Even though we didn't know our electric bill due to just moving in, he was able to give us a great estimate and provided reasoning why. They performed a virtual inspection Us, being paranoid, requested to add some additional panels to the system after we signed the contract. Sepehr was gracious and accommodating, and was able to make the changes for us even with the tight NEM 2.0 deadlines approaching. The install was smooth and took just a single day, and the quality of work is impeccable! Even after the install, he followed up and made sure that we were well taken care of. In fact, his original recommendation was more than enough, and there was no need for our changes. I used GC Electric Solar for my solar and battery system installation on my single family home. The way my roof was configured limited the number of panels and how the panels could be oriented, however upon arrival the GCE installers were able to quickly reassess and change the design a bit to compensate for the roof penetration locations. The installation took one day, with provisioning taking a bit longer. Francis at GCE was understanding of the problems I was having with the Credit Union financing the deal, which resulted in a few delayed payments. GCE could have charged me late payment fees but they did not which I do appreciate. There were some delays in the installation timetable, which pushed the initial system in-service date into mid February, however looking back at the calendar there were a few compounding difficulties that were not the fault of GCE. I think the communication between GCE and myself could have been improved a bit, however the quality of the work I think makes up for it. I would work with them in the future for expanding my system or adding additional battery storage. read more

We had 15 Panasonic panels installed by GC and so far are happy with our system. The company worked with us when we had to delay our install date due to additional electrical infrastructure work that we needed to complete at our multi unit property before installation. Their prices are competitive and not all companies install the specific brand and quality of panels that they offer. They use an app for communication once you sign the contract. We did run into some confusion when communication occurred simultaneously through both email and the app by multiple staff members but I do think the app is a nice feature to follow the system installation process, overall we are happy with the final product and value! read more

WHAT A NIGHTMARE! Our experience with this company--and particularly the nasty owner--was beyond disappointing. They are the most unprofessional contractors we've ever worked with: outright rude, treating us poorly as customers, even going so far as to lie, use abusive language, and threaten a $1,500 fee not in the contract, which their own lawyer knew they couldn't enforce, instead of honoring their one-sided contract (read the fine print before signing!). They purposefully delayed our project for nearly a year and were completely uncommunicative, yet demanded immediate access to our home with zero warning when it was convenient for them. While we like the panels themselves, we strongly recommend finding a different Panasonic installer (there are 17 in the SD area) if you value your time and sanity to avoid the horrific experience we endured. It's clear they are in a one-and-done business model and not looking for repeat business based on the way they treat customers. Especially with the new NEM 3.0 coming up for a vote. I wanted to make sure to lock in NEM 2.0. I initially got a few quotes close to $30K for a 12kWh system from different referrals. I politely let them know that there was no way I was willing to spend $30K on a solar panel system. I ended up getting 6 quotes at once using EnergySage. GC Electric came in at almost almost 1/2 the $30K I was quoted before the federal rebates. Every question I had was answered honestly and quickly. This is a long overdue review. My story: I started my research on solar at energysage.com in Jan 2023. Signed the contract with GC Electric late Feb. They are one of very very few companies that willing to work on my stone coated metal shingle roof. You'll be surprised how limited your choices are with that type of roof. Got my system installed by mid June. Took them 2 days for installation due to my roof type requires more work. They are so back up with everyone rushing to lock in NEM2.0 (like myself) so it took a while to schedule an installation date. Understandable with a small company. After installation, there were some hiccups due to my MSP requires a derate and the breaker they ordered was wrong. I'd prefer this process handles in a better timely manner but I also understand it's hard for them to manage for a small team/company. By August I passed my inspection and the system up and running with no issue so far for 2 months. Throughout the process the communication was via Proofhub app. To my preferences, it's not that great of a platform for communications. I mean it does the job but not very good/quick. Communicating with Francis, however, is great. He's quick in respond, detail oriented and on top of things. He definitely make the process/experience much better compare to using the app. 2months into it and im hoping to many many more months to come with no issue. GC Electric Solar delivers their promise despite being a small company. This is our second solar panel project. So we have a benchmark. G C Electric is like your quite efficient guy. Never too loud, but when you ask if a certain task is done, the answer is always yes. They were on time every step of the way. And they also gave the best price on the panel (Panasonic) and inverter(enphase) I wanted. They didn't try to upsell anything. I got solar panels for my home through G C Electric Solar. It is a 5.6KW system comprised of 14 Panasonic 400W black panels. I researched quite a lot on panels and microinverters before settling on these panels, and I do recommend these over others. Among the quotes I received via EnergySage and independent queries, G C Electric was very competitive. They were certainly cheaper than some 5-star companies, but they were not the cheapest either. The reason I chose G C Electric is that the installers who quoted much cheaper had quite a bit of bad reviews, and I didn't want to spend 3k+ for the same capacity system just to have installed by a larger/better-known installer, so higher quotes were no go for me. With G C Electric, I had a phone conversation with the owner and direct text conversation with him with lots of technical questions, which he answered reasonably well (thanks Sepehr). G C Electric also had favorable reviews and reasonable answers from the owner to some of the bad reviews - so taking all together I chose to go with G C Electric. I think it was not an incorrect decision. To prepare the contract, there wasn't any onsite inspection. All they needed is a photo of my main electrical panel, which told them whether an electrical panel upgrade was required or not. In my case, it was a simple installation with no main panel upgrade needed. I got 14 panels, the max that I can go with my 125A electrical panel, along with Enphase IQ8M microinverters. I chose IQ8M to get slightly higher power production instead of their suggested IQ8PLUS, although it does require more backfeed leading to electrical panel upgrade, but in my case it was fine. IQ8M was slightly more expensive than IQ8PLUS though. I also got a surge protector because if the microinverters are burnt due to surge from SDGE, the warranty won't cover it. As they got tons of new installations due to the NEM cut-off, they needed to set my date quite late, but later some dates opened up and they installed in end-July. The installation was smooth and the crew were great (thanks Victor). The inspection was about 10 days later, the exact date needed to shift quite a few times as the inspector wasn't confirming the appointment. Finally it was a virtual inspection and it passed on the same day. The technician from G C Electric who came that day were also very helpful and great (thanks Eddy). I got the PTO email from SDGE the very next day. The warranty was activated by Panasonic and I received the warranty certificate from Panasonic couple of days later, which is a 25-year warranty, and I hope to have good service from G C Electric if any issue occurs. Some important points: - Installation and commissioning were smooth. - Crew was great. - Benefit of a small company that you may have direct communication with the owner. - After contract is signed, they use a project management software that was a bit difficult to get around due to slightly old interface. But the software does perform its job of allowing you to communicate your questions to the owner/project manager by posting messages and they will get back to you via replies within 2-4 days. Don't expect instant response. You also get emails when installation and inspection dates are close as they post a message to let you know. However, my personal suggestion and preference is to have more direct phone calls and communications when the installation and inspection dates are close, preferably a week or so before. The software and emails are ok, but some homeowner may mishandle them in future. Still this is actually fine, if you need super responsive fast communications, be ready to spend 3k-5k dollars more for other 5-star companies. With their price, I think it is acceptable, I'd still suggest about the phone calls close to installation dates as a possible future improvement. - They are strict on maintaining the contract that you signed. Any extra work that is not explicitly written on the contract will be refused by them. So it is very important to read your contract carefully before you agree to sign. - After installation, you may receive a physical mail from panel supplier notifying about possible lien. If you have paid fully to G C Electric, they will pay to the supplier as well and your final job will be to ask G C Electric to obtain the Unconditional Release Form signed from the supplier. It is very important that you do it for your own protection. - After installation, they will activate your Enphase account and you can login then to check your power production. Enphase also has an app, Enlighten, with the same interface as web and you can check everything on the go. Overall, I'd recommend G C Electric to others. There is not much strong reason not to recommend them if we take price, equipment and service as a whole, so I'd say choose them. They won't do a site visit. I've promptly replied with all the information they have asked for and now they have simply stopped returning my calls. I am very, very sorry I went with them. Unfortunately my experience has not been good. The panel and electrical work went well and I thought-Great. Unfortunately I have been waiting 6 weeks for GC Electric to complete the stucco work around the new electrical service box. After many phone calls and emails the CEO (Sepehr) got involved and was extremely disrespectful towards me- over the stucco work. I have never been spoken to or treated like this from a vendor in my life. There are so many solar installers- go with someone else to avoid this abuse. read more

