We love coming here. This time we stayed in the birch cabin. Cozy for two and the air conditioning worked nice. I love they allow different dogs. The lake is our favorite little paradise. Owner, Cameron mcClean, used my credit card, on which I made a deposit online for a cabin for July 2025, to charge me the full rent for the 2 week stay a year from now. He charged me in Sept 2024 for a rental stay in July 2025. For 2 months, he kept leading me on that he would correct it until he stopped responding to me. He never returned my phone calls. It was almost $3000. My bank was also waiting for him to correct it He also removed the reservation page from the website. Held my daughters wedding at the Gables this weekend. Such an amazing place! Cameron and his family are gracious hosts and go out of their way to make sure everything is perfect. All 8 cabins are cute and very clean. I only live 10 minutes away but think I may also need a night away - lol. If you are planning to spend time up at Dodge Ridge, this is the place to stay. We booked the Ski Bus round trip, best if you park your car at Twain Harte shopping center, and catch it from there. Yeah! Great deal, you get so much for your money, a place to stay in a chill mountain town, a place to park your car. Some units have a fully functional kitchen. We had a fun time using the gas fireplace. Check out the town, they have a great coffee shop, liquor store and grocery store. Also not too far down the highway from Sonora, that's where the bigger shops are. We'd most definitely stay here again. read more

The owner, Cameron, is really nice. The Hideaway Cabin which we stayed at was *not luxurious, but it was very cute, cozy, and comfortable. Perfect size for 2 people. The partial kitchen was much better than expected because (1) the "small" fridge is much bigger than those tiny fridges that you might get with a typical hotel room (i think those tiny ones are not much more than 1 or 1.5 cubic ft in size; hideaway cabin fridge is about double that size), (2) the double hot plate worked really well! We were able to make a variety hot food items with it, (3) we had everything we needed to eat-in (lots of bowls, plates, cups; necessary items to wash dishes including sponges, dishwashing liquid, small dish drainer). There were just a few, minor things, in the kitchen that could be improved: (1) there was not that much silverware and the silverware that was there was very worn, could use replacing (still usable though), (2) not many pots/pans, just 2 pots and 1 very small pan, (3) no basic cooking items like salt or pepper. The cabin was very well stocked with plenty of toilet paper and paper towels. The internet was very usable, not fantastic, but also not nearly as spotty as at some other places where we've stayed. There's a flat screen smart tv, but we don't watch tv, so..didn't use it. There are a decent number of outlets in the cabin! But, our electric blanket controllers died when plugged into the outlet next to the left side of the bed ...or, maybe, it wasn't the outlet that caused the controllers to stop working since those controllers are known to stop working sometimes for no reason... but they were working earlier that day at our home before we left for the cabin, so.. In any case, all other electric/electronic devices worked just fine, including a small radiator that we found in the closet. The bathroom door didn't have a lock, but that was not an issue for us. There is not a lot of space for toiletries because there is no cabinet or cubby for storage, and sink counter space is limited since it's a pedestal sink. There was a hair dryer, but we didn't use it. The bathroom could use a towel bar/holder of some sort for a hand towel, and/or some hooks for bath towels (there was 1 hook for a bath towel, but it was used to hold the hair dryer, and there was 1 towel bar, but that was for holding all the dry/clean towels). Everything in the cabin was clean. The spare blanket was very soft, light, comfy, and warm. We liked the rocking chairs! The windows in the cabin were great. When we needed/wanted fresh air, we could open a window. But, the 1-inch blinds on the main door of the cabin had some gaps, so it felt like there was a privacy issue. But, since we were there for only a couple of days, and during a snow storm, it was fine, since no on really walking around in a storm :) If there is lots of snow, like what was present when we were there, it's a little scary to get to/from the cabin (at least for city dwellers, like us) because the driveway in to the cabin is long and narrow, and you have to drive over a small bridge to get to the Hideaway Cabin. Make sure to call Cameron and ask that the driveway be plowed if there's lots of snow on the driveway. The cancellation policy at Gables Cedar Creek is very generous. The lake and everything in town are within walking distance, though we recommend taking the car to Twain Harte market, if it's winter weather. Overall, Gables Cedar Creek Inn was a very comfy place to hunker down at for a couple of days during a snow storm, and we'd certainly consider staying there again if we're in the area again! read more

