I would like to say all positive but this resort could be so much more. Not kept up very well. I thought there would be an active cantina and tiki bar but apparently only active during events held there. It says 3 hiking trails on the property but my dog could only find the 1 which we found a broken snow shovel and other garbage. Its a shame they let this family property get run down. Please call Hotel Impossible to help you. The grounds are beautiful with the trees and the rock pool, but the club house needs all the junk removed so you can play foosball.

If your looking for a quiet get away; away from it all, this is the place to come. If you have teens who are always on the phone... they wont have that choice here. It is a windy drive and the service isn't very good, so they wont have a choice but to get off of their devices. At night the wifi doesn't work very well and you'll have 1 or 2 cell phone bars. So if you need to get ahold of someone, you may need to go into town to make a call or use the internet. If you like vintage things you will love this place. Some people's reviews complained that they aren't more "modern" or "up to date"... uh thats the point. They had a barn/cantina area that they use for events. In side there is a bar and some vintage furniture. We thought it was super cute. Next to it is a pond which was pretty empty since it hasn't rained much this year. They also have a clubhouse that is open all day that has a bathroom downstairs along with some vintage items. My daughter had no clue what the operator switchboard was, so I showed her how it was used and how "back in the day" thats how we had calls connected. This was also her first time playing pool and she LOVED it. It was either 50 cents or a dollar per game. She was determined to beat me so we played probably like 6 games each day. She also got get first experience playing table foosball, that was interesting. Upstairs there are some couches and a bar area you can use. Outside they have some outdoor games, gorgeous pool and spa. Sadly the spa wasn't working when we were there. I guess the day before we left there was a guy repairing the heat component on it. They have a walking path but we couldn't seem to actually find where it went. The actual little cabin was cute. If you need darkness to sleep, make sure you bring an eye mask because it's super bright. There is a shower made for us short people, lol. There is also a microwave, small fridge, table and bbq outside. Cute lil place overall!

I was looking for quite awhile to find a place we could go to for our anniversary that we could take our little dog. We got him from a shelter at the beginning of Covid and he has a really hard time leaving him with others, and boarding him is something I just can't do as he was in a cage for awhile before we got him. So looking for a place that would be nice and easy to walk Winslow, plus be a great get away for us was really not easy. I'm so happy I found the Lazy Z! The cottages are cute and perfect for 2. They have some bigger homes on the property, but we only saw them from the outside. There are acres of paths and lanes to walk and the outdoor pool and spa is beautiful. We didn't see many other people at all, and we had no contact with the staff except the housekeeper who brought us new towels. Check in was so simple, in fact there really wasn't any! I received a text from Launa with directions and the number of our cottage. We were to go and the door would be unlocked with a key on the table. Anything we needed, we could text. There was a little kitchenette with plates, flatware, glasses and a Keurig coffee master with 6 pods. Bring your own for more coffee. There is a small frig, toaster and microwave. Everything we needed. I also brought my air fryer, as I can cook most anything in it. We had a nice roast one night that I cooked. So simple. We stayed for 3 nights, and explored the surrounding areas. The clubhouse is a walk from the cottages, so if you are not able to walk uphill you will need to drive. There is an ice machine both inside and outside the clubhouse. There are games, blackjack and poker tables, ping pong and pool, a big fireplace, TV and a bar that are all available to use. There is a vending machine with sodas downstairs. You could stay in the clubhouse with your family for hours and enjoy all it has to offer. The Lazy Z is close to Sonora for food and shopping. We also went to Jackson, Columbia and Arnold. My favorite was the drive we took up to Pinterest and we were able to play in the snow. The pros are friendly, helpful staff, secluded, safe place to stay and get away in a peaceful, beautiful setting. The water features are lovely and you can use the outdoor spa. We saw someone in it one time, otherwise it was empty. The cons are the mattress was hard and needs updating, the bathroom is tiny and the hot water only lasted about 5 minutes because of a time water heater. The cottages are basically tiny trailer homes. They are plenty for 2, and again, they have bigger homes to rent on the property. The price to bring out dog was $25 a night which is steep as we stayed for 3 nights. I think a cleaning deposit would be better and maybe one small charge extra. You wouldn't have known we had a dog and we actually left the place better than when we came as we picked up some trash on the property that others had left. It was in the higher priced side, and if you want more luxury you may want a hotel. We enjoyed our stay and may go back in the future!

