The process went as described below: 1. Michael came out to our house, took pictures of our roof and took measurements. He then sat down with us and gave us a quick overview of the process. He explained the installation process, the technology involved and how solar power buyback is handled by SDG&E. 2. We gave Michael some of our power bills so he could determine the size of the system we'd need. He came back to us a couple of weeks later with quotes from four solar installation companies for similar sized systems. He went over each quote with us and helped us to understand the advantages and disadvantages of each one. He told us we could talk with representatives from each company if we wanted to. Based on the quotes and his recommendation we decided to go with New Leaf Electric. 3. Brad from New Leaf came out to our house to determine just where the panels and inverter would go; and to verify that they could do it for the quoted price. There were no problems. 4. A team from New Leaf installed the panels a few weeks later. They were courteous and helpful. They explained exactly what they were doing. 5. After the installation Michael followed up with us to find out how it went and to verify that there were no problems.

After providing him with information on our past year's electricity usage, he immediately got to work, and provided us with several options regarding the number of panels, different manufacturers, and price quotes for all the options. Michael made himself available to us to answer all our questions, and we felt extremely informed when we signed the purchasing contract. One of our concerns during the process was that our roof was constructed with clay tiles. Michael worked closely with the roofing contractor, and ensured the quality of the project, which included temporarily removing the clay tiles, installing asphalt shingles under the area which would be covered by the solar panels. Extremely Disappointing Experience ....Do Not Recommend…read more Stay away from this company. Our experience with their planning, installation, communication, knowledge, follow-up, and overall workmanship was extremely disappointing. Our project took more than six months or more to complete, and even after the installation, the problems continued. They left remnants and debris in our backyard that have now been there for two months, and despite our requests, they still have not properly cleaned up. We are now being asked to close their file even though outstanding issues remain. The project itself was poorly managed. Their plans had to be changed half dozen times just to pass inspection, which raised serious concerns about the quality and planning of the work. At this point, we are not even confident that we fully understand what was installed on our roof, and we remain concerned about the possibility of future leaks or other problems related to the installation. They also made a significant mess along the side of our house while installing the lines. We had to specifically point out how bad it looked and insist that they change it. Communication and follow-up were also extremely frustrating. There were times when workers simply did not show up, and the overall experience felt disorganized from beginning to end. After everything we experienced, we cannot recommend this company or anyone associated with them for design or installation work. If you are considering using them, we strongly recommend doing your research and getting multiple opinions before moving forward. Our experience was messy, stressful, poorly managed, and far from what we expected from a professional installation company.
