After reading great things about this restaurant on Nextdoor, I decided to give it a try finally. I have to say, it did not disappoint. When we walked in, there were only a few people there but the ambience was really nice. We started with tomato bisque soup, gorgonzola salad, oil and vinegar with the focaccia bread. These were all very tasty. For entrees we had the Lasagna Nonna and Seafood risotto which were also excellent. For dessert, we finished up with fudge ccake and pistachio tiramisu. We were surprised after what we heard and tasted that there weren't more patrons, but it was a Monday night. We came here to Yelp to leave a review and were surprised to see some of the one star reviews. It is a la carte and a little pricey but you get what you pay for, and it's a lot better than Olive Garden for just a little more money. read more

Finally had the opportunity to try this restaurant (shoutout to my cousin who suggested it). It's been on my list for a while but I'm not one to crave pasta much yet I'm glad I gave this resto a try. First impressions - massive space, high ceilings, nice bar area, wine bottle decor everywhere, simple yet impactful decor. Came on a slow-ish Tuesday night. They had about 4 other tables. Service was amazing. Didn't catch the gentleman's name but he was very attentive and was solid on his recommendations. I got myself a drink - crisp and clean IPA. For the table we ordered the calamari - portion was great but it lacked the crisp and crunch. We were surprised it came out quick. It seemed like the food was microwaved as the bite was soggy. The plus for this appetizer was the meat of the squid was great. The tentacles were a hit. The dipping sauces also tasted homemade. Maybe it was a miss this night but I'd order it again to see if their cooking style changes. The start of the show was my pasta. Penne Salsiccia (red sauce) with Italian sausage. Not shy on the sausage. And the sauce was simply perfection with a hint of spiciness. You can definitely taste the freshness of the sauce - that true homemade taste. I also added Parmesan to make it complete. A large portion that I split it in two and had leftovers. I'd order this again. Plus: free bread with dipping oil and balsamic. Food was good but not a fan of their bread. I would definitely change that. The owners are good human beings and we had a fun time chatting about visiting Italy in the near future. I was so happy to try this place after seeing a coming soon sign for over a year. My friends and I were craving pasta so we wanted to try it out. We made reservations for 7 and were seated immediately at our reservation time of 6. We ordered the garlic cheese bread for an appetizer it was soft and flavorful and the marinara sauce was delicious too. We also got their house focaccia as a free appetizer and there was oil and balsamic to dip it in, which we also enjoyed. For my entree I got the spaghetti pomodora the pasta was cooked well and I liked the fresh tomatoes and garlic on the pasta. A nice new local Italian place in Rancho Cordova, the inside was very bright and clean, and the hostess extremely nice. We ordered to go and our ready was easy to place and assembled quickly. Both the spaghetti and chicken parm were good, wouldn't expect anything less from an Italian place. The next time we are craving easy and quick Italian food we will order from here again! However, we weren't the biggest fan of the bread for once, it was weirdly dense, maybe it was a one of but personally we weren't not big fans of it. read more

Came here on a whim for early dinner on a Sunday and received excellent service! They just opened up less than a month ago so I'm glad we found them on Yelp. There was a photo on Yelp of a pizza with burrata and honestly that's what convinced us to come in! We don't typically go out for Italian food. But we were excited when we saw risotto on the menu! We tried the risotto di mare which had great texture and was cooked nicely, although could've used more seasoning/salt. We also ordered a pizza for ourselves with onion, ham, peppers, and burrata, which was absolutely delicious! I liked that we could pick our own toppings but $2.99 per topping seemed a little extreme so we opted to exclude some other toppings that we would've otherwise wanted. The cook on the pizza was great for our preference but I could understand if some people would want it to be more golden. It was nice that they had a specific kids menu and kids cups also. The kids menu pizza was huge and was enough for both of our kids, and leftovers for both too! They do bring out complimentary bread but it wasn't super fresh, or maybe the texture was just more dense. The dessert presentation is very enticing, they bring out a tray of all of the current dessert specials so it takes willpower to decline! But the thing that really bugged me was they just kept bowls of Parmesan sitting out around the restaurant and they grab from there when you need cheese sprinkled. I had been waiting for this place to open for quite a while. I still remember when it was an excellent Chinese buffet, but the building had sat empty for a long time. I'm glad a business is back in it. I came in just a few days after they opened. I was seated, and I was served by Lisa. Very friendly, very helpful, very knowledgeable. I asked her a couple of questions about the menu, and she had an answer right away. The meal started with a basket of bread, and Lisa put together a plate of olive oil and balsamic, with grated Parmesan on top. The bread was warm and fluffy, and the olive oil/balsamic