My fiance and I stayed in the Butternut Cottage and it was beautiful. I loved waking up to a paddock full of sheep outside of my door. Everyone here was extremely courteous and professional. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone staying in Lancaster. I would love to return the next time I am in the area.

The entire house is stunning, inside and out. I was lucky enough to stay in one of the most recently renovated rooms, a jungle themed paradise. The room was pristine. The decor is gorgeous. Upon walking inside, there was calming safari music playing on the TV. I felt like I was in heaven. The location is unbeatable, especially for history buffs. The house is across the street from the New Castle Court House Museum, one of six sites that comprise First State National Historic Park. And it's wonderfully quiet area. I was relaxed and at ease the entire time. I would 100% stay here again, and I highly recommend it to anyone in need of a peaceful getaway!

That is not the case! The grounds were completely overgrown- we had a hard time recognizing the house!! the inside is very dark, smells bad and unkempt. Our room was 'clean enough' but the mattress was awful- we got little sleep the two nights. We paid for a suite to relax in but there was no TV in that area so you had to sit on uncomfortable bed. The common area with snacks could have been nice but that was not clean. Needless to say we were very disappointed and felt they misrepresented themselves.

Each room is decorated with a variety of Victorian furniture and named after something musical. This is the place where we discovered their very yummy hot apple cider! Breakfast was filling and yummy. I believe we had French Toast with a size of fresh fruits and tea/coffee. We usually come up to Lancaster to go to our favorite restaurant there, Dienner's Country Restaurant. While we were here, we also got a chance to visit Jennie's Diner, conveniently located right across the street. There are no TVs in the rooms, but we enjoyed that idea it gave us a more intimate setting. We ended up playing cards and with the chess set available in the nicely decorated living room (we were there during Christmas time). They were kind enough to take some pictures for us near the fireplace and Christmas tree. This time, like others, we went In December, and was able to enjoy our short time here. We left Baltimore only 80 miles away at 11:30 am by 6pm we had made it as far as Columbia,PA due to the weather and poor road conditions. Tom saw that we were exhausted and clearly stressed out by our failed attempt to make it to North Country, New York. Tom welcomed us with open arms, took time to get to know us, and showed us around this beautiful historic home. The house is stunning, full of history and not to mention it is meticulously clean. Make sure you put his home on your must see and stay if you are looking for a quaint getaway from the hustle and bustle of the big city. Oh and one more thing Tom is a brilliant artist, take time to explore his portraits!

The building is in the Tudor style but has lots of medieval accents, which I found to be interesting. There are several vintage pieces and artwork for sale at affordable prices on display throughout the building. I was super excited about that and purchased a couple of pieces to take home with me. The rooms are very cozy and the mattress/pillows/towels are such good quality. And to top it off, breakfast is solid and hearty. They also know how to host an event. Decor and the setting in the garden was lovely. Already plotting my next visit here.
