I called on a Monday, the nurse Amanda came to assess mom that afternoon and we had approval for services within an hour. By the next morning all sorts of equipment was delivered; it was amazing how quickly they worked. The next day Juliet the RN came and checked out mom. Both nurses were so kind and gentle with my mom. Juliet went over the transitioning signs and other information that was very helpful to me in knowing what to expect. She spent a lot of time with me, I never felt rushed; Juliet's care was genuine. Communication was top notch; I received text notifications every time Juliet was going to come by. Both Juliet and Joyce the social worker arrived within minutes of my mom transitioning and it was so comforting to have them here. I had interviewed other hospice companies in the past and while the people I met with were nice, they felt a bit fake. I did not feel this way about Unique Hospice. Their attention and care is real and very respectful. I highly recommend Unique Hospice to walk through this difficult time with you. We loved her main nurse, Shirley, who was the epitome of caring and patience! We also appreciated the truthful, yet diplomatic, evaluation of my mom's condition by her and all staff. As soon as we decided to switch to hospice care, we've been in touch with a few places but Maximum Care Hospice felt most transparent and comprehensive. Other places were a bit unclear about who is coming from where and what exactly is being provided with hospice care. Switching to hospice care was a difficult decision, but we are so happy to have chosen Maximum Care. We had a wonderful nurse Victoria. It was a short seven days but she provided all the support that we needed. There was no judgement whatsoever (my father was difficult) and she was very respectful and kind. We had a somewhat unusual circumstance, where the police had to be in touch with them (due to my father's passing as a result of a crime), but they handled it all very graciously. Equipment delivery and pickup was excellent. They are contracted with a place called St Joseph's and every staff from there was respectful and friendly. We also had a wonderful woman come to bathe my father before he passed away She was very thorough and efficient. I believe she isn't an employee but someone who is contracted to provide personal care to several hospices, but she had told me that she tries to take every job requested by Maximum Care because they treat her very well. When my father passed, Victoria came immediately and connected us with their recommended mortuary. My cousin, who is experienced with contacting mortuaries at her church community, was very impressed how seamless and "easy" Maximum Care made the process. Thank you again, and I will forever recommend Maximum Care Hospice to anyone who needs hospice care providers.

A doctor from Kaiser Permanente was also assigned to care and watch over my spouse after he had been moved from the nearby Kaiser Permanente Hospital. The people caring for him could only be described as angels. Gentle, softspoken, caring and watchful day and night. I could not have hoped for a better or more beautiful hospice than what I witnessed. Visitation was in complete privacy and the parting peaceful.

I urge you to carefully consider this before contracting with any hospice provider. Unfortunately, our experience with Faith & Hope made an already painful situation even harder. In April 2025, my mom suffered a massive stroke. She was placed under Continuous Care (CC), which meant she required critical, around-the-clock nursing support. We were told her case would be re-evaluated after three days. However, the care was stopped in less than 24 hours and we were given only 4 hours' notice that services would be discontinued. At that point, it was clear our needs no longer aligned with Faith & Hope's philosophy of care. We scrambled to hire private help on extremely short notice. That night, my mom was in significant pain & experienced agitation. She needed her medication adjusted and an increase of the dosage frequency to help manage her symptoms. The next day, we made final attempts to Faith & Hope to reassess mom's eligibility for CC, even though the on-call night nurse, when we asked, did acknowledge that we were free to seek another hospice provider. We waited all day for a response from Faith & Hope, but heard nothing. Faced with another evening without adequate care, we transferred my mom to a different hospice. They gave us the right care without hesitation. Sadly, our mom passed away only 4 days later. The only positive experience we had with Faith & Hope was with Nurse Theresa. She cared for my mom with compassion, dedication and a true commitment to patient advocacy. Theresa's thoughtfulness and support helped guide my brothers and me through an incredibly challenging time, and for that we are deeply grateful.

