I would recommend other potential customers or current customers of this business to look elsewhere for dental services. The quality of the staff has gone down hill from before the 2020 covid pandemic. The front desk snorlax looking worker is so robotic that she literally needs to take classes in developing a personality. The office manager Angel is the worst person you can ever deal with and this place will continue to tell you to get more cleanings than the standard for a year just so they can keep charging you. This divorce from this business is the happiest decision ive made this year and I'm happy the nicer past workers have moved on from this shit hole of a place. read more

I've been going to Cosmetic Dentistry since 2014 and Dr. Puno's team is extremely welcoming, professional and caring. It's easy to book with them, change appointments in case conflicts come up and ask for advice. I also appreciate the health precautions that they take, such as all staff wear face masks, a simple health intake questionnaire for patients at each appointment, and availability of hand sanitizer everywhere. Masks for patients are optional. Being located so conveniently by BART, I continued going to Cosmetic Dentistry even though I didn't work in the neighborhood or live in the city anymore because of its convenient location and grade A service that I can trust. When I wanted to get evaluated for braces as an adult, Dr. Puno ran a lot of X-rays and captured a lot of data that she explained to me in extreme detail. It gave me a lot of confidence in getting braces with Dr. Puno. Previous dentists told me I would need surgery to correct my bite but Dr. Puno assured me that I could correct my bite without surgery. Since then, braces have reduced stress stored in my jaw, corrected my bite and prevented the wearing away of my jaw bone. When anyone asks, I always recommend Dr. Puno to anyone looking for a dentist or orthodontist! You just don't know how thankful I am to have Dr. Puno as my dentist. Agreed indeed this office is top notch. I had a toothache incident over a long period weekend and I contacted Dr. Puno she didn't think twice but offered to see me the same day. She is always above and beyond with patient's needs. She never shy to buy new equipment, the newest toy she got is the laser machine which helps with healing. She used on me when she saw me for that emergency visit and wow I think that machine is a magic. It help calm down swollen face. All her staff is amazing. From front to back. I have been coming to this practice for many years, and highly recommend them for all of your dentistry needs. The staff is very caring and professional, and I'm always greeted with smiling faces. I am also impressed with how this practice continues to educate themselves on the newest techniques and equipment. The dental hygenists use a magnetostrictive ultrasonic scaler which leaves my mouth feeling clean without all that scraping. They even make crowns and retainers in house, saving me from having to schedule a second appointment. More recently, I have had reconstructive work on my teeth, which involved braces, gum surgery, retainers, etc. A big shout out to Dr. Puno and Khanba for their tireless work and level of perfectionism. Angel helped me out with all the insurance questions I have and christine helped me with my scheduling. Every time I go in, we chat up a storm; theyre so funny and outgoing. I came to this office because I wanted to get braces and I've never looked back! Dr. Puno did a great job explaining the process and the plans to get my teeth corrected. I used to be really anxious when I had dentist appointments, but not after switching here. All the staff are friendly and make you feel comfortable during each appointment. I love my talks with Khanba, making my appointments fly by each month and she always makes sure I'm comfortable, applying Vaseline when my lips are dry. This review is for Dr Puno. It has been a difficult decision for me to write this review as Dr Puno seemed very friendly and sweet. She had a pleasant manner that put you as ease when you are with her. Her office was modern and impressive with new technology advanced equipments. Her staff is often friendly, attentive and smiley. But that is when the positives end. And I think it's unfair not to mention her lack of expertise which has caused me thousand of dollars to fix a work that was done improperly by her. I had a crown that was done by Dr Puno in early 2014. It came off after a week ( I should have known then). I came back to redo it . And in June 2017, it came off again. By this time, Dr Puno suggested me to have crown lengthening and a new crown which would have cost me $3000+. The other option was to have a tooth implant ($5000+) which would have been better for the longterm as a crown without an implant would come off again after some years, she advised me. So a little more than 3 years was the lifespan of my poor, unfortunate crown. Not to mention in the mean time, food was keep getting deeply stuck between this crown and the tooth next to it causing me so much trouble flossing it. Weighting these two expensive options, I have then realized that I had other 3 crowns that were done by other dentists (before I moved to SF) many years before and still have had no problems, nothing has come off or need extra work after 15 years. AND my husband, who I had introduced her to also has had problems with his crown that was done by her. Though his was broken after 3 years instead of coming off. And food also got stuck the exact same way. I finally decided to get a tooth implant from somewhere else. But I think it is so unfair for me and my husband to have to pay for all of this because of Dr Puno's lack of expertise. If she had at least acknowledged her limitedness and offered me a partial replacement crown, OR just put a new crown in instead of telling me that my only options were either $3000 or $5000 which obviously have not been the case with my other crowns from other dentists. Not to mention that I also had a teeth whitening done in her office (2016?) that didn't provide a good outcome. I could barely tell the difference before and after. ( I had had this done few years back somewhere else that yielded much better results). read more

