G&J put a French drain in my home less than two years ago. First off the workmanship was shoddy. The interior discharge pipe is just hanging out of the wall with the cement patch job on the interior side of the hole going to the outside being the only thing holding it in place. The cement patch work, interior and exterior, looks like it was done by a two year old. The "kids" who actually did the work were a couple of non-English speakers and someone who looked to be younger than my grandson. Less than two years later there are large cracks in the exterior discharge pipe. This causes the water that collects in the sump pit to just swirl around and go nowhere. This happens to coincide with a period of recurring rain, often heavy, over the past week. Of course the problem happened over the weekend. I emailed them about the problem on Sunday. To their credit, they did reply to the email. On Tuesday they emailed that someone would come between 10-2 PM the forthcoming Friday. In the meantime my wife and I spent the week (including in the middle of the night) bailing water out of the sump pit. Friday comes and I have to take the day off from work to be here when they come. But guess what? Nobody from G&J showed up and nobody from G&J even called. Instead they emailed me at 1:30 in the afternoon to say that most of their crews had called off because of a big storm the previous night (storm???). I blame myself for hiring these people in the first place. Don't make the same mistake. Stay away from G&J Waterproofing. read more

G&J waterproofing is working on a second property for us now. At no point did I ever feel like Harry or Katie were dishonest. The work their company did solved our water problem and yes sometimes its hard to get guys and sometimes they have multiple projects going on and they are not exactly sure when they will be there but at the end of the week the job is done correctly and at a reasonable price. They try their best and they communicate when you send them a email. So if you have to throw away a bag of cement left behind , well big deal just throw it away. For the price its a good value and it definately solved our water problem just be a little patient and understanding. read more

I purchased a home last year with the understanding that the basement was recently waterproofed and guaranteed by G&J Waterproofing. As soon as we moved in, we reported water collecting at the base of a wall. The previous owners have said they also reported the same issue. A year later we have had: - over a dozen no show appointments, no explanations or apologies, and lots of empty promises - countless appointment delays allegedly "waiting for membrane delivery" when it turned out we don't even have that type of system installed, and never needed the "membrane" we were delayed for - and never had any repairs that involved those materials. - about half the time or more, no one returns call and emails - they always say they are sending a "foreman" out to take care of the problem, they never do - a motley crew of random guys are all we have seen. - several weak attempts to fix the problem (one time sending 2 kids with a silicone gun and another time sending a disgruntled employee with a quick set cement kit - this guy even said he "wouldn't piss on the owner if he were on fire") - attempts by the owner to blame everything from rodents to old pipes as the problem - before even inspecting! We have had both pest control and plumbers inspect the building and verify that these two suggestions are not valid. Continuously acting like he is doing us a favor by giving us an appointment. And oh my god the empty reasons why it was not a warranty item - theories which he always reneged each time the problem was assessed. - after finally scheduling a day to "dig up the exterior yard" and pour gravel in the area, no one showed up and when I called I was told I would have to sign a consent for the work first (why didn't anyone ask me to do that in the first place?) - in case the Borough stopped by and questioned the workers. WTF? Ok, so I signed a bogus consent, they still didn't show up at the next scheduled appointment - and when they finally did - one guy came - dug up no exterior yard - only jack hammered cement floor in basement and poured quickset in its place. - a heap of giant chunks of cement and debris left behind that we have no way of moving or disposing of - from the time they actually showed up a year later and worked on the problem, unsuccessfully - to date, a year from the initial call, we continue to have water penetrate the waterproofing system in this same spot The owner (?) Harry is a shyster - he talks and talks and talks and has no idea what he is talking about - He is a delay tactic. I have been nothing but polite and accommodating, hoping that in the end they will deliver on their guarantee. I cannot believe anyone would meet this guy and entrust him with the amount of money that is required to invest in these systems. I am very sorry to have inherited this system and I have no faith that this company has any intention of standing by their product or warranty "guarantee". The price that I paid for in the purchase of this home included the value of a waterproofed basement. We got screwed. I have over 50 emails (plus lots of texts) over the last year discussing this one problem and documenting the no shows, the bs service calls, and half ass repair attempts. We are now considering our next steps as our latest calls and emails have gone unreturned, just sent another email tonight. A very unfortunate situation. This company had not been reliable. Take your chances with someone else. 11/27/2018 - "KATIE R." SPEND MORE TIME RETURNING CUSTOMER CALLS THAN REPLYING TO YELP REVIEWS. As of the ridiculously inaccurate company comment below about the details of this problem and indicating they "planned" to come back out, no one has called, emailed, or attempted in any way to schedule a repair. My last call a month ago to "Wes" stated he had already gave all of the information and photos to the office after his last visit over TWO months ago on 09/10/2018 and had no information about when a follow up would occur. I don't normally write reviews but I am so disappointed that I decided to review G&J on the work they did to our basement July/August 2016. The only positive thing I can say is that the basement has yet to leak. However, with that being said, If you're looking for cheap service all around- cheap labor and cheap results with poor professionalism, you've found your company. They were very rarely on time. We were told several times they were on their way or 30 minutes out and showed up two hours later. Or that they would be at our house at 10am and show up at 1pm or later. The job still remains incomplete after 1.5 months. The new flooring we paid for is a mess and multiple people who have visited, have asked, "you paid for this?". Initially after the flooring was finished we were informed that a large space (1/2 inch roughly) wouldn't be there as it settled. After a few days the space remained and I contacted the company and was told that there must have been some miscommunication because my husband was told they were returning to place quarter round over the trim. After several cancellations by G&J and a no-show, the quarter round was finally done and poorly at that. There's several empty corners with out quarter round and multiple protruding nails. I made a long list for Harry regarding the issues; broken/'leaking pipes damaged by workers, flooring that appeared elevated, the closet door scratches new flooring that wasn't that way before, new flooring around sump pump that was layed in opposited orientation of other flooring, dried glue on new flooring.. when the worker showed up he said these issues were not communicated to him and he didn't have the tools to sand the door or remove the flooring around the sump pump and lay it the correct way. So it remains that way until we do the work ourselves. The contract work was suppose to be July 26-August 5. August 31st was the last G&J were at the house. And a company that pays for positive reviews (we were offered gift cards for a positive review to Angie's List) is a dishonest one considering the work should speak for itself read more