Wonderful place to stay. Clean rooms beautiful setting inside and out. I would recommend a mini or long vacation. We live 5 minutes away and enjoyed a nice, private, beautiful, mini vacation.

Hot tub and fire pit.

This place is so amazing I'm not sure where to even start with the review. I will start with my drive there. On the way I received a text from Launa way before check in time telling me my cottage was ready, included directs on how to get to my cottage once I was on the property and that they room key was in my room waiting for me. I'm always skeptical about a place I haven't been to yet. Internet pictures can lie. Let me just say the pictures on Yelp & their website do not do this place justice. It is so nice, the cottages are adorable, everything was clean, and I didn't want to leave. We walked around the grounds to the pool, checked out the clubhouse, and an employee even let us check out the bigger cabins for the future. Plus you can't beat the price. I liked it so much that I made reservations for summer. Can't wait to go back. Hoping next time I get to see Gizmo.

Definitely coming back here! What a great little retreat in the woods, so great that I didn't have cell/internet service. Which means I had more time to enjoy the relaxing tall trees surrounding the small cabin. Too bad we were not able to enjoy the water feature and jacuzzi as we were short on time, but we did take a look at it and it looks just as promised. The entire resort was unusually quiet and empty, which made the whole experience much worthwhile and relaxing but a little eerie. We are able to check in early and check out late and the whole process of booking was smooth. This place was pretty central to popular attractions: Twain Harte 5 minutes away, Black Oak casino 30 minutes away, Natural bridge 30 minutes away and columbia historic park 20 minutes away.

We stayed here in July with our three kids (3,7 & 8), this home/location was perfect for our…read morefamily. Kids were safe and comfortable, which makes Mom & Dad happy! Here's what I wrote to the owners after we left: I cannot express to you how happy we were with our trip and your home was a major part of that! To be honest, the pictures online do not do justice to show the amount of space we had. I LOVED all the labels and how easy it made everything (TVs, refrigerator, garbage, etc.) to use. All of the outlets and modernization in that aspect were awesome. We all had so much fun in the game room and many hours were spent there with our kids. Our son, 8, loves all things video games and it was a treat to show him games we used to play when we were kids. The walk to the lake was easy. And, oh man, that little lake. What an ideal spot for our family. Our youngest is 3 and we felt so comfortable in that environment for all of our kids. We met your neighbor, Doug, and had some good chats with him. What a guy! Your binder with information was heavily used. We managed to get out and about a little bit: Columbia for gold panning, Lyons Reservoir, Fraser Flats, Pinecrest, my husband even made it way up Sonora Pass for a hike in the snow, while we soaked in the 80 degree weather. Unfortunately our fishing skills are lacking and we didn't catch dinner, but we still had fun trying. I will (and already have) share your rental with anyone looking and we hope to be back in the future. Our kids did not want to come home...we took them to Kauai last year and they didn't say that when we left there. Thanks for making such a magical place available to the masses. This is a family vacation we will never forget.

It definitely has a…read more"cabin" feel with forest in the back yard and deer sightings a couple of times on the property. We loved the little lake just a short walk away. Bring something to float on for a thoroughly relaxing experience! Our family is the outdoor type, but I was surprised how often we gravitated down to the arcade room for some fun competition. The cabin was clean, and everyone said that their beds were comfortable. Everything we needed to cook for a crowd was available including 2 coffee pots to accommodate our caffeine and decaf preferences at the same time. The owner, Eric, did a great job communicating with us and making sure that everything was going well. Neighbors were friendly, too. If you're expecting a luxury hotel with granite counter tops, this is not the place to come. If you want a relaxing, comfortable, and peaceful place to vacation with access to amazing outdoor activities, I definitely recommend this. That being said, let me tell you a few gems that we experienced while we were there... We drove up to Pine Crest Lake (probably about 20-25 minute drive from the cabin) and spent several hours hiking around the lake. There's a nice beach and picnic area, too, if you're not into the hiking. It's a beautiful area that reminded me a lot of Tahoe. We also went to Big Trees (an hour drive from the cabin). The North Grove of the park is impressive, I'm sure, but we drove down to the less travelled South Grove and had a great day of hiking while viewing some amazing trees (up to 25 feet diameter). A third adventure I would highly recommend is the Natural Bridges trail (about half way to Big Trees or 30 min from the cabin). The trail is about 1 mile long and takes you to a stream that goes through a cave. Bring your floaties so that you can float into the cave! What a treat! And a stop in the old gold mining town of Columbia for ice cream on the way home topped the day off. Great family vacation spot! Thanks, Eric!