We love this place. This is our third time staying and it just feels so much like home. We've only come in the winter and now we really want to come in summer to enjoy the front porch and the barbecue and the lounge chairs outside. Cameron is awesome, so responsive and nice. This was a place that I could simply call home! Tim, Jan and Cookie use to welcome my mom and me several times a year when we came for vacation. My grandmother's dog Muffin was a fond dog pal of cookies and my mom truly loved the cedar creek inn. She use to even go away for her birthdays alone to spend time in the wilderness. Tim and Jan are amazing owners and friends. All of the units (I have stayed in almost all of them) are furnished with that home like feel, they include memory notebooks for you to write down your memory of the visit and overall it's a fantastic place to visit and stay. Our daughter just got married here on September 21st. What a fantastic location for a wedding. Cameron is so very nice and the cabins are great. Family who stayed here, want to go back. I really loved this place. Love the old charm. We stayed in Feb in the Birch for a few days. Off season so it was quiet during the week, we were the only ones there on Sun/mon, except sat nite. No snow on ground as February was very warm. We did go up to Dodge Ridge and XC ski/snowshoe. Only 10 min from Sonora, where we have friends, and 30min from skiing. Our rental looked recently remodeled, although the couch was pretty bad. I believe they took some of the furnishings out a few weeks ago and redid the yard around it since we stayed there, according to their fb page. So maybe next time it will be nicer. I'm sure newer reviewers will post something. I think we would like a cabin not connected to another, as on saturday night, banging and pipes(water) made noise all night long from the ppl next to us. Plus people that stayed there before us had a dog, and didn't clean up poop in front of our cabin/tree near driveway, almost stepped in it. Or it could of been a neighbor dog. Idk Owner of property didn't pick it up for over a day after we mentioned it. These are why the deduction of stars. I'm sure we'll come back again. These were just minor things. The prices are excellent too and they do NOT fluctuate from weekend- weekday always the same $99- $130 a night depending on which cabin you want. Close to everything. Check out the cute, mtn town coffee shop in town too. Caffè Blossom. Reminds me of where we lived in the SC mtns. We loved it. read more

Everything we were hoping for! 25 of our Family booked all 8 cabins and Cameron, the host, could not of made it better! These cabins are very homey, rustic enough to feel like you are 'camping' but with all the amenities to make it easy. A full kitchen, bathroom, shower, TV's, my kind of camping! A fire pit in the middle of the property surrounded by a large grassy spot to set up crochet, corn hole, all the chairs for the perfect family gathering. The private lake you have access to was a huge hit for the kids, in town we played Mini-golf, and then had a big BBQ at the property. We are looking forward to next year already! Book it! read more

We had a pleasant experience the first time we came. The cabins were cute and the host was friendly. So my wife decided to surprise me for Valentines gift with another stay at the Inn. We were going to bring our kid up for some snow play. A few days before we were scheduled to arrive, they sent us an email saying that they made an error while transferring to a new booking system and that our room was no longer available. They double booked the room and CANCELLED our reservation. No call ... no real apology or further explanation. We had to completely change all our travel plans since this was during a busy week and other hotels were not available. My wife felt HORRIBLE and my child was let down that we were not staying at the place we said we were going to. The reservation was made weeks before, but nobody mentioned the issue until only a couple of days before the reservation. Very disappointed. :( read more

Many reasons why I'm only giving 1 star. Owner is not friendly. It is dirty, bed sheets had dog hair in them with crumbs. He's out for your money and will bill you for anything. (I.e. in the loft room there's stairs to go up into the loft that contains 2 single beds. He billed us because he said we had "extra" people sleep up there, we were just exploring and enjoying our cabin). He's a big cry baby and does not make you feel welcomed at all. It's more like he's mad he has to do his job and be a good host to his clients. This place has a lot of potential but the owner ruins these adorable cabins... stay away! Recently stayed at the Gables again and enjoyed the "Hideaway" cabin. This was by far the best cabin we have stayed in yet! It was tucked away across a cute little creek/bridge and had such a cozy, quiet feel. When we arrived the lights were on in the cabin and the gas burning stove was already going, so the room was warm and had such a welcoming ambience. The owners clearly put so much work into this place, and it really is a breath of fresh air to spend a few days here. read more

