Let me first say I'm so glad I saw this place today! Amazing people and amazing customer service. The food was sooo good! Let me tell you I will be back. The banana pudding was like someone's grandma made it had me feeling like I just left church service in the south and was going to get my after church plate. The ribs are flavorful and good size. I got double Mac and cheese with my ribs and I'm glad I did. Go try it out. Good people and good food it's a win win. read more

While out searching for some barbecue, I came across this business, let me tell you... OMG!!! The food was absolutely off the hook!! The owner was so cool and laid-back cracking jokes with us, the service was spectacular, the wife was making the food and the son was serving. I love small businesses like this where they work together and produce an amazing quality of food. It is worth every penny to give this mobile restaurant a try. The food is spectacular and fresh. I've had the rib tips, wings, half smokes, greens, pasta salad, baked beans and the banana pudding, and everything was incredibly good! Ive learned that you really do have to get there early because they sell out of almost everything before the end of the day. I highly recommend them!!!! read more

Grilled chicken was juicy, crisp, and smoked to perfection. No worries with the plastic ware since the meat fell off the bone. I got collard greens and mac and cheese for my two sides. Both were delicious, home cooked style. Mac and cheese was creamy and the collards will simply make you a happier person. I can't wait to go back and try their smoked turkey, bratwurst, jerk chicken, etc. Do yourself a favor and come hungry. It was more food in the platter for the same price as chipotle read more

I stopped by today in the pouring rain to try them for first time. I tried at other times but got their too late due to them selling out. The pulled pork is BANGING!! I've tried a number of BBQ food trucks and there is no comparison. My wife tried the smoked chicken and the greens...both also were excellent. We will be going back and since they're in Woodbridge, we'll be there often. read more

Okay, Lake Ridge, we finally have a legit BBQ joint. I'm originally from Mississippi, and I've been to Memphis countless times, so I'm picky about BBQ. This place is great. The sauce is a sloppy, sweet mess, and the cuts of meat are cooked to perfection. The sides we had (baked beans and mac 'n cheese) were excellent. I've been on a quest since moving to VA to find good BBQ, and most places leave me disappointed. Prior to finding G&F, the best place I found was McCoy's BBQ, another food truck in Fredericksburg. I'll need to take a few more trips to determine which of the two takes my top spot, but it's going to be a close battle. When to visit: We got there at 11:30 a.m. on a Saturday, so we had to wait until the first round of grilling was done to get our food. By the time it came off the grill at 12:00 a small crowd had already lined up. We ate in the back of our wagon with the rear gate up, and by the time we had finished eating and wiping ourselves off, the crowd had doubled, maybe tripled in size. I say go at 11:30. I'd also guess if you mosey in at 2:30 p.m., you'll be greeted by an empty parking lot because the BBQ will be gone. Better hurry, reader; get off your couch and get there before it's too late!! read more

Awesome food truck. I'm a fan of their burnt tips. I know that's not everyone's cup of tea, however if you like gristle and cartilage, then you'll like these. Mac and cheese is always on point. When they have banana pudding, you better get it or by the time you come back, it will be sold out. Kids love the turkey leg and of course the pulled pork. Parking is a bit of a hassle, but that's what we get for a food truck. read more

Saturday morning I came here at 9:45am thinking they served BBQ for breakfast. Apparently this kind of food is only for lunch and dinner, whoops... Came back 11am when it opened and ordered myself Rib and Chicken Dinner with Mac & Cheese and Baked Beans (20 dollars in total). Everything was pretty good but I wish the cheese in the Mac and Cheese was a bit thicker. Do recommend and will be coming again. read more

If you want great tasting Barbeque , the G&F Barbeque is your go to. They provided us with succulent ribs and chicken for a birthday celebration for our son's milestone 16th. When you have teens asking for seconds and wanting to take food home, you know the food is good. The sides of collard greens, baked beans and corn on the cob, was bursting with true flavors that allowed each person the know that the sides were fresh and frozen. My overall experience was excellent. I've been searching for a BBQ spot with an authentic feel, and this one truly delivered. The collard greens were perfectly prepared, just the way they should be, and the mac and cheese easily earns a spot in my top five. The exterior has the same structure with plenty of parking lot but the rear of the restaurant has made it into a friendly outdoor sport arena. The interior was gutted out and transformed. Some areas of the restaurant are still split into sections and separate from the restaurant. Three items were ordered: 1) Smashed burger with potato wedges 2) Pulled Pork Sandwich with fries 3) Peach Cobbler. The burger was tender and delicious but the potato wedges were interesting. They were basically a whole baked potato which were cut into four pieces lengthwise. They were bland and not crispy. When their pulled pork sandwich arrived to the table, it was bland as well. When asked where is the sauce and cole slaw, server Destiny stated that it doesn't come with any sauce or slaw even though the menu clearly shows it. I didn't argued and just continue to eat quietly. I was excited about their peach cobbler but unfortunately it fell flat for me. It tastes like they scooped out bread pudding, topped with canned peaches and pressed down in the mold ring. It too was bland and dry. There wasn't any sauce or moisture to this dessert. I really wanted for these items to soar with flying colors. The server Destiny and staff members was friendly and attentive. The restaurant was clean and wasn't filled with patches or any other military affiliation decorations as noted on the walls according to the website. I will make another future visit to try their bbq items.

They have a small bar area, indoor seating, and a customer restroom that's tucked away in the back. When I stopped in, there were several people dining in, and it had a relaxed, homey atmosphere. Overall, I'd definitely recommend Down Home Cafe, especially if you're looking for a comforting brunch or a laid-back Sunday meal. I'll definitely be back for those chicken and waffles! Oh!
