I really wish I would have read the reviews and realized all these great reviews are from years…read moreago!! This is the worst experience I have ever had with an eye doctor. The receptionist could care less being there, the doctor didn't listen when I kept saying everything was blurry on my bi- focal (i don't have any issues seeing up close) and even suggested to me I shouldn't use my phone as much because it's just me not adjusting to her prescription. I have a job that requires use of a cell phone, text messages, and emails. That response was a very out-of-touch response. During the exam, she kept asking me which slide was clearer but nothing was changing in the machine. When I commented I can't tell the difference, she got agitated with me and just kept repeating, slide 1 or 2. i have had exams in the past, and something always clicks in the machine so it's clear difference between slides but nothing was happening with this machine. I finally did my best to answer but I think I ended up undermining myself. I was then fitted with a contact lens, given a couple of samples but then told, save the last one for the doctor. So I could wear them 3 days to see if they worked. It gave me a terrible headache and only figured out the adjustment period is actually three weeks (AI taught me that, not the doctor). I paid $150 in contact exam, fitting, and whatever else fees and none of that was discussed with me ahead of time. When I called back to ask questions I was brushed off being told the doctor will explain that to you next time. I don't usually take time to write reviews because I don't honestly think these companies care. I am just so tired Of having to over-advocate for myself every time I go to a doctor because their boredom/arrogance keeps getting in the way.

I can't say enough great things about Dr. O, and his appointment staff is very friendly and accommodating. All I can say is if you want to actually see Dr. Okamoto and not one of the other on-staff physicians, be sure to plan ahead as Dr. O is typically booked way out...sometimes as much as 2-3 months.

My mom wanted larger sized lenses for her progressive Rx rather than the current smaller ones. Unfortunately not many places carry the Silhouette brand but they also will not make new lenses if you bring in the frames. I called around and luckily spoke to a very patient and helpful lady who explained the situation regarding the Silhouette brand AND they will make make new lenses for my mom's frames here! Eureka! For those who are wondering why she doesn't just get new frames...this frame is ultra light since it's titanium and super durable cuz my mom has had it for a few decades. It also is her favorite frame so she doesn't want to change them. You know how the 'wiser'/older people don't like change lol. Anywho...we drive up to Folsom from Elk Grove. As soon as we walk in we're greeted warmly and with a smile. I again explain our predicament regarding my mom's frames. Ashley kindly guides us to the section that displays what we need. She patiently gives us advice, answers questions and does a lot of measuring and consulting. Needless to say she spends quite a bit of time with mom carefully measuring for the new lenses. My mom commented that she's never had anyone take such care with her measurements before. Poor Ashley... she was done with my mom but then it was my turn. She took at least an hour or so combing the internet searching for some frames for me. It had to be within specific parameters since I'm extremely nearsighted with astigmatism, need nose pads, light weight frames (preferably titanium), full frame, certain shape and size, etc. She was brain storming with the other nice lady in the office trying to find some suitable frames. They were busy in there with patients coming and going but we never felt rushed or shorted on customer service. Kudos to these ladies who delved out superb customer service with patience, humor and smiles ! Parking was easy and plentiful. They had great 80s music playing softly in the background that I quietly jammed to while browsing through the vast variety of frames. I'll definitely whisk my mom back to this establishment from Elk Grove. She was treated with kindness and patience which speaks volumes. The staff, from the time I arrived to choosing a new frame, to seeing the ophthalmologist were all friendly and professional and Dr Maboudi was wonderful. The office is on the second level inside a Sutter Medical building. There weren't a lot of patients that day, it was pleasantly quiet. He answered the phone and took time to answer my many questions with patience. I felt he truly cares about individual patients' needs and preferences, and provides personalized care accordingly. I made an appointment 6 months down the road, and he had no problem with that. After the call, I sent an email with some basic information about us. He responded quickly to confirm all was set. My husband came back from the appointment and was really happy with the whole experience of the care Dr. Hollabaugh provided. I plan to make my initial visit with him one of these days.
