An absolutely disappointing wait. We ordered two breakfast sandwiches and two coffees to go, maybe 4 orders ahead of us. We ended up waiting 40 minutes for our order, which in our minds isn't acceptable for a major chain. I will give credit that things are different in the time of COVID, but at least customers need to be warned if the kitchen can't handle 5 people in queue. I noticed at least two people come back with their orders to the kitchen because they had the wrong sandwich or a topping was missing. By the time we did receive our sandwiches they were cold. I hope the kitchen team can find some order and hustle, they certainly struck us as disorganized and unmotivated. Easily the worst Panera experience we've had (and we've been to a lot of them). read more

I've been here 4 or 5 times in the past week and every time I had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. I tried their BBQ chicken sandwich, breakfast chipotle wrap, and a few other meals on their list, and I have not been disappointed yet! One day in particular I was planning to go pick up my meal, but I ran into some car difficulty. I called and told them about the situation, and they made me a new hot meal and delivered it to me without any extra charge. I love that it is located right outside of Target and inside the mall, and part of the reason I've been eating there so frequently is because of how convenient it's location is. During busy hours, expect to wait 10 or 15 minutes for your food. But besides that, this is a great place to just hang out and relax! read more

This isn't my first visit to Panera, but yesterday I joined a friend here for lunch. When I got there, the restaurant was clean and well kept. The staff was very friendly and polite. I ordered from the "pick two" menu and went with Broccoli Cheddar Soup and The Italian Sandwich. They gave me a buzzer and I fixed my drink and had a seat to wait for my friend. I expected the buzzer to go off, but a staff member brought my food to the table about three minutes, which was nice. The soup was good, but it was luke warm, which is always disappointing, especially on a cold and rainy day. The Italian sandwich was well made and satisfying. I also got chips, and they were fine. All in all, this was an A-OK lunch. If my soup had been warm, I would have given a 4 star review. I am sure I will be back to Panera. read more

I just received the absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced in my entire life. It was so bad I do not have words and don't even know what to say. It was about 20 minutes before closing. The individual who took my order was so rude and so angry. They were having a meltdown because I was placing an order. It was borderline rage. I felt like they were about to get violent. It was a really horrible experience. As I walked out I turned around and they were making an obscene gesture towards me. I have always loved Panera, but I never want to step foot in that place again. It was really, really bad. Several weeks ago I stopped by and picked up some bagels and a tub of cream cheese. Easy. I saw the cashier reading the side of the tub, pause, and then place it in my bag. Then another girl asked her "Did you already give her the cream cheese?" That made me wonder. After I paid for my food I left and checked the side of the tub myself, and I saw that the cream cheese had expired a full WEEK before they passed it onto me. It was so old that it was watery and sloshing around in the tub. I went back and asked for a manager, and I told her that not only was my food expired, but I saw the cashier read it and knowingly give me expired food. The manager was completely unfazed and just replaced my cream cheese. It turns out they were out of the cream cheese I wanted so she gave me several mini packs, which makes me even angrier. The first cashier obviously saw that they were out of cream cheese and wasn't mature enough to just tell me the truth, so instead she gave me expired food. And another cashier watched her do it and didn't care. I didn't want to post this before now because I was just so pissed, and I wanted my review to be fair and not vindictive. But KNOWINGLY giving a customer expired food (especially a dairy product) is honestly unforgivable. It could have made someone sick. People who work with food have to take a food safety class and are supposed to know how to not get people sick, so that cavalier attitude towards a customer's health is stupid and dangerous. I've been to this Panera location a couple of times while visiting my mom in Columbia. It is located inside the Columbia Mall on the north side by the Target. There is an outdoor entrance directly into the restaurant which is convenient if you are only eating and not shopping. The configuration of the store is slightly different than the usual Panera, but it was not confusing. The service was quick, the food was exactly as ordered and the usual Panera quality was there. This is a quick, relatively inexpensive option for lunch. read more

I went to this location yesterday. I was in town visiting my niece at Mizzou and we had to go to Target to pick up some things. This location is located in the Columbia Mall. We went in around 8:30 p.m. This is about 30 minutes before closing. I know it was late....but still this place was the most disgusting Panera that I have ever been in. The guy that was working the register (Terry) was disheveled (long greasy hair, long beard and not wearing anything that identified him as a Panera employee). He was gruff with us stating "he had a rough day". Okay, that is fine but don't take it out on me. We ordered and wanted to add a cookie on to the order and he acted totally put out by this. We went to our table and I could not believe how dirty the restaurant was. There was trash strewn on the floors (bread crumbs, parts of sandwiches, cups and crumbs on the table). The trash cans were overflowing with trash and dishes were piled sky high. The chair covers that are on the back of the chairs were heavily soiled (black) at the tops. The apple that they gave me with my meal had a large bruised area on it. I have never been so grossed out in my life. It was obvious that they take no care at this location to clean as they go. Panera locations in general are usually very tidy but this place was very obviously being mismanaged by the guy who was there that day. There were plenty of employees, four including the guy who waited on us. People were still coming in after we ordered and one stood at the counter for several minutes before leaving without ordering and another was told they were closed when it wasn't closing time. All she wanted was a bagel and they had plenty of those. I would never go back to this location and if I could would not even rate them with one star. The Panera Corporate office is only about 5 minutes from my house and I am tempted to write them a letter. That is how bad this location is. Please do not eat here!!! There are plenty of other Panera locations that I have been to that are better and plenty of other restaurants the Columbia area. read more

Clueless employees!!! Made an order to go... my daughter right away spotted that chips are missing... they gave us the chips. As soon we got home we figured out the bagels weren't in the bag. We drove all the way back to get a very lousy apology from the manager and a bag with our bagels... The whole place smelled like cigarettes- one of the employees was smoking right outside the door. I like this Panera. It's funny, because it has outdoor seating in the mall. And I think that's funny. I sit there all the time, but it's still funny. It's a great place to pick up wifi in the mall, and if you don't want to sit in the foodcourt it's really your only option. The food is good - Panera is always the same, but that's kind of nice. You can enter from inside the mall or from an outside entrance. Parking near Target is always hard, though. And it can get really crowded. read more

Just visited again, and it remains one of the places to meet folks when you are at the mall. They had French Toast bagels, and Pumpkin bagels that were yummy. They can also "bread" slice the bagels if you want, which leaves you very thin slices more like bagel chips. read more

If you'd like your food the way you ordered it, I'd suggest you give yourself extra time to go through your to-go bag before you leave the restaurant. Keeps going downhill. Needs to be remodeled instead of reconfigured. Not only has the menu changed to "clean" food but the prices have gone way up. Way too much for a bus your own table joint. For instance, now one picks up their iced coffee in the front of the business and has to go all the way to the line in the back of the store by beverages to get ice for it. Another issue: Half salad was truly less than half and it looked quite wilted. Hope this is not what sometimes happens to many one-time popular and really good restaurants. Fantastic place to eat and just sit back and enjoy the crowd. The staff and management are great. They are very accommodating. There is a wide range of soups and sandwiches to meet the needs of the pickiest of eaters. I must add that my dogs both love a plain bagel on a cold night. read more
