A neighborhood grill stand, Dave's Dogs can be seen by its American flag, grill fumes and a white truck that sports license plates: 'Dave Dog'. They set up shop weekends at the edge of a parking lot of a pet groomer and financial advisor. Connoisseurs and grill enthusiasts come to line up early - usually 9am. Students, moms, kiddlins, retirees, firemen, landscapers and travelers take a break from the road for snack, drinks and meats. Ordering the 'Frito Bandito' was easy and it came out fast in a white travel box with clasp. It was a signature dog, topped with chili, Frito Lay chips & shredded American cheese. The flavors - although definitely not culinary haute-cuisine, were strong, Smokey, crisp and bold! As soon as it was done I wanted another - their barbeque is like CRACK! This was my second time visiting, and I have to say I really like this place - it's like a little taste of Summer backyard BBQ's in the winter. The owner loves what he does, and you can tell. He greets you with a smile, and knows his customers by name! I went with the $7 combo which comes with a hot dog with toppings of choice, fries, tots, or onion rings, and a drink. Everything is cooked to order and is piping hot. I can tell the cook listens as you are ordering because by the time I was finished paying, he was handing me my order. I can finally cross this food truck off my bucket list. I have been following Dave's Dogs on Facebook for almost a year. His food post were amazing. It's not often I get a chance to drive out to Woodbridge. On this particular day, we were shopping around the area. We drove through the corner of Prince William Pkwy and Minnieville Rd. Despite the pouring rain, we spotted the truck right on the corner. I was so excited to finally try this food truck. We both selected the hotdog combo($6). Dave's dogs are all beef and with the combo you can select any items on the condiment list. I chose nacho cheese and chili. I also had to select either fries,'tots or onion rings and a full can of soda. This was an amazing price. The food came out quickly and was piping hot. The portion was hefty. The hotdog bun was warm and soft and the condiments sat right on the bum without a messy overflow. Dave has lots of options: hotdogs of every variety, half smokes, corn dogs, fish, shrimp and fried Oreos! I will certainly come back. I highly recommend giving Dave's dog a try. He has a large donation jar on the counter. It's not a tip jar but it's a donation jar that he donates to Prince William Animal Shelter. read more

WOODBRIDGE, VA. - This is a hot dog take-out joint in a small trailer in a parking lot across the street from a Sunoco station. But going in knowing that, you're gonna be glad you try Dave's. Wife and I hit it on a Saturday, 1230 pm. Small line, moved quick. Parking: ample. Staff: friendly and quick and kinda charming. Food : solid. Wife got the combo of a Frito Bandito dog with chili, cheese, corn chips (she had the jalapeños held). Combo came with a side (we got the onion rings) and a drink (can of Brisk iced tea from a cooler). Good dog. Chili was decent, place was not chintzy with the toppings. Onion rings had a nice crisp crunch. $7 I got an Italian sausage ($6) with grilled onions and peppers and a half smoke ($6) with mustard. Niiiice slight charring on the Italian, giving it a slight crunch, and nice slight spiciness of the half smoke. Really filling, $21, and better and cheaper than what you'd get at someplace like Ben's Chili Bowl. Would we make the 30-min drive just for Dave's? Nah. This is an excellent food truck (trailer). Hot dogs with all the normal toppings and several "gourmet" variations like a Memphis Dog topped with pork BBQ, PoBoy topped with popcorn shrimp, and a Rueben dog to name a few. All food is made to order, no heat lamps in this trailer! Dave is very personable and loves to talk to his customers, so you may have to wait in line a bit, but it is definitely worth the wait. Inexpensive too. Typically two hod dog combos with sides and drinks come in under $15. I've never had the fries, but the tots come in an overly large portion. Try them with Old Bay. You won't go hungry. The onion rings are outstanding. There's always some special going on, like deep fried "oreos" or something similar. Lastly, look for the "not tips" jar, where all proceeds go to help get dogs and cats adopted from the Prince William County animal shelter. read more