They provided a proposal that showed cost of electrical for past year and compared what the solar system if in place would produce and amount t would have cost for the year. They provided type of solar panels would install and the rating. I researched the panels and found them to be of good quality and rating. The guarantee was for twenty five years the company has been in operation since. 2008. I have spoken with various neighbors who have solar and also had two other companies who came in and gave verbal proposals. This company has not pressured us for signing but has instead told us if we want solar installation would be first of next year. They did not push a battery backup as it does not support electrical for the entire home. We will be using this company need to do a few more things to our home before moving forward. read more

After wanting solar for many, many years and sitting through several long, sales pitches, I finally took the recommendation of a neighbor and contacted GC Electric. The CEO himself was always engaged and always responded same-day to answer any questions I had. I only had to provide a handful of items to the design team to get them started on my system. It was only a matter of days before I got the design report that fulfilled all my use requirements. The report was easy to understand, and the plans were well done for the roof and panel configuration. GC Electric was easy to work with and I appreciated all the hard work they did behind the scenes. They use a construction coordination website that is easy to navigate, and it does a great job keeping you notified of any updates, plans and the schedule. It was easy to check on any status changes without being overwhelmed with correspondence. Installation could not have gone better. All the hardware was delivered in the morning and the crew got started right away. I was available to help answer any questions about my house, but it was not needed. The crew skillfully worked all day, and before 6pm the whole system was completed. The panels looked clean and organized. The conduits were well placed and efficiently connected the system to the electrical panel and the newly mounted hardware. After that, the inspection went just as easy. I was introduced to the new system as it was being set up and given instructions how to later turn on the system after approval. Later in the process would request phone calls and answers to questions and guess what no call at the scheduled times nor the answers. The system look promising however, I wanter to use Unirac Flashloc installation for the attachment to the roof because it has a 25 year warranty on leaks and that is the same warranty as my new roof. The Sales Manager, Francis didn't know if they could install that system. Later he stated that he asked and didn't get and answer. Later when he finally returned my one of my calls and I asked about Flashloc system he stated "He didn't get an answer and if I wanted the solar system I would have to use Unirac FlashKit Pro which is inferior to Flashloc. He is the Sales Manger and lacks knowledge of Unirac systems/products. He didn't put any effort to obtain information from Management to answer my question and lost out $14,445. sale. read more
