Two years ago, they completed our upstairs master bedroom addition and remodel, including a beautiful new master bathroom. They also remodeled our entryway and front porch, giving our home fantastic curb appeal and making a great first impression. We are still absolutely loving the results today. The addition exceeded our expectations and has truly transformed both the look and functionality of our home. We hired G Family Construction to execute our Yardzen-designed backyard, and the experience was excellent from start to finish. After interviewing multiple contractors, G Family stood out immediately as the only team that came on site, dug into the details, and worked to understand our intent--not just replicate the designs. Their honest, up-front pricing was a major differentiator. We received a clear, comprehensive estimate with everything included, while other bids had many "TBD" items that weren't part of the real number. When I factored in those gaps, G Family was very competitive. They were also incredibly collaborative in helping dial in the details: when certain elements exceeded our budget, they provided practical alternatives and helped create a phased plan so we could add features later. Execution matched the planning. Communication was clear, updates were frequent, and when inevitable snags arose, they took the time to explain options and trade-offs. They even diplomatically guided me away from a bad design choice using their experience--absolutely the right call in hindsight. They also handled HOA-required changes without billing extra or anything like that. G Family isn't the cheapest, but the value is worth it. When it came time to remodel our mid-century modern home we interviewed and received proposals from six different contractors. Most of the contractors gave us very brief proposals with just a total cost and very little documentation. In contrast, Jon from G Family inspected our house inside and out, reviewed the architectural plans, then put together a thoroughly professional bid that clearly detailed all aspects of the project with their specific costs. His attention to detail made G Family an easy choice. It was a pleasure working with the G Family team, especially Jon, co-owner, Angeleah, interior design consultant, Sunil, our project manager and Juan, the tile foreman. The entire G Family team was very professional, punctual and courteous as well as dedicated to producing a quality product. Jon and Sunil were very responsive when questions arose about the project. G Family's professional experience really paid off. We had to deal with several code upgrades and town building department requirements. Jon devised creative solutions that addressed the issues without significantly impacting the cost or schedule. Because they are a full-service contractor, G Family was able to guide us through many of the project details. This helped reduce the stress of all the decisions that needed to be made. Despite warnings from friends and neighbors that a major remodel like ours would go over schedule and cost at least double the original quote, the project finished on time and within our budget. Working next door, Jon spotted a rotting support on our house that could have caused major damage. We asked him to repair it, which he did competently and at a reasonable price. We used G Family to do a full, down to the studs, remodel of our home. We partnered with Jon all the way through - from bid to final billing, and his great team. We found them to be thorough in their bidding (get your plans as dialed as you can), very honest, and detailed. The quality of their work is top-notch. Everything the other reviews say is true. G Family is truly a pleasure to work with! Before we found Jon G, we had met with, and even spent a bit of time working with, several other contractors, each of which was either a family friend, or a referral. In the end we had various issues with each, ranging from them giving us poor information, or quoting us ridiculous rates (one that was 4 times what anyone else quoted!) We were ready to give up, because we were sure we would never find a good contractor. Then, in swooped G Family! Jon took on the rebuild of a staircase for us, as the original was not to code. It ended up being an extremely complicated project due to the very tight space. Jon was always communicative with me, polite, and beyond lovely to work with throughout the process. As a woman, it is never a comfortable feeling to have your house full of strange men, but within the first day, I had practically forgotten they were there. Not only that, but Jon was there throughout the entire project, sometimes working 10+ hours a day alongside his team, to get the job done on time. I was so impressed with his work ethic, and so appreciative of his kindness throughout the experience. The bottom line is, that this family run company is really doing things right. Trying to find a contractor is not easy, trying to find a GOOD contractor seems close to impossible - so now that you've found G Family, be thankful that you can stop looking. When I think of G Family I get a warm, fuzzy, happy feeling and it's hard not to smile. Albeit this is my first personal contractor experience but I have been listening to friends