We stopped by on a Friday evening an hour before closing! We were bummed that they ran out of ribs but their Tritip and chicken were great alternatives. They were very tender. The smoked Gouda Mac and cheese was a bit too watery for my liking. Overall, great food and great experience.

First time here and they just debuted their new menu today (5/28). We tried the rib and brisket platter, and the tri tip sandwich. The portioning is a really good size, and the meat is so Smokey and tender. The ribs fell off the bone, they were my favorite of what we tried. The Mac and cheese was extra gooey and yummy, also had a great smokey flavor. For their tri tip sandwich, they actually cut the tri tip up into little pieces, it was so much easier to eat than the normal slabs of tri tip you get at bbq spots. The baked beans were the best baked beans I've ever had, they had shredded pork pieces in it, just so tasty. They are definitely comparably to urban roots, which is our normal go-to for bbq. The service was great, everyone was very friendly. The only thing I'd change here is the add cornbread to the menu! We sadly did not get to try their peach cobbler and ice cream but when I return I definitely will!

Came in craving some good BBQ and found this spot on Yelp--glad we did! They were sold out of almost everything when we got there--only had brisket and pulled pork left (which basically told me we showed up late to a party everyone else already crushed ). Honestly though, that's a good sign the food is legit. Even with just those options, they absolutely delivered. The brisket and pulled pork were both on point--super flavorful, tender, and didn't last long on the plate. Also have to give a shoutout to the coleslaw--it was AMAZING. Fresh, crisp, and the perfect balance to go with the meat. Lesson learned: show up earlier... or be prepared to fight for the last bites next time Definitely coming back!

If you're craving solid barbecue in a welcoming setting, this local spot absolutely delivers. The ambiance strikes a perfect balance between cozy and polished, with warm lighting, sturdy wooden tables, and comfortable seating that makes you want to linger. It feels thoughtfully put together without losing that relaxed, down-home BBQ charm. The food is the real star. The shredded pork sandwich was tender, juicy, and packed with smoky flavor, while the tri-tip sandwich was equally impressive -- perfectly cooked, flavorful, and piled generously on fresh bread. If you're trying to decide what to order, go straight for one of the platters that offer multiple meats. It's the best way to sample the range, and you won't regret having a little bit of everything. The staff were genuinely kind and attentive, adding to the overall positive experience. The only disappointment? They ran out of ribs -- which honestly feels like a backhanded compliment, since it probably means they're that good. Still, I'll definitely be back (earlier next time) to snag a rack before they sell out.

Wanted BBQ and my go to place was closed. Stopped in here because I had tried it before and it was good. There was a line nearly back to the door but I decided to get in line and wait. It took about 20 minutes to get to the order taker. He was upbeat and pleasant. I ordered the Brisket Platter to go and requested the fattiest pieces of brisket with sides of baked beans and potato salad. He said I was his favorite customer for asking for the fattiest part of the brisket because that is where the flavor is! Customers seemed to enjoy their food and the overall ambience. The dining area provides a variety of seating options from four tops to cozy nooks or couches as well as outdoor seating. The only downfall for me was that there is only one person taking orders for food and all beverages- including beer on tap. No one was impatient or rude. But I will note that I started in line at 7:18 pm and my meal was handed to me at 8:18 pm. I think that is too long. As for the quality and taste: the brisket was cut in a way to get to the fastest pieces and was smoky and tender. The potato salad was creamy and delicious. The "homemade" baked beans were just that - with pieces of smoked meat throughout the beans. So if you're not in a hurry and would like to try some tasty BBQ, this place may be just what you're looking for.

The Instagram algorithm knew what I wanted! This came across the feed (no pun intended) and the pics got my attention immediately. Made a reservation as recommended. Flash forward a couple weeks and my fiancee and I made the trip to Sunrise blvd and Trade Center drive. Parking is easy. Walking in and the place smelled great and they were playing some jams. Rick James was blasting on their speakers. Good vibes so far. Let the guy at the counter know I was there with a reservation and he told me to pick any table I'd like and to look over the menu and come back when I was ready to order. A BBQ prides itself on its ribs and brisket, pulled pork too but the pervious two are my favorites. So that's what I went with. Their Mac and cheese looked delicious and had Gouda as a main ingredient so we had to go with that. The mac and cheese was super creamy. Noodles were very tender to the bite. It was a 4/5 for me. The brisket came shredded. I found it to be delicious. Fatty but still full of plenty of muscle. Smokey but not too much so. The seasoning on their meats here lean towards the peppery side. I enjoyed it. Their ribs were very tender as well. Not so much falling off the bone but super soft and melt in the mouth type. The shredded chicken sandwich was superb. Had coleslaw and pickles and piled high with meat. The chicken was juicy and almost had a fried chicken flavor. Overall I enjoyed my experience here. The guy at the counter was super friendly and welcoming. Food was delicious. My fiancee even enjoyed her shredded sandwich and sides. These guys are servicing up some serious BBQ. They're smoking the hell out of their meats and getting a great cook on each meat I tried.

Party of 3 came by for dinner ~6:30pm on a Friday and place was pretty packed. We ordered the pork, brisket, chicken platter along with the tri tip and chicken platter. Both platters came with smoked Gouda mac and potato salad. We really liked the chicken! Juicy and went great with the bbq sauces. Tri tip and brisket were ok, a little on the salty side but it went well with our sides. The potato salad had a nice balance of creamy and varying sizes of potato. We also ordered the rotating hard cider (cherry) which was fruity and crisp and the fieldworks lager. Place is great for any size group. Person who took our order was very enthusiastic, making it exciting to be there. He was generous as well since he comped my cider when he saw my bday on my id. Would definitely come back to try other sides and meats!