Unfortunately, no one has been able to assist me when I call. I was told that I needed to email the restaurant manager, Rachel T., but she has not responded to any of my emails. I also left a voicemail, which has not been returned. What happened today was especially unacceptable. I called and spoke with an assistant manager named Sarah. I explained my frustration and asked whether she could assist me or connect me with the restaurant manager. I also explained that one of the reasons we chose this lodge was because it could accommodate our group and had an on-site restaurant, which is especially convenient when traveling with multiple families and children. Sarah's response was shockingly rude and unprofessional. She laughed aloud and said, "You booked here for this restaurant, not to see Yosemite?" I then asked to speak with a manager because her response was completely inappropriate. Before the issue could be addressed, the call was disconnected. After nearly a month of unanswered emails, an unreturned voicemail, and this extraordinarily disrespectful interaction, I am extremely disappointed. Rush Creek Lodge urgently needs to retrain its managers and assistant managers on basic professionalism and customer service. This level of treatment is unacceptable.

Our cabin was nice and clean and had board games for kids to play with. I liked the smell of their complimentary shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion that the lodge makes. There are also outdoor games like Bocce and ping pong tables. If you want to relax, the lodge has a large swimming pool, jacuzzi, and massage room. They also set up bonfires to enjoy s'mores in the evenings. We really enjoyed their All-you-can-eat BBQ night in the swimming pool area. The pool bar made delicious drinks. That was our hangout!! If you don't want the All-you-can-eat BBQ, there's a restaurant at the lodge to order food (breakfast, lunch, dinner) or you can buy snacks at their General Store. They also sell beer and wine. The General Store has souvenirs as well. Evergreen Lodge at Yosemite also offers glamping tents, a laundry room, bike rentals, and fun classes for adults and children, for example, if you wanted to learn glassblowing. You can also book tours from the lodge. Our toddler enjoyed the kids' playground and I enjoyed the zip-line. The lodge is less than 20 minutes away from Hetch Hetchy Reservoir with beautiful views of a waterfall and it's a 17-mile drive to Yosemite National Park. We look forward to going back next summer and staying at the same location. A must visit Yosemite!! Happy Yelping :)