Hard to believe a medical service can be as attentive as a fine dining restaurant, but that is what…read morethis was. We used Five Star for about five days. Medicare and Optum covered the hospice side. I paid separately for 24/7 caregivers through Sincere Care Services, which I chose because I wanted Cantonese and Mandarin speakers so my mother would be more comfortable. Five Star was recommended by the Optum physician on staff. Separately, a family member recommended them too, through a friend whose father had passed the week before. I checked their ratings on Yelp and Google before moving forward, and I am extremely happy with the service we got from start to finish. This is the point where you decide between more hospital intervention, which can be painful, and accepting the situation and moving to hospice. Hospice is the wedding coordinator for a peaceful death. Things can still go wrong even when you plan everything perfectly, but Five Star was there at every step to handle whatever came up. The rough sequence for anyone about to do this: 1. Decide on hospice. 2. Line up caregivers. They are separate from Five Star, but Five Star will point you to good ones. I wanted Chinese-speaking caregivers and Mark made it happen. 3. Coordinate with the hospital on transportation. 4. Be home to receive the supplies. 5. Be home when your loved one arrives. Have a bottle of distilled water ready for the oxygen machine. 6. Have the nurse and the caregiver both there so you can learn the comfort meds. 7. I used 24/7 caregivers on 12-hour shifts. I made a point of being there whenever a new caregiver came on, so I could walk them through the medications and get their phone number. Nurses came once a day to check on my mother since she was close. You do not have to be there the whole time, but I tried to be there for shift changes. One thing I wish I had watched more closely was bowel movements. My mother had been constipated since the hospital because she was not eating. Another tip: put together a playlist of beautiful music to play in the room. Otherwise it is silence, or your loved one is listening to caregivers talk and scroll on their phones. Even when your loved one is not responsive, they are still listening and drifting in and out. Tell them everything will be okay. Thank them for everything they did for you. I think it helps them go peacefully. Anytime I needed something, Mark was a text or a call away and he always answered. Again, they are the wedding coordinators for a loved one's passing, and they will do everything within their power to help you through it.

That is because adequate words of praise have not been invented, and may never exist to accurately describe Christina's infinite compassion and dedication. I have seen my grandmother, then my mother being assisted in their transition from this world, have met exceptional, kind, and caring individuals, but never have I met and received help from anyone like Christina. She is young, yet mature and knowledgeable beyond her years; sweet, loving, and caring, yet relentless and firm, selfless and giving, yet wise and highly ethical. Watching her care for my sister, I realize that unlike most people, Christina genuinely and altruistically practices nursing for the good of her patients, quietly and steadfastly, never missing even the smallest detail that would make a difference in giving comfort and care. It was never about Christina, or about how good or caring she can demonstrate herself to be. It was all about her sick and afflicted patient. I keep pinching myself, wondering if I was really that lucky to have had such a nurse assigned to us. In everything she does, Christina combines expertise and humility, never bragging about how much she knows, or how good she is. I see it in the way she administers medication, how she bathes my sister, making sure to clean every inch of her body while avoiding to distress her. I could go ad infinitum about Christina, but will sum up with a quote from a French ecclesiastic, Jean-Baptiste Lacordaire, "Real excellence and humility are not incompatible one with the other, on the contrary, they are twin sisters." True Care Hospice is very fortunate to count Christina among its nursing staff, and our family is blessed to have met and received care from our beloved nurse Christina. She gives true meaning to the term hospice, and perhaps should be in charge of training newly arrived hospice nurses. More Christinas will make this a better world.

She listened to what I had to say and I thought we could work it out but in the end i could not get passed the behavior and on the advice of counsel i had to terminate the contract. Please read below... Very odd experience with a few employees. Renita at first seemed dedicated but that changed to over stepping boundaries and inserting herself where she did not belong. Renita was sending videos of my incapacitated brother along with his bad actor caretaker who Happened to clean out my brothers checking account out on July 16th 2026 to my brother's attorney who drew up his AMCD and POA etc. I demanded a copy of the videos be sent to me immediately. Apparently, my brother was being psychologically tortured by Paul Mendoza according to Renita. He was telling my brother that I was going to put him in a nursing home. I asked Renita who was telling my brother that and her reply was it had to be Paul Mensoza. NO one else was there. Paul sent the videos to Renita and Renita sent them to my brother's estate attorney. My brother's estate attorney was approached and called by Renita. Very strange/odd behavior. After this a few days later, Roze Room called Paul Mendoza to check to see how Michael was and Paul tried to fire them. He has no authority to do such a thing. Renita was another victim of Paul Mendoza. She was used. The Spirtual Advisor story contradicted the HOA cameras. Joe Smith (spiritual advisor) stated he waited outside my brother's building for 45 minutes waiting to be let in the building. The HOA has him on Camera entering the building at 6:05PM. Joe, for your info i have installed a security system in my brother's condo. Joe called me on the phone and he was very sarcastic, disingenuous and uncaring nature. I hired these people because my brother wanted to stay home and the women at Cedars gave me the name and stated they would travel to Century City. Luckily, my brother's building has security cameras and has a library of people that come into the building and can tell you exactly what time they entered. I cannot recommend this group under my circumstances. Good Luck e veryone. When a loved one is sick you need a god support system.
