Updated review: 14 porcelain veneers executed perfectly! It was an absolute pleasure with Dr. Skoulas. She was honest, kind, communicative and understanding. My Invisalign course required an extension - we were able to seamlessly request more aligners and get the bite perfect before bonding the porcelain veneers. As a cosmetic dentist, it is important do understand aesthetic, size, shape, etc and provide advice to your clients. Thankfully Dr.Skoulas has a great eye and is a perfectionist with her work. The before and after speaks for itself! The veneers are beautiful! They are youthful, creating a large and bright toothy smile! The office is easily accessible, and Adriana (the front desk manager and office manager) is super helpful with insurance questions, appointments, etc. Chelsea - the dental assistant is also stellar! Dr. Skoulas is extremely detailed, empathetic, and has a keen eye for cosmetic dentistry. I was lucky enough to find Dr. Skoulas through a recommendation from a Master Dental Ceramist, Vincent Devaud. The two of them work together on high end cosmetic cases that involve veneers and/or crowns. In my case, I had 2 restorations for my front two teeth that needed to be replaced after ~20 years. The work Dr. Skoulas did was absolutely exquisite! First and foremost, for my case, I needed to go through a few rounds of temps for the restorations, to ensure good aesthetic result was achieved for the finals, in addition to having the gums properly heal after some chairside laser gum contouring. Dr. Skoulas is detailed and understands nuances in smile design and as a result she was able to communicate some minor revisions on the temps to the Dental Ceramist, Vincent Devaud. The attention to detail is what sets her apart from other cosmetic dentists I have dealt with. In addition, I had an issue with my bite that Dr. Skoulas was able to remedy through this process as well. All in all, I would highly recommend Dr. Skoulas for all things dentistry, but even more so, for dental cosmetic cases. She has an excellent practice and team... I did not have a good experience here. Dr. Skoulas was not gentle and didn't communicate well with me - barely asked any questions about what was going on. Poked hard directly on the tooth that was painful. Everything felt rushed and I was pushed towards expensive solutions. The work I did get wasn't well done (probably due to the lack of communication). I needed more work done so I went to another dentist because I didn't trust that the appropriate level of care would be taken with the rework. I had a terrible experience and thought they were very ridged. My old dentist, who I loved, closed shop and referred me here. Sent over all my history including multiple Xrays. When I showed up, they insisted I take new Xrays. I never have cavities, have amazing oral hygiene, and just wanted a teeth cleaning. When I politely declined, they said that it was a hard rule that all new patients get new Xray's even if their previous dentist sent them on. They were not nice about it and this does not pass the smell test. I would recommend finding another dentist. read more

