolerate. For majority of the time, only 2 trains are operational, and each train can only take 12 passengers per session, I believe. One of the slowest-moving queue lines in the park. Boo. For reasons above, Full Throttle lost 1 star. The experience itself is decent and arguably 5-star material, nonetheless. (Note: All star ratings are relative to other facilities of the same type within the park. For example, if Twisted Colossus is rated as 5 stars and the gold standard, then all other coasters will be rated according to this scale. Same for restaurants, etc. It's all relative! I feel a lot less guilty grading a coaster down this way, since I would still rate Six Flags: Magic Mountain's main page objectively as a whole. Please see that particular review.) read more

Full throttle is my absolute favorite ride at six flags. Definitely worth the wait!! I DEFINITELY recommend to everyone.

Once you pull down the lapbars. You then wait until the train launches out of the station. Eventually, you launch out of the station. The launch is fun, but nothing special. Pretty much your average premier rides launch. You then hit the MASSIVE vertical loop. This element is awesome as you get tons of hangtime and you get a GREAT view of the park while upside down 160ft in the air. You then exit the loop, smile for the camera, and head through two turns You then fly over Superman's Entrance before diving into a tunnel in a similar manner to the snake dive on Storm Runner. You then stop for a few seconds before launching backwards. This is fun, but nothing special. You then rollback from the inversion you climb up and launch again forwards. This third launch is fantastic as you get a crap ton of speed. You then pop up over the loop to get a decent amount of airtime before dropping down into the brake run. That's pretty much my main grudge with this coaster. It's so short and it doesn't offer much except for a very few parts. Now it's still a good ride and I still like it, but it's pretty much a boneless Xcelerator. But hey! It's still a fun ride and I do reccomend riding it since there isn't much like it just as long as the line isn't absurdly long. I loved this kind of ride, when I actually went there for the first time with my friends at grad nite, after the graduation from high school. Also, I introduced my brother to ride this roller coaster and he liked it a lot. You can feel the speed of G-Force and to hear the music, before we go to reverse it and going forwards. read more

YES! YES! YES! Now that's what I'm talking about. Such a fun ride. Not too bumpy but definitely thrilling. It slows down and goes reverse in the middle too. Ahhhhh!! Definitely one of my faves! The design of the line isn't bad either, and they have tv's showing people doing thrilling activities which kill the time. One thing that confused me is that they hand out these numbered boarding passes once you get in line which is supposed to penalize people who cut and avoid that. Good concept, except you never have to show it or anything once you get to the front. You stick it in your pocket and forget it's in your pocket and apparently they do too. So...yea. Enjoy the ride! Full throttle is definitely a bucket list coaster for many. It's the third tallest looping coaster in the world and is right near the entrance, so plan near the end of the day or beginning. The ride itself is very smooth and over quite quickly. Despite its greatness, it loses a star for the wait time. Waited 1 hour 45 minutes for a ride that ends within 30 seconds. Not worth waiting for if you're on a tight schedule. The best part is when you come to a halt and then get launched backward, up an inversion, and then get to ride on top of the loop before heading back to the station. read more

Safety: There's a seatbelt and a lap bar with a handle that sat slightly above my stomach. There is also shin cushion protection that made me feel more secured to the seat. The Ride: Don't be fooled when the worker says, "Let me go over a few rules..." or anything of that sort... This is your cue to hold on tight because as soon as those words are said, you will be launched forward. The first encounter is the inside loop. As the cart gets near the top, it slows down briefly, which is exhilarating and frightening when you remember you're only secured from the waist down. You then zoom into a dark tunnel, where the cart stops and speeds backwards. For extra fun on this part, I would suggest sitting towards the back. You may get more air time since the back part of the cart will be higher up. Then you are launched forward once again and make your way to the "top hat". Heading down the top hat is where you get that air time people speak of. I really felt like I would fly out of my seat. For being a roller coaster chicken, I have to admit that this is a fun ride and has become my favorite. read more

