As 2013 draws to a close, I am still chasing down my payout for a significant % of the huge number of items I consigned. I have experienced a lapse by the staff/owner in communicating, and as the 10/26/13 reviewer noted I too feel I've gotten lowballed by them on the payout that I've received so far. I too understand that in this type of business they assume the responsibility of your consignment, stage it, pay the space rent, etc... However, at the core of a successful local small business is honesty, trust and integrity. One can not expect to be a long-standing business without those qualities -- especially in a small town where word travel quickly. read more

I have shopped here on several occasions and the majority of the time when I enter the store I too (noticed comments of several others) am ignored. I also noticed when frequent customers enter they are warmly greeted. But all in all that doesn't bother me if I'm looking for a bargain. My complaint of this store since I am the one that recommended it to a friend that needed to sell a high quality dining room suite -is how you will never be told the truth about your consignment AND when you speak to the personnel you will get a different answer every time. Like many of the others I find this place severely lacking in customer service, friendliness and professionalism. I've purchased a few expensive items from here and am never greeted when I return and am basically shunned. I actually heard this place may be closing soon as they are in financial distress. I really am not surprised given their low volume and shabby lookin consignments. This is just the best place to get furniture! They have a lot of turnover. The staff GREAT. They suggest good movers too. We are new in town and in area for next number of years. We bought a house and needed to fill a number of rooms. We got some phenomenal buys!!! You must stalk it... stuff goes quickly so if get a dry run COME BACK!! The store gets better and better over the years. I have been coming in since the store opened and had hardly any furniture in there, Now it is busting at the seams with new items from the 'Mart' at a considerable discount, as well as older unique pieces that are also much less than buying new or at a regular furniture store. I am on my fourth or fifth house that I have used this store almost exclusively to decorate them. The people here are always friendly and helpful and with this many items and dealing with clients dropping off their consignment items, it is a busy place. But I don't mind, I just take my time and dig through until my car is full. I come here to find quality items for my house at a fraction of the cost. I love this store - still!! read more

It's also kinda a "who you know" place so if the staff knows you then it's a different vibe. Also, if you are not a Trump supporter you get the cold shoulder. Every time I've been at this store, the quality and selection (and prices) of items have been unique and very high. Salespeople generally don't pay attention to me because I always wear jeans and no makeup. However, on my last trip, I brought my daughter in and we were greeted nicely, even though they were busy with inventory. And then we both wound up buying couches. They were as pleasant then as when we entered. The 4 stars are for the previous visits with no greetings. read more

One of the owners that works on Saturday is one of the rudest people I have ever meet. I will never step foot in this place again. I came in to consider consigning a few items. No thanks My Furniture is a lot nice and in better condition than what they have on there floor. I think they forgot that without consigners they wouldn't be in business. Seller beware. My item was sold for 50% less than what I asked them to sell it for on day one and I was never notified. According to their terms, the list price is reduced after 30 days, but my item sold in just 3 weeks. I wish I would have read the reviews first. They did acknowledge their mistake, but I will never trust them with another piece of furniture. The company did not abide by the terms of the agreement. To avoid a lengthy litigation process, I opted to accept a 60/40 split of proceeds in lieu of the initially agreed upon 50/50 split and document my experience on Yelp. Lastly, customer service was horrible. The younger lady at the desk didn't speak to me, possibly because her mouth was full of crackers, which she continued to eat with me standing there. After about 5 minutes of heavy crunching, she notified the store owner who first greeted me with attitude. After I addressed the owners confrontational attitude, we were able to resolve the issue peacefully. read more

If I could give negative stars I would!! Do not do business with this company! Their customer service is atrocious. A check that they sent me was stolen somewhere in route to me in January. It never made it to me, and I have been trying to get it resolved for 5 months. I have a locked mailbox so there is no way it could have been stolen out of my mailbox. I reported the missing check multiple times in January and had they put a stop payment on it when I first contacted them and asked them to do it, the check would never have been cashed. It cleared their bank well after my first phone calls. The owners of the company have done nothing even after I have left message after message requesting that they call me. At this point it is about the principal of them not taking care of their customers. They are making me work with their bank to get it resolved because their accounting person does not have a clue what to do. Their bank has not been much better but mostly it is because I am not their client. Their client is Furniture Buy Consignment. I even called their bank fraud department, asked them what needed to be done, sent the information to the accounting person and she still could not follow the process. The bank continues to tell me that the owners of the company need to be working with them to resolve it, but they will not do it. It is maddening. I will never do business with this company again and I will tell everyone I know not to as well. It looks like I am going to have to take them to small claims court. read more

