Small local market with a few farm vendors, cottage bakers, and some food. They have food trucks some times and stalls rotate in and out. Not a huge selection but it's not bad. They're like a minor league market to the Linden Hills Market majors. You'll probably have better luck if you're going for food vs produce. During spring, summer and fall we buy almost all of our produce at the Minneapolis Farmers Market but this weekend we weren't able to make the trip down to the Mpls Market so I decided to stop off at the Fulton Farmers market which is near my house. Well it was a real come down. There are very few vendors selling fresh produce and the variety of produce available in no way compares to the Mpls Farmers Market. There was a food truck and that was about it. Not many customers either. All in all a bit sad. Fortunately for me there is a Untiedt vegetable stand nearby in the parking lot of the Wagner's garden store on Penn Avenue and Highway 62 which has a reasonably large selection of fresh produce so I was able to stock up for the week. I guess there isn't enough business at the Fulton Farmers Market to attract serious vendors. Too bad as it would be nice to have a reasonable alternative to Mpls Farmers Market when one doesn't want to make the drive and deal with the parking. read more

I spontaneously took the baby to the Fulton Farmers Market last weekend, and we had an absolute blast. It's in a church parking lot, and there's ample street parking (much of which is shaded) nearby. The farmers market itself isn't enormous, so it felt very navigable for the little one and myself. We resisted the pull of the Bogart's Donuts tent and opted to breakfast on a tomato, spinach, and swiss croissant from Sun Street Breads. There was even a tented seating area where we could enjoy our spoils in the shade. Obviously there were numerous organic farm stands, plus a food truck, a paella place, and a jam lady. This is clearly a family-friendly event, as there were multiple attractions for kiddos. There was one tent with a musician (the daily schedule also indicated there was a morning story time), and on the day I went the University of Minnesota's Raptor Center was there with some animals. My kid thought the great horned owl was beyond hilarious, so she was a happy camper. We had a great first visit to the Fulton Farmers Market, and will definitely be back soon! read more

My daughter got me introduced to the Fulton Farmers Market this summer and I have to say I love this spot. It's located in the church parking lot of Lake Harriet Methodist Church. It's easy to get around and the number of vendors in my mind is "just right". You can pretty much find any ingredient you might need to complete your grocery list for the week. I always start my shopping at Patisserie 48. A freshly baked scone is a must here or bring home some of their homemade breads for dinner. As you stroll through the vendors don't forget your own shopping bag because you're sure to bring home some organic produce or herbs. The market offers lots of specialty food products (honey, wild caught salmon, goat or sheep milk cheese) and canned goods like salsas, jams or sauces. Early in the season when you're completing your garden they have native perennials or herb baskets to choose from. The market is open on Saturday's from 8:30 to 1pm. If you're not in the mood for breakfast save a little appetite for lunch. Big River Pizza and the Chef Shack are here to tempt you too. This market is my new favorite hangout, every Saturday morning. Local and fresh produce, plants, and multiple vendors to choose from, as well as fun events for the little ones in your family to partake in. What I love so much about this market is the shear amount of produce! You can go here leaving with bags upon bags of potatoes, tomatoes, lettuce, etc, thanks to the large variety of vendors. Each time Rachel W. and I come, we can't leave without getting a scone (or two) from Patisserie 46. Chef Shack and Big River Pizza are there to suit your brunch/lunch needs, and there is ample seating in the middle of the market to sit and relax (& eat) in the sun! I can't leave out those specialty vendors as well, featuring my favorite Bee lady Kristy, from Beez Knees, as well as Broder's Cucina Italiana selling fresh pasta, dough, and sauces. The Fulton Farmer's Market is better than ever this year! They seem to have a lot more vendors/booths then when I visited last summer. I love this because then I can support multiple farmers as opposed to just one. Last weekend I got corn and raspberries from one farmer, then zucchini and tomatoes from another and blueberries from a whole different vendor. The produce is always fresh and tastes SO much better then the dribble you get at Cub. They also have the most beautiful bouquets to choose from; I also bought some bomb Cajun brats there a couple of weeks ago. Gai Gai Thai no longer frequents the market but don't fret, Chef Shack is still going strong as well as Patisserie 46. They also have Big River Pizza now which I am jones-ing to gobble up on my next visit. Tip: You should probably be starving when you go to the market-then you don't have to choose just one thing to eat- try something from every vendor. read more

