I am not easy to trust medical professionals, but almost immediately upon meeting Pam I felt comfortable and confident that she had always my best interest at heart. She allowed my husband to come to sessions with me, skyped with me when we couldn't meet in person (and therefore got to know my pug!), and overall went above and beyond in every way. If finances would allow I would see Pam regularly forever - fortunately in our two years together she has brought me to a place where I can be independent and only need to come in once and a while to check in. This is enormous progress for me, and I genuinely don't think anyone else could have gotten me there. When I first went to see her, I was a wreck health-wise - mentally and physically. Every nutritionist or eating disorder program I went to before I found Pam denied me because I wasn't "actively" sick - because somehow self awareness about your issues cancels out the need for help - even if you don't know how to get truly healthy on your own. I found Pam on a whim through a google search. Her friendly picture made me feel comfortable (no surprise there, after knowing her for two years I practically feel like we're related), so I gave her a call and the rest is history. Pam is a highly educated professional who is incredibly smart, warm, and lovely - and she's up to date on the goings on in terms of contemporary food politics AND trends in healthy eating. She helped me take control of unhealthy eating habits. Our sessions during my pregnancy helped me focus on making healthy, safe choices for me and my baby, and I was able to keep up with that in the months since baby was born. I used to have problems with binging, and alternatively I was obsessed with weighing and measuring my food to the ounce - a scale at home and one at work, which also led to depriving myself of food I wanted, which continued a cycle of bad habits... Since my sessions with Ashely, I've kicked the binging, and I no longer feel like I have to diet. I barely even weigh myself and I just feel like I know how much to eat and what my body needs. Allowing myself to have "fun" snacks in moderation and not deprive myself, Ashley's suggestions, made a world of difference. I can finally get the BIG box of oreos and make it last, and I'm no longer scared to keep other snacks in the house. I feel satisfied and happy when snacking, and I have ice cream almost every night, but I know my days are balanced with good proteins, fruits, veggies, and other nutritious options. The first person I spoke with was a lovely woman who was very helpful. She said that they didn't accept my insurance. Once I heard the cost, I told her I would have to shop around. Once I hung up, I remembered that I have a Visa debit card linked to my health reimbursement account that I typically use to pay for non-covered things. I called back and got a different person. I explained the conversation that I had 60 seconds prior when I called and when I asked if they would accept my card (I've found that not everyone accepts 'FSA' cards as they are called) was met with "you should call your insurance company and find out if you're covered". I explained that I was already told that they didn't accept my insurance but simply wanted to know if they would accept the card. Again I got push back telling me to call my insurance company. When I asked to speak with the woman I had previously spoken with, I was told she was unavailable. I then said that I typically could find out if the card was accepted from the billing department and asked if I could speak to them. Again I was told they were unavailable. I then asked for the man's name. He said Todd though I'm not sure if he was being truthful since he know I was not happy by now. I explained that I would be writing a review to let people know how obnoxious and unhelpful he was. I am a business owner and if one of my people dealt with a potential client like that I would absolutely want to know. I also decided to take it a step further and tell the person who referred me to Real You what happened so that they didn't refer anyone else there.
