What an amazing resort tucked up away in the mountains within Tuolumne County. I've lived up here most my life , my entire childhood , I never knew this place was here, lol. (they need someone on social media, i would think) But this resort is a gem away from daily routine of the normal daily life and great relax at the pool, nice swim , quick dip, or maybe a little relaxation in the hot tub. from the world as we know it. lol. The pool is the heart of this resort , it really is , but sooo worth it. A nice beautiful waterfall on one side , with a cascading waterfall on the other side. looks all Natural, including the ground, looks like sand, and rock. Its beautiful... The pool has a shallow end but gets deeper fast. Pool has a nice lip that goes to the deep end from the shallow, it's roughly 2-3 feet deep for this ledge / lip. Middle of the pool is roughly 5 foot. Deep end is 8 feet deep. The main building is cool , nice hang out for kids or teenagers. lol. The cabin we were at, evergreen 1a was inside the pool area. Nice if you want to be close to the pool, but I can imagine it being noisy in peak season, just FYI. The cabin was nice, a little smaller than I thought but not bad. Totally worth the stay , 1 king size bed, bathroom / shower, small kitchen / Sink, mini fridge, cabinets / already has a few plates as well drink ware... maybe next time I will upgrade to the next cabin? Who knows, nice to have extra space if staying a few days or more. This place is worth the stay, if you like pools / spas , nice views, staying within the mountains and wilderness, but not camping, away from the crowds and lots of people ( that being said I have no idea how full this place gets in peek season. ) You are also within driving distance to Pinecrest, SOnora, and Columbia State Park. The resort is on side of the mountains if im remember right, so you have a small glimpse of whats through the trees, so if you are looking for a view of a lake, or mountain side / Canyon view, you wont find it here, that being said the view is still nice, specially in spring. But I do have to say the stars are amazing at night... Nature is flat out amazing , It was nice to sit out front of our cabin, drinking coffee, and watching the sun come up through the trees, little light rays dancing through the trees... I really liked Our stay here, the pool IS AMAZING, Seemed well kept up, clear water/ no junk in the water or leaves... The cabin was decent, little Rustic feel, which is pretty cool. But did have its issues. SOME OF THE ISSUES I HAD ----- Few things that needed to be fixed in the cabin, bathroom door wouldnt shut, stays open 2 to 3 inchs... lol Tv had issues connecting, or some error with the box, idk, and remote had dead batteries, tv wouldnt turn on, then replaced the batteries = tv turned on, but cable box or something had issues so couldnt really watch much, just a few channels, ( took batteries out of a gaming controller i had packed away in my bag, thus the batteries, lol ) I do feel like its Lacking something, and could have ALOT MORE potential. -- I think it would also have been nice to have some of the following, -- * Place seems a little dead, where are the staff? the office was evenm unstaffed , just had a sign list of names, and cabins, and a Map. Yoiu look for your name, and theres your cabin and your all set for your stay! ;-) The bar at the pool was unstaffed as well. * Maybe towels by the pool, not sure if its a resort, make it feel like a 5 star resort, in the mountains , so how cool is that, but again kinda lacking... * Maybe some social media, I feel like thats lacking as well... discounts in off season?? would be nice, ;-) * Staff the office on weekends? (not sure if its staffed on super busy holidays, or summer?) They do have a number to contact someone , or the host of the property, no idea never called it, I like face to face communication better. * I think the place needs a slight uplift, some repairs, maybe few added things, ALL AND ALL, I would love to give this a 5 star review, but it just doesnt have that resort feel, or anything really going on from my experience that tells me this is a resort, (on the +plus+ side of things) it really is + Pool is EPIC + beautiful area, + great rock work with the pool, and surrounding area, + hanging lights to set a nice mood to things, + - A place for live music / band, but its empty on a spring weekend, so is the bar at the pool.. - No working bar, no drinks **** A resort is alot more then just a pool, its an experience, its all about the guests, drinks, foods, music... Again i am not here on a HUGE busy weekend, so it might be different for other people coming on in mid summer vs Mid MAy! This was my first time staying in a cottage in the mountains! Did NOT dissapoint! Easy check in cottage was well equipped, clean abd home feeling! Pool, recreation area and clubhouse SUPERB! Make sure to bring food to grill on charcoal pit! no stove available! Bring lots of food, drinks and snacks. Beds were very comfortable with a/c and ceiling fan, coffee maker available is a keurig. Amazing location, so quiet and serene! We stayed in a 2 person cottage that allowed pets , we brought out little dog. The cottage was cozy and clean, bathroom and shower inside. Microwave and small refrigerator included. Super cute, will be returning for another quiet weekend away. read more

