He was friendly, not very invasive, and gave us great advice (club up!) for #18. We got away with bogies. The course is tricky, in fair condition, with lots of barranca and chances to lose balls -- which I did. Feels like a 1970s time warp course...old school. Bar was woeful. Lack of inventory... Been playing here for two years now and I honestly love Fullerton GC. I give it 4 stars based on value and convenience. 3 stars because of the conditions of the fairways. Greens are good and playability.their twilight of 10-14 dollars is awesome. (Seasonal) the breakfast burritos are awesome too! I played here for the first time several weeks ago. With a 1pm tee time in January, on a Sunday no less, I thought it would be near-impossible for us to finish. Well I was wrong. We did finish, with maybe 15 minutes before darkness hit. Course condition - Average, 3.5/5. Fairways are barren at times. The course reminded me of a budget version of Coyote Hills, around the corner. Course layout - below average, 2/5. I don't know, I just didn't like the course layout. It was narrow at times, which is fine, but just felt unnecessarily narrow. For example, hole (2? 3?), the par 5, has canyon/weeds along the left side, but a highly sloping hill to the right. There are places with mandatory lay-ups on par 4's, cutting the short course even shorter. Probably only 2-3 drivable holes. read more

This is my home turf. I play this course more than any other course because it is the best value course in Southern California. Friendly and flexible staff. They make an effort to accommodate you, which is unusual considering the overwhelming amount of business they get. Biggest downfall is the crowd. Expect long waits, especially on weekends, when playing during peak season. Another downfall is that the practice area is very small (not much room for chipping and no sand traps). There are two practice greens total (neither is anything special). The course layout is really nice (2 par 5's, 9 par 4's, and 7 par 3's). Par 68. This place is enough of a challenge for me. This used to be a reasonable course (par 70) some months ago. I was down there Saturday July 3, 2011 for an early morning tee time. the place was a mess. The first 4 holes are like construction sites and quite unplayable. We could not play the 4th green as it was flooded from a broken sprinkler - the hole was under water. The back nine is surviving - however, there seems to be complete apathy towards upkeep. I am not sure what's going on. I will stay away from the course. The guy at the pro-shop continues to be as glum as ever. read more

Horrible management, they stack groups up 5 minutes apart where there are literally 3 groups on each hole. The pace of play is horrendous. The conditions on the course are practically dirt sand, with the exception of some fairly okay spots. Hard grounds, getting the tee in is work in itself. Overall, would not recommend playing here. Save your money. read more

If you are just looking for a cheap place to play golf, this is as good as it gets in So Cal. It is definitely not the nicest course out there, but it is fun nonetheless. I have only played the front 9 (twilight), but here are my notes. The course is very short and it is almost best to just leave your driver out of your bag as it will most likely only get you into trouble and there is really no need for it at all. The course is very tight and often has trouble on both sides (hazard on left and OB on right) for many of the holes. This is a great place to work on your iron play. read more

I was extremely disappointed in the condition of the course from tees to greens. Every tee box is bare of grass, the fairways are mud with patches of all types of different grass, and the greens are awful. I understand that the greens were sanded 2 or 3 weeks ago, but come on! There are gouges and holes everywhere. The traps are horrible because there are no rakes. All other courses in the area put rakes back months ago. How about a little maintenance on the course. I've been playing this course since I was a kid in the late 1960's and it's a shame how bad the course has become. I will not be playing here again. I feel like I wasted my money, and I was embarrassed that I brought a friend who had never played here before! read more

Epic fail by the Fullerton GC staff this past Saturday. My 4-some had an 11:45 tee time and the course was so backed up we didn't get off until 20 after 12. I have lived in the area for years, and Fullerton continues to pack the groups in like sardines to squeeze every dime they can out of profit, while creating a bad playing experience and slow pace of play. The tee boxes at holes #1, and #3 are consistently packed with 4 or 5 carts. The marshals need to do a better job of pushing pace. I enjoy certain facets of the course, particularly the back nine, and the price is the cheapest in the area. Hence the reason I will play it once or twice a year. If they could regulate their tee times and pace a litle better, it could be a much more enjoyable experience for everyone. read more

