I would ignore all the remarks saying "do not waste your money" or people got "kicked out for no reason". Nursing isn't for everyone. Nursing is one of the hardest degrees to achieve out there, let alone in an accelerated program. Comparing to my friends who attend schools for BSNs such as CSUF or CSULB, we definitely learn a lot more and cover more material in class (IF YOU DECIDE TO PUT THE WORK IN). The chapters assigned are there. This is just like any other college where professors are limited in time in being able to cover everything for exams and what you need to know for the real world. You definitely have to put in your own effort to learn and work hard to practice skills. Most of the people who I knew were dismissed from the college were "kicked out of the program" very early. However, other nursing programs at public systems have a similar criteria where students can't fail more than two classes and need a 76-76% or higher to pass the class. Med math exams are also similar. There are so many resources on campus. You could talk to the professor during office hours or after class about things you don't understand and I've never been turned away before. People who feel they were critiqued harshly or felt like they were constantly failing may act entitled since we do pay a lot. However, this is private school and I know other private schools which cost way more. Just because you pay a lot doesn't mean you're entitled to pass every course. You have to put in the work. The same goes for getting hired. In addition most feel like the school is not adaptable. I've had many friends give birth, work full time, and have families during the term and still pass the harder nursing core classes. It is possible, if you put in the work. The schedule every term is so consistent, you know that finals are every week 9, and there are exams almost every week. I don't understand why people try to use the professor as a scape goat when the schedules are always set like that. Lol this is an accelerated program. Other known UCs and Cal stated that offer accelerated BSN nursing programs run the same way. All in all, I appreciated this nursing program. It's an accredited university and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. People who leave negative comments are just those who got let go from the program who let excuses get in the way or did not put in the work or make the effort to focus on exams and pass courses. I've had my grandmother die the day of a final. If I could pass that nursing course (critical care) despite such a tragedy, then anyone can do anything as long as you set your mind to it. I've had such a great experience with professors here, student services, and admin. Yes there are a few professors I didn't care for, but every school has professors you don't care for or don't "teach well". Put in the work and you will get the best out of your education. read more

It can be draining at times, so take my review into consideration when deciding whether it's worth the financial commitment or the potential debt. The school prides itself on having a strong faculty and open communication. While some professors are truly outstanding, others may leave you to deal with the chaos they create, and you might struggle to get the support you expect. When choosing your clinical placement, you'll likely be excited to pick a location close by, with good reviews, and a spot that offers the kind of clinical experience you're looking for. However, be prepared for the reality that you'll probably end up traveling much farther for a hospital that isn't particularly student-friendly. In my case, I often found myself working night shifts every other term. I try not to complain, but I do feel compelled to share my experience with one particular professor: Professor Jeana Ruiz. Unfortunately, she was far from professional in her approach. She misrepresented an assignment, changed the grading rubric on the day it was due, and verbally berated students. Rather than fostering a supportive learning environment, it felt more like a "eat your young" mentality, and this was only three semesters into the program. Despite emailing our dean multiple times, nothing was done, nothing was said, and there was no investigation into the grueling experience we endured. It was incredibly frustrating to feel that our concerns were ignored, and it left a lasting impact on my overall perception of the program's commitment to student well-being. I'd also like to take a moment to acknowledge the professors who truly made a positive impact on my experience. Professors Evangelista, Joung, Karen Fish, Farag, Mealy Min, Mary Juliano, Caluya, and Thomas are the ones who really stand out. These professors genuinely care about their students and are invested in our success. They won't hand you an A without effort, but they are always willing to provide the resources, time, and guidance if you take the initiative to ask for help. Whether in clinicals, simulations, or theory classes, they created a learning environment that was supportive and helped me grow in every aspect of my education. My time at West Coast University was an incredibly challenging yet rewarding experience, and what truly made it stand out was the dedicated and passionate theory professors. Nursing school is tough, but the professors at WCU genuinely care about their students' success. They go above and beyond to ensure we not only understand the material but also feel confident and prepared for our future roles as nurses. One professor, in particular, Professor Farag, had a profound impact on my journey. Her Critical Care course was the class I was most nervous about, but because of her passion and amazing teaching style, I not only made it through--I ended up with an A. She taught in a way that made even the most complex concepts engaging and easy to grasp. She broke down intricate disease processes and nursing interventions so that we could truly understand the "why" behind what we do as nurses. Her enthusiasm for critical care was infectious, and because of her, I developed a genuine love for critical thinking, pathophysiology, and the complexity of disease processes. She was, by far, my favorite professor at WCU, and it was because of her class and mentorship that I made the decision to step into the ICU as a new graduate nurse. More than just an instructor, Professor Farag was a mentor who encouraged me to push myself, ask questions, and think beyond the surface. She was always available to help and made learning fun and interactive, which made all the difference in my education. Now, as I begin my career in the ICU, I carry the knowledge, skills, and confidence that she helped instill in me. I also want to give a special shout-out to Professor Ang, Professor Perez, Professor Davidson, Professor Bowman, and Professor Mealy Min. Each of them had an amazing teaching style, was incredibly supportive, and served as great mentors who made a lasting impact throughout my nursing journey. ​I am extremely frustrated and disappointed with West Coast University's policy regarding their exit exam. Forcing students to achieve a 92% score to graduate does not measure basic competency; it demands absolute excellence. ​After spending an astronomical amount of money and dedicating years of hard work, failing this single exam means you are completely done. To make matters worse, transferring those hard-earned credits to another institution is nearly impossible, leaving you trapped. When you try to address these valid concerns, you are simply dismissed and sent to speak with a consultant rather than receiving actual help. WCU treats students like a business transaction rather than investing in their success. Save your money and sanity--go somewhere that actually wants you to graduate.
