I recently had work done on my property by Clearview Tree and Land. Nemias, a representative came to my house to submit a bid to prune a Crepe Myrtle tree and prune a rose bush. . The bid for the tree was in line but the bid for the rose bush was too high so we negotiated a fair price. Nemias seemed to know how to prune a rose bush. It takes time and patience. Cutting it wrong can and most likely will kill the plant. The rose bush in question at my house produces a huge amount of deep red roses each year so I am very particular of its pruning. He assured me his people knew how to do it. When the day came they did an excellent job on cutting the crepe. However they used a "Hedge Trimmer", that's right a "Hedge Trimmer" to cut the rose bush, which took all of "2 minutes". It was obvious they had no idea how to trim the plant. For the $60 they charged I could have gone into my garage and mutilated the plant with my own hedge trimmer. The site manager Oscar, assured me his man knew what he was doing. He didn't. They didn't. When it comes to trimming trees, I am sure they are excellent. DO NOT, however, let them touch anything that requires "real knowledge" of horticulture. You will be greatly disappointed. read more

They took care of the fallen tree right after Tropical Storm Isaiah at a very reasonable price, and they were supposed to come back to trim another tree which was not healthy. But they never showed up again even after we called them several times. Apparently, they don't care for non-urgent, cheap jobs at all! It was easy and quick to set up the consultation - their manager came over withing a day or two. the quote for removal of one tall pine tree in our backyard was fair and reasonable. we scheduled the removal for the next day and their team of 4 showed up as planned. They took care to cover and protect our new hardwood floors and also covered some of the walls where they had to pass through. They worked quickly to trim and take down the tree and take the branches and stump out, carrying them through our house and out the door bit by bit. After I read lots of good reviews, I thought it was a pretty legit business. But this is what happen to the service we had... They were lots of complications on the service they gave. I made appointment with them in 2 separate days, but they still come on their own time without a heads up. So we never met before the service. Since we never met for estimation, on the job day, we were having issues in what was promised to be done. There was no written agreement initially, so it became What she said and what he said. Since I ordered lots of outdoor furniture to come next day it was too late for me to find someone else. I feel totally fooled by giving me a low price but do half of the job of what they was promised. I don't know if that's the way how they get there business or a pure misunderstanding... Orlando came out to give us the estimate last week - he was pleasant and professional. Orlando explained the whole process. Today, the Clearview Team came out to Brooklyn to cut down a dying 30-foot Blue Spruce. The team worked well together and had a great spirit - like they actually liked their job. One man used the chainsaw to cut the tree, while the other men loaded the cut pieces into the woodchipper. Then they grinded the tree stump. When the job was done, they cleaned up well and blew any debris from my neighbors cars. They left the area very clean so my neighbors wouldn't be upset. I am delighted with their work (and I am kind of picky). This is a very professional group and we would them again if I had another tree that needed to be cut down. The crew came promptly and removed a tree that was missing roots because of excavation next door. Neither of the houses or fences were damaged. However they broke one of my hydrangeas and decimated a rare Hosta. They also bent a stand and threw the pieces into the bushes. When I called to complain about that and the mess left behind, all I got was the office person. When they came to pick up the large trunk pieces, the driver attempted to clean up a bit more (my husband already cleaned up most) and took away the broken hydrangea branches. There was NOT even an apology from the owner for the mess or broken plants or any attempt to compensate. Would never recommend them to use them again. read more

I don't typically post reviews but I am so pleased with the service from Clearview! I received my first quote from Clearview for removal of a large pine tree in my backyard in Brooklyn. In order to remove the tree, it was necessary to go in my apartment and out the building. After receiving their estimate, I got two other quotes and both places told me there was no way they could beat Clearview's prices. I signed the contract on Thursday evening and Friday morning I was called to schedule removal for Monday morning. I was told the whole process could take a 3-4 hours. These guys came 30 min early and were finished in 2 hours! They were quick, efficient, clean and they even helped cut down branches of some neighboring trees that were touching electrical/telephone cables. I had concerns about a huge oak tree in my yard that was dropping dead limbs. I was given a prompt appointment & was provided with an assessment of the trees health with recommendations to prune it for storm readiness. This would involve