FYE (Sam Goody/Musicland/Suncoast) have been around forever cannibalizing each other but this is one of the few locations that remains in Florida. I was here about 2 months ago and was shocked that it was in such disarray. I thought to myself that, "wow this place is not going to last long". Flash Forward to August 2018 and I stopped in again and WOW WOW. I know they MUST have brought in a new manager or team. The store looks GREAT ! No more piles of stuff to sort through that is ripped, damaged or stained. Everything looked GREAT ! Organized, clean and tidy. I could not imagine shopping there before but now I certainly will be going to check some things out. Sadly, the prices are some of the highest you would find but their execution of presenting the store was excellent! As mentioned I was there a few months ago and the store was SO Different I just felt I NEEDED to give them a review to acknowledge all the obvious hard work they have been doing at this location. read more

This shop has been a staple in the Altamonte Mall for quite some time. They have expanded their breadth of items over time, and now have everything from tshirts to record players. They run deals most of the time which can be a good buy if you are interested in multiple items, as the deals are usually buy 1 get 1 half off, or the like. The staff here is skeleton and the cashier is most often the only worker you'll see. Things are kept clean and they are well stocked, so you may find it easy to grab something you like here. This FYE still sells CDs when many others don't anymore and that alone is enough for me to give a high rating. Hope it continues to last. Other that it's a pretty standard FYE. If you're looking for something super specific you might not find it, but fair general selection of nerd merchandise coupled with the Hot Topic, Boxlunch, and Hudson's all in the Altamonte Mall. read more

I have been to this store a couple of times and I won't be back. Everything is over priced and it is doesn't last no matter how good I take care of it. But my last straw is when I went to get a Christmas present and the guy at the cash register suggested I become an FYE member at first I said "no" but he then got really pushy about it and I just wanted to go, then he made a really big deal about how it was "free" and I would not be charged ANYTHING and I would just get points that I could use later.... Only to find out a month later, it did cost something and I was shocked to find a charge on my card for this membership! Then I had to create a friggin account to cancel it. This is my go-to place for Funko Pops! This place has one of the biggest selections with some of the best pops on their shelves. Always check the discount area you can sometimes find great deals on Funko Pops. Now I look around the place they have amazing TShirts and a Vinyl selection that is awesome! This has to be my favorite FYE location, I think this is the anime fanatic dream come true story,They have all the coolest things ,from socks to bobble heads to beach towels you name it, and I guess they also sell DVDs not sure who buys them nowadays,but They have a pretty huge selection. read more

Thomas was incredible. I had a speaker that was a year old that began having issues with the charging port. I called the store and Thomas answered the phone and instantly made me feel like I was in the most capable of hands, reassured me he's gonna do everything he can do so I can jam out later ( witch I am!!!!). he said I can bring in my speaker and exchange it for a new one no hassle or argument. When I got there with my old speaker it turns out the price dropped so I ended up getting a new speaker for less than the price of the old one! I cannot thank him enough for his patience and just overall awesomeness!!!!! He even took my old one to see if you would refurbish the charge port saving the environment by not just tossing it I really can't stress it enough Thomas is incredible. Nice electronics store chain in the mall with lots of blu-rays and collectibles such as figures, funko pops, and shirts. Prices can be a little high, but you can sometimes find things you've never thought to look for online. Great place to get gift ideas for movie and tv geeks. read more

Stopped by Altamonte Mall for some clothes and ducked in here. My soul felt dirty at first. I miss the days of Musicland and Camelot in the malls.. so I forged ahead and figured I'd glance around with the pretentious veiled feeling that I'm tooooo coooool for this place. I didn't much mind the actual selection they had, though. Found something..Then the $15-$16 price tag made my soul feel dirty again.. I actually bought it.. and the guy asked me if I wanted to purchase the $2 scratch/replace plan.. HAHA!!!! That laugh has worth the bloated (almost more bloated than me after hitting an Indian buffet) price. Oh well. . what else is one gonna do in the Altamonte Mall since Farrell's closed down. read more

In a day and age, when most items are available online, I enjoy the older ways, of being able to look through piles of movies and CDs, and FYE is a great place for that! It's almost like visiting MovieStop (which I really miss, and wish they didn't close). When you look through these racks of items, sometimes you can find some hard to find items, and that for me, is the biggest reason to come here. They also have good deals on apparel, and also random items like specialty cereals, giant candy, and record players. One star knocked off for new item prices, which are in some cases ridiculously high, and for poor trade-in value. (I tried trading in halfway decent CDs, and they only took one out of maybe 7 or 8.) I'll be sure to come back here, whenever I'm at the Altamonte Mall, though, as I really enjoy it. read more

