I found GI Junk Away on Yelp and agree with all the reviews that have been posted. Blake and crew were amazing and I highly recommend them for any job, big or small. I had to clear out a home that had 50+ years worth of stuff in it. It took 3 FULL truckloads to get rid of everything, including several large pieces of furniture. This was definitely a labor intensive job for them, a bigger job than they expected, and they did it without complaint or hesitation. They worked hard, fast and efficiently and got the place cleaned out in less than 5 hours!! I expected it to be an all day job and was pleasantly surprised when they finished so early. Was searching Craigslist one day looking for an "inexpensive" hauling company as I didn't have access to my buddies truck when I needed it to haul the stuff away myself. Well after a couple emails back and forth with pictures I provided and a description of what I needed hauled away, he sent me a ridiculously high initial quote which I refused. He then offered to come to my residence to re-evaluate the amount of material that needed removed at which point he could give me a more accurate quote. Upon his arrival and after looking over everything that was to be hauled away, he lowered his price from $375 to $250 which was better, but still not in the price range I wanted it to be. At the end of the day I paid the $250 because I needed the items removed before the holidays and because I didn't have to go through the hassle of doing it myself which would have meant loading it into my buddies truck, which would have been multiple trips due to the amount of stuff I had to dump, driving it to the Miramar/Escondido dump, and then unloading it all. I probably would have saved myself $100-$150 if I did it myself but hey......sometimes you have to pay to play. Despite paying more than I wanted though, he was very professional and courteous when dealing with my wife who was home taking care of this while I was at work until I got home right before Blake left. My wife and I were very pleased with his attitude and overall demeanor and he did a pretty good job of cleaning up before he left as well using both a broom and leaf blower to clean up the mess leftover. Of note, I never give 5 stars unless everything is perfect....but I stand confident that he is worth using again should I find myself in a pinch like I did this time. read more

We made an appointment but they didn't arrive on time and kept my friend waiting for almost two hours. Because I couldn't be there myself, they didn't negotiate the price with me beforehand and just told me the amount I should pay after the removal. The price was very unreasonable. All of the 5 Star reviews are spot on. We asked for a quote on-line (after filling out the form) and got a response almost immediately. It says Blake responds within 10 minutes and he definitely did. We have used other companies in the past to haul off items we no longer had use for and I will tell you that he was a lot cheaper. He came to our house today and made quick work of loading up our stuff. And we had a weight set and a huge TV that weighed nothing short of a ton.