New ride, you say? If you were a bit let down when you found out they completely took out Déjà Vu, look no further! For those who have been on this ride, you would realize that it is the new and improved version of the former Déjà Vu. I really enjoyed this "new ride" and even more so because it is pretty much the first thing you will see once you are inside the park, rather than all the way in the back. Don't be alarmed if you think you're lining up for some sort of concert. There is a big screen that plays a bunch of random life adventures (snowboarding, rafting, sky diving), and this is exactly where the line starts. The footage might get a bit repetitive and annoying after waiting in line for over an hour, but the end is all worth it. The ride starts out thrusting you forward at high speed and has about 3 loops in which you will go through twice (just like Déjà Vu). It was a great way to start out my day at Magic Mountain and might be the first ride for me from now on. I was a bit saddened when I realized it took the place of Log Jammers (the ride where you have to dodge the leaking water and large puddles while waiting in line), but I guess it was for the better. read more

Magic Mountain was having a sad day on the day we visited and among the issue of 4 closed coasters was that of the other thrill rides running, this was one of only two that had more than one car running. Lame as sh*t on MM's part, but at least this ride was a good one, unlike the other 2-car coaster running. We probably rode this ride 6 times and each time the lightspeed take-off is surprising. The back is actually more fun than the front on this ride, but know that there's no priority seating so you can't ask for a particular part of the coaster. You just get what you get in the order that you're in line and you don't get upset. Oh, and don't pull down the hand bar after you put your seatbelt on because you will get yelled at over the intercom and they may even go so far as to call you, 'maam'. Waah. The ride actually lasts a while and you get a few moments where you're just hanging in the air in your seat, which is always a favorite feeling of mine. Big ups to the line attendant, Sam, who was super cool about our riding this thing like 8 times to get the front. read more

Great concept for a coaster. Well, let's get right to it; First of all, like all great stories, every roller coaster should have a beginning, a middle, and an end. This ride gets the beginning right. It's not the fastest launching coaster out there, but there is a reason for this...the manufacturer's only want this sucker to go fast enough to JUST get through the loop at the start. Reason being...HANG TIME. You float around at the top of this loop for probably 5 seconds or so, and it's a wonderful feeling. Beginning rating ~ 10/10 The middle is pretty damn awesome as well. Not as awesome as it could've been with just one extra launch coming at the base of that loop. The problem is you coast it far too slow of a speed and so the second element which is a diving loop doesn't thrill as much as it should. However, the tunnel element saves it. Bumping timed dub step while the coaster is at a complete stop in the tunnel, it suddenly bursts backwards, and back up the diving loop that you just dropped from...only this time, when you come through the tunnel, you hit another launch and fly out of the tunnel, making the middle while far too inconsistent, quite a lot of fun. Middle rating ~ 7/10 Annnnnnd, here's the problem. The end is just crap. They touted the top hat as the pride and joy of this coaster, but the thing is, it is so slow, there is no airtime, and they start stopping you on the way DOWN the decent hill back into station. While your average park goer may not ride coasters enough for this to hinder their experience, for those of you in the 130+ different coasters club, you will no doubt feel ripped off at the end. Ending rating ~ 2/10 If I were to average this score, the ride would get a 6.2, and that's not quite accurate. I will base this on the fact that it has a one of a kind loop, which is admittedly one hell of a way to start the ride, and alone makes it a must ride experience. This ride is staged above rocks and dirt. There is nothing to look at while waiting, except for a giant screen that show videos of crazy daredevil acts in order to pump you up for the ride. (Also: loud music.) It claims the title of: fastest, highest, looping roller coaster in the world. While watching it move by, I thought it looked a little lame, and really short. But if you look closely, you realize that the track continues behind the trees. It doesn't particularly feel like the fastest, highest, looping roller coaster in the world, I think that it's a pretty innovative ride, and very thrilling. It's not a roller coaster to miss. :) read more

This ride shoots you out of the station into a large loop and off you go! I wish it were longer. It's a very short ride, but it is very well done. Prepare to be launched at 70 mph into the tallest loop of all roller coasters. There's this feeling of weightlessness as you approach the tallest point of the loop. In addition, when you reach the tunnel, prepared to be stopped, launched backwards, and then forward again. Definitely a coaster worth the wait. read more

