Adam and Jasmine were easy to contact, professional, friendly, and were able to schedule a next day visit to work on our vehicle. Adam and Jasmine were on-time, easy to talk to, and listened to our repair needs. Adam restored electrical functions inside the vehicle, then agreed to install a custom part for us. At the end, everything was function tested while we waited, in front of me. Adam also provided no-nonsense practical advice for our other vehicle, all while talking with me during the visit. It was educational for me to watch Adam troubleshoot and fix the issues, too. Adam and Jasmine also do a wide range of vehicle maintenance and repair, right at your home. My car began to malfunction, and trusting them, I brought it in. Before I even reached the counter, I overheard someone from the garage scream, "Here comes an opportunity." Red Flag. Once the diagnostic was done, I was told repairs would cost upwards of $10,000. I'm no mechanic, but I know manipulation when I see it. I asked for a print off of the required repairs and was told that "they don't do that". Feeling uneasy, I sought a second opinion. In the end, the repairs cost me $200. All I needed was a couple of hoses, and some spark plugs. It was crystal clear that Pep Boys was trying to take advantage of me. What's worse, I overheard a manager berating an employee for not "getting more" out of a customer. They didn't think I heard, but I did. On top of that, I was told by someone else that while they visited the shop they overheard a district manager discussing with their team how desperately they need to repair their customer relationships because so many people are coming forward about being swindled too. I'm sharing this to warn anyone considering Pep Boys, do not trust them. There are honest auto repair professionals out there. The people at Pep Boys, however are nothing but crooks. They do brakes and oil changes. That's it. They aren't mechanics. I learned from a former employee of theirs that the reason they charge so much for repairs that because they outsource the work to actual mechanics, then overcharge so they can get their profit. Let my experience be your cautionary tale. Don't trust them.

As I walked to the front of my car, I got down on one knee to ensure they had replaced all of my trim clips on my splash guard.( I did this because in time past they were not all replaced) As I bent over, I noticed oil pouring out from around my splash guard. I jumped up and ran to cut the car off. One of the techs looked over and asked, whats wrong? I told him my car is pouring oil out. Andrew was inside the building looking out, so I went in and explained to him what the problem was. At this time one of the techs got in the car and was going to start it to take it back in the shop, and the other tech yells at him. "Dont start that car up". Andrew went outside and had a dicussion with them and they pushed in back into the shop. Later he, andrew, came to me very apologetic and professional saying the oil filter was not tighten properly. I was frustrated, and dissapointed in what had just happened. I simply said, this could've been very bad if I had not looked under my car and drove off. He agreed and still apologetic. I told him its not your fault and I know you want things here done right. I hope this will serve to them as a learning tool to pay attention to detail. I will continue to take my car there because I trust them, however, I will contine to be very observant of what they are doing and check to see that job is done correctly. Lights dimmed then died, the car struggled to keep running. I limped home on a wing and a prayer. This morning I started looking for a shop that would at least do a diagnostic right away so I could figure out my plans for going back to Virginia on Monday. After calling a few shops that wouldn't even let me have the car towed to them I found Hooligan Motorsports. A quick call with Rob and he said he could have a look at it as soon as I could get it there. We both suspected the Alternator and within 20 minutes of having the car dropped off Rob called to tell me that he could have it fixed up same day, and an hour or so after that he called again to say the car was ready to be picked up! On top of helping me out of my sudden problem right away, the cost of repair was surprisingly affordable. I'm truly fortunate to find this shop. Rob is very easy to work with. He was the miracle I needed today, and I have found the local shop where we will be taking our repair needs in the future.
