Our party of four went for a late breakfast. It was our first time visiting Toronto and this was our first restaurant experience in the city. Standards were set high from there on out as we loved Galaxie Diner. We loved the retro look and feel of the place, inside and out. Great, fun sign on the front. Indoors were 50's style tables and seating, very colorful and whimsical. The large murals and smaller art depicting stars and scenes from the 50's were fun and provided some good photo ops. Our server was so friendly and kind, amenable to a bit of conversation which was nice. They accommodated us to split a milkshake between two of us and anything else we asked for. The food was quite good, served hot and fresh. We wanted to visit again before our trip was done but time didn't allow us to. Prices were what you would expect. We would definitely recommend this establishment and will return when we visit Toronto again. read more

This is a little hidden gem in Vaughn, the staff here are phenomenal! We requested to be seated outside and the team even thought it was a pretty busy morning set up a new table for us upon request. I ordered the three eggs with toast and home fries, and this was just a simple and delicious meal, my eggs I like over easy, but the whites cooked all the way through the the yolks runny, which is what they did, the fries were crunchy and had an interesting flavour profile, I don't know what it reminds me of but it was a great blend of spices. The potato's were fried and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, exactly what your craving for in your breakfast fries. I ordered the rye toast, this had a little more butter than I would have liked. I also liked that our meals came with ketchup without having to ask for it. I was a little disappointed in the orange juice, I thought it was going to be freshly but it wasn't. But dessert more than made up for it. We had a delightful cheese cake topped with strawberries, this was the perfect ending to our meal. The staff went above and beyond my expectations during the pandemic, our server was an older gentle man, he didn't use anything to write our orders down, but everything came to us as we ordered it, we were impressed with this man. The hostess was polite and the restaurant was decorated to have a 60's feel which came through with all of the unique pieces on the wall. This place is a definite top pick for me! read more

My rating scale is 1 star= atmosphere 0 star= cleanliness 0 star= price 1 star= food and the final 0 star= service. We ate between 11:30am and 12:30pm on a Saturday. The place was about half full. The 50's feel is apparent when you walk in. The noise level was very high as there were a lot of families with kids and a lot of screaming. This location is cozy and I don't mean in a good way. The aisles are squishy and the tables are very close together. Poor waiters/waitresses who have to squeeze their way through the aisles and and patrons are so close to each other every conversation can be heard. The young man who lead us to a table and cleaned tables looked like he really didn't want to be there. He was just filling in time. At least that was my impression. My husband and I have never been here. We were sat at a table that was WET and took forever to dry. Pretty gross and if anyone there had their Food Handlers certificate then they would know this isn't right. Our server came right away and I got a sticky paper menu which was pretty gross. My cutlery wrapped in a napkin was placed on a wet table wiped with God knows what. Gross. We got a coffee and a tea served right away but my hot water wasn't enough to even fill the cup so I had to ask for more. When I filled the cup there was enough tea left for probably 3/4 of a cup. When I went to pick up the cup to drink my tea the handle was all sticky. Gross. We ordered two Great Canadian Breakfasts to eat there and two Classic Combos to go for tomorrow's breakfast. The food came promptly and was hot and everything tasted great. The bacon was nice and salty but the peameal bacon tasted like someone dumped the salt shaker on it. Yikes! Was difficult to eat. The waitress asked us if we would like white or brown bread. I saw later that others had rye or something else, which we would have preferred, but were never given that option. Our meals included flapjacks. She asked if we would like it with blueberries or chocolate chip banana. We were never told that this option was ANOTHER $2.00 or I would have forgone that option and had them plain. She knew it was our first time here. The meals don't come with a coffee or a tea, that's another $3.09. I would say this is comparable to Denny's and Cora's in quality and portion size. Just as we started eating we were brought our "To Go" food which I found a little odd but didn't say anything as I was glad not to have to wait for it and we weren't rushing to eat it then anyway. While looking around the decor and atmosphere was typical of any 50's place I've been to before. It looked older which is exactly what it should be. When our meal was done, we had to put some of it with tomorrow's breakfast because with the pancakes and full meal it was just too much to eat for the both of us. We could probably have split one and been more than happy. I opened my to go meal and something was not right. I was given the incorrect meal so it was taken back to be corrected. The table of 6 beside us were at the end of their meal when we arrived. When we were done our meal she promptly cleared the table, including the second tea I never got to drink but paid for. She never even asked if we wanted anything more or if I wanted to finish my tea. When we left the table of 6 beside us were still drinking coffee and gabbing away but she removed my tea and so I guess that was a way of waying, "Thanks how get lost". I guess my $100+ wasn't as good as the people next to us that paid for two more breakfasts than we did. That's how I felt, like I was being pushed out of the door. I paid the bill, which was $89.95 for four breakfasts. Pretty pricey. I didn't check the bill because my husband had looked it over and I assumed he checked it. Turns out he didn't. We left a cash tip so the server wouldn't be taxed on it at source although looking back I would have left no tip at all if I could do it again. When I got home I noticed the bill was wrong. We had 2 x 2 combos. Two were at $16.49 plus $6.18 for a coffee and tea, two times $2 for wanting blueberries and chocolate chips on the flapjacks, and two at $15.99. What we were charged for was THREE at $16.49 and ONE at $15.99. I know it's not much difference but that's not the point is it? With everything else that was just the icing on the cake for me. We definitely will NOT EVER be going back here because of our first and only bad experience. I posted my receipt and all sides of the menu and looking back at pre c0v1d pricing the meals have gone up by about $5 each and the coffee went up considerably. Price increase BIG TIME. Yup, I'm done. Cooking at home moving forward. Wendy's has a nice breakfast now. I had read other reviews before deciding to come here. That was pre c0v1d and they say there were line ups to get into this place. There were no line ups for lunch on a Saturday nor did we have to wait to be seated as it was half empty. read more