climbing & trimming the tree. I believed the proposal was fair & set an appointment. The crew showed up early & went right to work. They did not stop until everything was done to my satisfaction! They cleaned up a few weeds & vines that were over grown as a courtesy & cleaned up after themselves. There were a bunch of menacing-looking dead branches in a huge tree in my back yard in Park Slope. One day, a big one crashed through the trees and smashed a lawn chair; someone could have been seriously hurt. So, I called Clearview Tree Service on Monday morning. Estimator arrived Monday afternoon. Crew arrived Tuesday at 11am. Six guys came, climbed the tree, chopped out the dead branches, ground them up, and took them away. PROBLEM SOLVED. Was it pricey? Well, it wasn't cheap, but who else is going to climb a tree with a chainsaw and spend an hour searching for dead branches and lowering them to the ground? So happy I found these guys!!! 100% satisfaction. I was searching for a tree service to sort out over grown Taxus Yew bushes (now more like trees) for the past 3 months. I quickly learnt that tree / bush work is not to be handled by landscapers unless they are cutting a few branches no higher than 5 foot from the ground. Well Clearview sent a great arborist (someone that has actually studied trees!) by the name of Bob. He spent around 45 minutes explaining what trees I was dealing with, their present condition, the best course of action to take and a plan for the new year. This guy knows his stuff and by the time he leaves - you too will know exactly what is going in your garden. The price was actually in line with the landscapers and way cheaper than some other tree specialists who must have thought I was related to royalty. The day of actual work was scheduled for a week later and what a professional bunch of guys. They carefully climbed the yews listening to their team lead who stood next to me asking exactly what I was looking for as well as guiding me when I was clearly unclear as to what should be done. One hour later and I have a great looking yew wall that is neat and well prepared to fill in over summer and save me thousands of dollars in ripping down, grinding and replacing with new trees. I had a 5 story tree close to my building on Fulton St. This company sent several workers to work on the tree. One climbed and others coordinated with them below. It was really amazing how they can get a very tall tree DOWN! So branch by branch they trimmed the tree. And about 1/2 way done, another group of workers came by for clean up. I met The owner, Oscar, a couple of times. He is so down to earth. He is very nice. His Arboist helped us with the Permit for tree removals for our Village. As soon as we received the permit, he made an appointment for me for the next morning at 8A. The boys were already outside of my house before 7:30A to get to work! I was lucky to have 7 professionals helping me with my mess. They took down 7+ trees, grinded all stumps, cleaned out the excess bush mess, removed most vines on other trees. They were amazing. I plan to work with Oscar again since my home is a pretty big project. We definitely have more trees to deal with. He is a well-rounded guy. Though his landscaper is always MIA. I can barely get him to come here to talk about landscaping and give me an appropriate proposal and estimate. You would think he would put the effort to have me as his customer...i would call him every couple of days! You would think its the other way around. Anyways, I gave us on the guy and been looking for other landscapers. I wanted to work with this landscaper just because i really liked Oscar but its all good...i'll work with him on my other projects. Simply awesome! Found the company on Yelp and picked them based on their outstanding scores. From initial contact they were very professional and promptly scheduled a visit to look at the job and provided an estimate. The amount was reasonable for a job that included pruning of a mulberry tree, removal of a sapling that was growing through our fence and removal of another tree. The team was very efficient and was done within an hour. There was cleanup and disposal of all the debris! I couldn't have been happier and would definitely use them again! I believe this and Brooklyn Tree Service are the same company. Three and a half weeks and still no call from the estimator to schedule a visit. They've known from the beginning that we have branches hanging on electricity lines... still nothing. I've called frequently trying to see if there is an issue, asking for a timeline, trying to schedule something myself, etc. Still nothing. If an estimate can't be scheduled within a reasonable time frame, they can at least communicate this effectively. Yet, during each call all I got from the receptionist was that the estimator's phone number can't be shared, and that he would call to schedule soon. I asked whether soon meant in 1 day, in 3 days, in 5? No answer. Just that he would call soon. Again, if no one is available to schedule a visit or they need more time all they have to do is let potential customers know. read more

