a few days ago, my husband stepped on his relatively new progre$$ive glasses and mutilated them, bending both the frame and the arm into unnatural shapes. his vision is poor, so jim relies a lot on them but he still managed to crunch them after working hours. the next day, we called FYidoctors and spoke with jackie, the optician; she told us to come in right after lunch. at first glance, jackie thought we'd have to get a new frame (jim had no back-up pair) because it looked truly mauled, but at least the lenses were still ok. she told us she would take them in back to try and work with them a little and hoped it didn't make them worse. after not too long, jackie came back and handed jim glasses, which looked very much like they did originally. what? he thought they were a different pair from the wreck he brought in; no, jackie fixed them and asked that he try them on. he could read just fine. we both kept looking up at her, incredulous that not only could they be re-shaped like new, but that her re-adjusting them made the prescription feel even better than before the abuse. jackie is a petite woman, very soft-spoken and not given to excess chatter (like i am). but she is warm, sincere, kind and very present in her dealings with you ...and she packs one helluva good optical repair. we wished we could have her as our PCPs and you will, too. read more

My husband and I recently went to ClearVue for eye exams and new prescription glasses. It was my husband's first ever experience at an optometrist and lucky for him! All the staff including the front desk staff, Shiloh, Dr. Nguyen, and Jackie, were all so friendly, helpful and professional. We both had an amazing experience and are so glad we chose ClearVue! Additionally, when I initially set up our appointments, I spoke with Kimberly, who was so friendly and helpful and who helped me figure out we had insurance coverage through both our employers for more benefits. This made a huge difference when we were choosing our frames! Another reason we really enjoyed our experience is that we didn't feel like we were competing for anyone's attention; from start to finish, we felt taken care of and cared for at every step in the process. This isn't really my style, I try to find a positive in everything, especially with the way the world has been rotating lately, way too much disrespect towards others. Needless to say I have been a patient with ClearVue for many years. I really don't enjoy my yearly visits, the staff that sits behind your counters are not a friendly outgoing group of people. Very passive expressions and I don't recall ever seeing smiles. (It makes you wonder what kind of work environment they have) I recently went in for my yearly exam, I have always used the frames that I wore the year prior as my frames for the new glasses, I would then put the frames from the current year away and use them the following year. I do this because I can't afford frames every year, besides I like the frames and they are still in good condition. Yes, I understand that there is a waiver that I must sign and agree that because they are used frames Clearvue is not responsible for any damages incurred. What I don't understand is that when the frames/glasses are still in Clearvue's possession and they damage or break the frames that I am held accountable when I haven't taken possession of them yet. When I picked up my glasses, I meet with a gentleman that makes sure the glasses are adjusted to fit properly. While he sat across from me manipulating/adjusting the frames all of a sudden his facial expression changes and he looks at me and states "you weren't suppose to see that." I assumed he meant that I shouldn't be watching him manipulate the frames so that I didn't try it myself. He then stood up and left the table, shortly thereafter he returned and had me try them on again. I didn't feel like they were sitting properly but he assured me that they looked good from his side and for me to try them out and if I needed them adjusted again just to come back in. I wore them for about a week and kept noticing that they would slide down my nose and tilt to the left and I would have to take them and resettle them back on my nose. I realized that they were not hooking behind my right ear so I took a closer look. He had snapped the frame along the ear area and either glued or soldiered them back together making the right side shorter than the left and hence the continuous pushing them back on and adjusting them. I sent an email to Clearvue stating that I wasn't happy, that I was not informed by the employee that he had broken the frames and requesting that Clearvue pay for new lens to be put in my other frames. I received no response from my email and decided to contact their office for an explanation. Needless to say I did get a call back, there was no apology, there was no empathy, he actually sat in silence on his end not saying a word. I eventually said "Apparently you aren't willing to discuss any compensation for the damage caused by your employee, in your office and prior to me taking possession of my property." He stated that was correct "you signed the waiver." Talk about bad business practices, apparently they felt they needed to make sure that the hardship didn't reflect upon them or their finances. I did inform Mr. Coldstone Silent on the other end of the phone that I will not be returning in the future, I have reported the bad business practice to the Better Business Bureau and will submit a written review anywhere I see their business name pop up. I am also registering a complaint with the Board of Ophthalmology. You just don't bite the hand that supports your business and has for years. Granted my yearly contribution may not be enough in your eyes, but damage to your reputation hopefully will bite you back. The optometrist Dr Lidicoat was good, however the optical shop made a couple of mistakes with my daughter's glasses and the last straw was being turned away for being 12 minutes late for my appointment. I understand their policy, but Kimberly was so condescending toward me when I was trying to figure out when we could reschedule. She was not at the desk when I arrived which factored into my late check in time. Another issue: I was first told they had a 9 minute window before they would make me reschedule, when I arrived Kimberly said it was 8, and when I called back to get this rude woman's name I was told it is a 10 minute window. What is it??? Doesn't matter, Kimberly was so unprofessional I'm finding a completely different provider for my husband, daughter and myself. read more