I've eaten here a few times... value for your dollar is as good as it gets. I tend to try to avoid fried foods, but if you're looking for a great classic breakfast joint that has good quality bacon and eggs, this place is it. Milkshakes are decent... and I like that they give you the extra in the metal container that they make the shake in. Delicious. I usually stick to the Canadian breakfast... two HUGE pancakes, eggs, bacon, Peameal, home fries and more for $10 - can't go wrong! The pancakes are great too - cooked to perfection. Service is a bit slow at times... which I would give it an extra star if they would just smile :) Should you go check the place out? YES. An "authentic" diner experience! What you expect at a diner you'll definitely grab the ambience of it. Looks and feels like a diner that's been there for ages, that's in the middle of Woodbridge and right off Pine Valley and Highway 7. The menus are simple and easy to read. I ordered The Great Canadian which was a two handfuls of deliciousness and my girlfriend got the 3 eggs and Pea-meal Bacon with a side of French toast which was amazing! The food felt really homemade and the home fries were cooked perfectly... each homefry was cooked to perfection and I could probably eat them everyday if I can. Wasn't busy at all at 8:30am on a Saturday morning which was surprising. The waitress was very attentive and had a great sense of humour that really made our Galaxie Diner experience a breakfast to remember. What can I say? This place can get pretty damn packed, but I'd still wait. I've been coming here for years. The food is great, the service is alright, and as busy as it can get, it isn't *toooooo* long of a wait. I was here just this past weekend. I think it's the longest I've ever waited for my food. I'm not much of a breakfast person, so I usually stick with the pot roast dish. It's always cooked and sauced up great. This last time was alright, it was kind of dry with little sauce (I had to request some on the side). It was super busy, so I'm not mad at anyone for the wait. Came here on a Saturday morning around 10:30. Upon entering I noticed it wasn't too busy and we managed to get a booth. The decor is dated sure, but it gives the place character. I actually like the look. But what I didn't like was that the tables were dirty. I had to wipe it down myself. There was crumbs near the napkins and sauce area. Gross. We came here because of the cheaper price and they had the home fries I like. We ordered 1 classic combo and 1 cadillac combo. Classic Combo came with 3 eggs, bacon, sausage, homefries, 2 pancakes and toast. All for $10.79. Cadillac Combo came with french toast, 2 sausages, 2 bacon, 2 peameal bacon and home fries. $10.89. The french toast was okay.. didn't really have much flavour. Everything else was your basic breakfast food. Now with the price being lower.. I have to say the quality is not the best. But it is comparable to Cora's. We had so much left over. You can most likely share one combo and add a few items and it'll be enough. Even one combo may be enough. Our server was good. Great breakfast in a casual restaurant set in the '50s. As you walk in you are transported back in time to the era of poodle skirts, Marlyn Monroe and Elvis. You might have to wait a bit during peak hours but you will be seated, there is no seat yourself done here. Mon-Fri before 11am gets you the Breakfast Special for $3.99 It includes: 3 eggs, bacon or sausage, homefries and toast (white, brown or rye) I have also eaten Chicken fingers and fries as well as their burger and their BLT Wrap. Although the lunch menu is good, I love their all day breakfast. I have gone to many breakfast places and I always come back here, it just doesn't compare with the quality and quantity you get. I really enjoyed my breakfast today at the diner, the food came just as I ordered and was perfectly cooked the way I like, I asked for my food a certain way and they delivered! The service was great too, the server checked in several times to offer a coffee refill. When it came time to pay the service was efficient and I didn't have to wait long to pay. I will say the only thing I didn't like was the bathroom. The ladies room has too much perfume to cover up the smell that seems to be coming out from under the toilets, there is a lot of white silicone to seal the toilet to the floor. Why not fix the problem by replacing the wax seal or foam gasket that is obviously not doing the job of containment of urine, thus the reason for using really smelly perfume to cover the smell. There are great products to fix this problem that are not that expensive. If they could fix this smell it would be better for all using the bathrooms. Anyone with sensitivities to scent will encounter a problem with their lungs if they need the restroom. I really hope they can fix this. read more