Needed to update my review when I noticed it's been years since I made a comment. Was in last week and again, great experience. Planning to return this week and pick up something I left behind. Just a lot of wonderful selections of quality merchandise each time I run in there. It's a great place to keep an eye out for that special item you are searching for to decorate your home and definitely a good option for finding quality furniture pieces and lighting at an excellent discounted price. I would say this place is not friendly at all the ladies there don't really care about anybody. They pretty much ignore the whole time, and when we were buying a whole living room set they would act like we were stupid. And she was pretty rude and kept saying you can not take anything back. Today's experience at Furniture Consignment Gallery in Colleyville, Texas left me totally shocked, insulted, flabbergasted and speechless (till now). I can honestly say, "I don't think I have EVER been treated more rudely or unprofessionally at a retail establishment"! The FACTS of the incident: I have shopped at Furniture Consignment Gallery many times over the years. I stopped in there yesterday and ending up purchasing almost $600. of furniture. I was not expecting to buy anything, so while making my purchase; I told them I would need to return the next day with a truck to pick-up my things. This morning, I called the store to inform them that I would be by to pick-up my purchases in a couple of hours. When a friend and I arrived at the store, we were told the guy that loads the purchases was not there. That was not communicated earlier when I called, but I was perfectly willing and able to load my truck myself. I then asked the employee where my purchases were located so I could begin loading the truck; the employee found 3 of the 4 purchases for us, but was unable to find the final item. The employee said she called the owner and that she would be at the store in a couple of minutes. We were outside waiting for her arrival and after waiting a lengthy amount of time, we finally went inside where Robin, the owner was sitting behind the counter. She was totally unaware or concerned that we had been waiting for her. When I inquired about the final upholstered chair, Robin Vander Stoep, the owner, said she had sold and loaded that chair yesterday. I reminded her, with receipt in hand, that she did sell it to ME. Robin then remembered the transaction in detail. She continued by saying, "Well, I loaded it in a SUV yesterday!" She repeated this comment several times as she continued to look on her computer. Finally I said, "You keep repeating that the sold chair was taken yesterday. Are you accusing me of stealing by taking the chair yesterday and coming back today"? My friend then calmly spoke up and said, "She does not have a SUV", and then Robin looked directly at her and said, "This does not concern you so stay out of it." My friend then said, "I have shopped and bought many things over the years, but due to your lack of professionalism, I will never be back"! I was totally speechless at Robin's reaction. I questioned Robin about her rude response....she said my friend was the one being rude. My friend then said she would wait outside for me after she did not deserve to be spoken to like that. As my friend was leaving the store, she passed another customer who witnessed the whole exchange and was as stunned as we were. Robin, the owner finally credited my charge card, handed me the receipt and promptly turned her back to me. I asked if the transaction was complete....she said, "Yes"! Robin never showed any remorse, accepted any responsibility for the mishap or offered an apology! When I got home, I could not get this unexpected, rude, unprofessional experience out of my mind. I decided to look at other customer reviews for Furniture Consignment Gallery. What I found was very interesting. For the most part, the business got either a score of 1 OR 5 stars. The score on the reviews were about half and half. The common theme of the 1 star reviews were "rudeness" by buyers while shopping and questionable business practices by sellers. Finally, today's incident exposed multiple weaknesses and flaws of Furniture Consignment Gallery! A consignment store is basically an agent to sell someone else's merchandise to a third-party consumer. I was the third-party consumer today, but many of my friends have consigned furniture for this store to sell. There was not any inventory organization or security measures to protect the "buyer" or "seller". The "seller "of the upholstered chair, now has no chair OR the money from the sale of the chair OR an explanation on the location of the chair! Sorry, your $300. chair was loaded in a SUV! In closing, everyone makes mistakes or can have a bad day, but this unfortunate mishap quickly escalated due to the unprofessional behavior of the owner, Robin Vander Stoep, who could not accept responsibility for her mistake, control her temper, show any remorse or offer an earned apology! There are plenty of other business owners that value and respect their customers.... they are the ones that will earn my dollars and loyalty in the future! read more

Upon moving I placed a piano on consignment in October. The piano sold in October and was not notified it sold. 2 weeks ago I called the store and was advised the piano sold and I would receive a check. I called again, 2 weeks later and the check had not been sent. When I inquired as to why I had not received a check in October and why I wasn't notified, I was told they do not notify customers when their item sells and that it was my responsibility to contact them. This is a horrible and unethical business practice and contrary to what I was told when I placed the item on consignment. They make money on other peoples money. read more