ABSOLUTELY INSANE. Honestly, that's all I can say for this ride. At first sight, the ride seems very tame and nothing to be too excited for; however, I can assure you that the ride is well worth the wait. The line moves very fast for the ride as they generally have multiple trains on the track at one time. Once you're on the ride, sit down, strap in, and hold on tight as you're in for the ride of your life! Immediately, the train takes off, from 0 MPH to 70 MPH, in a very short amount of time. The loop that occurs soon after is one of the most insane loops I have ever been on. You actually get hang time on the loop which is rare for most loops at amusement parks. The ride even throws you a curveball towards the end. Once the curveball is thrown, the final tophat is insane, and you literally feel like you're about to be thrown out of your seat. Congratulations Six Flags on making an insanely awesome coaster than can rival any coaster in a Cedar Park. read more

One of my favorite rides at the park. This is an awesome, but short ride unfortunately. The line does move slow on this one however if there is only 1 cart running. The line does get filled up fast as it is in front of the park. They launch you at a very fast speed through the loop and then you go into a cork screw and then you go up the hill and down as the brakes hits. The music is pretty cool though as you wait. We sat in the front which is cool and was the lucky one. Anyways it does break down a lot too :( read more

I remember going on this ride just mere weeks after it first opened and it is a very smooth and thrilling experience as it was then! I love the sensation of "hang time" one feels when accelerating through one of the tallest vertical loops in the world and the reverse motion the coaster goes through before charging back over the top-hat element directly on top of the loop (the first of its kind I believe and so far the only one with it at the time of this review until another one comes along in the near future no doubt). I wish it was a bit longer but there's only so much room you can fit in new roller coasters, as they had to tear down the old Log Jammer ride to construct this one. All-in-all, a solid and enjoyable coaster from Premier Rides! read more

Amazing ride ....IF you are actually lucky enough to ride it!! And I'm not just talking about waiting in the long line. The "thrill" of the ride is the 1 second hanging upside down in the loop. The problem, half the time the train doesn't even make it through the loop, causing the riders to be sent backwards and slowly returning to the launch pad. Not too fun when it's 100 degrees and you're strapped in a ride seat with the sun beating down on you! Trust me, I know! 10 minutes later, maintenance finally shows up and pulls the train back to get the riders off. Then they do a few test runs, let the riders back on, and go through the whole process again. The first train might make it...fortunately ours did...but the second one probably won't, as was our case. So stuck again, waiting to return to the station, while the other train gets pulled back. Sometimes...rarely in the 2 days we were there...will the ride run continuously without a hitch. Most of the time, this apparently regular problem occurs, as one of the ride workers confessed. They actually expect this to happen?!! Hello! Fix the stinkin' ride!! It's worth the long line, but not worth the frustration of the very frequent mechanical failures!! So with that in mind, I can only give it 2 stars. read more

I won't sugarcoat it. Full Throttle is embarrassingly short, but, if you're a coaster enthusiast, don't let the length scare you away. It gives a very unique experience. The thing that makes this coaster so special is that it doesn't let up. Right at the start, you get launched 0 to 70 mph in 3 seconds right into formerly the tallest loop on earth (Flash at Lewa Adventure China has broken the record by 11 ft.), which gives some epic hang time at its peak. The next bit is a dive loop into a tunnel that makes the train come to a complete stop. A quick intercom tells you to "enjoy the ride" before you get launched backwards halfway into the dive loop, then run forwards again followed by another launch into the Top Hat section, which actually "throws" you from your seat for a split second at the drop before hitting the ending brakes. The huge reason this coaster is so fun is because it gives an experience that's completely unique compared to your everyday circuit coaster. There's surprises at every corner on this ride, and the feeling it gives to riders is worth every second. Premier Rides knew exactly what they were doing when creating Full Throttle. They were fully aware of its length, but utilized every element of the coaster to give riders a new kind of high; an experience that should not be bypassed when visiting Magic Mountain. read more