I would give this place no star if i could. At first they seemed like a legit buisnesss since we got the estimate for the removal of the two trees in my yard pretty quickly. They came in about 10 mins after we called. The pricing we got was okay too! Too bad we should have read the reviews earlier. We called earlier this week to have an appointment set up for Saturday. They confirmed that we were booked for Saturday but couldn't give us a time that they are coming in until the day before. They told us to expect someone to call us 30 mins before their arrival and to expect them to be there around 9-12. We waited and waited and no call. We called the office and the lady was completely unapologetic and basically told us to wait until 1:30 and that there's nothing she can do at the moment. Jeez that's great costumer care you have there. Finally the guy calls back telling us they were trying to contact us this morning to tell us they couldn't come because it was raining quite hard. However the weather has been good for at least half the time in the 9-12 time slot they gave us. But apparently because the office had given the guys the wrong number and they couldn't contact us, all the guys went home and now we need to reschedule. Now this just doesn't make any sense to me at all. If you called twice and couldn't get through why didn't you call the office to confirm the number or sent an email? They have all of our contact information. On top of that, they've actually called us before we made this appointment to see if we wanted to schedule so i know they have the correct number on file. Why did the office not try to call us back when the guys said they couldn't contact us? You know, it would make no sense for us to not pick up or call back after a missed call when we're the ones trying to get a service completed at our house. On top of that we spent the entire Saturday waiting after having taken off from work. Did they even try putting an effort into contacting us? This place is unprofessional, lack proper costumer care and completely unapologetic of their mistake. They emailed me a copy to reassure me they were properly insured. Initially, they did cancel due to being backed up from the rain the day before. But they rescheduled two days later. I hope my words convey how much appreciation and respect I have for this company. This past week it was very windy and a very tall medium sized tree had fallen down in my backyard. After my father and I chopped the tree up we decided to do the entire backyard and clear all the trees and bushes. We had 6 stumps all together in the backyard after everything was done. Three of the stumps were quite big and the others were all medium/small sized. I called Clearview Tree and Land Corp and told them I had A LOT of branches/logs and stumps that needed to be removed from the backyard. The woman told me that she could have the arborist/estimator come out the very next day to give me a price for the job. The arborist that came to the house was BOB. He was really thorough and very nice. He understood everything I wanted done for the backyard and explained how the work itself would be performed. He was lenient about the pricing and gave me the BEST AFFORDABLE PRICE I could ever ask for. I couldn't be happier with him. The company was very efficient and fast at processing the contract as well as scheduling the date for the job. They came today and just left my house an hour ago. The job took about an hour and a half and they cleaned up everything in my backyard. They were AWESOME!!! Francisco was the guy's name and he was SUPER nice and did everything I asked for. He even went above and beyond to really take a stump and its roots out from the ground that was underneath a wooden old fence that my neighbor and I share. Since the grinder grinds anything that's wood, he was VERY cautious and detailed about how to take the stump and roots out with the grinding machine. He took such great care about everything he did. He was superb on the job!!! I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND anyone do their backyard/front yard landscaping/tree removal by this company. You won't regret it. You can see from the pictures that they did a beautiful job on my house. Remember ask for Bob(arborist/estimator) and Fransisco for the job itself. I was looking for a company to take care of my big tree in the backyard, i have asked some other people and they were asking for $1550 to remove my tree, but I called Clearview and they were able to do it for $900, what a big difference! This is a large company and I had scheduled appointment with them a week in advance so I had requested the day off work to accommodate since they were not available when I was. The appointment was from 11am -1pm and by 1pm, there was a no call and no show so I had to call them at 1:15pm to find out what's going on as I have other plans with other tree removal services and right after my kids swimming classes...The dispatcher apologized and said she will contact the person and get back to me to advise.... Luckily two other tree services came on time and they didn't overlap but then it was 2:55pm and still no call or anything from this company in then i already had to cancel my kids swimming class last minute.... Now I was very upset since I was completely stood up and no call to tell me that. Now, I called back to tell them what is wrong and to cancel the appointment. The dispatcher has no words because anyone can understand this is totally not right. Three days go by, then I get a call from the person to give me a quote