I'm going to Fullerton college this fall 2014 haven't gone my parking permit I paid it online and try calling no one answers went to admissions records they told me to go campus safety office so I went the person infront of me got the parking permit easy and fast same paper info everything when it was my turn I couldn't get mine i just ask give me a reason why she just said go online blah blah the usual thing just to try get rid of me thinking she something better to do but I just wish I could of got her name it's just one of those kids that get a job and not put 100% into it read more

I finished most of my classes at El Camino College in Torrance, but I moved to OC and had to take one final class in order to transfer. I enrolled into Cypress went there for a semester, and then went to Fullerton only because it was on the way home from work, plus Cypress and Fullerton are linked together through gateway....so I gave Fullerton a shot. I just have to say I LOVE this school so much better than Cypress. This school has a warm and inviting feel to the campus, the library looks great (compared to other JC libraries), and their math tutorial. I don't know if it's me, but this school seem to have more of an educational structure pattern to completing the course you need with tutorial hour requirements. Even the professors are cool. It's a smoke free campus too...which helps with the trash litters. read more

I filed a formal grievance against Greg Ryan and the Financial Aid Department. Over the years, I have relied on financial aid staffers to inform me as a student as to their process, my options, and which direction to go to get the financial aid process completed. They were suppose to be the experts in their job positions. To my disappointment, and even as an alumni returning back to Fullerton College, this department has not been forthcoming. After talking to the Federal government today about my options, they informed me that the school's financial aid was always aware that bachelor degree'd returning students could not obtain Federal financial aid. They also informed me that if I decided to pursue my Masters degree, I could receive financial aid once again by attending a masters program. I didn't know this initially. And the financial aid department wasted my time by not informing myself and probably other students of this same information. Instead, they misled me by telling me that although I could not receive a Pell grant, I did qualify and would be receiving subsidized or unsubsidized loans. They had me going through the motions by giving me an award letter, having me do online counseling, fill out a promissory note, and by telling me to expect my funding to arrive after setting an additional account up through bank mobile. Then recently, two weeks into school, they informed me that I did not qualify for any aid which was knowledge I feel they already knew about but refused to impart to me. They enjoyed watching myself and other black students go through this because I observed another black male student in line with me in their office. He informed them that he had a bachelors degree and they told him that he too, had to go through an appeals process to see if he could get funding for his books, etc... They literally watched myself and other students go back and forth to verify disbursement dates knowing that we would eventually be denied. Who does that? What would be the purpose of going through this obstacle course after knowing that the Federal Government does not provide funding once educational credit limits have been reached? If the financial aid department had some special programs to cover books, etc.. that would have been understandable. But why wasn't this expressed to me back in the summer and to date during my attempts to communicate with my technician John, Myra, and their supervisor? I could have pursued other avenues and would have saved on gas, and time invested to obtain my AA degree. In my opinion, they didn't want to have positive communication with black students. After all, students of other descents were informed of their options for student aid. People like myself had to simply figure it out without assistance. No one wants to talk about race and being treated differently. It's the elephant in the room that I am tired of having to point out. To make matter worse, Greg Ryan continued to ask me personal questions about my personal income which was none of his business since I reported that info to the Federal Government when filling out my FAFSA form. He should have informed me of their adult student re-entry program and how it worked. His personal questions were harassing and beyond the norm which had been my concern all along during this process with financial aid. American Black students should be aware early on that this department will also try to block you from receiving federal aid by claiming you were flagged by the government and that you had to hand in all of this additional information including transcripts from other schools before being considered for aid. This is a lie because you don't need to submit transcripts on a junior college level unless you need them for credit purposes while pursuing your educational goals. According to the Federal Government's Federal Student Aid's Information Center, as an undergrad, your financial aid should not be held up because of this or other unusual excuses. And if it is, contact them and report this to: 1-800-433-3243. The school also has other issues as they have still ignored a formal complaint about racial harassment, verbal and emotional abuse, name calling, and professor to student bullying on the part of Martha Strey, a math instructor who called my relative mindless, accused her of not being qualified to be in her class, and demanding that my relative make a list and phone numbers of every tutor who assisted her which was stressful. In another instance, the Dean of Art Instruction had to step in to grade my relatives work when her online instructor refused to. And, Instructor Gregorio openly referred to whites as being ignorant and erased my daughters online assignment for handing it in early. She then refused to restore it forcing her to do it over. American black students should be informed of their attempts to block you from attending. read more