I crave hotdogs!!! It's one of my favorite foods all time. Dave's satisfies that craving EVERY TIME! I've been a customer for years and I can't believe I'm just now writing a review (my bad, Dave lol). Dave has a ton of customers and I see why. He's very personable and takes the time to appreciate us. Now, the dogs: as a fan, I have go-to favorites. I always get 2 dogs, chili, mustard, onions, 1 with kraut the other with coleslaw. They always come freshly prepared with the proper toppings. AND HE HAS TOTS!!!! I LOVE tater tots and Dave's has them made-to-order with various toppings/seasonings. The Old Bay are the best. Eventually, I'll come out my comfort zone and try his pulled pork which looks awesome. My first 4 stars are for customer service and food! The 5th star is for Dave's mission. The Morningstar veggie dog is just OK, totally something I could have made myself at home for less money. I wish they would used a better dog or brat to really make it shine (Beyond Meat, anyone?) HIP HIP HOORAY FOR DAVE'S DOGS! I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE small and local businesses like this one, and I'm so glad I was finally able to try Dave's Dogs out! This little red truck has been serving up delicious hot dogs to the Woodbridge area since '14. I ordered the following: the Frito Bandito (topped with chili, cheese, jalapeno slices, and Fritos - loved the combo of toppings and it was generously and perfectly-topped!); the Memphis Dog (topped with pulled pork BBQ and coleslaw (the latter being optional, but who can pass up on the coleslaw?!); the pork was flavorful, and a little cup of Sweet Baby Ray's bbq sauce is also given to sauce it up); and, a Poor Boy (topped with coleslaw, popcorn shrimp, and tartar sauce, this dog was also pretty tasty, and the little crispy popcorn shrimp were fried beautifully). For dessert, I tried their made-to-order Cinnamon Churro (loved the cinnamon sugar coating on the stick) and 3 orders of the Deep Fried Oreos (loved the funnel-cake-like batter on these bad boys, with a light sprinkling of powdered sugar - these were decadent and definitely satisfied a chocolate/Oreo craving!). Mr. Dave was super friendly, and made sure that each of the dogs came exactly as you wanted it in terms of what toppings! :D This place is just SUPER ADORABLE, and I can't wait to come back and try out their other items, such as the Spicy Italian Sausage and the Deep Fried Moon Pie (!)! Always a good lunch with Dave! His menu is great with a few twists on the regular dog. We like checking out his specials board as well since there's always something unique. Our favorites are the Frito Bandito and the Memphis Dog. Service: Interacting with Dave while the meal is prepared is always a treat. He's friendly, has a great mission, and you feel good supporting his small business! My youngest kiddo was so tickled for an added bonus of fruit snacks the last time we visited and chatted about our pups, both Lucys. Our first visit and we loved it! Super friendly and fun couple putting lots of love into our tasty munchies! We enjoyed our interaction with them as much as we did the food. They fawned over our little dog Miley and even offered her a complimentary hotdog which we had to decline, but such a sweet offer. They did not hesitate to accommodate my request for some fully loaded tots with pulled pork, chili, two kinds of cheese, onions and jalapeños...teased me a little bit but that was part of the appeal. We Stan Dave's Dogs lol. Everything here is absolutely delicious. My grandmother makes us find them for the sausage. I love the chili cheese dogs and fried moon pies. The price is super reasonable. I got 2 moon pies, a fried Oreo, 2 chili cheese dogs, and a plain hot dog for $11. They always have great specials available. The guy that runs the stand is extremely friendly, and remembers his customers. My husband and I stopped at a local diner (Joe's American Diner) and ordered some lunch. He ordered breakfast and was satisfied with the average food. I ordered a burger and it was terrible. I sent it back twice to be fixed and decided to give up. I took one bite and left it on the table. $10 wasted. We were leaving the restaurant and thinking about where to stop for food on the way back to our hotel since I didn't eat, and while walking to our car I saw Dave's food truck. He was kind, provided personable service, and a great pulled pork sandwich for a very reasonable price. Honestly, the best meal I've had so far in Virginia.
