We spoke to Sue who gave us pricing for what we were searching for and informed her if she could do any better on the pricing; She came back a few minutes later with a lower price, but it was still not cheaper than their competitor. Sue before we were leaving had us fill out a form with our information and email address and she mentioned she was going to send me a proposal or draft invoice with the pricing on it via email . When I asked when I might receive that, she suddenly says we do not do that here. What I do not understand is if you are offering me an email with a proposal or draft invoice, why bring it up in the first place if you do not offer it. We wound up purchasing our sofa and chaise at a competitor in Columbia, MD. who had much better service and the pricing was less expensive. I would have to say if you are looking at high end furniture, please visit this store for comparison shopping, but I would not recommend you purchase here or expect someone to ask you if you need help. I used that as an opportunity to visit, and I got to explore the rest of the store. They're located in that random giant industrial area that runs alongside Route 1 on the side where the train tracks are. It can definitely be easy to miss, and parking in the lot itself is quite limited. The adjacent street allows parking too, but sheesh it gets crowded. The vintage store is bigger than it may appear from the outside, and there's truly a LOT to sort through. Furniture, trinkets, pillows... you name it, they have it. There were some small tables and stools that almost found a home with me, but I was like... where am I going to put these things?! My kitchen is already being to be overloaded, and I rather not have that same energy rippling through the rest of the house. I ended up seeing this beautiful and vintage black and gold highball and shaker set that fit my bar / living room space really well, and I couldn't resist. We were greeted by Thomas, who gave us an overview of the store, provided his suggestions and pretty much gave us our space to roam the store. He also suggested that we take pictures of what we like so that if we come back, he can point us in the right direction. The store is huge and many varieties of what I was looking for and a wide range of prices. It wasn't until we got to the very end that I found a sectional that was in my price range. Wasn't really the color I wanted but I can work with it by adding some accent pillows. Thomas as able to make sure that we got it at the price advertised and other negotiated items. He was very pleasant and not the pushy person just trying to get a sale. Hopefully the couch will come soon so I can get rid of this other one.

I had stopped here previously and saw an item I thought would have been perfect. But, with it being so large, and me being only me, I wouldn't be able to move this unless I had some help. With a call out to family, I knew I would still be too late for that item. See, the one thing I do not like about these places is that if you purchase, you have a set amount of time to pick it up and take it home. I know I would not be able to secure that item. But, when the cavalry arrived, I was set to go here and make a purchase, even if it wasn't for the item I was hoping for. I am kind of glad that I didn't get that item, because looking back now, it would not have fit in my apartment in the least. I am happy with the two items that I did end up purchasing. For less than $40 I came home with two items, even if I did have to make two trips. I came on a good day here. One thing to keep in mind is check out what tags are discounted even more. One tag will be 75% off and others will be about 40% off. I can confirm that the prices here are outrageous. If it wasn't for the discounted pricing that day, I would have spent close to $250. I did get a deep discount, but if I would have come another day, it would have been a different story. Biggest complaint here, is that when they receive new, unopened items, they really do overprice them. They really go out of their way to make it unobtainable just to keep you coming back.

At that time, I was very pleased with their work - so much so, I referred 3 family members and another friend - all of which also paid thousands of dollars to Dream House for various purchases. Two years ago, I reached out to Wendy again - this time for help when I purchased a second home in Florida. I spent $6,500K with Dream House on curtain rods, finials, rings, etc. and it ended up being an absolute fiasco. When the installer (whom I hired privately in Florida) arrived, he said the drapes could not be hung with these curtain rods because the drapes were too heavy. When I reached out to Wendy and Cassie, I learned they were both on vacation together in Spain. Wendy's response from Spain: "...how were we to know they were super heavy? We ordered rods for regular draperies." This response is from a woman who has 44 years of design experience? -- i.e. Wouldn't you inquire about the drapery fabric before ordering the rods and/or let a client know the limitations of the rods when selecting drape fabric? The drape installer left after I received this text from Wendy in Spain, "...I understand how you feel, but I worked very, very hard on this for you...spent hours on this. I've used all these rods before..I have never had an issue. At this point I'm on vacation and would rather not have to take care of this right now." Though Wendy admitted later that she should have never taken on my design project (true!), they only refunded me $1,100 for curtain rod hardware that I returned to them - indicating to me that the curtain rod company would not allow anything else to be returned since is it was custom ordered, and I also had to pay a 20% restocking fee. Disgusted, I asked Cassie to mail the $1,100 check to my Maryland address; instead she mailed it to my Florida home. When I requested that Cassie re-send the check to me at my Maryland home as requested, she told me she could only do this if I paid a $40 check stop payment fee. The moral of my story: Buyer beware! If you run into any issues, be assured from my experience that neither Wendy nor Cassie will take ANY ownership of the problem. Beyond a frustrating and disappointing experience from a once very loyal customer. My only solace is that I have repeated my horrible experience to many friends and family who will also never shop at Dream House again.

We checked her bag and there was literally nothing. Then suddenly she went, I only wanted to make sure. Make sure of what? She had just said she saw her do it. Instead of admitting she was wrong and apologizing, she started blaming my niece, saying she wasn't supposed to touch anything in the store. Mind you, my niece was with us the entire time, just looking around. She wasn't even running around or touching everything. We were so done with her nasty attitude and were leaving, and she was still muttering that we should watch the child. Like, seriously? She falsely accused, found nothing, and somehow we were still the problem. Customers shouldn't be treated like thieves. If dealing with people makes you this miserable, customer service probably isn't for you. At least learn some basic decency and how to admit when you're wrong.