Gorgeous campus!! Great resources and helpful professors

Fullerton College is a good college, but it has many flaws that do not make it my top pick. First hand, as we know PARKING is a nightmare, I think you spend more time looking for parking that in class. Also, the building really need a makeover they are like 3 decades old, and a lot of their equipment is not state of the art. Fullerton College does have some amazing instructors that you just will not find anywhere else, but just parking is enough to turn off many students. I really hope they fix all this issue since more ,and more students keep enrolling. read more

Let's just start by saying that Fullerton College is a beautiful campus, especially those trees that bloom into pink flowers in the spring. Most amenities are clean, well kept, and are constantly getting improved upon. What matters more though, is that all of the professors I've had are absolutely amazing and genuinely care about their students' success. There are plenty of great resources available too (if you take advantage of them), and a lot of ways to get involved in student leadership as well. The only thing that is really bugging me is how random people are allowed to roam around the campus and ask for your information to sign a petition or register you to vote (DON'T give them anything). I have just learned to ignore them, but I'm starting to think it's a security concern, especially with how persistent they can get. If they fix that issue, the security of the campus would be so much better. Still, I've learned and grown so much, and have thoroughly enjoyed my time here. I'll always be proud to be a hornet! read more

I agree with the previous message. Fullerton college has a collection of great professors who really care about their students. The academic advisors are also very helpful in getting you through your program as quickly and painlessly as possible. The only thing I would disagree with is that Fullerton College is not BIG. Compared with most campuses it is remarkably small. Of course, that is one thing I like about Fullerton. You don't have to walk miles to your class. Lastly, the campus has personality and is not a concrete jungle, unlike some that I have come across. read more

Love most of the professors here. There are many facilities on the campus that can help you in so many ways. The transfer center and workforce center have wonderful employees who are always helpful! The counseling center is not that great but it is manageable to go into once a semester. read more

This review is specifically for the Financial Aid department and the SAP appeals process, not for the college as a whole. Not only was my financial aid counselor extremely unhelpful, insulting my chosen course of study and asking irrelevant questions about my education that had nothing to do with the financial aid process or my financial aid status at the college, but I had to see them about 3 or 4 seperate times for something that should have been done in one meeting. It's like they didn't even want to help me get my financial aid status reinstated to qualified. I was so tired of being given the run around and continuing to be told to come back later so that I could "finally get the documentation for my appeal", that I ended up just giving up, and now I lost hundreds of dollars in Cal Grant funds that I could have received if my financial aid counselor had just helped me actually prepare a SAP appeal stating that I had changed my major with the appropriate documentation. Disappointing from an institution I respect and enjoy attending. The financial aid office and staff need work. read more

This JC is over packed and the parking ...well gd look finding it. The new buildings are looking nice. If your a science major yes you will be place in a box due to great construction!! Most of the professors are difficult and thats great if it was grad. school! Most of the classes you take at JC are survey classes and I agree on begin difficult but to a point where only maybe well 4 to 5 students out of over 60 pass is where the professors need to question there methods or put the ego away. Of course there idea of what will improve a pass rate will be more perquisite to get into the basic classes and guess what o ya the students are still failing ...really surprised ummm by the way these perquisite make it harder to get out of there! As we know the budget cuts makes it impossible for students to get the classes they need so lets add more classes that are not open for the students but you must take! gd luck with this JC. read more

I don't know where to begin. I've had problems with the teachers not doing what they need to be doing, either messing around in class, not teaching, not engaging with the students, and lacking in communicating with students. I've had problems with the career center not responding when I've called more than a few times and left voicemails with my name and phone number in regards to getting test results back for assignments that needed to be done in a class that I had to retake 3 different times all for the same problem! The campus was beautiful, there are some great teachers there if you're lucky enough to find them, but overall, I didn't feel like some teachers cared enough and the program administrators that I had previously delt with showed no care. OH! And I met with a counselor to discuss certain things about my career and he told me that I shouldn't even bother! That I would have no luck getting into a profession with what I chose because of the lack of people I knew in the profession! He was astonishingly RUDE and the way he approached my career choice was uncalled for!!!! And he is supposed to be a counselor???? WHAT A SHAME, FULLERTON COLLEGE! I was so upset at the lack of compassion your faculty has and I will be taking my education elsewhere. I wasted so much money for education through Fullerton College where I could have invested it in a better school and learned a LOT more! So disappointed in my experience here, and I will NEVER recommend this school!! read more