I have had issues with my bite/jaw for many years, and although I've seen many dentists/specialists, I've not found relief. I started looking for a provider with some more experience with the challenges I was having, and talked to a few offices before making an appointment with Dr. Skoulas. To start, I absolutely can't complain about getting dental work done in a beautiful, historic building with views of the city from the patient chair! And Abbott, the door greeter and certified good boy is always a nice benefit when he's working! Dr. Skoulas very clearly understood my symptoms and made immediate recommendations from that first appointment, including wisdom teeth removal, and she also connected me with her colleague who is a TMJ specialist and provides exercises to help with TMJ pain. Dr. Skoulas also took more care and did far more to diagnose my issues than I've ever experienced. One thing that she did that was new was evaluate my bite, which she found was improper/misaligned and contributing to pain. Her recommendations were far beyond what I'd been recommended in the past (most recs I've had in the past were not sustainable, like soft food diets or completely eliminating stress...without addressing any physical issues), and while it took me a bit to come to terms with what would need to be done, I can confidently say this was the BEST decision. Dr. Skoulas recommended Invisalign, a deprogrammer to perfect my bite and relax my jaw, composite veneers (add on only) to rebuild what I had lost from grinding/improper bite and to protect my teeth, and finally a night guard/retainer to protect my new investment. We also did Botox to help with jaw pain, and whitening prior to the veneers. It was a long process, but the physical and aesthetic difference is truly astounding. At the very basic level, my teeth fit together the way they are supposed to! What a thought. My pain has significantly decreased and continues to do so, the tension I used to feel in my jaw isn't there anymore, and it just feels right. Beyond that, my teeth are absolutely beautiful and look so natural! Dr. Skoulas was committed to making sure they were perfect and the way that I wanted them. She had a very detailed and thorough approach to all of this, which I appreciate. Dr. Skoulas and her staff are all really kind, and have been super patient and helpful throughout this process. I really had come to the conclusion that I would be in pain and have limited mobility in my jaw for the rest of my life, but that is no longer the case! Extremely clean office with great views of the city from each chair (hehe). I got so much work done here (invisalign, replacing old crowns, fillings, teeth whitening). I have just completed extensive prosthodontic work under Dr. Skoulas's care, and I am very happy with the results. The attached photos show what an amazing improvement Dr. Skoulas was able to implement on my behalf. The process was long - multiple appointments over three months - but everything was well organized and prescheduled so I could plan around them. I have no doubts about Dr. Skoulas's expertise, which is evident in the final results. In some ways just as important as her skill set is the calm, focused, detailed approach she has that inspires confidence and optimism when going through an uncomfortable process. She and her staff always made me feel welcome and valued, and I appreciated how careful the office staff has been in ensuring a very healthy environment for their patients during this era of COVID. I think it is also worth noting that while the total estimated cost of the extensive crown and veneer work I had done was high, Dr. Skoulas accepted the substantially reduced amounts established by Delta Dental, my insurance carrier. I was welcomed with a cheery hello, and a cup of coffee! I came to Dr. Skoulas for a bit of a smile make over. My two front teeth had old crowns on them that had become discolored + a bit crooked. Before even starting my Cosmetic assessment, Dr. Skoulas took comprehensive x rays to check the quality of my previous dental work, and caught a crack in an old crown my previous dentist missed! She fixed it up, and now it feels SO much better! Next was my cosmetic work. She went over the options for my smile and took "before photos" so I could compare my old look, with the new one she would design. She took molds of my teeth and from that mold corrected the alignment and shape, and created a temporary set of veneers for my 6 front teeth, while the permanent ones were being created. While waiting for my custom veneers to be made, she mailed me a teeth whitening kit so that she could match the veneers to the whitest possible version of my teeth. The veneers came quickly! She applied them beautifully and shaped and smoothed them to my liking. MY SMILE LOOKS AMAAAAZING! I could not be happier with them! They are bright, straight, and strikingly beautiful! The whole experience was top notch, and everyone compliments me on how beautiful my smile is. I would highly recommend her for all your general + cosmetic dentistry needs. Another victim of the 5 star reviews unfortunately, I was a fool for not heeding the ample warnings of others outlined so clearly here. High level summary is I came in for a routine filing and ended up spending 12 sessions and over $5,000+ out of pocket. Other dentists have indicated that she may have purposefully dug too deep and prepared the tooth wrong multiple times to extract more dollars (hard to prove). Either way, I hope other don't fall into the same trap I did. Note that many of the 5-star reviewers seem to only have 1-2 reviews on their account. In addition, the practice is notorious for incentivizing great reviews and refusing to refund you unless you sign an NDA. I went to Dr. Skoulas for a routine cleaning and subsequent filling that ultimately resulted in 12 more appointments: 1) emergency root canal because she "dug too deep", 2) new crown, 3) a re-do of that new crown since it was done improperly, 4) improper impression, 5) the re-do causing a need for crown lengthening because she "dug too deep" and 6) a ultimate recommendation for tooth extraction and implant. This leads me to over $5,000+ in out-of-pocket costs for one tooth that other dentists who've looked at the original x-rays said just needed a routine filling. This is perhaps the reason why the practice has moved from a nice, storefront location into an older office on top of an office building -- the business is struggling and as a result is finding ways to extract more dollars from consumers. She offered to refund me the cost of the original crown for $600 if I signed an NDA (in exchange for my silence). I signed it and asked her for a refund, but because I filed a grievance to my insurance to cover the additional costs, which investigated her practice, she refused to honor her agreement because it "wasted her time." Dental malpractice is very hard to prove and get reimbursed for -- but either way this does not paint a picture of an "amazing, friendly, BEST dentist, caring" doctor that the Yelp reviews here suggest. That dentist would not be refusing to honor her own agreement for a mere six hundred dollars after a patient has suffered over 12 appointments, pain, and thousands of dollars under her care. read more

I have been going to Skoulas, DDS, for about a year now. I have enjoyed my experience and would recommend. While they might have a slightly more liberal recommendation policy when it comes to preventative care (i.e. fillings), I have not found this to be fraudulent nor misguided. The costs have also been appropriate for my insurance schedule, and I have not seen any indication of malicious billing practices. They do suggests elective procedures (i.e. teeth whitening, etc.), but have always been clear about the optional nature of those and are transparent about cost. I have sensitive nerve endings, but have not had an issue during my procedures with Skoulas, DDS. The office is well maintained and the staff are friendly and professional. read more

I am so grateful to have found Dr. Skoulas online. At the time I was undergoing ortho care with another provider and wasn't super confident about the direction/time or service I was being provided. She gave me valuable feedback to provide my ortho which made all the different in my results, though I was still unhappy with the end result. I knew that my smile could be better. COULD YOU STOP CALL ME? Dr.Skoulas destroyed my front teeth and this experience makes me miserable so I want to erase it from my memory. However she keeps calling me even though I constantly block their number like the other spam calls I receivd. It was a long time ago but some Sunday, she called me said "please write a review on Yelp", so here I am. Long story short, I REALLY REGRET SEEING THIS DENTIST. Poor skill and all about money. I went to several dentists after my the procedures I had done at Skoulas, and after viewing the X-rays all of them have commented on how poorly it was done. One of the root canals I received from Skoulas was so problematic that eventually the tooth was just destroyed. Even the cosmetics of the crowns she attached look very poor. Cavities that were filled were not fully shielded and had to re-done by a better dentist. I don't like my smile because all my front teeth was poorly operated on by Skoulas. I definitely not interested in going back there at any appointments. So please don't call me anymore. read more