Went here for the second time this year. The sandwiches are good but please do not get the soup. It is pretty bad. The chicken "gumbo" soup has a bad chicken smell and is not appetizing. The place has a dated 1950s vibe but the chairs and tables are sticky to the touch. May be the type of cleaner used. Waiters are not friendly. A 3-egg Eggs Benedict with homemade Hollandaise for $9? I'm in. I stopped in on my way to a meeting. The '50's motif was pretty authentic, if only the waitress had worn a period costume. The eggs were cooked to a perfect state, with the yolk still oozy and the whites fully cooked. Two things I noticed: 1) the 3 eggs were poached in little bowls, so they did not have the "free-form" look of pot poached eggs, and 2) the Hollandaise must have been homemade, because it was broken. I'm OK with the eggs, providing they are cooked to the right state. The Hollandaise, however, had separated (broken) into butter and cooked egg yolk particles, and was a bit heavy on the lemon juice. Usually a restaurant will serve you two eggs for $12 or more, so regardless, this is a good deal. I will certainly go back, looking for the cook to redeem himself with a creamy Hollandaise. If that fails I'll still go back for eggs over easy. Of course, there is the entire rest of the menu to explore... read more

This place was really no different than any other breakfast place, the only advantage is that it's a dinner. I live dinners! And this place has that 50s feel all over it. From the pictures on the walls to the coin operated juke box in the corner. By the way this place is open on Sunday even though it says on Yelp that it is not. The breakfast was great, even though I think it is very difficult to get breakfast wrong, it's a simple meal to cook. The food came to our table in a timely manner, plus our server was friendly. 3.5 Always happy to support a lesser known business, so I gave Galaxie a try. I had the mushroom & swiss burger and a strawberry milkshake. The burger didn't disappoint! A generous amount of cheese - I was pleased :) The servers were willing to answer questions but the service overall wasn't exceptional. The milkshake was about $5 and, interestingly, I received 2 milkshakes for that price (the server hands you your milkshake in a glass, then gives you a small bucket of extra that amounts to another full portion). That was really nice! It was a quaint place overall which did a decent job of honouring the 50's theme it boasts, although I do think that having the servers dress in diner garb (and with rollerblades!) would be extra special :) read more