I never thought I'd be dinging something based on its clientele. Oh well, life's not fair, so here we go... I am not allowed to go to this farmer's market next season, per my partner. Because I love a control freak? No, because no one wants to be around the crazy lady I become. There are few things that drive me seeing-red crazy, and one of them is needlessly aimless crowd dynamics from la la land. When I'm getting my weeks worth of big batch, I'm not shoving people left and right but I AM on a mission. I seem to be the only freaking person here who ever is. I am NOT here for a 46 pastry and/or a mini donut and coffee and live music and sunshine, I am here to buy vegetables and meat, and I do not like standing at stalls for 20 minutes over and over because people with either no intention of buying or the intention of spending 2 bucks are monopolizing every single vendor and blah and blah RIGHT THERE WHERE PEOPLE PAY. "But SW, every famer's market is like this." Noooooo, my peeps not like this. I sound like a miserable human being hating on an innocent farmer's market. This is what this experience does to people! The selection is - limited. Food trucks from the way overhyped to the awesome put in appearances, though you can't assume that one week will mean the next is also on the roster. I like the wood tokens thing that they're doing in conjunction with Kingfield. I looooove the wool/sheep dairy/lamb vendor whose name I'm forgetting who doesn't seem to show up at the other markets I go to (fantastic product) ...but I really dislike that Fulton seems to be a see-and-be-seen reunion for Linden Hills and Edina people and everyone wants to chat and catch up, driving under-caffienated, actual food-buying people still slightly hung over and between the ages of 10 and 60 COMPLETELY INSANE. We used to frequent the Kingfield Market most weekends but Fulton is closer so we'll likely make the switch. The market is located in an open parking lot with a lot of space around it. The market itself is pretty small but it doesn't have that cozy feeling to it like Kingfield yet. I'm not quite sure why, but I think it's because there's not much surrounding it; it's just out in the open whereas Kingfield is kind of tucked away amongst the neighboring buildings. The primary reason we go to this market is because of the location. After a couple weekends here we found there are a few other bonuses. The food vendors here are top notch. Patisserie 46, Sun Street Breads, Chef Shack, Broder's, Foxy Falafel, Moonshine Coffee, and Gai Gai Thai. Last weekend they started cooking demos which I hope will continue. Joan Ida, executive chef for the Blue Plate restaurants, ran the demo last week. Besides the food, there are the standard flower, produce, poultry, and dairy vendors. They seem to have less of these so there's not much competition for price like the larger markets but for the most part price is reasonable. They also have @altbikeboard on site doing free minor bike repairs! Another nice little, neighborhood market! read more

The Fulton & the Kingsfield Markets are a great pair of markets. They are extremely local and offer a great variety of produce, cheese and a stock of salsas, canned products etc. If you want the best deals, get there at the start of the market. All the vendors are extremely helpful and have the time to chat before the hoards of hungry Edinanians come out of their homes. Also, if there is excess produce, it seems to be cheaper in the AM. Also, who doesn't want to have breakfast here? You can get anything from Chai donuts at the Chef Shack to a delish pumpkin brioche from Pastierre 46 (only in season of course). I'll miss this market until the spring. Until then, I'll trek to Rainbow, a sad, sad alternative. read more

Cute and quaint does it for this farmers market. If you have been to the Minneapolis one you will be let down by the mass selection and the price (it is about a dollar or 2 more than downtown) but it is a cute place. This reminded me of more of a 'fair stands' verses a farmers market. They had local businesses (including Broder's and 46 Passterie) almost deli style by order. The fair was 70% order and go food, and 30% were produce and premade foods (ie salsa, jam, etc..). If you are looking at doing your farmer's market shopping for veggies for the week, don't bring your reusable bags here, save them for down town. But if you are looking for a market that is more for an already made to get a coffee and take a walk... it is worth the visit. read more

Still delicious. Mr. S and I just enjoyed the last day of the market. We split a Thai Omelete with green curry from Gai Gai Thai and polished off a dish of our favorite Hangover Hash from Chef Shack. We bought a ton of veggies, salmon,bacon, Italian sausage and a baguette. I just finished making some parsnip, carrot, tomato and potato soup. I'll serve it with some crostini using the bread I bought. I'm going to miss our Saturday morning ritual. Don't miss the holiday market. Very nice and knowledgeable people all around to share their knowledge & tasty ingredients with you. They usually have some kind of entertainment for the kids with a family friendly band or storytelling. So make sure you bring the whole family! There are typically 1-2 food trucks as well, with Chef Shack almost always being one. I don't think they accept credit cards, so make sure you bring cash. read more

What a wonderful new market! Sole negative is the coffee-selling tent run by hipsters who don't allow sugar in their coffee. (Seriously? A new little market that is nice for the neighborhood. My new addiction is the curried feta from Nerstrands Singing Hills Dairy coupled with a loaf of hearty,chewy bread from Sun Street Breads YUM!! The food truck had nice pickles but between the surly service,high price and small portions for a sandwich we will give the other vendors a try. Gai Gai Thai was doing a thriving business and having fun while doing it. We wanted to give this market a try, Kingfield and Midtown are my favorite markets and I hope this one gets established as farmers markets are great at community and bringing the neighborhoods together. read more