Don't be deceived with the pictures. Currently, the golf course requires maintenance. The course is narrow, lots of uphills and downhills, an opportunity for miracle shots. Better greeneries are needed. The shop needed to hire another person to answer the phones. Only one person doing everything. Although, I have to say she juggled everything pretty well, but delayed our TEE time. The line got long for check-in and to pay. Cost is okay. read more

The course: I used to play here. I don't mind the course. Although even before I played here I was told how crappy the greens are. I agree. I like the price and I can work around the poison ivy and stinging plants that they use apparently to keep out ball seekers. One thing I can't work around is the food service. The kitchen: I went here on my birthday and was served a chicken burger that later landed me in the hospital. I didn't notice how uncooked it was but it was definitely salmonella food poisoning. I do remember taking a good look at the meat for a moment assuring my friend it was cooked. There was a reason I stopped for a moment and I should've investigated it further or trust my own better judgement. Even before that I had my doubts. There it sat, a really fat piece of chicken charred on the outside, but what about the inside? I did'nt even see the cook stick a temp. gauge or anything. Well, I talked with the GM weeks later when I felt almost normal again, but he was no help. I was advised by a lawyer but I don't have much money to fork out after the hospital bills. Not so horrible of a course, but beware of the food. I could have died. I'm a licensed practitioner in the medical field and a nursing student; I know what I'm talking about. "I'm sorry for what happened to you," just doesn't cut it Mr. Yorkstone. As a GM you should've done more than that, before and after. Hopefully at least you filed the claim you were supposed to. Take responsibility next time you put someones life in danger. If the hospital hadn't thrown out the bag of vomitus I planned to have examined by a lab to prove this was from your kitchen I wouldn't be out of $6,000 plus dollars, you would. It doesn't really matter what food rating you had last time around, in regards to this more recent incident with an undercooked piece of chicken. Human error is involved here and someone needs to be held accountable. I am doing what I can for the next poor human being that comes along trying to get some nutrients from your kitchen. I care about people, it's my business, it should have been yours as well. Don't even risk your health in that place. I'm done playing with this course and the condescending management of this place in its entirety. I'd rather play Break Creek's 9 holes twice instead. They don't have a kitchen, at least they are'nt biting off more than they can chew. blaah!!! read more

Decent course, well maintained and semi challenging. A few par 4 but mostly par 3. Comparable to Casta Del Sol and definetly way better than Baker. Mostly lay up shots. The course is surrounded by homes so it makes it feel more secluded. Staff are very professional and provide sufficient gap between tee times. This is my standard course to play. read more

Fullerton is ok of a course. This review comes after the rains of 11-26-08. The course was still soggy two days later. The greens were really bumpy and one or two were bad full of divots. People remember repair your divots don't be lazy. The fairways were ok some were decent others were bad full gopher mounds. Overall the course is ok the lay out is good. read more

Play It OR Hack It? **PLAY IT!!** Great course if you're not looking to break the bank. Prices are reasonable between $25-30+ cart in the afternoons. Not worth paying more than $30 in my opinion so look for tee-times after 1PM. Greens are typically slow like most courses in this price range. Fairways are in decent shape and pace of play varies, I would avoid Sundays. CONCLUSION: For the price and conditions of the course, I say it's worth playing. Not quite a full Par 70-72, but it will do. One disappointing aspect of this course is the 4-5 back-to-back par 3's. Sheesh, you think they could have spread the holes out more. read more

I golf at Fullerton pretty often, and I am always content with my round. They take semi good care of everything, nothing too flashy but it gets the job done. Service all around is great, it just needs some work on the greens and certain spots on the fairways. Other than that the pro club is awesome and the food is pretty good. read more

This is a great course for intermediate golfers. The course has many valleys and awesome views, especially the back 9. The grounds are kept fairly decent. The staff us very friendly and helpful. Booked tee time for $35/person with cart but when we got there, they told us there was a special to include a drink (beer) and a combo meal breakfast or lunch to $30. Awesome deal and for $5 less than i was going to pay. Would definitely come back again. read more