It's a cute diner in Vaughan area serving breakfast all day. Decor is kinda worn out and front entrance needs cleaning. Old dirty mat, sticky door etc. I ordered the cheapest in menu for breakfast $7.29 comes with 3 eggs, home fries, choice of ham, sausages or bacon, whole wheat toast. I can taste old oil used in frying the eggs and ham came soaking in oil must have been grilled on oily grill. The only perfect thing on my plate are crispy home fries but again I still taste old oil used to deep fry these fries. One positive on this visit is to be greeted by a pleasant happy server. She deserves a tip but unfortunately breakfast here is not worth coming back for. read more

I am also a fan of the eggs Benedict but would much rather prefer an equal English muffin to egg ratio. I don't know what to do with three eggs and only two muffins! I've eaten at the Galaxie approx. 10 times in the past 2 years...so the food must be decent or I wouldn't go back. Through no fault of their own, the place is always packed. The wait for seating can be a bit long and the front door is not designed for patron to stand in line while waiting for a table. Due, in part, to how busy they are, the tables are packed quite close together in attempts to get as many people in as possible. I really do not understand how the waitstaff can manoeuvre through the maze of seating without spilling or dropping anything....but they do. Don't be surprised to have to move for them to let them through...especially if you're at a table. Reviewing the menu might bring a bit of sticker shock...some of the bkfst combos seem a tad high ($7.99-$10.99) but the quantity of the food you get actually makes it good value for the price. We've tried almost all their bkfst fares...waffles, pancakes, combos, club sandwich, etc and haven't been disappointed with any of them. Service is great.....friendly, efficient and portion size good. This was my go to place for bkfst however with all the options that have now opened up I visit less frequently...mostly due to the crowds and location (Highway 7....which can get very busy) read more

Came here tonight for some burgers and milkshakes an we weren't disapponted. I was in the mood for a salad and soup but the soup wasn't that appetizing to me. Along with the table itself being dirty, we had empty butter and cream containers left behind from the previous customers, that were not cleaned up properly by the service staff. Went for Mother's Day breakfast knowing and expecting the wait, especially for a party of 13. They don't take reservations and said first come first serve. Waited for over 40 min in a line up and there was one party to be seated in front of us. Suddenly they start asking for parties of 2 or 4 to be seated. Ridiculous! They were giving seats to smaller parties when they could have easily pushed the smaller seats together to accommodate the large parties that were waiting. Had to tell them how to arrange the seating to accommodate the larger parties. Really?!?? I don't even work there and I know their job better than they do. Great place with great prices! The vanilla milkshake was delicious. It was served in a glass with the extra served in a tin container, which was pretty much getting 2 for 1. I got the Galaxie burger which is just a regular classic burger (lettuce, tomato, red onion, dill pickle) but the patty was very juicy, cooked perfectly. I came in craving a burger and i was satisfied. I also ordered a poutine and the fries came crispy, just how i liked it. However they used mixed shredded cheese and not cheese curds but still very tasty. The service was great as well. Our waiter gave us his full attention from the moment we walked in and made sure we were satisfied up until we asked for the bill. Very friendly staff. I had a bad experience, I ordered souvlaki chicken dinner for my son and the rice was spoiled when i let the server know she said i tasted in the kitchen it's alright for me. They dont know customer service, we couldnt eat anything and still they didnt replace the food nor they deduct the money from the bill. I wanted to see the manager amd the server said he went home. I'll start by saying that I like diners. This is a typical diner concept: 50's advertisements, checkered floors, but also flat panel Midday service was a bit curt, no smiles or anything just down to business. Coffee was very watered down (maybe that was the style in the 50's). My test of any diner is breakfast, in this case bacon and eggs, which was exactly as you'd expect. Food was cooked perfectly. This is a place where "food is fuel". The entire place is due for a good cleaning (scrub those checkered tile floors, please!), it would differentiate you from the multitude of other diners in the area. read more
