I visited this pizzeria based on a local recommendation, as I was craving my home town pizza (Chicago) and I heard this place was a close match. The overall service was excellent. The restaurant has a warm, family-friendly atmosphere, and the staff was both welcoming and efficient. The fast service added to the cozy, homey vibe of the place. As for the food, my pizza arrived with a perfect golden crust and looked delicious. I ordered a 10" veggie pizza with beef added, and it was satisfying. While I thoroughly enjoyed the pizza, I did feel that the crust could benefit from a bit more seasoning. Aside from the olives, the flavor was somewhat understated. Overall, it was a good experience, and I look forward to coming back Side note: I don't know what's going on with the packaging. The restaurant is pretty spacious, lots of tables, casual pizzeria vibes. The service was okay, they must have forgotten we were seated because it took almost 10 min for the waitress to take our drink order. - House special pizza (3/5): The pizza was just okay in my opinion. We got the house special thinking it would be one of the best pizzas, but there was too much going on, and so many toppings that each slice would just fall apart. The pizza dough/crust did not have the best flavor, kind of bland and soggy with all the toppings. Next time will try something more simple. - Gyro (4.5/5): This was delicious! I came to COMO to visit some friends of mine and they recommended this family owned pizza joint for lunch and the pizza was really good! Did a takeout order and we got a cheese pizza, a sausage and pepperoni pizza and the G&D Special which has had sausage, green peppers and onions. The pizza wasn't to thin or to thick. Amaaaazin! We had to come to Columbia Mo. from Columbia SC because of a family emergency here. Party of 4 of us.. To start we had the pita, olives and Kalimantan olives, good, good! One had a gyro, looked great and he said it was really good. I had a gyro salad, mmm mmmm! So delicious! One had chicken strips and fries., everything was hot and tasty! Pizzas are so, so good! This is the best pizza I've had since moving to missouri 3 years ago. I live about 90 miles away, and I'll go to Columbia for the sole purpose of getting the pizza here. The crust is delicious, the sauce is sweet and savory, the toppings are fresh, and the cheese is gooey and plentiful. I typically get the house special with extra cheese since I'm a glutton, and my wife will get pepperoni and olive with light sauce and cheese (she likes her flavors subtle). We dined in once (we usually get the pizza to go), and the staff was friendly and helpful. The wait was short, and the servers were really nice. We got our meal (delicious and cheap lunch specials), and our to go order was ready when we wanted to leave. I highly recommend this establishment. read more

What a cute family owned restaurant. We arrived at peak lunch time. I was surprised to see a salad bar which had a line of folks enjoying the fresh selection of fresh veggies and salad. We ordered pizza and cheese bread.. The bread cheese bread was great. And the sauce even better. When the pizza arrived it was cut party style in squares. I love pizza cut this way. The cheese on the pizza was cooked until bubbly browned and the pizza was really hot when it arrived so it must have come from the oven straight to the table. I think this place thrives on the merits of having a few good dishes that loyal patrons really love and come back for. I've been coming here for decades. My nostalgia has blinded me to the reality of the situation which is that 2 stars is a generous rating. It's so nasty in there. The dining room is crowded and dirty. The bathrooms are a nightmare. They raised prices in the last year. I also think they overcharged me. Somehow a large cheese pizza (~$15) and a gyro with a single trip to the salad bar ($~16) was $45 before tip. Their salad bar is garbage. Two of the guys making pizza were literally eating while they were prepping dough. Half-eaten pizza slice in one hand, raw dough in the other. We could see them through the window. I think G&D's really rests on the laurels of having been a "local favorite" for years, because there seems to be zero effort anymore. I've been to G & D's several times and generally enjoy their food. We walked into the restaurant and two greeters were at the door. They were busy chatting and didn't notice us walk in. Their boss had to inform them. We were shown to a table and then approached by the waitress. Every other table was out of service to respect the distancing guidelines. The waitress took our pizza order, and then we waited ... and waited ... and waited. It took over a half an hour to get our pizza order. I realize they were doing a brisk take out business, but scheduling could have been better. The pizza is interesting and different from the American versions. If you have never tried Greek style pizza it worth checking out. We ordered the House special minus the onions. There's little to no sauce and the toppings are not evenly distributed. My husband got one olive and I got tons. A few pieces of bacon and pepperoni here and there. I prefer a robust sauce and that was missing from this pizza. Also the ground beef is just that loose meat spread over the crust and cheese on the toppings. It's different and took some time to get used to it. Not my favorite style. Bland for the most part like it was missing something! It was!! It was missing sauce. Probably won't be back for pizza but might try a steak or something. We were there in the early afternoon so the place was quiet and service was good. Nothing to rave about here. Best pizza in Como! Always hot, fresh, delicious, and high quality. Our go to is pepperoni pizza, but their gyros are really good too!