When I walked in the smoke greated us at the door... inside was moden and comfortable, felt like something downtown. Wifee and I had the Tri Tip and BBQ Chicken plate, and the kiddo had the Tri Tip burger, he loved it, everything was outstanding, TriTip was juicy and melted in your mouth with a light spice and smoky flavor. Mac and. Cheese, potato salad were delicious. Perfect portions, came Hangry and left full. I got one of the house beers and that was also delicious. My family wanted to go eat and I wanted to try something new, glad I stopped in, I will be returning soon.

The service is detailed for takeout and it has the feel of a good BBQ. The smoke is very well balanced. You get both the flavor of the meat and the smoke. We ordered pork, chicken, and brisket. All had the same balance. Very good job on that. The peach cobbler was a bit sweet for my taste, but the rest of the group loved it. The only weak item I found was the sauce they sent home. It was a basic sweet BBQ sauce. It almost tasted as if it came from a jar. I have been told that they have 2 other sauces. I wish they had put those in the bag.

Don't get me wrong I like my chain restaurants and franchises, but local restaurants play an important role in helping maintain a balanced ecosystem of offerings for a community and the Hangry Herd is a welcome addition to said ecosystem. Rancho doesn't have a lot of variety in the barbecue space so I was glad to see a place offering up delicious brisket and tri-tip. It's a nice brewery-ish vibe and ordering and getting our food was a breeze. I'm not sure why but most barbecue joints have a complicated system for ordering but I had no issues here which was a welcome change. All this would be irrelevant to be honest if the food wasn't a hit and I'm happy to report that everything was delicious. The mac and cheese stood out to me because of the smoky flavor. The tri had great texture and the brisket had great fat and flavor. Also the pina colada sour on tap was one of the most unique sours I've had. It tasted like a sour almond joy. Everything was delicious and I'll be back for more.

The Hangry Herd brings the smoke and the vibe, and it mostly delivers. The meats were good. Brisket had a nice bark with that solid smoky flavor, and the pulled pork came through tender and satisfying. It all eats easy and hits the BBQ craving. Sauces give you range, original for classic, hickory for that deeper smoke, and sweet & bold when you want a little extra kick. Play around, it works. Sides round things out. Beans and slaw do their job, and while the potato salad wasn't my favorite, it still fits the plate without dragging it down. The space hits, industrial, laid-back, easy to hang and enjoy the meal. 4 ROARS from Focusaurus Rex

Drove by and this spot totally caught my eye with all the bright lights and the big "Grand Opening" sign, so I had to check it out. I'm a big fan of smoked BBQ and was excited to see another place pop up around here. I placed a pickup order through DoorDash around 4:56 PM, and it said it would be ready in about 50 minutes or so. No biggie since I had a few errands to run anyway. When I pulled in, the parking lot was pretty cramped and tight to get around. The app said my order would be ready at 5:52, which worked out perfect, but when I went in, they told me it'd be another 10 minutes... so back to the car I went. I kept checking the app and noticed the pickup time kept getting pushed back every few minutes, which got kinda annoying. Finally around 6:10pm, I went in again and thankfully it was ready. The place itself looks great though. It's super bright, big open space, nice setup, and they've got outdoor seating too. I ordered the Hangry Family Sampler which comes with tri-tip, brisket, pulled pork, and chicken, plus three sides. Honestly, the meat was just okay. The tri-tip and brisket weren't as juicy or tender as I expected. The chicken was chopped up into small little pieces and had BBQ sauce drizzled on it, and the pulled pork was a bit dry. For sides I got Caesar salad, potato salad, and mac & cheese. The salad was your basic salad, the potato salad wasn't bad, but the mac & cheese was definitely the star. It was super creamy with a little chili kick that made it really good. I can see why people like this place; it's got a cool vibe and plenty of space to hang out with friends. But for me, the food didn't really wow me, so it's probably not somewhere I'd crave or rush back to.

October 3, 2025 - Rancho Cordova, CA This is my first time here since the owners transitioned from Drink EEZY wines to the Hangry Herd barbecue. We ordered the tri-tip and chicken combo with chipotle coleslaw and smoked gouda mac and cheese ($24). Both meats were tender and flavorful -- nicely cooked and seasoned just right. The chipotle coleslaw had a good balance of spice and crunch, and paired well with the meats. The smoked gouda mac and cheese was rich and creamy, though it had a bit more barbecue flavor than I would have preferred -- it slightly overpowered the cheese. Service was friendly and welcoming, and the overall atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable. We will be back to try some of the other barbecue menu items. I think this will be a place to get delicious take-out to share with friends when we are not in the mood to cook.

Best BBQ I've had here in Sacramento hands down. The taste and food reminds me of Texas or Oklahoma.

Upon entering, we were greeted by a friendly bartender by the name of Ronny. Our first round consisted of two dirty martinis (my new drink of choice), which Ronny put his fist (that's a good thing) into making. One of the things that I love about dive bars is the various demographics that usually frequent them (along with their interesting conversations). For our second round we ordered a "Manmosa (yes I know that sounds ridiculously machismo in 2024)" that Ronny insisted on putting a fruity spin on. Not only were we thankful for his suggestion, but his version was GOOD! In real dive bar-like fashion, Ronny provided us both with an extra cup to house the remainder of the Manmosa that could not fit into our glasses (another dive bar perk). As we sat at the bar, my wife and chatted while lightly watching the movie Step Brothers on one of the televisions. Although it was a fairly slow Saturday afternoon, I can imagine that this place gets pretty lively in the latter part of the night though. We observed lots of seating, games, and an area for karaoke (toasted karaoke is the best!). I highly recommend The Blind Pig if you're looking to have deliciously strong drinks at a price that won't have you waking up the next morning rethinking the decisions that you made the previous night!