I would like to say all positive but this resort could be so much more. Not kept up very well. I thought there would be an active cantina and tiki bar but apparently only active during events held there. It says 3 hiking trails on the property but my dog could only find the 1 which we found a broken snow shovel and other garbage. Its a shame they let this family property get run down. Please call Hotel Impossible to help you. The grounds are beautiful with the trees and the rock pool, but the club house needs all the junk removed so you can play foosball. read more

Our room was infested with bugs. I left a glass of wine on the kitchen counter and in the morning it had 8 little beetles in it. Every time I'd lift up something from the nightstand they'd come running out. I called the office and was told the only room available was 2 miles away. The bathroom was not in good condition. Dirt and rust on the floor, door falling apart. Otherwise, beautiful location. You have to read the welcome book to find a warning that the water in the pool is not maintained, so swim at your own risk. read more

This place is great! You can rent a mini house! Ours came with a bedroom and a full size bed, linens and pillows. (Might want to bring your favorite pillow and blanket). There was a shower with just enough hot water! A marble counter kitchen, keurig, microwave, fridge, air conditioner ( late summer you will neeeeeed it) A lazy boy couch (yas!), TV. There is a deck with bbq grill (bring charcoal ECT) My tip: Bring a pan, oil and any real cooking items. They try. They really do. But don't be stupid. If you need that certain thing... It's not there. What they have: Nature, Ambiance. There is a club house! In the club house is a man made boulder swimming pools, and a hot tub that is big enough a grown man can lay across. There is a pool table, karaoke upstairs, bathrooms. What it's not: Perfect. If you need that go to a hotel. Bugs: It's pretty much the sierras. Bugs live here. They didn't come inside. But they tried. Hot tip: check out natural bridges, just Google it. It's a short hike down the ravine on a safe trail. Try not to go on a day it's 107 like we did. But it's amazing. Your kids will think you are so cool. Save some water for the doom hike back out. Bring a walking stick and floaties read more

If your looking for a quiet get away; away from it all, this is the place to come. If you have teens who are always on the phone... they wont have that choice here. It is a windy drive and the service isn't very good, so they wont have a choice but to get off of their devices. At night the wifi doesn't work very well and you'll have 1 or 2 cell phone bars. So if you need to get ahold of someone, you may need to go into town to make a call or use the internet. If you like vintage things you will love this place. Some people's reviews complained that they aren't more "modern" or "up to date"... uh thats the point. They had a barn/cantina area that they use for events. In side there is a bar and some vintage furniture. We thought it was super cute. Next to it is a pond which was pretty empty since it hasn't rained much this year. They also have a clubhouse that is open all day that has a bathroom downstairs along with some vintage items. My daughter had no clue what the operator switchboard was, so I showed her how it was used and how "back in the day" thats how we had calls connected. This was also her first time playing pool and she LOVED it. It was either 50 cents or a dollar per game. She was determined to beat me so we played probably like 6 games each day. She also got get first experience playing table foosball, that was interesting. Upstairs there are some couches and a bar area you can use. Outside they have some outdoor games, gorgeous pool and spa. Sadly the spa wasn't working when we were there. I guess the day before we left there was a guy repairing the heat component on it. They have a walking path but we couldn't seem to actually find where it went. The actual little cabin was cute. If you need darkness to sleep, make sure you bring an eye mask because it's super bright. There is a shower made for us short people, lol. Where do I begin......THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!! We had the opportunity to stay here for two nights (Manzanita Cabin). The place was clean and so comfortable, we didn't want to leave. The grounds were well kept. It is accommodating to couples and families. We enjoyed our stay so much, we booked it twice for 2021! Launa works in the office and is very welcoming, accommodating and helpful. Antonio is in charge of the grounds and we had the opportunity to talk with him and he educated us on the family, the other properties and recommendations for us to eat. read more