I was very happy to find this store. At the time I just moved into a home and wanted to redo the whole place. Every time I would go past the store they weren't open ( I was too early), so I went by later in day. I walked in the door and I was ignored by all the sales staff. Usually this does not bother me, but I didn't even get a "Hello" from anyone. The woman that came in shortly after me got a very warm reception. That's ok. I proceeded to look around and the prices were not such a good bargain. That's when I noticed there was a sales person watching me very intently. I have owned my own retail business and have been in sales for many many years, and I knew that look ( I also heard the owner tell them to go watch that woman over there). I knew I wasn't " dressed" for the occasion of shopping, but you don't follow a person like that. I had quite a bit of money to spend that day. I did see a few things that were well priced, but after being treated like that I spent my money elsewhere. My advice is if you go there than look like you "belong" or you will get the cold shoulder. read more

I have shop a numbers of times at this business and the out come is always the same. Terrible! No customer service, interaction, help etc..... Today I attempted to purchase a set of glass top tables and the red headed woman with a big but didn't even want to be bothered to get up off the desk to help me. The only thing she could say is the packaging boy will be in at 1230, that meant I would have waited for 45 mins for help. Who would leave a business at the hands of someone like this. To say the lease I left without buying anything. I have no plans of ever going back. I will go to Furniture Buy Consignment in Lewisville, McKinney, Ft Worth, Frisco they are very glad to see you come. read more

WARNING!! Do not consign anything with these people. They will not communicate with you. They will not return calls and will lie to you about the condition of your items even after an inspectionis done and everything looks fine. They will sell your items at garage sale prices then if you ask for an explanation they will tell you "read your contract" Robin and Nancy will both make up stories ( different) as to how your items where damaged when recieved. read more

I read one of the other reviews here and laughed a bit because she was correct. I have visited this store many times and I always dress like a scumbag according to the "CollyWood" rules. I usually have on basketball shorts, T shirt and flip flops. I too get the unwelcome reception from the staff that wishes they had a store on Rodeo drive. But nonetheless I am hunter/buyer of nice furnishings and will look where I need to in order to find a good deal. I had eyeballed a great sofa/loveseat combo for a couple of weeks and was quite surprised by the great price that was attached. On 2 separate occasions I asked if this price included both sofa & loveseat and was told yes. When I came back and pulled the trigger as I was paying up at the counter I was now told "oh, we made a mistake and priced this wrong that is the price for the sofa" I mentioned that this person had previously told me twice that was the price for both. She then magically pulled a number out of the air for the loveseat which was now almost double the listed price. I mentioned that it was unfortunate that they had made that mistake and I would like the set price that was advertised. I was told they could not do that. I then made a reasonable offer and was told no. This was probably about a year or so ago. I drive by this place everyday and thought to myself today, maybe I'll go back in and take a look around. So I figured I would look online to see if they had a website with items posted and came across these reviews. I thought I would share my past experiences. I am going to stop in and look around and will update with a new review if things have changed. I will say they have great items as one would expect no less from all the McMansions in "CollyWood". Their prices are high as can also be expected. They had gone to a system in the past of a tiered pricing system according to how long the piece has been on the showroom floor which I like, but also dislike. I have noticed on several occasions consignors bringing in merchandise and saying a very reasonable price of what they are looking for and then seeing the listed price MUCH higher. I understand that it is a business and they take the risk and pay the rent, etc. But I just think they start out to high on price. Also actually had a friend consign several items and got lowballed by them on the payout and took quite some time to get the actual payout. read more

I too have had a horrible experience with this business. I have bought and sold several items here. I am a millionaire and I don't dress up at all, when I shop there I am totally ignored like I am crap, but I still look for bargains so I put up with the Stiffness. I consigned a lot of pieces and read the contract very carefully. I stopped in and seen some of my items on hold in the 1st couple weeks on contract. I waited 2 months and had to ask for payment. By the way, it states in the contract you have to ask for payment or they won't pay you! So when she wrote the check she said the amount was figured wrong that the furniture sold in the 2nd month, so she lowered the payout. The contract also says that if your furniture goes on hold they will pay you the hold fee. Not only did she not pay me the fee, she penalized me for the furniture selling at a later date. One of the employees that worked there told me she won't pay, and that she asked her why and the response was "I have bills to pay, if they don't ask for their money to bad". I too don't know how she stays in business. She has nice stuff but who would consign when they don't pay...Not sure what the high and mighty attitude is because this is the personality of WT read more
