We were mildly surprised to find this local establishment that sold quality furniture. We didn't have high expectations except for the Yelp reviews which were very positive. And in our case, it was well-deserved. Eun Soon greeted us and after letting her know what we were looking for, showed us some really interesting items. She showed us a sleeper from Finland which met all our needs. It was a Luonto Nico King sleeper. It would take a few weeks to get in. Semi, the other half of the store staff, was our contact after this point and she really delivered. After the sleeper was delivered, we noticed there was a 3cm gash in the corner of one of the arms. It matched a gash in the bubble wrap so probably happened in transit. Anyway, the manufacturer was not the most responsive in getting this addressed although they filed a claim with the freight company. After the Christmas holidays, we contacted the manufacturer again who then told us they could not give us information directly and we would have to work with Furniture Innovation. Bummer since it's been weeks since they were notified. We then got in touch with Semi, who promptly put in an order for the arm, which could be replaced instead of swapping the entire sleeper. The replacement part did not match the original so a new part had to be ordered. Instead of us waiting another few weeks for the replacement, FI removed an arm from one of the same sleepers they had in the store and had the repair team come back on the same day and swap out the arm. They knew we already waited weeks for a resolution and worked out something out so we didn't have to wait even longer. We very much appreciated the extra effort on their part to make sure we were taken care of. Also, much kudos to the delivery/repair team who also went above first noticing the part was not an exact match, then came back the same day to do the repair. We would definitely go back to Furniture Innovation for future purchases, which we're already thinking about. Great people to work with. read more

I love this store. Female owned and operated, family business. Their furniture is so well made and at an amazing price. We bought from them almost a decade ago when they were in an old location in Potrero Hill and bumped into their store today - serendipitous and so joyful. We found the most amazing hardwood acacia coffee table, and Lee was so helpful and kind with our super fussy toddler who was not having the shopping experience one bit. They were super patient with getting it to loaded into our car, and protected it like pros - it's now in our home office without a single scratch. Wonderful experience. I went in needing a sleeper sofa visiting family. They had a very nice selection and most impressive was a collection of Luonto couches they had from Finland. I needed it fast, and they did not have one available in their current inventory. It saddens me to leave such a negative review but I want other ppl to know innovative furniture has no sense of what customer service or satisfaction is. September 2019 I communicated with Semi (owners niece/sales associate) about a few items I would like to purchase. Semi was very helpful at the beginning. She was not able to price match an online merchant for the Hemit love seat and sofa but she did give me a discount which I greatly appreciated. Semi was very responsive and communicated with me until items were delivered to my house. The Hemit love seat and sofa are very stylist but not very practical. Three weeks after receiving the love seat and sofa, the springs on both items came loose and squeaked when pressure was applied. A side note, I do not have young children or monkeys jumping on the couches and I myself seldom sit on them. I was surprised how poorly constructed they were. Also, the side arm of the love seat came loose when I leaned on it. I contacted Semi by text and also called her. Semi asked I send her videos showing the items squeaking. I made two video clips showing my 110lb body sitting on each of the items and how noisily they squeaked when I sat on them. Semi said she will send the video clips to the manufacture (Coaster) and get back to me. A couple of days later Semi got back to me telling me she will send me replacement for the defective love seat and sofa. I was asked to send the defective items back and PAY $200 for the delivery of new items and the return of old defective items. I was shocked I would be responsible for new delivery charges. I explained to Semi, I've had the items for no more than three weeks and the items have a ONE year warranty and are defective. She said it's not the merchant's responsibility for delivery and return charges. The helpful and customer oriented Semi disappeared. She was now the greedy sales associate who no longer cared about customer satisfaction. I had to get my credit card company involved. Semi later sent me a lengthy email with the innovative furniture refund/exchange policy stating it is customer responsibility for delivery and returns. The policy did not address the return of defective items. This post is intended to alert customers to ask for return and exchange policy in writing. Customers need to ask for merchant policy and manufacture warranty about replacement charges. I was not given return and exchange policy in writing or verbally. What I was informed was there is a ONE year warranty on the items I purchased but nothing about having to pay for the delivery of replacement items or returning of defective items. It is disappointing this transaction did not work out. I was hoping to find a furniture store to furnish my whole house. read more