It seems like people forget about this course at times. This is a great course to zero in on Iron play and forces the normal golfer to hit skill shots. Plays narrow and has little forgiveness for you hackers out there. My buddy who is a hacker went through a dozen balls in his round. I remember this course being pretty tricky the first time playing. However, after playing a couple times the course becomes simple and a score in the 70's is not too hard to accomplish. Usually not to hard to walk on without a tee time during the week and the prices are well worth it. I played yesterday (June 5th) and the course was in the best shape I've seen in years. The greens were pure and the tee boxes were well maintained. The one bunker i was in felt pretty hard but it had not been racked yet. I've been playing here for about 10 years and it usually takes 4 1/2 hours to play on a slower day. read more

This course is a joke. The fairways are garbage and the greens are horrible. The green ways should be no more then $10 because of the condition alone. On top of that, they want 5$ for small bucket of balls, $10 for a medium and I'm pretty sure you don't even wanna know the price for a full basket. Looks like the fairways are slowly dying. Greens were bumpy and dirty. Sand was the only good part of the course. Pace was great for the first 6 holes, but when the 4 par-3's in a row came up, things slowed down dramatically. At hole 15, there was a back up of 10 people. A 4 some, then 2 3somes that joined up. Place isn't that great, but decent. Bring a few extra balls and there is a creek that comes into play a few holes, and a lot of OB. read more

Way better than Birch if you're looking for a municipal course to play for under $50. Some nice holes for driving since there's a lot of high tees. Not very difficult or much water to worry about. Good course for beginners I think most of the high school teams in the area play here. read more

I really like this course. It has variety throughout the layout which keeps you interested in the game. The greens are decent and it is overall fairly challenging and is a fun course to play. The golf course ambassador's customer service was terrible. He falsely accused my relative of hitting two balls off the tee when he had only hit one! My relative defended himself by telling the ambassador he had hit only one ball off the tee. The ambassador apologized immediately thereafter. read more

Decent price. The fairways are really narrow and a lot of up and downs. Greens are fairly well kept. It's usually pretty crowded after 3 is when I usually play because the price drops to $10 for club members. I play here pretty often. read more

It's no PGA course, and bring plenty of balls if you're a hack, because once it's gone, it's gone. Friends and I play summers here every Friday. People here usually keep a good pace, and it's CHEAP! After 5PM Monday through Friday it's only $10 w/cart. Friendly staff, some challenging holes, and a few long greens. read more

While the fairways are very tight and I dont really like the 4 straight par 3s on the front nine, it really is a pretty nice course, especially after 3pm when you could play 18 with a cart for less than $20. This place is not bad. I have played here twice in the last month and actually enjoyed my experience. I thought the course was in ok condition. Greens were not bad but not great either. They seem like they may be getting ready to renovate it for the upcoming Fullerton City Tournament but overall my experience has been ok. It is challenging if they stick a group of 5 out there but that is what you get at these type of courses. I have not paid over $20 to play there with a cart so for that price no complaints. read more

The only shining aspect of Fullerton Golf Course is the rates, but you still arent getting what you're paying for. The course is not well maintained as other public courses are. Lots of dirt patches where there should be grass. They do tend to keep up the greens during times when there will be tournaments played(not very often), but i would go somewhere else, even on a tight budget. read more

The tall bald skinny guy in pro shop who checked us in was rude, obnoxious, condescending and was just a jerk. He thinks he owns the place and not an employee. He started us off on the wrong foot right away. Drinks: very expensive. Now to the golf: narrow, dead patches of fairways (sucks when you stripe your drive), greens with dead areas with lots of ball marks. Bunkers are not raked. I like the elevations to offer varieties. Not worth the price or aggravation. Our group will take our money elsewhere. read more

Played at least 15 rounds here in 2015 with no complaints--among other things, it's close, affordable, great staff, and the course was always in decent shape. Played my first round of 2016 here today and they have really stepped up their game. I golf at Fullerton once a week because it's cheap with deals you find at Golfnow.com. The staff here is great, but the course is in really poor shape. The is no clear difference between the fairway or the second cut. Also when your on the fairway it's rock hard. The grass is burnt throughout the course. Nobody that golfs here fixes there divots and the grounds crew don't roll the greens so your lucky if your putt ends in the direction you intended it to go in. If you hit a sand trap good luck getting out. The sand is extremely dense from water and the sand not being turned over. It's like hitting out of really hard wet sand at a beach. After the extremely expensive irrigation system that was installed you would think the grounds would be nicer. I do recommend this course if you looking to golf for cheap, but if you want something a lot nicer try Westridge. read more