We stayed on-site for the Christmas holiday and ate all our meals at the Lodge restaurant and tavern. 1) Lodge Accommodations -We always stay in the Deluxe Cabin - King. It's wonderful, cozy, spacious, and always clean. -The staff has always been exceptional, welcoming, and helpful, especially or despite working over holidays. -The nightly s'mores don't hurt -This holiday trip, Dez and Deneja, did a tremendous job with activities and were overall delightful. -Plenty to do (between hikes, games, and relaxing) to unwind with time away from electronics. 2) Restaurant and Tavern I'll start with the good: -The salads are really good and portion is large. -They have several options to accommodate different dietary restrictions. -Elk meatloaf is consistent and delicious -Sea Bass on Christmas was delightful (my husband's entree dish) -Servers & bar tenders are wonderful The bad: [Christmas Eve] Avoid the trout & gnocchi; trout was extremely dry and I'm not sure you could call whatever we received gnocchi. The "gnocchi" was too mushy, not much shape, and had a very off putting taste & fragrance. The worst: [Christmas] It was a prefixed menu, with delicious sounding options. One of the options was a Scotch Egg, seemed like an appropriate choice given the holiday. My husband chose the salad. I wish I had chosen the soup. When the scotch egg arrived, it looked good. Upon cutting, the pork/sausage was raw. The server, Cara (who was amazing the whole meal), apologized and took the dish back. The kitchen made a second attempt and the restaurant or kitchen manager stated that she watched them cook this one longer to ensure it was fully cooked. Well, it was more cooked than the last attempt. However, there were still clearly raw sections closer to the egg. Now, I can understand this isn't a regular menu dish, things happen, usually not a big deal. Yet, the restaurant or kitchen manager (didn't catch her name), decided to gaslight me instead. She said the pink bits are expected given that they use paprika (If that was the case, the rest of the meat wouldn't change colors when cooked nor would it be a different texture). She stated they only had the salad or I'd have to accept this, they were out of other options. Fair. Obviously, I didn't want food poisoning and didn't accept it. Cara did provide a 10% discount and, again, was extremely lovely the whole time. The tone and gaslighting from the restaurant or kitchen manager was completely unacceptable and off putting. We've stayed at Evergreen Lodge multiple times, included over the holidays; dining at the Restaurant and Lodge the majority of meals, with acceptable or great experiences. We'll continue to stay at Evergreen Lodge, but either dine at Rush Creek or select safer/regular menu items when dining here again.

Lily especially, she really stood out as a warm and caring guide, and knew every horse by name. Riley was such a responsible guide, kept checking to take sure our cinches were tight throughout our ride. The terrain was very very rugged and not for the faint of heart, but these horses were very sure-footed and freakishly agile, climbing the rocks like mountain goats. The horseback ride up to Kennedy Meadows Lake is a must-do, and the restaurant serves some really great food. The weather was absolutely perfect, and there's just something special about unplugging and enjoying the beautiful scenery. The only downside is the reservation process. You have to book about a year in advance, and it can take a lot of phone calls before you get through. It would be nice if there were a waitlist or a more streamlined reservation system for returning guests. That said, we appreciate the old-school charm and usually just take whatever dates or cabins we can get when the opportunity comes up. Each cottage is appointed with a gas-fueled faux wood-stove fireplace (easy operation via thermostat), fridge, micro, coffee maker, basic silverware/plates/cups, wonderful showers (great for power-washing off the mud and sweat after a day of rappelling and spelunking!) and extremely comfortable queen beds. The Barn was recently remodeled, using reclaimed barnwood, corrugated metal (for the ceiling sub-roof) and a pretty brilliant wallcovering that looks like warm old plaster, but is actually recycled craft paper and some sort of natural varnish. Cool! Also, a few relics from the region's mining days. There are board games, darts, books and other stuff to keep the individual, family or small group entertained. There's a large swimming pool (unheated in winter) and a small wading pool adjacent to another community kitchen and outdoor picnic area, and the only thing this area lacks is a hot tub. (Hint, hint!) Finally, there's Cosmo, the biggest, sweetest cat you'll ever want to kidnap. He's not allowed in the cabins, but he'll happily keep you company as you read a book on the porch, or wander up to the beautiful waterfalls behind the barn. He'll also keep score if you want to use the bocce court or horseshoe pits! Jamie, the manager, was involved in handling some of the charges, and despite our efforts to resolve the discrepancies, the situation became unnecessarily frustrating and time-consuming. Another disappointing issue involved a bag that was left behind. What should have been a simple customer service matter turned into a stressful and difficult process. Communication was inconsistent, and we felt as though we had to repeatedly follow up to get information and assistance. To make matters worse, when we attempted to escalate our concerns, we spoke with a supervisor named Emily. During the conversation, she was dismissive, rude and hung up on us! Insane that this was the person we were trying to get help from. Despite the circumstances, we never received a follow-up call to address our concerns or continue the discussion. It's unfortunate because the property itself is truly beautiful, and we wanted to love our experience. However, luxury hospitality is about more than just the physical location, it is also about service, communication, and how guests are treated when problems arise. While Firefall Ranch has many wonderful qualities, the service issues we encountered left us disappointed. Based on our experience, we would never return or recommend this place to friends or family.