was perfect for dipping. I started out with the salmon carpaccio. There was a very decent amount of salmon, and it was under a bed of spring mix. The salmon was tender and very, very flavorful, and the spring mix Provided a nice pop of freshness to go with it. There was also lemon to sprinkle on everything. I liked the Dish a lot. For my main course, I had the tortellini panna e prosciutto. Tortellini in a cream sauce, with a nice Portion of prosciutto. The dish was very good. The tortellini were tender, and the cream sauce was fantastic. It did eat just a little bit salty for my taste. I don't know if the saltiness was in the sauce, or if it was from the prosciutto, but I did notice it just a little bit. It was still an excellent dish. While I was having lunch, Sergio, who I believe was the chef, came by to ask me how my meal was. I said it was very good, I was wearing an Italian shirt, and so he asked me if I was from Italy. I said yes, my mother was. And we chatted about that for a few moments. Just absolutely everybody in the staff was so friendly. I had enough of the carpaccio and the tortellini, to take Home for a decent second meal. For the quantity and quality of the food, the price was fair. There weren't that many people in the restaurant, and I'm hoping that that's just because it just opened. We recently visited Crazee For Pasta, and overall we had a really enjoyable experience. The food was good, but I think it has the potential to be even better. With an Italian grandma visiting all the way from Florence, Italy, I would love to see even more authentic Italian flavors and traditional family recipes reflected in the dishes. That extra touch of authenticity would really make this place stand out. The highlight of our visit was the hospitality. Stephan, the manager, was absolutely wonderful. He made sure we were well taken care of throughout our meal and truly made us feel welcome. Meeting him and Grandpa from Italy made the experience feel like we were having dinner at a family member's home instead of a restaurant. The warm conversations and genuine hospitality created such a comforting, home-like atmosphere. The restaurant was very clean and the hostess greeted us as soon as we entered. We went on a Friday around 5:30pm and we were seated immediately without any delay. We had a wonderful experience at Crazee for Pasta! We ordered the chicken fettuccine, lasagna, and chicken parmigiana, and every dish was fresh, flavorful, and generously portioned. What a pleasant surprise this place turned out to be. Crazee for Pasta has a spacious, welcoming layout with great pops of color throughout the decor and lighting that sets just the right mood. The seating is comfortable, and the atmosphere feels equally suited to a quick lunch or a longer gathering with friends and family. Service was terrific -- Steven, the manager, went out of his way to make sure everything was excellent. The full bar looked inviting and would be a great spot to linger for happy hour or a celebratory dinner. The restaurant is spacious and I can see having a work party here. The menu was pretty extensive. We did not try the desserts, although they looked amazing. I tried the chicken parmigiana which came with a lot of spaghetti. The taste was good, but the meat was a little too firm for my liking. We also had the calamari appetizer and minestrone soup. TL;DR This place is legit. Try it! We tried Crazee for Pasta today and loved it. What I don't get is the branding. It's a good quality bistro. "Crazee for Pasta" doesn't suggest a bistro to me. I get more of a family/ kids, budget experience vibe from that name. They also do pizza and Italian entrees, so it's not just pasta. A bit confusing but not a deal breaker. Other than the name not matching the experience, we had a delightful meal. Their menu is similar to Caffe Italiano in Fair Oaks with the same owner. We love Caffe Italiano, so we had high hopes for CFP. My husband is half Italian on his mom's side, and he makes amazing Italian food including scratch-made ravioli, so when we go out for Italian, he doesn't suffer fools lightly (looking at you Olive Garden). I had the cheese ravioli pomodoro and minestrone soup. My husband had the gnocchi bolognese and Caesar salad. Focaccia, olive oil, balsamic and a carafe of cold water were provided, as well. I rate my meal 5/5. The minestrone was to die for. It's quite clearly homemade from scratch, no corners were cut. The base is not tomato; it's a lovely, flavorful (not canned) chicken broth. It was absolutely delicious. I could see ordering this to go with a caprese salad and focaccia for a light takeout option. It's made with kidney beans, garbanzos, potato, celery, carrot, zucchini and lots of fresh herbs. The pasta is orecchiettis, shaped like open shells or tiny ears. Topped with fresh grated parm and black pepper... it earned a chef's kiss. My standard for raviolis is that the pasta needs to be tender and pillowy. My husband's ravioli has spoiled me. I rarely order restaurant raviolis because most of the time it falls short. CFP's raviolis were amazing. Light and pillowy. Not tough, soggy, or too thick. Not over- or under-stuffed. The sauce was also very good and simple, it reminded me of Marcella Hazan's (the Italian Julia Child) classic tomato sauce, but CFP's sauce developed the tomato profile with paper- thin slices of garlic, a bit of carrot, basil leaves and other herbs. Best of all, adding freshly grated Parmesan didn't render it too salty. I took a picture of the minestrone and the raviolis. My husband loved the