Everyone here has gone above and beyond to make sure I got the furniture that was right for me and my home. After a bit of a snafu with the original couch I purchased, the team worked with me to figure out a solution-ultimately landing on purchasing a different couch. I had not planned to write a review of this store, because I felt bad for the owner who had seemed sincere but perhaps overwhelmed by life and circumstances. However, since the problems never ended, I am motivated to describe my experience. I ordered a custom sofa, chair, ottoman and dining room chair on October 16. I was initially very impressed with the quality of the furniture offered by the store and the attention and guidance provided by the owner. I was told 3-4 weeks for the delivery. The store apparently uses a small LA based manufacturer, who was overwhelmed with too much business. The furniture arrived on December 1-almost 8 weeks. So twice as long. Except for the DR chair which did not arrive then at all. And, I had to personally keep checking about the status-I kept being told soon. I was initially pleased with the quality of the furniture except I realized it had been made totally wrong from the specs ordered. Each item had incorrect dimensions-too high, too deep. The owner inspected and verified the dimensions were not as ordered and she ordered a new sofa and chair for me.( I could use the ottoman.) The replacements arrived February 10. (Another 10 weeks). Also with little proactive outreach to me on the status. The dining room chair finally came also. BUT, the frame was broken, the fabric soiled and the legs not stained the correct color. I refused to accept delivery of that item. I was thinking/hoping all was now well. The items are attractive, and solid. Nice fabric. BUT, the cushion on the chair has lost 1" thickness in 2 months-the height of the items was critical for my needs. (the sofa and ottoman seem fine). I got the owner to inspect and she said she would work with the manufacturer. I heard nothing back and had to reach out today, 2 weeks later to find out the plan. Supposedly I will receive an entirely new cushion for the chair. One final issue: on the original sofa (which has a bench seat) there were clips and rings that attached the sides of the cushion to the deck, to keep the cushion in place. The replacement had the rings on the side of the cushion, but no clip on the deck to attach to. I realized this when I saw a friend sitting on the sofa and the sides of the cushion raised up several inches. I sent an email to the store about the issue, asked for assistance and received no response at all. When I asked about this today, the owner minimized the issue, said it was not a problem and that they never used such clips on their furniture. I am done! If I get the new cushion for the chair, great. But if not, I am having no more contact with the store. Just not worth the trouble. Such a disappointment since one of the reasons I decided to go with them were the Yelp reviews for quality and customer service. I see 2 recent reviews (after I made my purchase) that describe similar nightmares. Buyer beware.. read more

When we went in to look at furniture, it was pretty low pressure which was greatly appreciated. The delivery process, however, has been a long nightmare. BE AWARE and get something in writing as to when you should expect your furniture to be delivered. We ordered a set, and then found out a few weeks later that our bed frame was going to take another 3 months to be delivered because it was on back order. I am writing the review 3 months from the day we purchased our bedroom set and we STILL do not have the bed frame. In those 3 months, we have not recieved any sort of email or phone call, updating us on the status of our furniture. Also, when they did deliver our dressers a few weeks after we purchased, there was a crack in the side. They refused to deliver us a new dresser until they had the bedframe in stock, which means that we have now had a cracked dresser for 3 months. Make sure they have every piece available to be delivered or you will end up with an incomplete set and/or a damaged one :( read more

Went here to by a couch, on a saturday, i was told couch would be delivered by that fri called thurs to make sure we were still on track for delivery and was told that id have to wait till second week of april for a couch i paid for in mid march, all they had was a bunch of excuses as to why they didn't stick to there word. Word of caution get your delivery dates in writing. they tried to sell me another couch but i declined and requested my money back. all in all i won't ever return to this place. I received a call from Furniture Innovations and they eventually came to look at the cushions. They agreed that they were unevenly filled and needed to be fixed. The manufacturer took them back to be refilled. They were professional and apologetic when dealing with me, so I am adding a star. The cushions came back more filled but they still don't look like the floor samples, as the corners are not 90 degrees and evenly filled, and the shape in general of all the back cushions are not as clean. I appreciate their effort, but I wish I got what I ordered when it was first delivered. read more