Customer service is bad I called about a movie and they told me they put on hold for the day get there about two hours after I called. Found out they never had it at all . Was disappointed so thought of another movie that will be great . Went to ask if they had in stock after looking for 15 min I went to the desk and asked them if they could look up a movie title and she just straight up and said no . I asked another worker she said no . So finally found something and they ask about member ship I said no . She kept pushing it on me like it's a rip off I don't read the magazines I don't like you guys ignoring me when I trying to look for movie titles and I hardly come in here . In all I was in here for 45 minutes with no good help . Get people that actually want to do their jobs please . read more

I love FYE it is so amazing, i love movies and tv shows and all the merchandise they sell their but the best part is their employees, one in particular is literally one of the best workers i have ever encountered, Thomas from the altamonte springs FYE is truly incredible, he is very helpful and makes sure before he goes back to his task that i am satisfied and dont need any more help, he is so very helpful and nice and had a great attitude towards customers and i love going here because of that, i recommend coming here to everyone i know, they would love it and love the customer service, whenever i have a problem thomas is their to help and he is always focused and polite which most workers arent like, and when i need to find a movie or tv show or just something to buy i want, i got to fye bc ik they would have what i want, i recommend coming here to everyone. read more

Asked a simple question if they had a specific cd, was on hold for over 15mins before I decided to hang up.

Shameful. At the check-out guy is talking super fast saying do I want to be A reward member to save 10%? I say sure if it's free! He says it's a 30 day free trial. I say ok....it'll be easy enough to cancel. I wake up the next morning with a $3.16 charge from TME*MAGAZINE. I go get the membership paperwork from the rewards program. Inside I see a flyer from FYE with magazines on the front and a barcode on front. Umm Google showed this was a scam for a trial magazine subscription . I called the number to cancel and it says I'm subscribef to Entertainment Weekly, a weekly magazine and the most expensive. YESTERDAY IN THE STORE I NEVER ASKED FOR A MAGAZINE SUBSCRIPTION OR WAS TOLD ABOUT ONE. THE CASHIER SAW I WAS WITH MY 6 YR OLD AND CLEARLY WAS TAKING ADVANTAGE. He was all lemme hurry up and get you out of here....they should be ashamed for ripping people off that way. read more

screw this store I hope this business collapses. I bought a Keychain and they ask if I wanna be a fye member for future discounts. I ask if this costs money they said no, with just a email that's good to go. I'm being charged later for a membership $11. how they go about getting my information like my card number I don't know. my fault possibly for not reading details but to my understanding they weren't provided to me. As for the customer service the lady on the phone explains how wonderful it is and why I should keep it. listen I don't care give me my money back and end the service I was mislead into. least they did..for now End rant. read more

This is a place in the mall where you can get your DVD/CD/LP on. Great selection of movies to buy, new and used as well as music, posters and other nicknack entertainment accessories. If you stop in on a holiday or around Christmas, they usually have some pretty good buy one get one style deals. I was there solely to purchase some records. Their selection is pretty weak. The LP section is about 10 feet long and only about a yard and a half deep. You got your top 40 and pop, some hip hop and rock, but nothing interesting. You aren't going to find any gems in this selection unless someone happened to bring in an old, used LP to sell. Speaking of used LPs, I reckon out of the grand total of all records available for purchase, maybe 1/20th of the total was used. Very slim amount indeed. Bummer. The popular wax was going for around 20-30 bucks a pop. I got an old RATM record that came with the picture disc. Unfortunately the sleeve it came in (the photo discs don't have the regular cardboard sleeve records come in so as to showcase the design printed on the wax) was really banged up and torn. I asked if they had any others I could put it in instead. They had none. I said would you knock a buck off the price since it's mangled. They said no. Pretty weak. If you want CDs or DVDs, FYE is great. If you want records, stick to Park Ave. read more

I have been a customer of FYE for almost 20 years but in recent visits the customer service has been abysmal and the store layout is a convoluted mess. To make matters worse my visit yesterday was enough to stop me from ever going in again. I went in with one purchase in mind which I found immediately because I knew exactly where it was. I continued to look around just in case something else caught my attention when an employee approached me and asked if I needed any help so I replied "No I'm just looking". She proceeded to eye me suspiciously. After wandering around in the disorganized disaster the store has become I became frustrated and decided to check out with my one item. I approached the registers which only 1 of was actually open despite there being multiple employees on the floor. I waited for the customer in front of me to be finished with their transaction while the same employee from earlier still stared at me. She then walked over to another registet but just stood there like a bouncer. As I handed my item to the cashier the same lady says to me "That's all you're getting after you walked around the store this whole time?" Instead of getting angry with her I decided to hold my tongue. What business is it of anyone how much a person purchases if anything? Just because someone goes into a store doesn't mean they are obligated to buy anything. This was one of the most unprofessional and unacceptable encounters I have ever had with a store employee. I will take my business elsewhere in the future. I don't appreciate being badgered or having people make assumptions about what I'm doing in a store. I don't know if they've had recent thefts or whatever but it seemed apparent that she was insinuating something negative about my intentions. read more