and family complain for years about their negative contractor experiences. When I first started looking I had 4 contractors come out and bid for the job. G Family not only presented with the lowest bid, their bid was $1,000 lower!!! The highest bid was over twice their bid! And in the end they did not charge me any more, they charged me what they quoted me!! David was a pleasure to work with. He was accommodating, kind and virtually held my hand through it all. I admitted at the beginning that I was am a worrier and may be high maintenance. Not only didn't he flinch, he returned my calls or answered when I called! He didn't tell me what I wanted to hear, he told me the truth - which was usually what I wanted to hear Lastly, they finished on time. I told them the date it HAD to be done by and it was done on that date. They had to come back for a couple of easy finishing touches and were forthright and communicative throughout. Whenever I have a bigger job, G Family is who I'm going to call!!! I can't recommend them enough. They are professional, courteous and a one-stop shop - meaning I didn't have to hire the architect I hired beforehand, I could have had it all done at G Family - at least I'll know that for the next time!! read more

If I could give G Family six stars, I would. They have done several projects for us after being recommended by a friend, and their work is amazing. The crew is so talented, all super friendly (and have worked for the company for years--great employee loyalty), show up on time, get the work done on time and to the highest standards of quality, and they finish the job right away, without leaving you hanging for the last 10% like every other contractor we've ever worked with. They ask all the right questions and consult with you to make sure things get done just the way you are expecting, and they are always looking for ways to make a project better. When they leave a job site, it is immaculate, and if you have questions about anything, Dave will come out right away and check to make sure it gets put right. The kicker is that their prices are so reasonable, especially for the incredible quality of their work. I have no doubt we'll be working with G Family for many years as we get our old house brought up to modern standards slowly but surely. G Family Construction is a fantastic firm to work with from start to finish. They came highly recommended by a friend who is a commercial contractor and had hired G Family to do his house remodel. We figured that if a contractor had good things to say about another contractor we were off to a good start. We hired G Family after meeting with many contractors to do a large second story addition and a remodel and smaller addition to our first story-all while we remained living in a small portion of our of home. Jon and the G Family crew were fantastic, skilled and great to work with. This was our first experience taking on such a large home project and we were so impressed with the level of professionalism and knowledge that Jon and his entire crew showed us from start to finish. When hiccups occurred (they always do) or when we had a difference of opinion on costs or change orders it was always a pleasant conversation that ended with everyone feeling good about the outcome. I know now from many friends who have undergone similar projects that this is rare! When our roofless house started leaking due to a freak and unpredicted rain storm, Dave and Jon came to our house and dealt with it immediately- AT 11 PM ON A SUNDAY NIGHT! Dave and Jon are great. I had a really complicated deck that needed replacing. I had 7 contractors look at it. The G family bid was not only up to a third cheaper than the others, they were also the most, creative, enthusiastic, and most pleasant. The whole job went very smoothly. Their workmanship was excellent. The job was finished well within the schedule. They went out of their way to ensure I was satisfied. All their crew were extremely pleasant even when it was windy and raining. I love our new deck. It was a real pleasure having them build for us. Incredible experience working with Jon...a consummate professional, responsive and great craftsman. We had a tricky dry rot problem under exterior stairs and were relieved to discover Jon's "can do" attitude that enabled a beatiful repair, extending the life of the stairway without tearing the entire thing apart and starting from scratch. Conscientious, super efficient, great communicator, excellent planning (came to job site with everything he needed) and very fair price. We are very thankful that we selected G-Family for the remodeling of our home. Both their work and that of their subcontractors is first class. David and Jon seem to only work with true craftsmen - both their employees and their subcontractors are experts who deliver excellent work. The carpentry, tile work, plumbing, electrical, and so much more was all done professionally and exceptionally well. The old floors in our home had been buried beneath carpet and linoleum for years and now they are shining. David's eye for detail was very helpful throughout the remodel. His crew was skillful and fast. They executed quality work and implemented clean solutions for some challenging details.