I was looking for quite awhile to find a place we could go to for our anniversary that we could take our little dog. We got him from a shelter at the beginning of Covid and he has a really hard time leaving him with others, and boarding him is something I just can't do as he was in a cage for awhile before we got him. So looking for a place that would be nice and easy to walk Winslow, plus be a great get away for us was really not easy. I'm so happy I found the Lazy Z! The cottages are cute and perfect for 2. They have some bigger homes on the property, but we only saw them from the outside. There are acres of paths and lanes to walk and the outdoor pool and spa is beautiful. We didn't see many other people at all, and we had no contact with the staff except the housekeeper who brought us new towels. Check in was so simple, in fact there really wasn't any! I received a text from Launa with directions and the number of our cottage. We were to go and the door would be unlocked with a key on the table. Anything we needed, we could text. There was a little kitchenette with plates, flatware, glasses and a Keurig coffee master with 6 pods. Bring your own for more coffee. There is a small frig, toaster and microwave. Everything we needed. I also brought my air fryer, as I can cook most anything in it. We had a nice roast one night that I cooked. So simple. We stayed for 3 nights, and explored the surrounding areas. The clubhouse is a walk from the cottages, so if you are not able to walk uphill you will need to drive. There is an ice machine both inside and outside the clubhouse. There are games, blackjack and poker tables, ping pong and pool, a big fireplace, TV and a bar that are all available to use. There is a vending machine with sodas downstairs. You could stay in the clubhouse with your family for hours and enjoy all it has to offer. The Lazy Z is close to Sonora for food and shopping. We also went to Jackson, Columbia and Arnold. My favorite was the drive we took up to Pinterest and we were able to play in the snow. The pros are friendly, helpful staff, secluded, safe place to stay and get away in a peaceful, beautiful setting. The water features are lovely and you can use the outdoor spa. We saw someone in it one time, otherwise it was empty. The cons are the mattress was hard and needs updating, the bathroom is tiny and the hot water only lasted about 5 minutes because of a time water heater. The cottages are basically tiny trailer homes. They are plenty for 2, and again, they have bigger homes to rent on the property. The price to bring out dog was $25 a night which is steep as we stayed for 3 nights. I think a cleaning deposit would be better and maybe one small charge extra. You wouldn't have known we had a dog and we actually left the place better than when we came as we picked up some trash on the property that others had left. It was in the higher priced side, and if you want more luxury you may want a hotel. We enjoyed our stay and may go back in the future! read more

This place is so amazing I'm not sure where to even start with the review. I will start with my drive there. On the way I received a text from Launa way before check in time telling me my cottage was ready, included directs on how to get to my cottage once I was on the property and that they room key was in my room waiting for me. I'm always skeptical about a place I haven't been to yet. Internet pictures can lie. Let me just say the pictures on Yelp & their website do not do this place justice. It is so nice, the cottages are adorable, everything was clean, and I didn't want to leave. We walked around the grounds to the pool, checked out the clubhouse, and an employee even let us check out the bigger cabins for the future. Plus you can't beat the price. I liked it so much that I made reservations for summer. Can't wait to go back. Hoping next time I get to see Gizmo. read more

This is a place we had never heard of despite having come to Twain Harte for many years. It is awesome. Beautiful lagoon-like pool (not heated, so make a note of that before you jump in!), hot tub, adorable cottages in a beautiful woodsy setting. Pet-friendly, too. Lawn area for games and for kids to run around, and great clubhouse. It was clean, well-kept and comfortable with polite and helpful staff. Contactless check in and out for the COVID era, and the perfect place to socially distance inside in separate cottages and cabins, yet come together outside. Definitely plan on returning! read more

Definitely coming back here! What a great little retreat in the woods, so great that I didn't have cell/internet service. Which means I had more time to enjoy the relaxing tall trees surrounding the small cabin. Too bad we were not able to enjoy the water feature and jacuzzi as we were short on time, but we did take a look at it and it looks just as promised. The entire resort was unusually quiet and empty, which made the whole experience much worthwhile and relaxing but a little eerie. We are able to check in early and check out late and the whole process of booking was smooth. This place was pretty central to popular attractions: Twain Harte 5 minutes away, Black Oak casino 30 minutes away, Natural bridge 30 minutes away and columbia historic park 20 minutes away. read more

