Jenna for one, shared insight into Pokemon deck building and went as far as to call on two different days when a card needed for a deck build for my son arrived. Jenna, Gabi, and the entire team here really get it. And the service shows in the way the store in consistently full of excited hobbyists. Easiest 5-star I've ever given. This local game store is unbelievably cool. I've been here twice now -- both times, I've received deliberate and friendly offers for help from several workers. And when I share that I'm browsing, it becomes a simple "Just let us know if you need anything." Which I always appreciate. Beyond that, the volume, variety, types of items, and organization blows me away. They have it all here -- ended up with a book for me , a book for my kiddo, and some mystery gift for me (from my wife). I will be keeping an eye on the dice for whenever one catches my eye. The one negative is the impact to my bank account -- not because of it is expensive (everything is VERY fairly priced) but because of how much cool stuff there is and how welcoming it feels there. Their loyalty program is going to pay off very quickly and I am already excited to return again. Thank you all for running such an incredible game shop! This is one of the best comic shops I've been in. my gf and I were just around olympia and I suggested we go to this place and I am so glad we stopped by here. There's a wide selection of comic books and mangas. I asked one of the workers if they had any vampirella comic books and he showed me where they were. the staff was very chill and helpful. I like how they have Indie , DC and Marvel Comics organized by shelves. I am definitely going to come by here soon. read more

I had a less than ideal experience on my last visit to Gabi's. I wrote a review pointing out what had gone wrong, and Gabi reached out to me and we ended up having a ~40 minute conversation about what went wrong, what went right, and how things could be better. It's her business, and she could have told me to go screw, but she instead took time to reach out and not only apologize for the problems, but solicit feedback and ask for ideas to make things better. I think I had originally given a five star review, then had a bad experience and downgraded it, and after my interaction with Gabi, I have to go back to five stars. She's a pro and a legend and I wish I had more expendable income these days so I could give her business more money. That's a good interaction. I'm not sure what is still going to show up on Yelp, because I'm too lazy to deal with going back and removing stuff, but the issues I had don't bare repeating. What's worth mentioning is the over-the-top customer service and massive selection for all your geek needs. Thank you Gabi for being such a legend and for caring. Love this place. Been a decade of multiple shopping experiences. I have yet to have a bad one, however I usually know what I am after, where it is and if I need help, I will ask. The selection the OCC has is substantial, from cards to games, to all sorts of reading material. Price was OCC is very comparable, of course you can order anything on Amazon and 99/100 times it'll probably be cheaper. At least when you come to OCC, you can actually see what you're looking at, hold what you're looking at, if you're wanting to get an idea of how something plays or if this new Commander deck is worth it-some employee there has an opinion about it and they'll love to share it with you. The service is amazing, the owner (Gabi) is the sweetest & extremely generous, the staff is very knowledgeable and always down to give great recommendations. We came to Olympic Cards & Games for a game we were in search of (The Red Dragon Inn). We found so much more than our game there! There was a Magic the Gathering event in full swing when we arrived, and they sell manga and figurines in addition to dozens more games that we haven't even heard about. I've been shopping here since I was in the 2nd grade, at every location the store has been, starting WAY back at the South Sound Mall next to the Goldmine arcade. I'm much older now, so my kids and I continue the tradition at this location. Such an AMAZING business! Gabi and her team are true pillars of the community. Not only does the store offer many opportunities to foster connections and friendships among their customers, but Gabi does A LOT of outreach to help kids/teens/families in need. This store, no, this community, of comics and games enthusiasts is one of the most welcoming, helpful, heartwarming, uplifting, and safest places to be. From the impeccable service (every single person who works there is a gem that will help the heck out of you, and will always leave a smile on your face) to the immense selection (it's one of the biggest and most diverse "nerd" stores I have ever set foot in) to the absolutely amazing points system (has saved my life so many times). Gabi's is AMAZING!!! Okay, I have known this store since I was 12-14 years old. That is only 3-4 years less than I have lived in Washington. I have seen her grow from this small space by PetSmart to a literal warehouse!!! Here's the deal. The owner, Gabi, total, actual godsend. I know she KNOWS she does a lot, but she doesn't "KNOW" This store has comics and card games. Books, merchandise, Funko, if it can have a Fandom you will find it literally in that store. Not only that, you have boardgames that you probably have never heard of from one side to the other, Warhammer, figurines, MTG, Pokemon, name it and you will find it, and IF you do not find it there, she and her staff of awesome will find it!!!! Great Dalmudi? Papillon? Flux? Keltis? Munchkin Expansion EVERYTHING. Then there is Gabi's Kids. Gabi's charity were she helps kids and families in need. She helps with food, safe space, Christmas, meals, free water in the summer, if you need help, you literally just have to ask. My family and I have a tradition, now that I am no longer Gabi's Kid needing her safe space, she has a credit build up club system. So you get store credit for buying at the store. They have a fancy schmancy computer way of keeping track. Once a month my family makes a trip to Gabi's kids get something, we get a new boardgame to play and hubs and I find something. Every year on, or near, my husband's and my anniversary we roll over our credit to Gabi's Kids. It is never a huge amount, but enough to help at least one family at some point. It is a little bit that I can do to say Thank you to the woman who gave my brother and I a place to forget the darkness that loomed in our lives. read more

