He was scheduled for surgery by the vet 10 days ago. I called 5 days after my initial visit, which is when I was told that my vet had left the clinic/hospital. I brought him back into meet the new vet and to give her a chance to see what she would be doing with the ear and tooth. This morning, I received a call from the receptionist to inform me that my second vet had left the clinic/hospital. I must say, I was very impressed by both vets with whom I interacted. The receptionist gave me a choice of two doctors that could complete the procedure, but that was it - just two names without any explanation or a reference to their website so I could review their credentials. The most concerning part of this situation is that these vets either left by choice or they were fired. It's hard to imagine that they were fired, since they were two of the most competent vets I have met over the course of 40 years and six dogs. Since general anesthesia carries a certain amount of risk, it's unsettling to think I was given two names without any explanation no other information. I'm going to reach out to the tech who was with us to see if I can get a recommendation on who I should choose. Am I crazy??? Don't you think that the Director/President of the hospital would call in this type of situation instead of a receptionist and a website that offers absolutely no information on their "team", which is one of the key components of the menu on their website. They've been open for four years or so and they haven't finished their website yet. Could that be due to the fact that they have so much turnover that it doesn't make sense to add bios? My first visit there, which was 5+ years ago, we had an appointment at 3:00 pm. We arrived 10 minutes early only to be kept waiting for 3:45 minutes. By the time we got out of there, we had been there for 4 1/2 hours and a bill for $850 for 2 CBC tests and some broad spectrum antibiotics. I vowed to never return. I guess the urgency of the current situation trumped my vow not to return. I have been wondering if these people have pets or kids. Anyone with either would probably understand how inadequate it is to call and provide two names without any further detail, other than that one was female and one was male. There was no suggestion to bring my dog into the clinic for a quick review to see what they would be doing during the surgical procedure. I find so many things are beyond the pale of my imagination with regard to how best to handle a situation where two vets that had scheduled surgery left, each within five days after meeting both. I've called the office frantic multiple times, over very specific unique problems dealing with seizures and aggression. I warned the vet he was either overdosed on medication or had some bacterial or parasitic infection. I've gotten no results about either. Just the most basic blood work and fecal sample. Even though, I've been more than thorough in my explanations of symptoms, I got a superficial diagnosis and basic care. This is no Dr. House. My dogs life has been hanging in the balance and I haven't even been given Penicillin or Doxy to start him on in case it's something like Leptospirosis. This is standard practice when these infections are expected due to the need for quick treatment. This clinic has basic diagnostics and did not inform me they were basic until after I paid. I was referred to the University of Florida and their long wait list. Meanwhile, my entire household and business could be exposed to infections, bacteria, or parasites. I just don't think this is high caliber vet care in my experience. After rehabbing over 400 animals, I can say without question, I've never been this ignored by a vet. I wish I had the vet license to get the medications to treat my own dog, as I've made more progress alone in the cornfield so to speak. Update: My dog is dead. I went to the same vet one day before and they did pretty much nothing but tell me my guard dog doesn't want to be a guard dog anymore. All the while he lie dying in my garage. I explained I couldn't move him and the doctor couldn't even be bothered to call me back or check in in anyway. Absolutely awful experience and my dog didn't need to die. No one would listen.

We had taken our Havanese in for a dental, ear cleaning and skin tag removal (3 smaller than a pencil eraser) but they removed a spot that just scabbed over between his eyes that really didn't need anything done and completely missed the large skin tag on his cheek that was marked in purple permanent marker!! Upon taking him back for the stitches to be removed as well as the tag on his cheek, they missed the stitches between his eyes and my HUSBAND had to TELL them to remove them - THEN on top of all that, the stitches on his back which the skin had grown over, we were "told" they had fallen out but you could feel something...MY HUSBAND had to remove the ONE stitch that DIDN'T FALL OUT from his back when we got home with a sterile needle and tweezers‼ SERIOUSLY⁉ With a bill at almost $800⁉ It's not even the money - we love our furbabies. I probably wouldn't have even written any review if it wasn't for RACHEL who obviously needs retraining or at least taught some etiquette/manners when you're representing a business ~ especially in a town as small as Sebastian. He's exceptionally knowledgeable, compassionate, and genuinely dedicated to his patients. When our large dog suddenly became ill, Dr. Schwartz was out of town--yet he still made time to do a FaceTime exam during our very first call and was able to help stabilize our boy within hours. The day he returned, he came straight to our home for an in-person exam. His in-home visit fee is very reasonable, but what truly sets him apart is the level of care: he answers the phone, checks in personally, and follows up multiple times. In our experience, that kind of attentiveness is almost unheard of. Dr. Schwartz is a one-in-a-million veterinarian, and we feel incredibly fortunate to have found him.
