Dr Blank is ever so personable and has excellent hospital and teaching affiliations. She took such an interest in the boys and I never felt rushed. Be that as it may, when I went to see my primary care physician, I, upon the suggestion of my sister (first reviewer Dr. Blank) requested a referral/ suggestion for a dermatologist because of my excessive sun exposure in my 20's. I was referred to Dr. Blank. As soon as I set foot in the waiting room, I recognized the couches (My father used to have the same one lol.) Anyway, the wait was not unbearable. During my exam, I was completely honest with her when I said that I would go into the sun with SPF 30 in addition to a tanning accelerator, AND (gasps) that I used the tanning salon three different summers. I told her that I had already stopped using tanning beds and that I will stop using the tanning accelerator. She recommended to me the appropriate SPF to use especially on my face ( thought SPF15 was enough). She thoroughly looked at my skin (at what I thought was sun spots) and as of now, I have nothing to worry about. When I mentioned a disease I was born with that affects the skin, she looked at my (non painful) growths with the utmost fascination. When I mentioned that my skin feels excessively dry, she asked what soap I use and gave me samples of something that should help as well as the name of a lotion that should help. She also recommended to stay out of direct sunlight and to wear a wide brimmed hat. I would like to agree with my sister's statement. Yes, Dr. Blank is very personable. When I used to go to the pool, one woman who I will just refer to as Icarus was very much so "a sun worshiper." Her skin was dark brown, and appeared to have a leathery texture. Note to self: do not become Icarus. I have a followup with Dr. Blank in one year.

What followed was a masterclass in how not to run a medical office. I sat there for 35 minutes while two patients who arrived after me were taken in before me--without a word of explanation. In addition to the frustration of the wait--there was a lack of basic communication. The first acknowledgment didn't come until nearly 20 minutes after my scheduled appointment time, and even then there was no clear explanation. A simple "we're running behind" or "we made a mistake" would have gone a long way. Instead, it was a vague "he should be ready any minute". At 4:30, after watching others jump the line, I left. Yes, they apologized--but only after the damage was done. Why did they take two people before me. It was clearly a mistake, but I had already been waiting 25 minutes. An apology doesn't give me my time back which is valuable. For what it's worth, the physical space didn't inspire confidence either. The office is subterranean--below street level--and has a somewhat cave-like feel. It's small, a bit run-down, and the window AC unit doesn't help the overall impression. Mistakes happen. What matters is how they're handled. In this case: no communication, no ownership, no urgency. And a doctor who clearly thinks his time is more valuable than his patients. First impressions matter--especially in healthcare. This one ensured I won't be back. If you enjoy waiting and having your time disrespected, this might be your place. Otherwise, consider it a warning.

The nursing and office staff are also professional, knowledgeable, and helpful. I have been to many dermatologists and found them perfunctory and less than personable. My experiences with Dr. Cerbone have been the exact opposite. I have had serious dermatological issues and am so grateful to have received the excellent care I have with Dr. Cerbone's practice. He remains current in his profession, is prudent in his recommendations, but not without creativity and patient lifestyle considerations in his care plans. It is unfortunate this other reviewer had the experience noted. I hope she gives the practice another shot. I travel more than 20 miles to see Dr. Cerbone and would happily make it 50 if he were to move his office.

They were dishonest and I felt like they were trying to get over on me. If they said in the beginning that I would be seeing a Nurse Practitioner, I would have at least had the opportunity to make that decision to see a Nurse Practitioner instead of a Doctor.

He addressed all my concerns and was able to perform 2 small procedures in one visit, unlike other dermatologists I've been to who try and milk you to come back as many times as possible while you have to walk around with an unsightly blemish for weeks until you can get another appointment.
