Since I haven't seen it here yet, the "partner" that breeds their dogs whose name they are oh so careful not to mention on their website is Clem Disterhaupt of Nebraska. Give the name a Google and you'll see why they don't name him. He managed to get his USDA breeding license SUSPENDED in 2008, which REALLY takes some effort as the USDA is not exactly tough on puppy mill enforcement: https://oalj.oha.usda.gov/sites/default/files/AWA-06-0023_080225.pdf (refusal to admit the inspectors, btw, means he probably declined to let them in at some point knowing how bad things were...all those violations are from when he WILLINGLY allowed inspectors in. Can you imagine how ugly it must've been if the violations in the report are what he allowed them to see??) If you don't want to read the PDF, imagine those heartbreaking Sarah McLaughlan ASPCA ads (in the aaaarms of the aaaangels) and that about sums it up. Fuzzypups is nothing but a broker for a (particularly gruesome) puppy mill. I'm sure they'll claim he cleaned up his act or something, but think about it a minute- does someone who lets things get that bad actually "care about dogs" enough to turn things around and somehow become a responsible breeder working only for the betterment of the dogs and not for sheer profits? Let me answer that for you... NO! And no, I don't have a "fuzzypup," I ran across them while searching for a REPUTABLE havanese breeder and was absolutely appalled that these disgusting mill brokers tried to paint themselves as a "family business all about the dogs." Give me a break. All about the Benjamins maybe. I just laid my rescued mill dog (from a mill dog shelter, not "rescued" by buying them from the mill!!) to rest, about 5 years before her breed's typical lifespan, after years of illness and suffering, because people like ol' Clem and Fuzzypups couldn't care less if they're churning out dogs that are going to suffer from painful health defects all their short lives. They'd rather make money off torturing sentient creatures- and make no bones about it, that's what dogs in mills go through- torture! Before they accuse me of being against breeders, there's absolutely nothing wrong with buying a dog from a responsible breeder who is doing everything they can to produce healthy, well adjusted dogs, better the breed, and do right by dogkind. Heck, I'm looking for a good breeder myself, for my own reasons. Fuzzypups is NOT a good breeder, nor is Clem Disterhaupt. Sure, you might get lucky and end up with a healthy or psychologically sound dog if you buy from Fuzzypups, but based on other reviews it's quite the gamble. MORE IMPORTANTLY, any money you give to Fuzzypups, whether through boarding, grooming, or buying a puppy, is going directly back into the mill industry and ensuring people like Clem Disterhaupt can stay in business to keep churning out mill puppies. We just got Timmy today, our third puppy from Fuzzy Pups. As always great dogs, our first one was Barkley, a Bichon Frise. Maisy, a Shi-shon Mix and now Timmy, a Wheaten Terrier. All puppies that we have purchased from Pam are amazing, we were lucky to find Fuzzy Pups 15 years ago and never been disappointed. This is not a puppy mill, they are great dog breeders and they definitely know what they're doing, the dogs come from a great blood line. My wife and I won't trust anyone other than Pam and her daughter Janae. I would highly recommend Fuzzy Pups if you want a pure bred dog. This place is wonderful! I've seen dogs come in and out and be happy as can be the whole time. Along side boarding the dogs while owners are out of town, this place also sells Bichon Frise, Shih Tzu, Shihchon and (now) Havanese puppies! Every dog gets their own "suite" with wooden floors and a soft comfy bed. Everyday the dogs are let out into the "playroom" two or three times. The playroom contains 4 more comfy toddler beds, this is where the dogs are allowed to interact and socialize. There are 4 backyards in case there happens to be some anti social dogs. We love Fuzzypups! We have had three dogs from them over the past 25 years. My Havanese, Oliver, is the most recent. He is almost two years old and we absolutely adore him. Our beautiful Pomeranian lived for 15 years and our amazingly sweet Bichon also lived for 15 years. We have been very happy with them and have boarded our dogs and also groomed them there for years. Fuzzypups is the best place to board a small dog! We so appreciate having a place to take our furry family member where he won't get trampled or overwhelmed by larger dogs. They have wonderful play areas both inside and out, individual suites for when it's time to go to bed, but what makes them so exceptional are the humans who love them. Our dog has gone to "camp" here for 12 years. "Aunt Pam" and the rest of the team love our dog like he's there own. They are willing to take on challenging​ circumstances when our dog was on meds, they offer full-service​ grooming services, and/or they will simply give them a bath before they come home. Based on a suggestion from someone who had adopted from Fuzzypups previously, I reached out to Pam via phone to discuss what attributes our new family member needed to have to