Decided to go for a group motorcycle ride in the area. We love to stay in cabins where we can gather, cook, and relax in a "homey" environment. The Gables Cedar Creek Inn was perfect! We had a group of guys stay in the "Creekside Home" it was amazing and turned in to the focal point for the 4 day weekend we spent there. A HUGE kitchen, amazing Master Suite and room for many. We cooked all our meals there and gathered on the porch to just hang out. 3 of us stayed in the Cedar. It was comfortable with a great decor. A couple we had with us stayed in "the Hideaway" and loved every moment of it. Beyond great rooms the owners went out of their way to make our stay a great one. There are not words to describe the wonderful time we had staying at Gables Cedar Creek Inn. This was such a great family place and a great place for some will deserved R&R. We booked one night along our road trip through Yosemite but the moment we arrived, we wished we could have stayed a week. We got the hideaway cabin, which was the best cabin we've ever had (and we've stayed in a lot around California) in terms of comfort, cleanliness, and authentic style. The best surprise came when we realized we could go to the "members only" lake. (note: if you go and run into Governor Brown, don't ask for a picture.) Great charming bungalows and cabins, authentic Twain Harte and Sierra experience. This business has years of TLC made obvious with the details in accommodation and hospitality, from one who knows ! Lots of attention to detail. Lived in this area and return for visits...this is a best choice !! We visited in the fall off season, great time! Made a very enjoyable day visit to Yosemite, lunch in the Yosemite Valley, a hike and back to Sonora for dinner by 7pm! Of course staying local and tripping up Hwy 108 is fantastic too, with Yosemite - like granite views. We rented out the Gables to host our bridal party as well as our wedding reception! Although it wasn't our first choices of venues it turned out absolutely perfect! Cameron was available 24/7 for anything and everything! He helped make sure all the cabins were set up perfectly for our guests as well as set up our whole reception to exactly what we wanted! He has done a few weddings and gave us the freedom to set-up exactly how we wanted and how would work best for us! Come to find out that his sister had contact the owners and ask that our reservation be upgraded to The Hideaway cabin, the most amazing little log cabin ever. Gables Cedar creek in is your own little slice of piece and tranquility in the ever so beautiful town of Twain Harte. The owner Cameron is one of the nicest people Iv meet, not to mention an awesome cook . Iv been fortunate to visit the place not once but twice and am already planning my third trip. The cabins are very cozy and supper clean. The yard and area outside was nice and grassy with plenty of space for the kid's to run off the extra energy. When I told you we were leaving you said sorry and then walked off. I like family businesses, like supporting them and have stayed at your establishment previously when your parents ran it. We stayed here during March and had one of the best weekends ever! My husband had to take a 3 day class in Sonora, which is quite a distance from where we live so he needed a place to stay... We decided I would come with him and make a little trip out of it! We wanted somewhere to stay with a kitchen so we could save money and make our own food. After searching around on Yelp we found Gables Cedar Creek Inn. The reviews were all so good that we thought they must be fake, but they are not! We stayed in the Birch which had the best cabin decor. The kitchen was pretty well equipped but we agreed it wouldn't really be livable for longer than a few days. My parents stayed next door in the Aspen which is bigger and has a little living room area, so we mostly hung out in their cabin. The owners were extremely friendly and knowledgable about the surrounding area (suggested places to eat, walk, hike, etc.) they also stayed home so we could have an early check in, which was really nice of them because they had errands to do. They gave both my parents and I early check ins (this was only possible because there was no one in our rooms the night before, I wouldn't always expect them to give you an early check in) They are dog friendly and had a portable fire pit and BBQ so we had a nice BBQ dinner outside. We walked our dog to the lake nearby (we didn't see the no dogs sign and she enjoyed swimming in the lake.... Oops!) If you stay here you HAVE to eat at the Prospector! read more

Gables Cedar Creek Inn is an amazing little establishment on the outskirts of Twain Harte just off of HWY 108. It is family owned and operated and it shows. The front office is actually inside the owners home and they do not use use computers for anything, all check-in is by hand. They have 8 guest cabins and one full home to match any families size and need. We stayed in The Loft which consists of a small kitchen and sitting area with a full bed set on the floor in the loft above. The Ewing's have thought of everything when it comes to furnishing these places. There may not be a lot of stuff but everything has its purpose and is functional, completely Utilitarian. The loft only cost us $98 a night and was worth every penny. There is also a game room the Ewing's call the situation room where the whole family can sit and enjoy their time together. They do have televisions but we have not found a need to turn it on and there is free wifi. I would highly recommend this place to anyone and would stay here again. read more

After 13 years of visiting the area I've always wondered what this place was like. Looked cute from the road..butt. I was happily surprised. We stayed here over presidents weekend. Me, my hubby, 12 yo and a big dog. A little tight but plenty of room for what we needed. Full kitchen was awesome. Cabin was clean, cute and quiet. We stayed in the "Birch". Nice grounds. Everyone there is very nice and helpful. I felt bad calling when our kitchen light blew out at 10pm but they came out within 5 min to change it. Super close to town but quiet. We paid $100 something a night plus $30 for the dog. Cheaper than renting a cabin. Just wish they didnt have the two night rule. We'll stay here again! read more

Hi everyone who might be interested In staying here all I can say is stay away !!! Iv been coming up for the last 13 years when Jan owned it ! She always made us feel like family and never had a problem always felt comfortable and at home .. !!!!We have family whom live here and have sent numerous ppl who always come up ! Since the new owners took over they raised the price and are not the friendliest .. Be carful if you have pets .. !!! There not pet friendly and if you have to cancel a week before he will keepingi your money ! He leaves nasty e mails and Iv heard he's not doing very well with his clientele .. I'm very sad that I won't keep my tradition of staying there ! I loved it but it's not the same at all ! Please be aware ! Keep your dogs on a leash or he will bill you with a nasty note .. I miss Jan and I miss the good old fashion nice people ! this guy is just out for your money there is no hospitality and feeling at home . All I can say is don't go there it's not s warm feeling anymore !! There are better places Iv even talked with people that live in twain heart ! I give no stars read more