We stayed overnight in one of the cottages last week. We loved this resort so much I just booked another stay! The cabins look nice too. I really liked how the cottages still had a camp feel to them. The property is beautiful. Lots of trees and space to wander. The pool is absolutely gorgeous. They have ping pong and cornhole, fire pits, hammocks, horseshoe pit. We've been to Lazy Z twice this year. Once over Fourth of July, and the once just recently in September. We LOVE Lazy-Z. Our first trip we stayed in a 4 person cottage, (We only had 3 people, but we went with firends and sometimes the kids like to spend the night in other cabins). It was plenty big enough for our family of 3, and it included a microwave and a fridge! The next time we stayed in Cabin 1B, it was just my daughter and I, but I decided to splurge a bit and stay right next door to where my friends were staying. It was right up by the pool/hot tub and it was WONDERFUL. I HIGHLY recommend staying in the cabins near the pool for Summertime. Especially if you have kids. An extra surprise was a kids movie for all the kids out on the lawn near the pool. The kids loved it, and everyone had a GREAT time. We are going again in January. CAN'T WAIT!!!! read more

Where do I start......I reserved the last room they had, cabin #5 Juniper...Of course it's the biggest cabin and there were only 2 of us but I really wanted to get away for the night...Booked it on Hotels.com for $324.00, I wish I never booked it...First off when you check in there is no one to greet you, there was a paper on the office door that has your name on it and tells you that your keys are in your cabin and that you can just go there...WTH? No one greeting you? Terrible customer service to start off with....The grounds are beautiful and peaceful, this is what the doctor ordered.....We decided to drive up to Twain Harte to the market to pick up dinner to cook since we have a kitchen and I thought it would be fun.......Let the nightmare begin...Spent $30.00 on Filet mignon and there were no steak knives, there was a dull bread knife which I had to use....I had a bottle of champagne so when I pulled out a few champagne glasses they were filthy, I mean gross....Dishes were dirty.....There couches are so outdated and dusty...Cob webs on the bar stools and windows...The wood on the front door is filthy, Upstairs toilet runs, stair rail was loose, smoke detectors not working, BEDS ARE OLD AND HORRIBLE (We tried all 4 and picked the best one), no blackout shades in bedrooms (Sun woke us up at 6:45am, I would of liked to sleep in)......Now it's morning and it gets better.....Picked up our clothes off the dresser and they were full of dust, I don't think anyone has dusted this place in months....Walked downstairs to find a cockroach on the kitchen floor and then we looked up and saw A FOOT AND A HALF CRACK IN THE CEILING....This is when I lost it and called the phone number that is left if there in an emergency, this was at 8:40am Sunday morning (I want to make sure I am not going to be charged for something that I did not do)....It went to message service and when I told her the lady what happened she put me on hold and transferred me to the owner of the resort.....The owner asks what is wrong and I told here there is a foot and a half big crack in the ceiling and her response was OKAY....What do you mean OKAY....How about is the crack big enough that anything fell on you? Is the crack big enough that someone could fall through from upstairs? I also mentioned that were are numerous problems with this cabin and her tone and attitude was TERRIBLE...I said you don't care about our issues and her response was, "It's Sunday morning at 8:45 am and I am laying in bed with my children"....WOW!!!!!...I don't give a crap if your laying in bed with your children I am a paying customer with some serious issues here and it was obvious she didn't want to deal with me because she is with her family.....Don't own a resort if your not going to be available 24/7 when a paying customer has issue with YOUR PROPERTY......From the time we got there until the time we left we did not see one worker/owner welcome us or say THANK YOU.....They just take your money and you never see them again.....AVOID THIS PLACE IF YOU CAN....I have posted a picture of the crack in the kitchen above the stove and as you can see it's a big crack and I don't know how stable or unstable it is.......Again, you have been warned read more

