If I could give FYN Apparel more stars I would...I am so thankful for the work they did! My partner and I were set to attend a South Asian wedding and had received two traditional outfits from a neighbor, but the one for me was a bit too small at the hip, and the one for my boyfriend was much too large. We first brought our items to another well-reviewed tailor, but when we picked up our pieces they both fit worse. Mine was now baggy while still not fitting at the hip, and my partner couldn't even get his kurta on because it had been taken in too much. I desperately started calling around to see if any tailor could take on these pieces, plus one additional one the other tailor was supposed to do, all within a week. Fine was able to squeeze us in that same day to look at what needed to be altered and had them done with an extra day to spare. I am beyond happy with my experience at Fyn Apparel! I brought my wedding dress here to have the sides taken in, structure improved in bodice, cups added, the bottom hemmed, and a ballroom bustle added. They did a phenomenal job with all of that, and the dress is so much better than where we started (yet the alterations are somehow also basically invisible). Our clothes are supposed to fit us and not the other way around. Luckily FYN Apparel is here to help! I have had several garments altered here... skirts, dresses, and most recently a coat. Every time the process is smooth from start to finish and I end up with clothes that fit well and flatter my shape. The boutique space is cozy and there is a nice greenery backdrop for taking pictures if needed. Super disappointed. I saw in the website that they need their clients to make an appointment beforehand. Ok, fine. I wanted to fix a small thing on a jacket and there was no slot offered to make such an appointment, only things like 'alteration men's clothes' and such but not 'drop off an item for repair'. Based on the good reviews I went there and they told me I need an appointment and they have no time. I said ok, and made an appointment in 3 weeks to fit with my schedule and theirs. In my booking I outlined why I was disappointed that they were not able to honor my time and effort and let me drop off my one repair item, then. I assumed they would be interested in getting my input. 2 weeks later, today, I get a very snooty email ending with this paragraph: "Thank you for considering us to work for you, but it would be best for you to find another place who can accommodate what you need." And then they cancelled my appointment after all this time. Wow. Extremely unprofessional and rude. read more

My BHLDN dress needed a lot of taking in so in the end it took three fittings plus the consultation to get the dress ready. Her shop is clean and elegant, and Fyn herself is so kind and lovely. Fine did an absolutely fabulous job altering my wedding dress. I wanted to add an illusion top to my strapless dress and I couldn't find anyone with the expertise to do it anywhere I went. Just when I was about to start panicking I was referred to Fine. It turns out you need a designer to make that kind of change. I loved the final look! All my guests loved the dress as a whole but most of the comments were about how flattering the illusion top was on me. I happened to have a lot of friends who sew that attended the wedding and they were really impressed with it. Totally worth it and a reasonable price, within the timeframe I needed it. I went to Fine for my first wedding dress alterations appointment and she noticed two stains on my BHLDN dress right away. She was reassuring and helped me problem-solve. She referred me to a dry cleaner and encouraged me to call the BHLDN customer service line. I appreciated she tried to be so helpful even though it wasn't her problem. When I learned my dress would arrive just a few weeks before my wedding, she offered to do a rush job. Fyn came to my rescue and helped me tremendously! I bought my wedding dress in a shop in Portland and had the seamstress there alter my dress. When she was done altering my dress, it didn't look very good and I did not feel my best in it. The seamstress refused to help me fix the dress again. We were two weeks away from my wedding day and panicking on what to do. We called Fyn and she swooped in to help. She opened up her shop to me on a day she wasn't even planning to work and re-did all of the alterations (bustle, inserting cups, etc). She completed this all quickly and professionally (24 hours). I was SO happy when I put on the dress. It fit me perfectly and I got so many compliments on my wedding day from people saying "the dress was made for me". Top notch business. They added some zippers to a jacket of mine. It's a men's jacket that I love, but was a bit tight on my hips. I bought two zippers that they attached right on the seam like I asked. Other places didn't even want to touch it. I could have paid someone else the same price, but not when a person is so rude.