and say he was in my neighborhood...of course I am at work and not home to wait for them. I told them no way as I was very pissed that these clowns think I would want to use such irresponsible people and I got a great quote from Cahill Brooklyn Tree service. It was time to cut down the evergreen and reclaim the yard. After procrastinating long enough, I called two places. I opted for Clearview. The initial phone call and follow up communication was very professional. The crew arrived as scheduled and began working immediately. They worked quickly and efficiently, and my very big Christmas tree (a bit over two story) was gone! Called on a Wednesday for an estimate to either prune or remove a large dying tree in my yard. I told them I was available everyday but Thursday. Friday morning Orlando said he could be right over for the estimate. He was not pushy and gave me two very good prices. I called Clearview later in the day and they told me that they would be able to do the job on Monday between 9 a.m. and 12:00 noon. On Monday they arrived at 8:30 with a full crew. they got to work immediately and the entire tree was removed in less than 2 hours. Clearview did a complete cleanup of the job. Called for a quote for 2 trees and some bushes to be removed including stump grinding. Someone came by and left an estimate in my mailbox the next day. Awesome. Price was in the range of others (not the lowest quote we received) but they told me they could do it all in one day. Signed the estimate and sent it back. They said they would be there on Wednesday, June 21 with all work completed that day. The trees were down by 9:15am - amazing! At 3pm I received a call that the stump grinders were not going to be there until the next day but would come first thing Thursday. No problem. Thursday they did not show up. After multiple calls they finally told us that the grinder had broke but that they would come first thing Friday morning. How are you coming Friday if your machine doesn't work? They didn't show up Friday either. Multiple calls and messages and it is now Monday June 26 at 10am and we have still not received a single call back and they have not shown up. I had concrete work scheduled that had to be postponed and I am not happy. I called other companies on Monday and had another company come 6/26 to finish the job. Update! Received a call on Wednesday, June 28 - actually I was at work and couldn't answer the phone and instead of leaving me a voicemail they hung up & called back 5 times in a row. I called back and they asked for my phone number to direct me to who was calling. After waiting on hold for 90 seconds I hung up. Finally connected with Indira who wanted to know if the stump grinders could come today. I explained that it had been a week since the job was to be completed, that no one had even bothered to call us back since Friday and I had other work scheduled so that I had to have another company finish the job. Indira told me she would get in touch with the estimator to revise our bill. I told her good luck as I had to get another company and lost money on work that had to be postponed. She said she would call me back. Not a single apology - just "Well I heard they were having problems with the grinding machine but they should have called you." A new update! 7-13 - I have not gotten a single phone call or voicemail from this company to apologize or try to make anything right - not even about the bill as they said they would speak to the estimator. I received an invoice in the mail! We were quoted $850 for all the work. They did not do all the work and I had to pay another company $700 to come out in an emergency and finish the job so I could have my cement work done. How much should I pay them? read more

My neighbor and I used Clearview to cut down two very large Anthlanthus Trees. The good thing was we got a deal to do two trees. Neither of our backyards could accommodate a stump grinder so we knew we would have stumps. The impetus to remove my tree among other things was the anticipation of installing a new fence. When I spoke to Orlando we expressly discussed removing a bit of fencing where the tree was to obtain not only the lowest cut horizontally but also vertically because as things stood, the tree stump would cause a piece of my fence to have to be cut out which I was trying to avoid (with both endeavors costing 9K, its normally to expect the best job possible). Oscar and his men moved swiftly, the process was dizzying and when they got to the stump despite being promised by Orlando that they would remove some fence to get deeper, they didn't. I had a friend attempt after with a store-bought chainsaw to no avail. When I brought this to the attention of Clearview via email with photos and phone calls, though Indira was pleasant on the phone, they refused to return to make the stump accommodate no cutting of the new fence. They had been paid so why bother? Also, I was told that two surrounding trees would suffer damage. They did but so did my bluestone pavers which were smashed in a few places and every other plant nearby destroyed. This was not even acknowledged let alone compensated in some way. They were a no show & no phone call! They tried to fit me in the next day - but I had to call the office to check and see if it was confirmed, and was told no (after I called them).
