Mr. Malone has been my family's mechanic for decades. Has FAR more knowledge and ability than any other car mechanic I've ever found.

My 2011 Toyota Sienna's check engine light was winking occasionally. My wife had Auto Zone hook it…read moreup to their reader when she was getting windshield wipers. They said the battery was looking a little puny, but not bad ... but the alternator must be shot. Want to buy one now? My wife is as smart as she is good looking (that is to say: very very), so she hired me to take it to a mechanic. Since we only own Toyotas, we don't HAVE a mechanic - the cars just don't need 'em. But there's 150k miles on the van. Thinking we need to find a good shop for future use that isn't the competent-but-expensive dealer. So I looked at Yelp, talked to a few friends, polled a couple of other sites and decided on Larry's. Larry did some sleuthing and decided that my battery isn't quite puny, yet not quite new, either - but not time for a new one. And the alternator is FINE. Don't get me wrong - AZ is great in its place, but so glad we got a second, more learned opinion. Larry's shop cleaned the battery terminals and the throttle body and did a couple of other possibly-related things. He said all that stuff was related to remedying whatever was behind the check-engine code, but couldn't guarantee for absolute sure he'd solved the problem. He said the code isn't critical and probably not even useful for my trim level and engine, and his little tweaks likely solved the problem. But we should keep an eyebone peeled for future flashes. And since my visit, no more check engine light, even for a sec. Believe I win. $60. And peace of mind. And I got to play tug-o-war with his dog. Wins all around. Go there.

To make a long story short, we approved what was needed to fix the oil leak and the catalytic converter they said was needed. $4800 was quoted and paid when they completed the repair. About four months later we were back for the oil leak which had gotten much worse. They claimed they replaced something related to the oil filter connection. At this point we lost all confidence in their company and we went to the Honda dealership. After hearing Honda's $9,000 bid to fix, we decided to buy a new car and end this nightmare. Christian Brothers should have been honest with us and advised us to not fix this car and buy a new one. They care more for their profits than they do customers. If I could give zero stars, I would have.

Everything is new, clean, and does not look like a typical customer lounge. My husband even noticed and complimented the service mgr, Devin. Hubby settled into a comfortable chair and browsed one of the books on the table (about highlights of the SEC). Next to the Keurig coffee area is a large window that overlooks the service area. I sat on a stool at the bar in front of the window and watched the technicians at work. CBA provides a complimentary inspection with pictures and video of the car, as well as a detailed report of the condition of the various parts of the car. Wow! The techs were thorough and their uniforms were still clean in the afternoon! Hmmm. Maybe they change if theirs are dirty? After payment for my new battery and its installation, Devin had a yummy surprise for us. Never have we had such a great experience at an automotive shop! (They also have a shop in Hampton Cove owned by the same person and an affiliated shop in Madison.) I guarantee that you will become a loyal customer - just like us!

Astronomical price, but I was hard pressed for a car, so agreed. Called me couple days later, car fixed, mechanic out test driving now, come get it. Got a ride up there, paid for car, left service center and didn't even get 500 foot down the road before it started overheating. Stopped in a turn around, water was gushing onto the street. Returned car to LBJ, they said since it was not intake gasket, it would now be $3600 to fix. I popped hood, and it was obvious the car had never been worked on. They argued me, threatening a mechanics lien, so i called Better Business Bureau. Boss had 6 mechanics crowd into office to threaten me, didn't work, and I got car back after paying $600 for parts they never installed. The dealership I then took car to verified it had never been worked on, the problem was obvious and expensive to fix, and I ended up just replacing the car. These guys are the worst of the worst, to cheat customers, threaten customers, sue customers, when it would be same effort to just do the work they are paid to do. Notice how they always have cars out front for sale?
