If I could give negative stars I would! Absolutely appalled by the way they treat people. My 86-year-old grandmother made an appointment to have my daughter's prom dress altered. When we got there the lady (Penny) looked at us like we had 10 elephants standing behind us. Apparently "they don't take appointments!". I wasn't sure if that meant that we should leave or if they could still look at the dress because they just stood there starting at us. The whole alteration appointment was miserable, negative, and all around uncomfortable. Fast forward two weeks to today when my daughter's friends went to pick up the dress. I called to make sure they would be able to pick it up without the receipt before driving the 45 minutes from our house and the lady who answered the phone (Penny) said they just needed to give my name or phone number. The phone conversation was 34 seconds long. Well, when they got there to pick up the dress Penny thought it would be ok to tell them that I was the lady who wouldn't stop "yapping" on the phone when I called to ask about the pick-up. Let me remind you, the call was 34 seconds long. Absolutely appalling. I can see why this location has less then 3 stars. I really, really hope people take their business somewhere else! read more

I've used Gadue's for years. They are always super friendly and have done an amazing job both cleaning, storing, and repairing clothes for us. Also the seamstress did a terrific job repairing a patchwork quilt in a way that was barely noticeable, which I was very pleased about. Not sure what happened to generate the negative reviews here, but my experience has been positive for decades. read more

I know this place has some bad reviews, but came into town for a wedding and needed a suit dry cleaned with 1-2 day turnaround. We were pleasantly surprised with a less than 24 hr turnaround and with friendly service. Give them a shot. read more

Having been customers of The Greers for years, we were forced to find another dry cleaning service when The Greers was no longer operational. Upon our first time to patron Gadue's, they lost one of my husband's shirts..his favorite and most expensive. We had the receipt that 6 shirts were brought in but the employee (who was extremely rude and unprofessional) insisted that the number was a "mistake"..that there were only 5 shirts !! We attempted to get the matter resolved ..over a period of a month, 1 phone call and 3 different emails (using their website) , the final email was sent directly to Ailen Stirling who is listed as the president of Gadue's . NO RESPONSE from anyone!! I would not recommend this business to anyone!! Totally unprofessional in every possible way!! read more

Surprisingly unfriendly staff. Not welcoming when I was a new customer and not welcoming each time I came back. Very expensive no matter what piece you have cleaned. Turn around time is typically five days. Most places I have lived drying cleaning is much cheaper and comes back the next day. read more

I used Gadue's Dry Cleaning a number of times before I was aware of alternative options. The service is unprofessional and the cost is the most expensive I have ever paid for dry cleaning, especially with with such slow and sub-par service. I primarily used this location, but also frequented the Gadue's further south on Shelburne Road (which had nicer staff). On a number of occasions, I walked into this store and was the only customer there. One of the female employees there always acted bothered to have to help a customer. There were no greetings, no thank-yous or other common human business manners you would expect as a paying customer. Other times, I would walk in as the only customer and two employees would be having a chat and once again, they acted all bothered and continued their private conversations for a solid minute before I greeted them and asked to be helped. Other Yelpers have already mentioned this, but if you have experienced professional dry-cleaners, especially in bigger cities, you are used to same day turnaround for cheap ($1.09/shirt, $1.99/any garment) vs. $3.85 for a shirt and $8+ for other items and a turnaround time of a number of days? 5 star hotels charge as much as Gadue's - but a dry cleaner in Burlington, VT?! I called to complain about the lack of professional service and the cost. I was pleased to hear that someone by the name of Mrs. Gadue (presumably the owner) took interest and spoke to me about it over the phone. Mrs. Gadue did not engage on my concerns about Gadue's exorbitant cost (nor did I expect her to) and was apologetic about her unprofessional staff. Unfortunately, I perceived it as nothing but lip service only since my customer service experience did not improve one bit for a number of times after my complaint and Mrs. Gadue promising change. All that being said, the quality of the dry cleaning itself is fine. Unremarkable and they pride themselves on a more environmentally friendly approach to dry cleaning. I suppose that is nice, but as a consumer I am not sold that it is worth the terrible service or high cost. I usually do not feel compelled to review dry cleaners, but Gadue's consistently disappointed me on so many levels that I feel the need tell everyone I know to avoid it. I needed two very expensive skirts hemmed, so brought both here reluctantly (the hours of other spots were not times I could make, unfortunately). I gave explicit instructions on where I wanted the skirts hemmed to to maintain the integrity of the style. I was horrified at what the woman did to these skirts. The hems are both crooked and one is at least an inch and a half shorter than I asked for. Awful. Never go here. I regret not making the time to get to the places that would have done a better job or attempting it myself. If I could have given no stars, I would have. There was no apology, just defensiveness. The only bonus: I did not pay for this awful service. Do not go here. The worst alterations ever--I'd hate to see what would happen if it was more complicated than a hem. read more