I live 1.5 hours away. You'd think I'd visit Roseville to visit my parents who live here and arrange to see the optometrist during my visit. But actually, I come to Roseville for Dr. Swanson, and my parents are lucky if I stop by during my visit (kidding, kidding, I always make sure to stop by my parents'). I have been going to Dr. Swanson for the last 20 years, minus the couple years I moved three hours away (more on that below), so my experience is pretty reflective of a continuous level of care and satisfaction with their services. This is in stark contradiction to some recent reviews that detail one-off experiences. A side note, please go check out those reviewers' other reviews so you can get an accurate perspective into their validity. I'll let you be the judge - look into their distribution of how many stars they give and their disproportionate negative reviews to gain insight into their "review style." When I moved a few hours away for a couple years, I realized just how good I had it for three reasons: (1) Best quality lenses and clearest vision, by default; (2) Accuracy and precision of the prescription - the first time; (3) Customer service and professionalism. I did not realize that this was not the general experience of optometry. I couldn't find an optometrist even CLOSE to the quality and care that ClearVue provides both with customer service/professionalism and the actual eye care. ClearVue was my standard and set the highest expectations that apparently could not be met elsewhere. I went to THREE other optometrists trying to find one that would match this level of care. I'll detail some of my experiences below to contrast them with ClearVue, so skip to next paragraphs if you're not interested. (1) BEST quality lenses with the clearest vision possible through their default (and only offering of) Trivex lens: The first optometrist I tried got an accurate prescription, but their customer service, professionalism, and lack of complete information was appalling. By default, they offered the cheapest lenses with none of the current standard add-ons such as scratch-resistant or anti-reflective coatings. ClearVue ONLY offers the highest quality lenses - thinnest, most resilient, and clearest vision that can be offered. Yes, you pay a premium for them. This is not your budget eye care, and it is worth the cost IMO. (2) Accuracy and precision of prescription, the first time: The second optometrist office had me convinced for a while that I apparently have [overly dramatized gasp] *special eyes* and could not get my prescription right after *three attempts*. They even accidentally switched my left and right eye prescription for contacts in the computer, but not the astigmatism level, so neither contact worked for my "special eyes." I could never even call them without preparing for the call by having my prescription ready to go because their record-keeping was so poor. I always began the call with, "Okay, first of all, what prescription do you have for me in the computer?" Btw, their customer service, when I politely called them on having to do this for the fourth time, told me, "Well, you should really just always have your prescription on hand." I was just thinking, "Okay, yeah, I mean I have a general idea, but it's kind of expected that my OPTOMETRIST has the precise prescription!" *face palm* I've never had to use it, but ClearVue will re-check your prescription if it changes within 6 months of your annual eye exam for not additional cost. (3) Customer service and professionalism: For my third attempt to find an optometrist, I just went to Costco so I could get a d*mn accurate prescription. As you can imagine, they are a budget friendly option and aren't really about providing the best customer service. The appointments have to be scheduled far in advance, I had to wait quite a while to be seen for my appointment, and they were so busy that it was hard to get through on the phone. With ClearVue, I have never experienced a huge delay with my appointments. I have found the staff to be exceedingly professional and easy to communicate with. Ultimately, I have decided to make the drive and continue care with Dr. Swanson because he's just that good. I didn't realize how good I had it till it was gone, so now I'm making making sure I stay. I just love Dr. Swanson for all the reasons I listed above. I would say there is one, and only one, downside to ClearVue - the cost. This is not your budget friendly office, and they don't pretend otherwise. Some insurances do not cover the premium charges for their comprehensive eye exam. ClearVue discloses this immediately and has you sign papers to indicate you understand the cost. (I personally see that as a failure of our insurances, NOT ClearVue Eye Care.) So you can expect to pay it bit more here, and I have found that it is completely worth it. TLDR: ClearVue offers THE best optometry care I have EVER experienced. 12/10 would recommend. read more