gnocchi. It was not too dense or doughy. The bolognese was meaty, balanced and flavorful. It's pictured in one of the ravioli pics in the upper right. Caesar salad was also delicious. He gave his meal 5/5, also. And we both devoured the focaccia! It was freshly baked and tasted like it. We were too full for dessert. And our server Lisa was very friendly. If you haven't tried Crazee for Pasta yet, go! Personally, the sauce on the pizza and pasta (red sauce) leaves a lot to be desired. It was very salty and not much other flavor happening, no real balance of flavor. We did appreciate the very large meatballs you get on your pasta which had good flavor. But yes that sauce was very salty no balance to it. The pizza in the photos looked pretty good but what we received was a bit sad looking and kinda soggy. .....Also only a sprinkle of toppings was on it which was kinda crazy to me. The crust itself wasn't bad, it could've used longer in the oven, and with the right sauce and decent amount of toppings it would be a banger! Food: this was "meh" for us. We had carbonara and spaghetti and both lacked flavor. The pasta seemed fresh but the food just didn't have much flavor to it. Portions were good though. I met my friend here because we were so excited that it finally opened. The place was pretty empty, but it was a Wednesday at noon, so we just thought it was a slow lunch day. Our waiter was quite young and didn't offer a basket of bread like I saw on other tables near us. I asked if there was a difference between the lunch menu and the dinner menu, especially portion sizes, and he said there was no difference. Since we did not receive any bread like the other diners near us, I ordered the cheese garlic bread, which was quite tasty, but I would have liked to have received the basket of bread that all the other tables had received. I ordered the spaghetti (almost $20.00) and asked for extra sauce because I like my pasta saucy and assumed that a small salad would accompany it like most Italian restaurants, but I was wrong. My friend ordered the chicken piccata entree. No salad was brought out to either of us, and once my spaghetti arrived, there was barely any sauce, and it looked watered down and was not thick like a traditional sauce. The pasta mostly consisted of dry noodles with two small dry meatballs and watery, no-flavor sauce. I thought to myself, at least Olive Garden offers a large salad with breadsticks, and the spaghetti has more flavor for a much less expensive price. It took forever to get our check, and I think I ended up eating less than a quarter of the spaghetti, which was lacking in flavor and quality sauce. I usually lag when posting about my food experiences but as soon as we left the restaurant, I knew I had to write about it. I've always driven by this place whenever we are in the Citrus Heights/Rancho Cordova area, and being a fan of Italian food, I knew we had to give it a try. I want to first talk about how good of a service this place has. Their waiters were always available and never missed a "do you guys need anything else?" And as soon as we sat down, a waiter came by and talked with us about the menu and her favorites. It was much appreciated. My wife ended up ordering the Ravioli de zucca that the waiter had recommended. 10/10! They had plenty of space for seating, we also loved the structure of the place. It was a great experience here. The food was amazing. I can't stress that enough. We will definitely be back and I hope they gain more business. This place needs to get hyped up. My pollo Marsala was so good! read more

This was our initial visit to Crazee For Pasta. I found some positives and some negatives. First, the pleasantries... We both ordered a Riesling that was listed on the menu 'anonymously'. There was no vintner listed. It was quite excellent! I just wish I knew what it was I was drinking...! I would like to buy a bottle of it. At $12 per glass for a Riesling, it was a bit high. But the quality allowed us to overlook the price. Next, we ordered the Calamari Fritti. This was a true delight. We always order Calamari when dining out, if it is on the menu, and judge it against the Calamari at Sienna, in Roseville. This Calamari was quite excellent, and the equal to Sienna's. Highly recommended. I ordered the Penne Pasta in a creamy Pesto sauce, with chicken and prawns. The chicken was a bit disappointing, cubed and tasting like packaged pre-cooked chicken strips one finds at Trader Joes. The 'prawns' were the smallest prawns I have seen, more likely shrimp than prawns. The Pesto sauce was very good... but it drowned the Penne pasta it was served on. Much too heavy on the sauce. I would recommend asking for light sauce, unless you prefer it swimming in sauce. My wife ordered the Pasta Al Pomodoro, which was Spaghetti in a red tomato sauce with Basil and garlic. Again, a bit heavy on the sauce. Both pastas were cooked perfectly, just too much sauce on both entrees. The staff were friendly and professional; we were offered bread quickly and it was very good. My only complaint is that not being Italian, I am not much into dipping bread into olive oil and Balsamic vinegar. It would be nice if all Italian restaurants would offer butter with their bread. Not a deal breaker, though. Our waiter was prompt, and came back a few minutes after the entree was served to check our satisfaction, and was timely throughout the dining experience. I just wish I could compliment him by name, as he did not introduce himself when we were seated. As to the ambience... Crazee For Pasta does