Seriously the best! I never wanted to go to a JC and I was upset that I didn't get into cal state Fullerton out of high school but this place is amazing. If you're in the same situation or didn't get into the school you wanted to, just go here for a couple years and you will not believe how better your transfer options will be if you do somewhat well. The transfer center here is incredible. They are always doing whatever they can to help you, you just need to go over there. They take you on school tours too which are super fun and helpful! Cannot tell you enough how much I enjoyed this place. Also every professor I've had is amazing. They love when you come to office hours to ask questions or just talk to them. The faculty is all around amazing!! Just get involved, ask questions, and I promise that your experience will be great! read more

The financial aid department told me many things that were untrue, or never gave out the information at all. I have been awarded a pell grant for 2 years. I have managed to go on a warning list for one semester of bad grades, and gotten back in good standing. All the while never received a dollar of my grant money. I was told I would get all the money when they got a document they failed to mention I need. I sent in the full tax return and they were too lazy to do the work. This delayed me one month, then I sent them the summary which took another month to process. During the last month I dropped my class at the advisement of the financial aid office, because I did so I was not eligible for any of the money I was owed, as they did not fully process my paperwork until about a week afterward, or realistically 2 years after I first was approved for financial aid. I am going to do what I can to repay the favor by letting as many people know how they operate. This is a true story. Nothing made up, nothing left out, aside from 9,000 of financial aid I rightfully earned. read more

I went to Csuf for a year before ever hearing about Fullerton College, whenever somebody would mention community college let alone Fjc I would have a laugh. Then after doing bad one semester (Fraternity, yeah I use to be a terrible person) I decided to give it a shot after meeting so many people that went to Fjc and transfered to save money. My first impressions was that the school was lacking a lot compared to a cal state but then when it came time to pay for classes I realized that this place was loaded. Csuf for some reason thinks my parents make to much money and will probably never give me fin aid so to go to Fjc and only have to pay for a health fee and books was amazing. I also had the impression that classes were going to be easier which was not the case for the most part. I am looking at you csuf math department! Why would the department make the tests and not the teachers? Anyways I digress, Fjc has been the best thing that has ever happened to my academic life....Honestly without it I dont think I would have been able to get the proper foundation to succeed in life... Pro's Great way to save money be doing GE's Amazing transfer center, best of any community college I know! Take random classes for cheap! Con's Lack of classes due to csuf students coming over to take Ge's Got some weird people at times..... read more

They gain an extra star! They posted signs in the back cubicle area that state "Quiet Please," and it has really made a difference. Some people still talk but its easy to look at them and point to the sign. No more confrontations, and the library zone has been restored. The only thing left is to improve the internet and it will become an easy 5 stars. I hope this occurs in the near future. In the meantime, thank you for listening to your students :) read more

This is my first semester at FC, I have to say that I have had a pretty good experience so far. Enrolling was fairly easy but it takes "6 weeks or more" for out of state college transcripts to be evaluated. Going through the process of speaking with an adviser and planning your classes was pretty easy. I did get some great advice about starting college as an 'adult' and how to re-learn study skills & time management, that was nice. So far my class is great, all of the professors have been nice and make them selves available. My professor has been extremely flexible with me in re-scheduling exams when things come up and helping me anytime I need it. I love the campus, there's a new library (open till 8pm), a cafe with espresso and a nice courtyard with benches that are great in the summer. So far I'm happy with the college, I'm looking forward to finishing my time here quickly and moving on to a 4-yr school for my bachelor's. read more

well i love the campus, most of the teachers are cool, what sucks the most is that every semester for the last 2 years i have not been able to get into any quality classes i need to graduate, i am a great student with a 3.50 gpa, however the school is overcrowded and in order to get a class you have to "petition", with having to petition you waste a few hours till the class is done and then the teacher may tell you to keep attending class until someone drops out.. that sucks, i now go to university of pheonix where they get you into classes right away!! all the teachers are amazing, they are actual people in the field you are studying, it is soo cool, the school is fast pace but if you are a good student you are guaranteed to graduate on time!! anyways though i will be hopefully attending this school again to get some electives taken care of, that is if i can get into any classes!!! read more