Dr. Liddicoat is one of the leading professionals in vision services in the whole northern California area. I took my son to see her for his binocular vision assessment. He has high functioning autism and we wanted to make sure his eyes were developing appropriately. We found some very alarming defict areas, where we will go back to our school district and ask for vision therapy. If not for Dr. Liddicoat- our son would have continued to struggle in his classroom. Apparently I had to come back and explain my story since they attempted to discredit what I had to say and tried to complain to Yelp in order to delete my HONEST review which by their response to my last review, it sounds like that is what they did to others. Too bad Yelp deleted those. I didn't go into full detail on my experience with them because I didn't want to put my business out there. However, since they want to lie, I will go ahead and explain my disturbing experience. I took my 11 year old child in here for an exam. She was tearing quite a bit from one eye, I wanted her checked out. WITHOUT running ANY type of tests they diagnosed her with Chlamydia of the eye and it was because she was molested they clearly stated. They explained that they were Navy Dr's and they would see it all the time. So, I guess when you're a hammer everything looks like a nail! When I was told this by 'professionals' I really didn't put much thought into it at the moment. I panicked and had a breakdown in the office. I was just told a parents worst nightmare. I couldn't even think clearly. I felt like a failure as a parent and I wanted to hurt whoever hurt my child. I was questioning those around me who I've always trusted. Dr. Lech made a comment about needing to give me eye drops to hide my tears before I left the exam room with a chuckle and I was advised by Dr. Hornick to go home and investigate those who I have around my child because 'it's usually those who are close and someone had got to her'. Dr. Liddicoat was reckless here because she carelessly went along with her colleagues preposterous diagnosis without any tests being ran. I immediately took her into her pediatrician who actually tested her and sent her into a specialist, who also ran actual tests only to find out her tear ducts were blocked and that she may need a minor incision to unblock. They both had thought that the untested diagnosis of Chlamydia was ridiculous and reckless to even suggest. I could have left ClearVue that day and someone would have ended up dead that night, had I not been able to calm myself down and rationalize things. I never heard from ClearVue after that. Never received a call of concern or apology. Not a thing. These Dr's here at ClearVue have been grossly incompetent. read more

Dr. Swanson was absolutely wonderful addressing our concerns in detail, but in a way we could both understand what was going on. Even though we were an add-on to his schedule, he never once made us feel any pressure. Today I called and got an appointment because I had something going on with one of my eyes and it needed to be looked at. However, when I arrived no one at the front desk was wearing a mask, nor did they take my temperature. I had my mask on but was uncomfortable, however I figured the doctor and doctor's assistant would wear one. NOPE. My mom has been seen here for years and was scheduled for cataract surgery. Sounds pretty easy except she wasn't on the surgeons calendar even after meeting with him for pre-op. Ok again sounds like an honest mistake because its a different office/surgery center, but as we were sitting there waiting for them to correct the situation, 2 more people from clear view came in with the same situation (not on the schedule). We waited 2.5 hours! She had to be seen today due to the meds she had to take pre surgery. Not sure how this could happen but my experience with clear view has not been so great!!! This problem effected everyone here today because it put the surgery center behind by an hour the receptionist is telling everyone and having to apologize. Hope they correct this problem soon because she still has one more eye to do in a month or so!! I will be giving a follow up review after the second eye is complete. read more

