Fantastic store with lots of vintage game cartridges! They have old school games and it's like a walk down memory lane seeing all the different states games they offer. They also have a gaming area with chairs and controllers. In the far back there's tabletop gaming station for weekly meetings - check out the monthly calendar pic for events in June. Staff greeted me when I walked in and offered help. It's an open floor plan and everything is easy to see. They have a wall of POPs as well if you're interested. I froze once I walked in here! Seeing NES and SNES cartridges display brought me back to my childhood. This store has everything for current gamers and older with the games, wires and accessories. It doesn't stop there though, they have figures, dolls and plushes as well. I couldn't help but to stop and look at everything that they had to offer. I was just simply passing through, but I know that I will return to make purchases and I'm also spreading the word other old school gamers to take a stop in here. The employees are nice but the values of the store suck. Bought a 3d tv that they kept insisting they tested and everything worked but the glasses don't work and all i get is store credit for the glasses or store credit if i return the tv aswell so im basically out 400 bucks either way read more

Do not buy from this store, I purchased a PlayStation 2 controller, within a week the controller had a drift called back and the employe was unprofessional, made it seem like it was my fault I wanted a refund and she continued to say there was nothing they could do to help. If I could I would give them no stars. read more

Possibly the best of the three Hudson's locations. I stop by every time I'm in the Altamonte Mall and the experience improves a little more each time. You can tell they've put in the work to make this store very approachable and inviting, and they even host community events there now. The retro game selection is better some days than others, but it's worth stopping by if you're specifically looking for controllers, repro carts, or funko pops/similar collectibles. The current store is a far cry from the Hudson's of 4-5 years ago that felt like a musty, shadowy corner of the mall. If you haven't been here in a long time, stop in again and it will feel very different than you remember. read more

My journey starts at the Oveido Mall location where for $115 i purchased a PSP-1000 console. The guy working there was extremely nice and we had a great conversation. He was very helpful. He informed me that the console had Custom Firmware installed because it was a japanese console and that lets it play US games or something. Or at least that's how he explained it to me. No problem. They explained they don't do it themselves and that their "supplier" does the custom firmware stuff. The issue with this is that their "supplier" installs an ancient version of firmware 5.50 which means the system is unable to run some games released after the 5.50 firmware (105 games to be exact, including MANY major titles like Littlebigplanet, for example.) The worst part is that they actually change a file in the console that makes it impossible to upgrade to a newer version because they LOCK it to prevent you from doing so. The console is tricked into believing it is on "version 9.90" and that's what it tells you when you try to update. There's no such thing at 9.90 it's just the value they put when installing this crappy custom firmware, on purpose to prevent you from updating. Sidenote: the battery on my console is also completely shot and doesn't hold a charge for more than ~45 mins. Luckily i am technically inclined so i was actually able to revert all of their changes and finally installed an official updated Sony firmware, and got a new battery. i installed the most recent version, now i can finally play my games on the thing. The average consumer, however, would have no idea how to do this and to them the whole thing would become a paperweight when trying to play popular games like: Littlebigplanet, Final Fantasy IV, Kingdom Hearts, Gran Turismo, and MORE. This is because, again, you have to go into the system's flash storage and change a file they changed themselves to PREVENT you from updating. Before i reverted these distasteful changes or even touched the console at all i took it over to the altamonte location because it was closest to me. The dude working at that location, unlike the first guy at Oveido, didn't want to work with me at all. I told him i wanted to return the console and he really didn't want to do it. he sat there trying to talk me out of it and was giving me a hard time trying to tell me that there's "no reason for you to even update it", which is completely untrue as i just stated. Was being extremely argumentative, refusing to offer a bit of decent customer service. Unbelievable. This made me pretty angry and then his computer bluescreened and the whole situation there was a sh*tshow so i just grabbed my stuff and left. Oh yeah, also they ONLY OFFER STORE CREDIT FOR RETURNS... which is insane to me. literally every store nowadays can do card returns. that's completely bizarre. they just want to keep your money and don't care about quality of product. they need to work this out with their "distributor" immediately because selling these paperweights for over $100 is absolutely crazy. unfortunately i don't think i will be returning. luckily i was able to fix my psp myself because they were unwilling to offer any help. anyone else would have probably been screwed and thrown the thing in the trash. if you'd like to visit a good store i would recommend gamers inc... jeez i would even recommend ebay over this place. an absolute joke. read more

Brought my step son here. He loves it. Staff was very friendly. I'm writing this review after taking 2 laxatives and entire bottle of laxatives. I've been having explosive diarrhea for hours now and regret my life choices. The video game section here is phenomenal and you can find a wide variety of controllers, gaming equipment that you would normally have to buy online. Before you hate on me, yes I am aware that this is a video game store. I'm aware that typically that would entail that the majority of their shelf space be filled with video games or video game accessories. But here's the thing... when my grandma passed away a year ago, I inherited her collection of Charming Tails. She had a handful of them, and over the past year I have built the collection up to around 40. I can find them cheap on eBay, and I've had relatively good luck at estate sales and garage sales, and also very good luck at antique shops and knickknack markets. However, whenever I search for Charming Tails on Craigslist, I am flooded with a spamload of ads from Hudson's Video Games, which they seemingly post every single day, day in and day out (see screenshot). This block of daily ads floods the search results making it hard to even see any regular old person's ad mentioning an estate sale or something. All you see is their ads. When you click the ad link, their craigslist ad states that they buy sell and trade a large selection of figurine brands. It then lists 75+ brands including Charming Tails, Boyd's, Hallmark, etc. Yet when I walked into the store today, I saw maybe five figurines total in the entire store. For the massive amount of spam advertisement that they do, I'd expect to at least see an entire section of the store dedicated to collectibles- not just one measly shelf. Then, the associate (black haired female) did not even look up once the entire time I was in the store, and it took me circling the store interior at least twice before she even acknowledge my presence, still without looking up. Forget engaging me regarding what I was looking for, which could have led to her offering an explanation or whatever. As I stated, I am aware this is a video game store, and I'm sure if I was interested in some video games I would be very pleased. But based on the massive amount of overbearing spamlike ads that they flood Craigslist with, I expected at least a mediocre selection of figurines to choose from. While they did have some plush video game-esque dolls and a few video game figurines, there was nothing resembling any of the dozens of figurines their ad mentions. Couple that with the horrible customer service, and at this point I have zero reason to ever recommend this store to anyone. read more

If you have ever braved the Altamonte Mall three days before Christmas then you are familiar with level 10 anxiety. I had one last thing on Santa's list and couldn't find it anywhere-until I walked into Hudson's. The store seems to have everything one would need for old school and new school gamers alike. But the true reason for the 5 star review is the young gentleman at the counter named Mission. He was so friendly, funny and answered all of my questions with ease. Brutal ripoff if you're looking for store credit or to sell. I came in with a box of old games (maybe 100) and several working systems (Playstation, Nintendo 64, Super Nintendo, and a couple more). The first red flag was when she asked me how much I was looking for. They are the experts. I just expected a fair offer. So I left her everything and she came back with an offer of $100 trade or $63 in cash. Seriously. I told her that I'd rather donate it to good will, and she immediately offered $100 cash and $175 in trade. Too little and way too late. They are just out to get you. Not at all reputable. When you go to a Game Stop, they look up each item and tell you their resale value. Simple fair. Take it or not. They aren't looking to soak you for as little as possible. I sold most of the stuff to them, and took the REMAINDER to Cybertron Video games on Forsythe and got over $250 back. Stay away from these crooks. read more
