This rescue pleads and advertises as many dogs on their website and Facebook as possible to be adopted. But yet after you fill out their 6 page 200 question adoption form, you got a robot reply that says you will be contacted in 72 hours. HEADS UP: NOBODY ever contacts you. Why in the world would you have dogs that you want to be adopted into loving homes, then ask people to fill out an adoption form and then NEVER get back to them when you tell them the dog is still AVAILABLE!? That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. They are just as bad as NORSLED. Screw trying to go through the "adoption drama" and just get a dog from a breeder, shelter or Craigslist. At least you'll get a REPLY!! What a waste of time!! I wish I read all the other ONE star reviews before filling out the form for 45 minutes. It doesn't matter that I've had 5 huskies and have over 25 years experience with dogs. Obviously they don't care about getting the dogs into experienced homes. I've heard they take away dogs from people too after they've already been adopted. WTF!? Who are these people and where the F*%k did they come from!? They need to get off their high horses!! I don't care if it's run by volunteers with "families" "full time" jobs. Don't have a dog rescue organization then if you're not even gonna give people the time of day!! Update to review: A month later I get a reply that says the dog has a pending adopter but there's 2 other dogs available at a nearby shelter. I go to the shelter website and the dogs are not there. ‍

Teresa is the rudest most judgemental person I have ever encountered. I was looking for volunteer hours....she took it upon herself to assume it was court ordered. I've never had anyone be upset with me for wanting to volunteer??

We adopted our Ginger last August from Furry Friends. I agree with the reviews that they are very careful with the adoption process. They want to make sure that the entire family is onboard for a new pet and that the new owners understand the responsibility of taking in a rescue. These pets have often been through too much already and they need a stable new environment. My experience was wonderful. We have a new best friend for our older dog and we have all fallen in love with Ginger. If your family needs a new furry friend give them a call.

My husband and I didn't purposely choose Furry Friends, but we are so glad that we got to work with them. We found the perfect puppy on Petfinder, who was rescued and fostered by the amazing Furry Friends Rescue volunteers. As other reviews mentioned, the process was thorough and extensive. We started with a phone interview with a volunteer, followed by a visit with our puppy, and finally an in-home visit. Honestly, I really appreciated the level of work they were willing to put in to make sure we could provide our sweet puppy a good home. They know what they are doing, and took the time to explain the challenges and impact a new puppy brings. They helped us feel confident that we could do this well, and provided us with tons of knowledge and resources. Our sweet puppy had a fantastic start with her foster mom (a professional dog trainer!) and we could not be happier or more grateful.

Kitty has crossed eyes and needed rescuing.

Without getting full understanding nor finding a solution, this lady immediately told me "No, you can't see the animals unless you adopt it." RIDICULOUS. I was panicking and didn't know what to do! Called San Ramon PD, Animal control, some wildlife rescues, 6-7 vets but no one was able to help me. I poured a lot of oil over the bird and was able to get his feet free, but I was too scared to do anything more. My SIL then left a message for Ohlone Humane Society. Kelly called her back right away and informed her that they will close in the next few minutes, but I can bring the bird to her house. Took me 30 min to go from SR to Fremont - kept checking on the bird to make sure he was alive! Kelly was able to remove the bird from the trap in just about a minute. The bird was ready to fly away but Kelly said she will keep him for 2-3 weeks or until he grows his feather back and then release him. I am soo glad Kelly called us back right away; she was his only hope. Thank you Kelly for going out of your way to save the little guy!

When we read that there…read morewould be over 2K pets up for adoption over the course of the 2 day weekend, we knew we had to just come to check out all the cute fur babies. Located in Alameda County Fairgrounds, the premise itself is quite big, and parking is plentiful and free, albeit unpaved and rather bumpy. When parking, be sure to make a note of the lot #, located at the front of each lot, in addition to the section letter. We made the mistake of only looking at the section letter and then later realizing that each lot had the same letters. While it may be a bit of a walk from the lot to the actual event itself depending on where you park, they have courtesy shuttles (aka trucks towing trailers with covered seating) that will take you to the event space and then later back to your car. The actual event outside has a TON of different booths hosting different vendors ranging from pet supplies, pet food, to pet photos. And most of them were giving out free samples so we wound up with a big bag full of dog food/treats by the time we left. As Pet Food Express is hosting the event, they give out a free tote bag for you to hold your freebies in as you roam the premise. And many other vendors thankfully also offer free tote bags as well. There are two main indoor buildings, with one side hosting dogs for adoption, and the other side hosting cats. In addition, we also saw many bunnies and even sold birds up for adoption as well. All the animals we encountered were very well socialized, and even the few which had signs warning people not to stick your hand in their cage/crate did not appear aggressive. At one point, my gf fell in love with this one cutie of a puppy that was such a sweetheart! Fortunately (or unfortunately if you ask my gf), she was already adopted. Else I am pretty convinced that we would have probably left there with a new family member. The event is well organized and well spaced out. There are plenty of workers and volunteers around if you have any questions, and despite it being in the mid 90's outside, even the outdoor tents which housed pets had fans and/or mist sprays which kept things cool and comfortable for all animals involved. And to keep dogs from burning their feet on the hot concrete, we saw workers avidly spraying down the ground to keep things cool. Plus water/bath stations were plentiful as well. Overall a really great event that allowed us to interact and play with a variety of different 4-legged friends. Be warned however for the possibility of leaving with a new addition to the family!

Our sweet girl's health declined very suddenly...she couldn't sleep, was struggling to breathe, and her heart was failing. We were faced with the difficult choice of going to a vet clinic or finding an in-home euthanasia service. We found Heaven from Home and reached out to Dr. Wensing. Although she was initially fully booked, she took the time to speak with us and even recommended other in-home services to try. Unfortunately, none had availability, and we were preparing ourselves for a traditional vet visit...something we knew would cause our already fragile girl a lot of anxiety. Then, Dr. Wensing called back. She had a cancellation and could come that same day. It truly felt like a blessing. She arrived with such compassion and calm presence, and because of her, our girl was able to pass peacefully in the comfort of her own home, surrounded by her family. It meant everything to us to give her that kind of goodbye. We could not have asked for a more caring, professional, and humane experience during one of the most heartbreaking moments of our lives. If you are facing a similar situation, I cannot recommend Dr. Wensing and Heaven from Home enough. We are forever grateful for the kindness and dignity she gave our beloved companion in her final moments.