Dr. Aaron Lech is, in my opinion, the best, most professional medical doctor I have ever had the pleasure to meet. He is intelligent yet goes out of his way to explain everything you need to know to make informed decisions in an easy to understand manner. He is experienced yet well versed in new eye care technology. He is genuinely interested in your well-being. He doesn't tell you what you should do, but will recommend what he would do in your situation. And, not that it affects his patient care here in the U.S. for the better or worse, but he also donates time and expertise each year providing eye care to less fortunate people in rural India. Even though I have now moved to San Francisco, I am considering returning to Roseville whenever I need to get my vision checked. I only wish other doctors met my needs as well or as thoroughly as Dr. Lech. As a whole, I have found the staff at ClearVue to be friendly, professional and efficient. However, for me the most important reason to visit this office is to receive care from the excellent Dr. Lech. read more

My daughter is in vision therapy at Clearvue and I purchased glasses there as well. If this were review were simply a review of Dr. Lidicoat it would be five stars hands down. She is extremely professional, caring, fair and an excellent communicator. On the whole my experience with the staff has been very positive. Thank you to Kris Lundquist for her kindness and diplomacy in handling a complaint I made. There were a few little mistakes that were especially irksome to me because of all the other stressors I am currently facing. This is a very organized and professional office, but hey let's face it, no one is perfect, we all make mistakes. How mistakes are handled says a lot about a business. This business took the time to listen and find a fair solution. Onnica Pipes helped me choose my specs. I really enjoyed her friendliness and sense of style. My daughter likes her vision therapist Ruth Usvat. We are still in the middle of this process, but I am already seeing the benefits for my daughter. Let me first just say that everyone in the office is friendly and personable. It was easy to make an appointment and to get in relatively soon. The office is clean and organized and I was seen right on time for my appt. Just a heads up, they take a preventative approach to medicine. So not only do you get a Rx but you get a through comprehensive eye exam. It's not just a "here's your Rx now go." I'm also happy they don't use the eye pressure test and stick with the traditional pressure test, which is more accurate. Only thing I wish they told me when I made the appointment on the phone was that they make all patients get an eye scan (machine that takes a photo of the back of your eye and other data) that is not covered by anyone's insurance thus costing you $39. Dr. Lech does a fabulous job of explaining why the scan helps in helping to spot any issues or catch them early on. I admit, I was apprehensive on it being mandatory until he showed me the how and why behind it. Then again, I'm not sure I would've understood it over the phone but it would've been nice to be prepared for it. Dr. Lech is the kind of eye doctor you want to see every year. He is passionate about the field and explains things thoroughly, without overwhelming you with too much info. He welcomes any questions and is very friendly. His approach is to catch issues early on versus waiting until there is a problem to then treat it. To order lenses through them is a bit pricer than others, in my experience, but I think it is because they have the latest and greatest, top of the line products with their lenses. They are also honest about the differences in materials, and why they use what they feel is better. So, you get what you pay for. read more

This is the second time I have seen Dr. Lech and I seriously counldn't be happier. The girls at the front desk are super friendly and are more than happy to help. They have done an outstanding job both times assisting me in picking out new frames. They are all so cute and really fun. I really appreciate their honesty-they made choosing a new pair of frames extrememly fun. Dr. Lech is the friendliest guy ever! He takes the time to talk about any concerns and explains as much as he can in much detail. It is clear that he really cares for his clients. On this last visit, I mentioned that I would be going down to San Diego for a long weekend getaway. He beemed as he told me he went to school there and proceeded to take out a piece of paper and jotted down an hand full of suggestions. This was my first time here. The staff is very welcoming and friendly. They were very helpful in helping me to choose a new pair of eye glasses. As they started examining my eyes, they went over everything that they were going to do and or doing. They explained the test results in detail and asked my several times if I had any questions. I felt very comfortable and they really took their time. I wasn't rushed like a lot of other eye doctors I have seen. The eye doctor asked about me and actually gave me some helpful information and a referral number for a holistic doctor to help me with some of my other health issues. It is a little more costly so be prepared for that, but it is definitely quality work! I highly recommend this place to all. read more