Obviously parking is a *****! Lol but time it right and you'll be good. For example, if you have a 8am class, come an hour or so early. Also, a lot of people are cool there as far as guaranteeing you their parking space. When circling around looking for one, ask someone who's walking to their cars if you can have their space, it works out well. Awesome professors here with the exception of one math teacher who I swear is no older than 25 and had to teach herself how to do a lot of the problems saying that "I don't usually teach this math". Such a low level math, I'm not saying the number dammit! Lol!! Anyway, the counselors, professors, and even the cafeteria workers are all nice. Another thing, there are quite a few new buildings, and I think they purposely built them to cut out phone reception lol so beware you might juice all your battery in one hour since it's constantly searching for service, or you may not be able to be on your phone for that hour...either way you're in class, put the phone down. This rating is solely for the massage program at Fullerton college. As someone who took many classes from the program, I would warn you to stay away. The program is ran in a very disorganized manner with constant changes throughout the term of the class. Syllabus is pretty much useless as all the dates and assignments are constantly changed. The head of the department Constance Carroll is unfortunately extremely ungrounded, emotional and unfit to instruct students. Students are overloaded with various Eastern modalities that are thrown at them (sometimes as a first time exposure to many) without any foundations or solidification of any one subject. Classes are often overcrowded and techniques are never perfected. Students will not walk away from this program with any solid knowledge except for the Swedish massage. In addition, classes are often filled beyond capacity and require a year of wait time since they are only offered only once a year. In my opinion, the instructors and especially the head make the program, and unfortunately, in my experience you will not receive a quality massage education at Fullerton College. read more

I like the school. Would be 5-star if the campus safety wasn't so terrible. First, they think they are real cops. They literally had me and some teammates surrounded with campus safety cars (we were just waiting around in my car until practice) and made us put our hands out the windows of the car, and even pull us out and searched us. Not even sure if they have the right to do so? They said we "looked suspicious." Next, i purchased a parking pass with one week left in the fall semester- i meant to purchase the spring parking pass but accidentally purchased the fall pass- I called to admit i had made a mistake and asked if they can transfer it over to the spring semester...They refused. "Sorry there's nothing we can do. You have to purchase the Spring pass as well." Why would i purposely purchase a parking pass that could only be used for a week? They clearly are not sympathetic towards college students who literally need EVERY penny they can get their hands on. Also, on game days (Saturdays when the parking lot is EMPTY) we would park in the lot before hopping on our busses and they still managed to give out parking tickets! Talk about a department that is DESPERATE for money! read more

i have been here for along time and year after year it seems that it is getting quite expensive. i love the campus the teachers are great but it is crazy to pay for a book that is required by the school or "packages" and bullshit materials included to hype up the cost. not to mention it is ridiculous to spend more for a book then for the class!!!! read more

The teachers here are more committed and more focused on education than at Cypress. But some of them don't care much about students. However, I did not care much for the campus (buildings look nice on the outside, but more like hospital halls on the inside). The main problem I have with this campus is that it's very bureaucratic. Every little rule must be enforced. You have to go one place to get verification for one thing, which tells you to go somewhere else, and so on. I also don't like how they handle their money. While i was there 40K went to cabinets in the teachers lounge, 20K to a visiting author, 10K to Associated Students (who spent it on a hypnotist and party--but tickets were only $2, they had it in a room that allowed no more than 200 people, and they didn't advertise at all--total waste), and decided to begin building a new football field even though there's one right across the street. All the while budget cuts raise tuition and close the child care center. The only stars they get is for their health center (which most things were free, the school I'm at now is charging 22 for a flu shot--bull!) and has nice people, there library (which needs some work in providing secondary sources for class in humanities), and teachers (which are almost always very smart and helpful, with only a few exceptions). The other thing that really bugs me are their course books. The library relies purely on donation, so most of the time they don't have your class on reserve (whereas Cypress always has at least 1 copy). Also, the bookstore tries to steal your money. Seriously, go to amazon or something--anywhere else. Almost all the books I've bought there were in bad condition and overpriced. The final straw was buying my course book for .16 cents on amazon, in new condition and hardcover. Compare that to really bent up, highlighted paperback which they were selling for $87. The book has only one edition and that was 2004!! Idiots tried to sell for 87 in 2009. Bull****!! If you really need your book, buy it at the store and online, but get expedited shipping--that way you'll still be within the time frame to return the bookstore copy. read more