Avoid this company like the plague. The do not do what they promise to do. Promise to spray for mold before, when finished, and 6-weeks later----didn't. Promise to test before the leaving...didn't. First rain storm, leaking joint on a pvc pipe they installed. Don't come out to fix it when they say they would (repeatedly). Finally arrive, instead of taking apart and re-gluing the leaky joint, they put some caulking around it.....still leaks. Don't return phone calls. Tell you they'll come out but don't........round and round and round. Now have to hire another company to come out and fix there substandard work. read more

I was recently a subcontractor through G&J. I personally witnessed harry upselling jobs that did not need to be done as well as received instruction from him to cut corners on jobs so that they would "complete" faster. I highly discourage accepting any quotes or work from this company as we are currently in legal litigation over 3 seperate jobs that i have not been paid for. If you check angies list under G&J you will see all positive reviews for MY work completed. Harry wynkoop is refusing to pay me or my crew for 3 seperate subcontracted jobs and offered me a total of $250 pay for all of the work. read more

Harry is the worst contractor you could find. His work is awful. He doesn't show up when he says he will. His crew has no idea what they are doing. Harry and his sister Katie are con artists. He came and gave us a price to fix our basement leak. Then he came back a few weeks later saying he needed to do some demo work. His sister Katie was laying down in the car outside. He tore off a small section of paneling and found mold which he knew about already. He said he couldn't do the job for the first price he gave us and proceeded to write up a new contract that was more than the first one. He said we had to pay both of the contracts which was $4100 for the first one plus another one for $4800. He refused to give me my deposit of $2100 back. He called Katie like she was back at the office. She came walking in and handed Harry the new contract. So I had no choice but to accept his con job. It took him over 3 months to do a six day job and he never did finish the job. I had to hire another contractor to finish the job. Harry is a shyster who will rob you blind and never complete the job. Stay away from him. I wish I had never seen him on Angie's List. read more

well i really hated coming back here to do another review but they made me do it,,,,harry heard about me being ripped off by another contractor and that i have ms .. He contacted the media to let them know to get me his info. he showed up the same night the news report came on he brought his crew out a week later and started the work . i had two news crews here to report due to the fact that g$j was doing the work for free... well 3 months later,several phone calls and emails. and katy s promise of a check ...i still cant get in my driveway due to the large pile of dirt they never came back to clean up and they never backfilled the wall, which would have used up most of the dirt... so all in all the good guy i thought was doing this work to be kind and pay forward did this just for the free advertisement and to get his name on the news as an honest company....as i write this i am still unable to get into my driveway....my neighbors are not to happy about that as i am furious guess.... his aunt is supposed to have ms also bet he doesnt make her walk around a dirt pile to get into her house..DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY read more