My daughter failed vision exam at school and her pediatrician referred us here. The doctor and office staff are really great, however, this place is really expensive. Thus I have chosen to go elsewhere for my daughter's vision exams and glasses. I really dislike all the reminder calls and emails to return to their office for another eye exam. I do not wish to return and should not have to ask them to stop calling me. If I want to return, I will call and make an appointment. If your vision benefits cover you 100% then I would recommend this place. If not, look elsewhere to save on your out of pocket expenses. read more

Dr. Swanson did a very thorough exam and tests in fact I was there for 1 hour and 20 minutes and I did not spend any of that time in the waiting room. first let me say that until yesterday, this has been one of the best eye care places I have used. When the office called me to make my annual appointment I was disturbed to find out that during this epidemic time they do not require face masks. They leave it up to the client to determine if they "want" masks to be worn. But during the day, the staff is NOT required to wear masks. Additionally, they do not require Clients to wear masks. The COO called me back and explained that "the Dr.s do not believe that masks work". This sounded all too familiar and clearly, they are not practicing safe health practices. I will never go back. WARNING! If you visit this office and request a contact lens fitting, your insurance will be charged for materials at the same time that they bill for the exam. Their practice is to bill insurance for contact lenses without patient knowledge or consent. This means that your lens benefit is exhausted for the year and if you don't opt for contact lenses, the office retains the money paid by the insurance. That also means that you won't be able to get glasses for the rest of the year. In 2012, I went to this office and expressed an interest in contacts. I had a contact lens fitting with instructions to return in a couple of weeks to finalize the prescription. I never returned. The office billed the insurance company for the exam and for contact lenses anyway. I never knew this happened until this year. In March 2013, I returned to the office for my eye exam, and explained that I'd never returned last year, why don't I try to those contact lenses again. Received another sample pack and after wearing them, decided that I didn't like them. Fast forward to July, and I try to order glasses. Guess what, no benefits I'm told. I call the office and they tell me that I picked up a box of contact lenses that I ordered, and don't I remember that? Uh no I never ordered them and I never authorized any such charge. I had to call John, the office manager, who said that they'd refund the insurance for this year, but not for last year. Too much time had elapsed, so too bad, no refund there. (Had I known I would have made a stink about it!) He refunded the insurance about $70, which of course is $90 shy of releasing my benefits for the year. Oh, but they'll keep that on my account as a credit, they said. What good does that do me? That's 2 years in a row that they have cheated the insurance company. No desire to return to an office that has, in my opinion, unscrupulous at best, fraudulent at worst, billing practices. Is Dr. Lech a good doctor? Sure, he's fine. But good optometrists are a dime a dozen around here and I'd rather take my business to someone who doesn't play with my insurance benefits like they have. Who needs crap like this? I love Dr. Swanson, I've been going to him for years. He recently closed his office and joined this new eye group. Since coming to this new facility I'm not happy. First off, I called with a question and was left on hold with no check in for almost 8 minutes. Not cool. Even WITH insurance it was going to cost me an excess of $260 for lenses ONLY. Just lenses with my old frames, because apparently they only use some special lens not plastic. I don't care. I just want to read my computer screen. I don't think it's acceptable to not give the customer a choice as to if they want to pay extra for some special lens. I'll take my prescription and go elsewhere, thank you. No bueno. Considering changing eye doctors because of this. read more

Very knowledgeable and great service. My husband had an eye emergency over a weekend when he took a branch to the eye. My husband was going to go to the ER but called ClearVue first and one of the doctors was kind enough to come in to see him.
