I came to the office to treat a lower back nerve compression that caused numbness in my left leg and heel. This numbness caused me to limp and I have been battling it for almost a year. First I'd like to start this review off with a huge thank you to Dr. Shapiro & the ladies who work there. Thank you! Now before visiting Dr. Shapiro's office I was in severe pain for about a week & a half. I was crawling around my apartment & spending a vast majority of my day lying on the floor, due to what an e.r. Dr told me was sciatica. I found Health Source here on yelp & decided to give them a call. I was told I could go in right away or the next day, I opted for the next day since I had to prepare myself lol. Upon my arrival I was asked to fill out a few papers & was seen about 5-10mins after. Dr. Shapiro made the evaluation easy & comfortable, he was very knowledgeable as well. Diagnosis, a slightly slipped disc (although I would've told you I broke my back because of the horrible pain I was in). After my first visit/adjustment I noticed a slight improvement. My appointments were set for twice a week, later moved to once a week. Within the first few visits I noticed a huge change, I felt like I was getting back to the old me (maybe a little improved) Dr. Shapiro's office was able to work with me on a payment plan as well, which was great! I really like coming here. Both my 10-year-old son (very active in sports) and I come once a month (more often if we are out of alignmentt). They offer massage therapy as part of the treatment plan which is great. Dr. Shapiro is very knowledgeable and I really like that he specializes in nutrition. I have found out a lot about myself and general wellness since coming here. The staff is friendly, the infrared sauna is awesome, and they are always running different specials. They also offer a "membership" type deal so you can get a discount on your services! They also take insurance, and we even get a discount as Kaiser Permanente members. read more

I went to Shapiro Chiropractic for arthritis in my back. He would twist me into a pretzel then jump onto me. It somehow caused arthritis in my right hip, which was unknown to me and causing no problems, to flare up. Even after 15 visits to physical therapy, it still makes it impossible to walk at times. He also sold me some hemp oil that he said was CBD oil. It was crazy expensive and had no CBDs at all. It only came in one flavor. He said it probably didn't matter to me what it tasted like. It looked like I would eat anything. Talk about out of line. After he damaged my hip, he was supposed to get more visits in order to fix the problem. I never heard from him again until I got a call from the office several months later saying he wanted them to follow up on whether or not I needed any further assistance with nutrition. I was pissed. Again they were maligning me. Now that my hip works only part time, weight loss is even less likely than it was. I still have issues with my back, which is why I went, as well as my hip. When I walked in I was promptly greeted by his friendly staff. No waiting which is strange for a Dr. visit. Any way, the Dr. Took his time with me and answered all my questions. I am self employed and with out health insurance, recently my wife and partner sprained her ankle severely while walking through our home in the middle of the night. Having had previous experience with Dr. Shapiro myself, I suggested to my wife that he might be able to advise her on how to best deal with this injury. I am very pleased to say that the good Dr. went over and above to take care of my wife. Through a course of treatments that lasted about three weeks she is now fully healed and back at 100%. The thing we love about Dr. Shapiro is his ability to make things simply understood, he is no short of absolute magic in the way he explains both the problem and solution. From our experience he treats his patients with empathy and compassion. There is no doubt that he loves what he does and the people he helps. He understood our financial situation and assured us that all would be fine. I have never liked going to the doctor for any reason, but I would honestly say for the first time in my life I have found the Ideal of what I have always imagined a good doctor to be. I had very high hopes for my massage but ended up being very dissapointed. The massage itself was great, the ambiance not so much. The lady giving me my massage had her cellphone on her and it went off 3 seperate times during my massage. This quickly took away from the relaxation as everytime it went off she had to stop what she was doing, wipe the oil off her hands and turn it off. She apoligized saying she was trying to set a timer for the massage. In my opinion employees should not have to rely on a cell phone timer for the time or even have the cell phone in the room while they are giving a massage. It was very unfortunate as the massage itself was good but i could not get relaxed with a phone going off. read more

I had a massage (bought through Groupon) with Stephanie today. I have had many massages over the years as I have a shoulder injury and chronic bilateral shoulder and neck pain. I am always ready to critique, but Stephanie really did a great job! She seemed to be very knowledgeable about what she was doing and she applied awesome pressure! My first visit to Dr. Shapiro's office, in January of this year, was only intended to obtain a medical certification to operate and drive in a Vanpool. During my visit, I became interested in some of the services, specifically for a body alignment and massage. A previous injury to my shoulder was causing me to have limited range of motion with lots of pain. So, I made an appointment and tried the massage with Marilyn on my day off. I was very satisfied with the massage because it relieved the pain in my neck, shoulders, and back. Then, I had my first appointment with Dr. Shapiro. I didn't realize how misaligned my bones were until after being adjusted and walking out of the office feeling pretty good. And, since he has been also working on my shoulder, during my visits, I have found that my range of motion is much better and with less pain. I purchased a set of 2 Body wraps (Groupon) and was VERY disappointed in the service I received. On my 1st appointment I started in 1 room and then after undressing was asked to move to another room because a massage therapist needed the room I was in. The wrap itself was fine, although the room was cold and I was freezing and uncomfortable through the process because of being cold. The other room had a portable heater, but not the room I was moved to. The day of my 2nd appointment I was called and told I had to reschedule because they had double booked the room. I rescheduled and went to 2nd wrap appointment. Again, room cold, therapist unable to put a comfortable pillow under my head while I had to lay for 30 minutes. She tried a roll which was too high... then just left me with a flat pillow. The ambience and comfort were certainly NOT there. I would NOT want to get a massage from this place because rooms are not relaxing or comfortable. Poor Groupon. read more