This place is a conundrum. 1st the owner is nice and really seems to care about her business and community. It's about an hour drive for me and I always thought it was worth the drive. The very real downside to this place is unless you are looking for graphic novels/trades or statues, it offers nothing special. I hold it against this store more than others because of its size. 10 times bigger than most other stores but it's all wasted potential. They don't really care about comics. I have no problems with overpriced new variant covers or the shelves of newer issues. The real problem lies in back issues. "High dollar books" are held behind a counter. To ever look at this section is SO HORRIBLY INCONVENIENT! You need a dedicated employee to sit there and grab each one. Once you've decided, they have to price check. This is a huge waste of time to begin with but what makes it worse is that these random people are not trained to be graders. So you're being told NM price for beat up copies. Every other comic shop in the history of the world has a "Wall" with priced comics. If the argument is that it's too hard to keep up with prices that's bullshit because there's at least five employees at all times here. "Random back issue bins" the worst part. It breaks my heart as a comic collector. They have no respect for these books. They have hundreds of long and short boxes shoved in the back of the store as an after thought. Your privilege as a customer is to dig through these with no room as if you're in someone's garage and find books you want. These books are 95% likely to be damaged since they aren't bagged and boarded and customers have to man handle everything. So after you find it, now the employee searches eBay to give you pricing that's incorrect. This should be the center piece of a store like this. Instead it's mangas and over priced toys and board games. It should all long boxes of sorted and priced comics. I will reiterate that if you are too lazy to sort, price and display your comics.... You shouldn't own a comic shop. That should be a labor of love and not a feeling of burden. I've never walked into a comic shop that's not a Wednesday and seen all the staff so busy they can't price and bag and board books. This could be the shop to end all shops but it's a Cheesecake Factory hobby store. Tries to offer everything and doesn't excel in anything. read more

I like supporting storefront business, but live in a city with not great board game stores, so tend to get most my games online. Whenever I am driving through Olympia, I stop at Gabi's. They have an gigantic variety of board games and very knowledgeable and helpful staff. With games being so pricey, I usually don't buy games I don't research first. I went yesterday and grabbed a game, then talked to an employee about what games I like and asked for a recommendation. He walked right over to where the game under my arm had been, said "darn, the game I was going to recommendation must have been sold." Anybody who shops here knows it as Gabi's. I don't think I have ever once in over 15 years living in Olympia called it Olympic cards and comics. There is a reason for that. Gabi is the sweetest most caring person who values her customers and treats every customer like family. About 20 years ago, I first went to this little Comic shop in the South Sound mall. The years have gone by, and the locations and staff have changed but what made this place unique is what makes is a legit is it's owner. Gabi simply loves her customers. Her community outreach is just about beyond compare. If you're looking for comics, games, anime statues or toys, you'll find them here chances are if Gabi and her team cant get them out of their own stock, they'll find it and track it down for you.!I went with my niece today and she was won over by every single aspect of the store. This place could be great, but unfortunately they're way too greedy with their comic book prices. They have mountains and mountains of beat-up long boxes jam-packed with mostly basic superhero stuff from the last ten years. 90% of these boxed books are worth LESS than the original cover price because they're 1.) common, 2.) mostly not bagged, and 3.) they've been pawed over and flipped through repeatedly. At most comic shops these would be quarter or dollar bin books, but not at Gabi's. This is the only comic shop in WA state that does NOT have a dollar bin. As a result, these long boxes just sit there year after year! All of those books are available for much less online. Lastly, the quarter rack should be one of the coolest features when you consider the massive back issues inventory, but it's dreadful and rarely replenished. The "free" comics are literally torn-up garbage. Why bother? If your goal is to create a comic book community, then move some merch. read more

I went yesterday for free comic book day and the place was packed and a chaotic mess and not a single employee was rude to me. I had questions, I cut in line by accident, I got lost, I had a lot of discounted items....and not one employee rolled their eyes or had any kind of negative tone in their voice. I was extremely impressed at the kindness that runs this entire building. The stress that they were under never showed or was directed at the customers. Thank you for all the wonderful people you have hired. Favorite MTG store around! I don't go there for much else but they have a large variety of board games, D&D stuff, comic books, etc. The MTG selection is always very large and is constantly changing. Prices are usually pretty good and staff is very helpful in helping you find/search/recommend cards for you. Some stores use a online inventory system where you can view and place orders. This store doesn't and that is the only downside imo. read more
