This is our 3rd project that Daniel Lugo & crew has tackled for us. Exceptional quality craftsmanship in every case. We love dealing with Daniel because he takes my sketches, plans, special details and makes them a reality. He's very collaborative and explains why some things could be made even better. Daniel let me be very involved in picking tile, finishes, custom cabinets, lighting and even let me participate in hand texture coating the walls with a Santa Fe look. He loves what he does and invites a challenge. He's respectful, communicates well, always shows up to work and in this case, his crew worked very long hours in order to complete the bathroom in record time so my disabled mother could return home as fast as possible. This project tripled in scope once the demo revealed severe wood rot behind the walls, almost no insullation, sub-standard plumbing, joists, electrical and other peculiar issues. He actually had to remove the exterior wall to our bathroom and rebuild the entire wood structure; top, bottom and sides! He was brilliant and transformed this mess into a safe, top quality and the most beautiful, spa like, ADA bathroom we've ever seen. It has so many high end features and excellent craftsmanship. After all the hidden structure was rebuilt, Daniel built heated floors, a larger window, higher ceiling, a flat floor, installed dimmable LED light band around the custom medicine mirror chests, (these are sexy medicine chests with so much 14 feet of shelf space in each one!). The other brilliant detail was a mini shelf made of exotic wood to hold a cell phone in the toilet area. The tile work was superb. I couldn't find a 6x9 shower wall tile so they cut each one from the matching 48" long floor tile. The shower stall was tripled in size and the tile work was brilliantly, mathematically calculated. The shower stall was intended to have glass doors, but with a wheelchair mom + aide needing to fit in there, glass doors needed to be postponed and Daniel created a floating shower curtain rod for a flexible curtain. Every member of his team pays attention to detail and does quality work. Daniel helped keep costs low by using his favorite suppliers for quartz and the best quality wood. He treats his team of workers very good which means a lot to us. They worked tirelessly through a heat wave with good humor. Daniel is smart, experienced, reliable and works with an excellent plumber and electrician. His crew are smart, strong, hard working guys who follow Daniel's orders. They were kind & respectful and cleaned up the area every night before leaving. Everything about Daniel and his crew was excellent & skilled. We so enjoyed working with them all. I found Daniel on Yelp and I'm glad I trusted all the 5-star reviews! Daniel and his team can do pretty much anything construction-related, and he knows specialists in various trades (electrical, roofing, painting, sheetrock) that he can call in when needed. He's great at communication, takes care of everything (buying or picking up materials, scheduling and coordinating workers, and managing the project so all the workers know what to do), and always does things the "right" way (e.g., building a retaining wall with proper drainage and proper use of gravel, landscape fabric, and plastic protective sheeting, and wrapping posts in butyl tape so the wood won't rot). When you give him a project to work on, he thinks through it carefully before getting started so he can make sure it's done right, and he offers suggestions to make the final result as nice looking and well-built as possible. He is honest, reliable, and does quality work. I initially hired him to finish up remodeling of an ADU, which included: rebuilding a footbridge, various interior finish carpentry (installing molding, building a custom laundry enclosure, baseboards, closet doors -- all in a structure that isn't plumb or level, which makes it tricky!), sheetrock, painting, and re-roofing. He and his guys did such a good job that I also asked them to do some work at my mom's house (replacing a redwood deck and railing, installing a skirt under the deck, and working on some interior tasks like painting, under-cabinet lighting, cabinet installation, and bypass closet door installation). He also built an 8x10 shed from the ground up, including excavating the site, building retaining wall, pouring a concrete slab foundation and stairs with rebar. The first project was a banquet bench seat and his attention to craft was incredible. The second project was much more involved. He put in a new range for me which we required him to cut the counter top and as well as a cabinet to go from a 30" width to a 36" width range. I would highly recommend Daniel for your job. We have had Daniel do work on two different occasions now. We had a lot of prep work to do before we got custom closets installed, new tile in our entry way, and painted our house interior. So we called Daniel. He removed a couple inset shelving units from our master closet, and put new drywall up in the large holes it left. He got both walls ready for painting, as he textured the new sections to match the existing walls. And also gutted and prepped our closet for our new custom closets to be installed. He patched a number of other areas on other walls to get ready for painting. Installed new baseboards throughout much of our 2800 sq.ft. house, including a stairwell. He installed molding along the entrance our master-bedroom and master closet. We had him back out after a couple other projects were done. He finished the baseboards in the master closet since the closet was now installed, and he finished base boards in our entry hall after our tile guys finished. We switched to a tankless water heater in order to gain a storage room. We had Daniel out to install PERGO flooring, baseboards and door trim in that room. We also had him create a cat door in the door of that room, in order to move the litter box there. The cat door looks wonderful, as he put some nice molding around it. He painted the room, as well. Daniel and his worker were both courteous and diligent workers. I would recommend him for your job. read more

Daniel and his team are one of the best kept secrets in Marin, but not for long... I actually found him on one of my runs, and witnessed firsthand the outstanding remodeling work he was doing on a home not far from mine. I first hired him to do some smaller jobs, including sealing in my living room ceiling and installing lighting, painting and small fix-ups. Once I saw the quality of his work, we moved on to bigger projects, including a complete renovation (from the studs) of my guest bathroom. He did an incredible job - new tile, walls, vanity, plumbing/toilet, flooring, electrical, window install, you name it. Daniel has done many other projects for me - renovation of a guest bedroom (including flooring, a new slider door, sealed ceiling/lighting), a new staircase, a custom cabinet for washer and dryer. In every case, he did amazing work, was very communicative and responsive to my changes, cleaned the work area each day, and was fair and reasonable in his quotes. The thing that stands out about Daniel is his honesty. We bought a fixer-upper last year in SF that needed a lot of work. We called Daniel and within a few days he dropped by to give us an estimate. The first thing that I noticed was how forthcoming Daniel was. A lot of the other contractors who put in bids were constantly trying to upsell us into more work via fear mongering, but Daniel was very straightforward in his responses on what needed to be done, and how much things would cost. Daniel is also very fair in his pricing. Similar contractors quoted us 30-40% more, which tells me Daniel skips the hassle of negotiating, and just gives one reasonable price. As for the work, Daniel and his team did a fantastic job. They installed new hardwood floors, redid our bathroom, installed new lights, and remodeled our kitchen, all which look and function great. Another thing we noticed, was how clean Daniel and his team left our home after their work, great attention to detail.