not present the aura of haute cuisine by its furnishings. Bare floors and tables/chairs that remind one of cafeteria style ambience. The website photos, as they always do, paint a little more 'uptown' picture. But we must remember that it is really about the food. Upon leaving, a young lady with long, blue accented hair, provided a very nice final staff interaction. She stated she hoped we enjoyed our dining experience and would consider returning again. She wished us a wonderful rest of our evening and encouraged us to drive safely. It was obviously not the often canned speech one gets upon leaving most businesses. It was real. Kudos to her! So, would we return? That's the question. I would say definitely, we would come back. With an hour before closing we arrived hungry and hopeful. The host guided us to our table and placed the menus with care. It was a very positive opening to an experience that was lack luster (food-wise). The four dishes ordered were chicken with pasta, salmon with pasta, shrimp with red sauce, and ravioli with red sauce & meatballs. The wait staff were on point and delivered amazing service, but the food from two of the four dishes were largely unappetizing. The chicken and salmon dishes seemed to be boiled and lacked any sort of seasoning and flavor. Both dishes were only bitten into twice, once to try and once to share why there were no more bites. The shrimp dish wasn't bad, while the ravioli with the added meatballs hit it out of the park! In an otherwise very quiet ambience, where we were one of the last customers, it was a sad state of affairs for 2 out of our 4. We wound up stopping by In N out on the way back home. If you are into raviolis and meatballs this is an amazing spot for you! If you're into salmon and/or chicken with white sauces, I'd seek refuge elsewhere. With all respect, it could have been an off night, but I'm not sure what happened. With mixed feelings, I give this place three stars. I appreciate the upbeat wait staff and enjoyed delicious bread at the center of the table. Thank you for a lovely ambiance, and hopefully we can meet again with some more positive reviews. read more

Glad to see a business occupying that space. It's so fresh and new inside. We went during Happy Hour and they had calamari on the menu. It was very good. The breading was amazing and it was not rubbery. I would serve it with marinara instead of cocktail sauce. I had the chicken picata and on a hot summer day, the light lemon caper sauce was perfect. The complimentary dinner bread was weird. I was assured that they were planning to change it. The service was good. We will go back. read more

Not bad, but not good. What we liked: The fresh bread and the pesto sauce on the rigatoni with shrimp and chicken. What we didn't like: The Bolognese had a very strong and distinct metallic flavor, like it had been sitting in a tin can for way too long. Unfortunately, wanted to try a new restaurant. The Bolognese sauce tasted like dirty water. The salmon piccata was practically $.99 Ramen noodles with spoiled salmon on top. I was very hopeful based off the reviews, but unfortunately, I would never recommend this place. My son and I have been waiting for Crazee for Pasta to open and ended up going the first night. My son (11) loves pizza and said it ranks #1 or #2 on his favorite pizza place list. He already asked if we could go back. For me, I asked our the waitress to pick the entrée that would make the best first impression and make me want to come back. She picked the lasagna and it was really really good! I got the mini canoli's and tiramisu for dessert to go. I'm Italian and a tough critic with canoli's, personally I found them average. I've typically disappointed when I get tiramisu, but theirs is probably the best I've ever had and will for sure order every time! First of all, they just opened one day ago, so there are still some kinks to work out, but a great start. It is a large space with two sorta separate dining areas, plus a bar area. Open, clean, and nicely decorated. The only negative note was that it was way cold. The staff was more than helpful, They were fully staffed for a full house with a troop of trainees assisting. As there were few customers when we were there, we got terrific service as the staff was plentiful (and moving around helped them keep warm? :-) ) Stephen, the manager, came by to check on us and gave some of the back story on the long delay in opening. The food was varying in our opinion. The Focaccia was excellent - warm and with a hint of butter. The complimentary olive oil and balsamic made it even better. We shared a Caesar salad that was crispy, tasty and huge. The addition of anchovies only made it better. The spouse had the Chicken Piccata which while good, it seemed to be lacking something. She wanted more lemon, being a lemon freak, and I thought the amount was OK - not being a big fan of lemon. The chicken was very slightly overcooked but still edible. The PIccata needed something more to make it perfect though we never figured out what that was exactly. I had the Spaghetti Vongole that had a ton of clams. Much more than I expected. The broth was OK, but could have used a tad more garlic and clam flavor. I missed seeing chili flakes in the broth but the Basil strips added an unexpected flavor element that I enjoyed. The dessert tray was tempting and had what you would hope for and expect - Canolli, Tiramisu (in three flavors), Cheesecake, and Chocolate Mousse Cake. While they all looked appealing, we passed and will wait for another visit. read more