Cannot say enough good things about this place. Found this place on accident, and their prices ended up being lower than a store in the central valley, for the same brand and model. Have had a few problems with the dresser, and the owner even offered to give me one of the sliders off a display model until the replacement unit is delivered to my house. My emails have been answered within just a few hours, and when I didn't respond soon enough, they gave me a call to make sure I was being taken care of. Will most definitely be coming back here. After searching various local places for a power recliner and striking out I was about to give up when I came across Furniture Innovation at Westlake Shopping Center. It just turns out that they had recently opened there and still settling in to the new space. They had various Fjord recliners and one that was the perfect size, color, and all the features I needed! The customer service was impeccable. Eun & Semi were very helpful and patient in showing us the features of the recliners as well as answering our questions. There was no sense of pushing or pressuring to buy a product. VERYfriendly. (In fact, enjoyed chatting with Eun's husband over coffee about old San Francisco. It appears they have been in The City and in the furniture business for quite some time before moving out to DC). With regards to price, my son researched the product and it was fair and reasonable. Furthermore, their delivery charge was very fair (especially after comparing with the other places). And the product was delivered on time as promised! We bought a sectional couch (two seat + chaise!) in 33 minutes (timed by our parking meter). We intended to shop around (this was the first store we went to), but we were so impressed by the customer service and quality. We also went to the sister store, which is a bit bigger (both stores have different stuff, so worth it to go to both) the same day and bought a cherrywood dining table w/ leaf + 6 chairs. This was all more expensive than IKEA (and better quality), but less expensive than other SF and Bay Area places (source: my dad worked in a furniture store for 12 years). They were so helpful in combining our purchases into one delivery, and they also assembled all 6 chairs for us pre-delivery. The estimated delivery time was 2 weeks, and it came a few days earlier. We got a call and email that it arrived to their store, and Eun Soon arranged same day delivery to our apt and covered part of the delivery cost for us. The store attendants at both stores were so helpful; I think they may know literally everything about furniture. In addition, they seem to have this great sixth sense - they know when you want to ask them a question and they know when you want to be left alone to browse. I especially love this location because the store attendant helped us build (ie. choose from a book) our own couch, including lengths, cushion firmness, button decorations, chaise to seat ratio, etc. Their showroom has a lot of different stuff, but also varieties of similar pieces so you can test out differences. I wish I had a bigger apartment so I could get more furniture from here. There is so much great woodwork in the showroom. read more

When we visited their store, they were not at all pushy but were readily available to answer all our questions. They offered an excellent price on a full bedroom set plus mattress. The bedroom set has been delivered and assembled in our home, and we can tell the furniture is really great quality. The staff at furniture innovation made all the arrangements on our behalf for the delivery and installation, which was also extremely helpful. After the date of purchase, we had our new bedroom set delivered and installed in less than a week and the staff at Furniture Innovation kept us regularly informed about the status of our order plus the delivery arrangements. We had such an amazing experience with this place when buying our new couch! We actually stopped in a few different times as we were shopping around at different stores around the Bay Area. The employees here were by far the most helpful we encountered and we weren't able to find anything close to the quality of the couch we ultimately ended up buying here for the price. When we finally came back to buy the model we had been eyeing for a while, we were able to buy the floor model, including the pillows, with no sales tax. Impossible to beat that. Plus, the salesperson checked with their delivery guy (they use an outside delivery crew) and they were able to deliver it to our apartment a few hours later for $90. I think the entire transaction ended up taking us less than 30 minutes (not counting our other trips into the store), and that's including chatting with our salesman about San Francisco and how things have changed since he first moved to the city. I wish I remembered to get the names of the two guys that helped us, as they were both wonderful. Definitely will come back to this place if we decide to upgrade any of the other furniture in our apartment. read more

Had an awful experience with the Lee, the owner of this business, as well as most importantly the quality of the furniture. I bought a couch from here and within a week, the corners already started ripping. Felt like the quality was extremely poor so I wanted a refund and after speaking with Lee, he refused to give me a refund and spoke to me in an extremely rude manner. It's one thing to refuse to give someone a refund, its another thing to actually speak to them in that way. I'd advise anyone that's looking for furniture in any capacity (even cheaper knock offs) not to come here. It's not worth it, the service and most importantly the service!