be compatible with our clan. After talking with her, I decided to make the trip to Colorado. It was a great experience. The set up she has is fantastic. I wish I lived closer so I could use her grooming and boarding services. The puppies had indoor and outdoor play areas with ample room to run and play with each other. All of the areas were clean and well kept. Pam was very patient as I made my decision on a puppy. Once I got home with our new pup, Pam was only a phone call away to discuss any issues that came up and to offer advice if needed. these people are dog brokers. Why would anyone purchase from a broker where you cannot even meet the dog parents or see how the babies are raised? They get the puppies from some breeder they don't disclose which is more than fishy ... a good, ethical breeder is proud of their pups and wants to show them off, can bring vet references and wants to know where their puppies go! In a time where puppies are in short supply ... a good breeder doesn't need a broker unless they are a puppy mill or have something to hide? Puppies that come from elsewhere are kept in an outdoor area and an outbuilding and not raised with a family.This causes unnecessary stress on the puppies - first away from their mom , then after a few weeks yet another home! All this makes house training harder as the dogs don't even have a concept of inside/outside and socialization as well, regular household noises like vacuums, stairs , loud children, TV ... these are all things little puppies should be around to make well rounded pets. Do yourself a favor and find a breeder who cares enough to find good homes for their puppies and doesn't use a middle person. Try to see how the parent dogs are kept and how their personality is like. The prices that Fuzzypups charges are very high - for this kind of money you can expect a purebred dog, with papers, from a breeder you can meet in person! Anyone can register a dog and then pass other litter off as purebred - Havanese look close enough to many mixed breeds that it is hard to tell unless you see the parents and ideally the grandparent dogs! Don't support brokers and puppy mills ... support local small breeders registered with the State vet dept and always demand to see the living conditions puppies were raised in ! read more

We adopted a puppy from them 12 years ago when they still bred and sold Bichons and Shih-shons ... Our dog was extremely fearful and I would say that he had likely not experienced grass or many surfaces before he got to our home. Our baby was scared of everything ... the outdoors, wind, other dogs, would not potty outside - potty training was unbelievably difficult. We adopted an older dog as a companion for him per recommendation of our trainer and to this day ... I believe it saved him. Our other dog taught him how to be a happy dog and gave him security. I have since fostered many mill puppies and they show very similar symptoms. I have no proof that this place sells mill puppies but looking at our dog I am suspicious ... They have puppies every single month, only accept cash or check? Which breeder sends their babies off out of state to be sold by someone else? Their facility isn't like a home environment - puppies raised in facilities do not get the personal attention they need or get used to the everyday household routines. The prices they charge for their " Havanese" are astronomical and ...they cannot show the parents. All those little Teddy bear puppy mixes look similar when still little ... who can really prove that they have purebred Havanese? I am almost positive our own dog wasn't what they claimed it to be ... he got quite a bit bigger than both Shih Tzu or Bichon are ... 25 lb with not an oz of fat ( he is even skinny in old age) ... My vet thinks he is a poodle mix of some kind ( long snout, lite build ... not at all like Shih Tzu OR Bichon ... ) ... We love our dog dearly but ... if you want a puppy be cautious with Fuzzypups ... they charge breeder prices but are likely just another dog broker ... read more

Buyer Beware! Better ask yourself why this place keeps cranking out puppies every other month. They say they get them from a "reputable breeder" out of state. What kind of "reputable breeder" sends their puppies out of state to be sold? Pet store puppies sell the same thing - puppies from a "reputable breeder" out of state. These are called Puppy Mills. We bought one of these puppies a year ago. We asked for a submissive dog. When we saw the litter the owner kept trying to grab at one who was hiding in a corner. He was 14 weeks old by then and looked like he had been grabbed at a lot. We thought he would come out of his shell once he felt secure with us. So after going to classes and consulting a dog trainer we still have a dog extremely fearful of people. He recently bit a friend who came by for a visit. Unprovoked aggression. After a year he is good with us, but will not tolerate other people coming near him. Our dog trainer said we shouldn't trust him but only manage him. This has been a very sad experience with this dog. Maybe other fuzzy pups are more sociable but ours, even with tons of opportunities, has never warmed up to people.
