I've been craving samosas all week, but I didn't feel like driving 30 minutes to my favorite spot. A good friend I work with recommended Fusion Bistro, and since I trust her judgment, I decided to give it a try. And that's what Fusion Bistro does - decent enough strip mall food. A few small tables and a basketball game on the overhead tv all make for a place that is primed for takeout. In my experience over the last several months, service has run the gamut from very friendly to clearly and outwardly frustrated. Placing a call is a roll of the dice, but the average comes out to be right in the middle. The butter naan is SUPER buttery and the samosas are sadly a miss. The tikka masala is more onion-forward, while the butter chicken sauce is standard as far as flavor goes. The problem here is that the protein portions are very light (are you taking Ozempic and worried about having too many leftovers? Don't stress - you'll finish all 8 bites of chicken, no problem) so the value isn't quite there considering the price point. Our first time checking out Fusion Bistro. It's conveniently located in the small Sprouts parking lot off of Zinfandel. It's a lively lot with lots of foot traffic but finding parking was a breeze. Music is on and very upbeat. I was singing along, as my kids cringed in em We were promptly greeted when we entered. We went with a family size half and half - Chicken Tikka and Pepperoni for my picky eater. As we waited, we saw a steady stream of folks coming in to grab pick up orders. That's always a good sign. We had their lemon chicken wings and tikka masala pizza. The lemon chicken had a funny aftertaste and smells oddly similar to the Lysol cleaner lemon scent. However, my partner liked it. I personally like my lemon pepper dry rub but the chicken had an artificial lemon taste to it .. Their pizza dough is not for me, it's more like pizza toppings on bread rather than on a pizza dough? Service was cool but the soda wasn't carbonated enough, pretty flat. And you have to ask them for refills rather than open refills. I didn't try their other food but maybe it's better than the pizza. My brother decided he wanted to host a family get together in order to sample what this new establishment had to offer, family style. What a great idea! We were all in. Him and his wifey ordered a whole bunch of different things off the menu to-go and we (9 adults, 6 kids) got to experience a wide selection all in one sitting. Honestly, I didn't even get to try some of the items bc there was just so much to choose from. Among the items that did end up on my plate the standouts were: the Indian style chicken wings, vegetable samosas, and butter chicken over rice (always a fave flavor profile for me). All of these were so flavorful, the only items I ended up having seconds of. I was especially surprised by the samosas bc I haven't had any before that I was impressed by. These were so perfectly seasoned and crispy on the outside, plus incredibly soft and smooth on the inside. So, so good. We opted for a single type pizza rather than half and half because the waiter seemed confused by the request. We got the butter chicken pizza. It didn't have a lot of butter chicken flavor, and while there was a lot of chicken, it was overwhelmed by the amount of onions. I love onions, but there were just so many! The Indian breadsticks were good but also heavy on onions. My teenage daughter - who doesn't like onions - couldn't eat any of it because there were just too many to try and remove. This restaurant opened up right next to Sprouts and we were excited to try it. We ordered their goat biryani, butter naan, and butter chicken to go. We are no strangers to Indian food and were excited to give this place a try. Although we didn't eat inside, the interior did have a small seating area with a number of tables. When we went to pick up the food, the owners were kind and greeted us. I believe their son rang us up and he was friendly and welcoming. The butter chicken was so delicious. It was flavorful and the chicken was very succulent. The butter naan left a little to be desired. For being called butter naan, it wasn't buttery at all and was actually pretty dry. But despite that, it was still good. Just not the best. The goat biryani was not our favorite. There was too much going on with the spices; it was overly spiced to the point where you couldn't taste the rice--only the spices. There was also barely any meat, which was disappointing. On another occasion, we went back and ordered their cheese pizza and mango lassi. Both were very good. For being just a cheese pizza, the pizza was very moist and flavorful. I've been here about times. I've ordered pizzas, tandoori and lemon pepper wings, buttered chicken and another traditional Indian dish but can't recall. We didn't love the traditional dishes. Barely any meat but a large and overwhelming amount of sauce drowning the dish. The wings in bone were tasty and I would get again. The pizza ... although it has flavor, they really don't provide a lot of toppings. The pizza cost as much as other pizzas you would get at a traditional pizza parlor but huge difference in size and amount of toppings. Even if you add more toppings, it's so minimal and not sure if it's worth the extra couple of dollars. I'm rating this a 4 star but part of me feels it's more of a 3.5. Service has always been professional. Inside is small but there is usually seating if you elect to eat there. It would be awesome if they used gluten free though for the sensitive tum tums! I'm definitely heading back to try more ok the menu. I love that there are lots of vegan options as well.