After a few years of ignoring Dr. Puno's advice to do something more substantial with my teeth grinding, jaw clicking, and tooth pain, I decided that it was time to take action. The action needed was orthodontic work to correct my jaw placement and alignment issues. I was given all the information I needed to make my decision. Once the braces journey started in August 2020, it was clear I was going to be spending a lot of time with Dr. Puno and her assistant Kimba. It's pretty important that you like and get along with the people who are going to be inches aways from your face once a month for 20+ months. They all greet me by my name. They know stuff about my life. I saw the staff more than I saw family and friends for awhile. They became my friends who do dental stuff. The office protocols were very strict, which I appreciated as we were still in lockdown mode at that time. The office manager, Angel, is super friendly and was able to help me get on the schedule if something wonky happened. Between Angel and Nikkia, they worked with my schedule to make sure my cleanings and monthly check-ins happened at the right time. While working to correct my bite, it was clear that I needed an implant to correct bad dentistry choices made when I was a kid. Space was made in my mouth to accommodate an implant. Dr. Puno was very critical of the implant created by the lab and sent it back when it wasn't up to her standards. I feel confident that her attention to detail and high standards will ensure that the implant and its crown will do its job for years. I am also very interested in understanding what is happening in my mouth, how it all works, and why things are happening. Dr. Puno was very open to explaining things to me and helped me understand how she was adjusting her approach as she could see how my mouth was responding. She was very clear in sharing that she couldn't predict how things would go or how long they would take. I appreciated that honesty. She could have easily told me things just to satisfy my questions, but she was honest, and I appreciate that. read more

I know that I've reviewed this office in the past, but I guess it wasn't on yelp. I've been going to Dr Puno'a for over 10years and my husband over 15years. Obviously we are super happy with our many experiences here. We're not just the coming in for dental cleaning once or twice a year type of couple. We've both had more extensive things done. Going to the office just brings a nice and happy feeling. For us, it's always been that way. It's just a friendly environment with a soft touch. They have a lot of technology there that many things can be done in-house - such as a full head CT scan. Other offices have to send you out meaning less time at work/play and more time making appointments. . They even have a laser machine that helps promote healing among other things. (COVID: they purchased an air scrubber that sterilizes the air to surgical grade and they also have a "vacuum" for anything airborne. Dr Puno trained with international mentors who use orthodontics for things other than straightening one's teeth. She is able to utilize this training to see me holistically. Since working, I've noticed through the years that I constantly have had neck and shoulder pain from muscle tightness. Because the body is all connected, this has also affected the rest of my body. I spend hundreds on massages throughout the year only to never get enough relief. I've only had relief once when the masseuse literally used her elbow on my neck to loosen the muscles. It was a bite issue which caused my slender neck not look so slender. Now that I'm getting this issue fixed, I've noticed that I don't have to stretch and rub my neck and shoulder muscles any more. Since I'm still mid-treatment, there is still a little tightness but it's something I'm no longer conscientiously aware of. Ortho sux but .... Buttressing this treatment is Dr Cheung who provides surgical support. I've gone through two surgeries with her and Kimba. I am always happily surprised to find little to no blood after waking. I know that I am working with a skilled surgeon which puts one at ease. Better yet, Dr Cheung works in the same office, so again more convenience. I am not Dr Amy's patient, but I noticed that she always says hi and is friendly when she sees me coming in. That means a lot to someone sensitive to customer service. I live in the city with a dental office on the first floor. I would never switch. Luckily we are similarly aged so my mouth will be taken care of until we are both in our 80's LOL. read more

From quality of service to convenience to even technology (they use super high tech hardware which is cool and very on brand with SF tech culture) I've had nothing but great experiences here. The staff are super friendly and it's clear that they all love working there which is always a good sign. One dental hygienist in particular, Delina, gives the best cleanings I've ever had in my 30 years of life! Super gentle in her movements yet thorough in her technique I was very impressed at how comfortable she made me while also providing an extremely quality cleaning. I had been looking for a dentist for quite some time as I was looking to get some implants. I'm so glad I found this place, it was clean the staff were very pleasant but most importantly the way I was treated by the dental assistant (Alexis) while getting the actual work done was outstanding. I was very nervous getting my implants but Alexis made sure I was heard and talked me through the whole process to ensure that I was calm throughout the procedure.