Avoid at all cost. The swimming pool is really cold, river cold so don't expect to swim in it even in summer. Even kids do not swim in it. The jacuzzi take few hours to warm up when you ask to switch it on. The cabin is not better unfortunately as due to bad maintenance several hole in the cabin let the wild life in: bugs, spider ... We spend the night fighting against those. Wait it's not over ... Indeed it's a wedding place ... So on Saturday afternoon while you finally begin to enjoy the jacuzzi you see lot of people wearing rehearsal outfit come and hang next to you ... And the Sunday it's the wedding you know ... To warp this up, this hotel have the potential to be a superb place but due to not caring, it end up as an awful place. read more

A great spot for a weekend getaway. Small but cozy cabins, a clubhouse with ping pong, a pool table, big screen TV, a fireplace, and an awesome pool...err...I mean "water feature" that looks more like a natural swimming hole or something. The cabins are set far enough apart that it feels secluded. -Every cabin comes with a BBQ pit and a picnic table. Bring food! -The small cabins are tiny, but the space is well used so they don't feel too tiny. When we arrived our cabin was clean, neat, and stocked with plenty of towels and toiletries. -There is a nature trail and a pond on the grounds, it's really quite beautiful. -Apparently there is a ghost, but we didn't see him. -Twain Harte is about five minutes away. -There are snow parks about twenty minutes away. If you need a place for a quick relaxing weekend away, this is the spot!! read more

Extremely disappointed by this place to say the least. First nobody welcome you and I am still wondering if we met the owners or not... The "water feature" could be awesome (beautifully set) but the water is so cold that even kids have difficulty to swim in it even during summer!! The jacuzzi...well first of all you have to ask to turn it on as there is no way to do it yourself The cottage itself is poorly maintained thus full of ants and spider and whatever which prevent you from sleeping at night and instead you enjoy the chase and hunting of those The bathroom is so narrow that you can barely fit in it and the sink is used for both washing yourself and the plates which I found not hygienic The chairs on the patio are barely usable and it would have been more logic to put a lounge chair or hamac I sent an email prior to arrive at the resort in order to know what to bring to Beaverton use the BBQ and never received any reply...I would have appreciated to avoid to have to go to the town directly after arriving at the resort There was a wedding on Sunday thus no jacuzzi thus somewhat you have to leave early !!! We came up here for my birthday weekend. It was our first time and we only heard of the resort threw Expedia. So we didn't know what we were getting into. With in two minutes of our arrival we were in love with this place. The grounds are in the middle of all of these wonderful trees. So many place to explore. There is a nice game room for the family. There is a jacuzzi and a pond with a cool water fall. Then when we got to our cottage it was super cute. Very clean and had everything you need for a great little get away. I have to say Im very picky when it comes to were I sleep so for this resort to get 5 stars it says a lot. We are already planning our nexts trip here . Its truly a secret gem. read more

What a beautiful resort! Eclectic but with all the amenities you need for a comfortable, enjoyable stay. The pictures and site descriptions don't do this place justice. Or host, Steve, was friendly and accommodating with suggestions on places to eat and how to make the most of our one day trip to Yosemite. Like many people we have not traveled in months and really needed a quick escape and boy did this place deliver! We had our own cabin with deck ,table and bbq. A beautiful pool area to relax next to plus the ping- pong, corn hole and pool table. We had plenty of space to spread out and be socially distant outdoors. My only issue is that our cabin advertised having an oven (which it didn't but we did not need one) and we didn't have a toaster (said it would). This place is home away from home. We stayed here 3rd week of July for 2 nights and we had a great time. Not crowded. We stayed in a 2-person cottage for a family of 3 because their 4-person cottages were sold out. We had to rent a cot for my son which cost $25 for the entire stay. The cottage itself is small and cute but we fit. Bed is comfortable. My son's cot was not bad, he slept well. The bathroom is tiny! I'm short and I still find the shower stall tiny, so If you are on the heavier set and around 6ft tall, I say it will be quite a bit of a challenge to shower. The resort is nowhere close to yosemite - it is about 1hr 45min ride to the park entrance. The reason why I give it 5 stars is because it is a very peaceful place to stay. You have trees around you and it's really quite. The neighboring cottages are pretty spaced out so you really get the privacy. They have a grill you can use - perfect for bbq and smores. They also have a beautiful pool - but not heated. Overall, I highly recommend this place. read more
